AMAZING! My husband and I have NOT found a GOOD Mexican restaurant in the area until we found this place. Don't let the name fool you, the food is SO TASTY! The service is friendly and we sat outside, it was 80 degrees and it was wonderful. I ordered a super burrito and it was the best super burrito in the Folsom area I've ever had. I've tried other places near by and nothing compares. The horchata was so sweet and creamy I loved it, not watery at all and it was a BIG cup of horchata. Disappointing first impression. My husband and I decided to give La Calle a try for our "date night." We came on a Friday night. We stood by the entrance for some time before anyone greeted us. The place was not busy. After we got a table, we waited some more before anyone acknowledged us. Again, the place was not busy. My husband ordered the barracho burrito and I got a couple of tacos. The burrito was small and dry. The meat did not have much flavor. The tacos were okay - they're more like street tacos. My husband enjoyed the cadillac margarita. Overall, we were underwhelmed by the food and thought the portion size was small given the price. We stopped in for lunch after church. The chips were fresh and thick and still toasty-warm. The salsa was light and tasty. Service was prompt. We chose to sit inside, looking out at the patio. Both my husband and I ordered the chicken enchilada plate. I ordered the green sauce and cilantro-lime rice; he had the red sauce and Spanish rice. We both ordered the black beans (choices are black, pinto, or refried beans). Everything was delicious! And the servings were generous. This place is easily one of my favorite spots in Folsom with all the unique, flavorful, and overall delicious options available for everyone! Kayla and Eddie are the owners and overall delightful human beings who always greet us with a smile, and the staff is amazing, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu which is always a plus when you are asking for suggestions for example. Interesting venue for Mexican food on Auburn Folsom Road near the Rainbow Bridge in Folsom. I had a grilled chicken Chimichanga and my guest had grilled chicken Sopes. Both tasted fresh and we did not have to break out the Tagamet thanks to our request for NO ONIONS or TOMATOES. The Guacamole was good with our entrees. We did not try the salsas because we don't eat that stuff. The meals come with or without beans and rice. Thank God we passed on those side dishes. Photos attached. Margaritas taste OK, but the glass containers are simply too cumbersome for most people to handle. I am talking about barbell sized glasses that should be replaced with something user friendly. I always look at the rest rooms to see how clean they are before I make my mind up about the overall ambiance of a restaurant. The rest rooms were clean. This place is amazing. It has a fun hip vibe, but also plenty of regulars. It's a busy place. The owners are present and welcoming. The food is amazing. I tried a crispy taco with shredded chicken (very good), a street taco with pork belly (sublime) and I got a side of rice and beans (the rice was perfectly cooked, with each grain separate and very flavorful and the beans were homemade and fresh with cojita cheese on top). The salsa was great, chunky and flavorful with a nice bit of heat, the chips are thick and crisp with the perfect amount of salt and not too greasy. I ordered a mango margarita, made with fresh mango purée! Everything was great. I will definitely be returning, can't wait to see all of the new additions to their menu. We have a tradition of going to a spot in Modesto every week and still do that with the family down there, but this will be the spot up here. No doubt. Kayla, the owner, has such a great personality and truly cares about each guest. With her leadership the staff definitely follow suit. I think this place wasn't known because it is fairly new but now the following is huge so if you plan on going expect a possible wait. It is well worth it though. My plate of choice has been the two Sopes dinner. Fresh and handmade sopes really is the difference. In fact, the chips are fresh homemade, and the salsa is just right. Other favorites are the Burrito Bowls and Flautas plate. Our 6-year-old love the shredded chicken flautas with beans and rice. One of my favorite appetizers is the carne asada fries. The carne is so good; you can tell the quality in the meat. Mixed with Fries, jalapeños, melted jack cheese. This is so good. However, my favorite appetizer by far is the Street style Elote. This place looked so good on the screen, and they do have a great location and service. It is just that some of the basic things do show a lack of care and standards in the food. I'll be honest; they have great salads, salsas, and tacos. Drinks are what you'd get anywhere else. What really upset me was that the sopes were really bad; raw, undercooked masa without a pinch of salt, and then the topping were just as bland. The kids burrito is similar to what you'd find in Taco Bell- no offense to Taco Bell. We had the carne asada burrito bowl, which was huge and complemented with pinto beans, lettuce, radish, avocados, cheese and salsa. We also had the carnitas platter that came with pinto beans, lettuce, avocados, cheese and salsa. The carnitas meat was very tasty and juicy and possibly the best I have ever had! If you still have room to eat, you have to try the churro doughnut & ice cream for desert an absolute must have. Last but certainly not the least are the margaritas, they have to be one of the best in town. I love the large glasses just like we have when we visit Puerto Vallarta. I came in and wasn't greeted by anyone except a man at the bar who looked at me like I had a tail. After waiting for a few minutes, an employee asked me if I wanted to sit at the bar or a table. He too looked at me as if I didn't belong there. I opted for a table. I noticed everyone had chips on their table so I assumed I would get chips too. I ordered my food and still no chips. I checked the menu thinking I had to pay for chips, but nope. They were free. Another couple comes in and the waiter was so friendly I thought they must have known each other. He sat them asked what drinks they'd like and offered them chips and salsa. My food came. It was awful. Ordered chimichangas. It was very dry...like the chicken was 5 days old. The guacamole was brown. Not just the top of it, but through and through and absolutely flavorless. I asked for sour cream to help moisten the dry food and the server walked by, never broke his stride, I figured he didn't hear me. Suddenly he arrived with the sour cream. I asked him why I didn't get chips, he said I should have asked. He brought me about 10 chips with flavorless salsa. At this point, I was absolutely outdone. All I wanted was my check. He never came back so I went to the bar to pay. I left absolutely no tip which is so not like me as I am a generous tipper, but the service was the worst I have ever experienced in my life. I forgot to mention that I am a 6 foot black woman. I hope that had nothing to do with the treatment I received. I will never come to this place again. Just awful is so many ways. read more

The complimentary Chips and Salsa were good (my wife ate most of them). Myself, the chips were fresh, and though good, I do like a more spicy Salsa. 4. Entree... well, I do love Mahi Mahi Tacos, and the two served me were very, very good. Good flavors throughout. My wife had the Chicken Enchilada Plate, and was amazed at the surprising amount of chicken. 5. The Salsa... I asked for a more spicy Salsa... Intertestingly, this was like the one remembered from Cancun decades ago, where I learned heat wasn't the key, flavor was, and this reminded me of that rare experience. Ate all of it. Flavorful, and not that hot so that it covered the flavors... yet in after-taste, ah, there the heat was. Loved it. Will have with all my dishes now.. Spicy hot please. Overall.... Prices were fair. Margarita ($12.95) tasted identical to Costco's margarita mix, carne asada burrito ($10) tough/fatty meat and Taco Tuesday ($2-3.50). Worst part - was charged $1.50 for a second basket of basic chips and had no idea until we got the receipt. Bummer, won't go back. Cannot wait to go back and try more of La Calle's menu! Heard about this place word of mouth and want to pass along the high recommendation :) Made in-house salsas were delicious, torta was super flavorful, service was genuinely friendly (thanks Victoria) and the menu was not overpriced for once. read more

The waiter let us know that everything was made from scratch and that everything is great on the menu. We ordered our food. They screwed up 3 times with the wrong items ordered, we were there for over 1.5 hours (the place was not packed) we were also charged for extra chips which we never asked for nor did they refill. After our experience I thought that being a first time here customer (which he knew) that they would do something for our horrible experience. What an awful experience! Had dinner tonight with my husband and my 15 month old son. Let me just start by saying it was an hour and half meal!!! Very frustrating! My sons food came out cold, we ordered the carne asada dinner plate and received fajitas, we order a crispy carnitas taco, received a street taco and then after sending it back we received a street chicken taco. Then when the bill came out we were charged for items that we did not purchase. It's very frustrating after so many mess ups that nothing was done to accommodate our time or even our bill. My husband and I have been quarantined in our home since the sixth of March, and have been afraid to do takeout anywhere because we couldn't guarantee the safety and sanitization where we ate - until La Calle made a post on Instagram explaining their procedures during this uncertain time. We felt implored to support a local business, but also - I wanted to try their food and margaritas!! Their take-out process was amazing, and SO fast. Our choice in menu items, ranked on a scale of 1-5, 5 being the best: Grande Quesadilla with shredded chicken: 5 stars! A big, hearty quesadilla. We went with chicken for our kids and they loved it! It was more than enough for both of our boys and delicious to boot. Birria Taco: FIVE STARS(I'd give it six honestly). This birria is SO soft and the taco shell was crispy and crunchy even after a 30 minute drive home. The cheese inside was perfectly melted and the consomme was so flavorful. I wish I got more than one. Enchilada Verde plato with shredded chicken: 5 Stars! We enjoyed these with the refried beans. The chicken was so moist and was expertly cooked. The verde salsa was excellent in tandem with the chicken and corn tortillas. Just incredible all around. We aren't big drinkers but I felf compelled to try the mango margarita after seeing it on their Instagram feed and WOO boy. It was SO good, but I can tell these would be dangerous if you were enjoying them in the restaurant. A true mango flavor - nothing artificial about it. We got the guacamole and a side of whole pintos and spanish rice. These were all exactly as my husband remembers his Mom making him. Very comforting and delicious. COVID19: Second time here. But obviously take out in the rain. We ordered Enchiladas, Mexican rice, Mini chimichangas and all came with complimentary housemade chips and salsa. I'm sure it would have been 2stars beyond my 5 star rating if eaten inside. But given the lockdown orders we had to take out. It was all very well prepared and packaged carefully. They made it easy to drive up, pay at the outside podium and receive ton of takeout bags. But wow, food would not disappoint!! My tastes must vary greatly from all these other diners because I was incredibly disappointed in the food here. It was ridiculously bland. The beans and rice had no taste! The chicken taco was watery from the lettuce and shell broke. I also got a birria taco and it was decent ... I'd say mostly because almost anything smothered in cheese can have some taste. If you're a size matters kind of person, the burrito and margarita looked impressive. My partner got the burrito (bland); there is hope though, since it was so big, there were leftovers that we heated in the air fryer the following day and it tasted slightly better. The guacamole is a joke - $8 for about a 1/3c serving, and there is no flavor. Chips were the best part of the visit. Seems like a fine place for socializing, with the nice patio outdoors.
