Last night our order was 100% so maybe they're on top of their game now. If you live nearby, they occasionally send coupons and have some daily specials. This restaurant is located in a very unassuming strip mall. Once you enter the place though, it is bright and colorful with Mexican decor. I have not been in a place this decorated in a long time. It is like if you took every Mexican decor you could think of and barfed it all over the place, it would look like this in the most charming way possible. I have not had Mexican in a while and usually go to taquerias if I do so I was looking forward to this. I started with a margarita on the rocks and it was fine. Not really very strong. I ordered the pastor burrito as it is my favorite meat and I honestly would say that it tasted nothing like any pastor I have previously had but it was edible at least. The rice is a different kind of rice. It's green and I assume it is cilantro rice. All in all, I don't think I would come back given the number of much better Mexican options here in the Phoenix area and almost on every street. No one in the timeframe that we were there even acknowledged our party of 6 and the other party of 2. Most of the tables were filled, so there was no telling what the wait time was. If a reservation is needed, it should be a part of Yelp or on their front door. It is not a big place and that's fine. Maybe they were short on people working last night? We may give this place another try again because we like to support the businesses of families that go to my son's school. I do remember the food being delicious, though. I only ordered 1 fish and 1 shredded chicken (grilled chicken is $1 more) and added rice and beans with mango margarita on patron. The fish taco was on a soft tortilla and the fish was wonderful. This place is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant in Arizona. Most Mexican 'restaurants' in Phoenix are considerably Americanized but at La Casa De Juana they have successfully executed Mexican food. I ordered green Chile chicken enchiladas, the plate was served with rice, beans and a few side greens. The flavor of the food was strong with the right amount of spices that you look for in Mexican food. Every bite was true to what I expected. I also had an horchata which was full of flavor and at the correct consistency. This place is a hidden gem: the outside is quite normal to what you can find in a shopping center in Tempe but the inside was truly so adorable and extremely clean. Another mention is that the service was perfect, they were extremely friendly and they even offered a free horchata to go! In my opinion, this place is a must! read more

It was too crowded to even want to stand in the front. Disappointed no chips or salsa???? Huh? oh, another five bucks if you want that to go. The food was mediocre and very dry, with little green sauce; not sure about what kind of cheese, if it is real cheese or packaged shredded. It might be higher rating if I sat inside, got chips and salsa, and if the enchilada was hot and steamy, smothered in sauce...but, it fell short of acceptable tonight. Waiter came up and gave us stale cold chips that was sitting at the bar by itself. After he took our order, it was another 15 minutes before we got our drinks. We noticed that people who were sitting before us were barely getting their food so we knew that it must be slow. Was initially impressed by the menu since they had a while section for vegetarians but was left disappointed soon after I tasted the food. Such a great find! We came here on Father's Day with another family. It was busy but that did not compromise the great service and food. Everything we ordered was delicious! It tasted like someone added water to stretch it out. it was watery and flavorless. That made me sad but the guacamole was very good. The tamale was good. I could not eat my cheese enchilada. Mine had green sauce and my son's enchilada had red sauce. The sauce was not the problem. My son did not eat his either. And we make enchiladas at home. It is really hard to goof up an enchilada. I love the Cilantro Lime Rice at Abuelos-maybe this is similar? Again, total lack of any flavor. It wasn't bad, wasn't good, just-bland. The refried beans had the correct, slightly runny texture I love. They had a nice pile of white cheese on top, yum. Again, bland-It wasn't bad, wasn't good, just-bland. I think I was figuring out that there seemed to be a total lack of salt. I'm NOT one to like a lot of salt. I never salt anything after cooking. But I think this is the issue-not sure. There's a LOT to like about this cute little place, but I'm not sure I will come back. If the chips were good- well, I'd have at least that. I'm giving it 3 stars for everything else that was SPOT ON - just not the food-to this girls taste. Located within a strip center with lots of leasable space is this Mexican restaurant. I had high hopes because Yelp rated it very highly. I must admit the ambience is adorable. The restaurant is small, but has a fair amount of seating. It's so colorful inside! You will think you have been transported to a cafe in Mexico! The Mexican music adds to the charm. We were served complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were good, but the salsa was really good. Unfortunately, this was the only thing that was really good. It had a nice kick to it and lots of flavor. I ordered Juana's burrito with chicken enchilada style. The chicken was very plain and bland and the enchilada sauce tasted straight from a can. No flavor at all. Plenty of chicken. Rice and beans on the side. The beans were more like a mashed retried bean concoction. I didn't see one bean. Didn't try the rice as I'm not a rice fan. My dining companion had Juana's burrito with carne asada and he had it the big way (All the stuff inside). No complaints there. In addition to your standard burritos, chimichangas, and tacos, they also offer options like sopes and have a small American style menu for those not wishing to eat Mexican food at a Mexican restaurant :). We were seated immediately at a bright, comfortable booth. The decor is very festive and lively, with warm gold and yellow tones echoing throughout the restaurant. I loved the atmosphere, the unique tables, and the vivid, multi-colored cloth napkins. As soon as we were seated we received some chips and salsa. Both were quite good. The salsa was green and was filled with fire roasted green chiles, adding a nice spicy kick to go with the light, crisp chips. We looked through the menu and I decided on a 2 item combination plate ($8.95) with chile relleno and chicken enchilada, and. I also tried some carnitas chimichanga. The chile relleno is a lighter version of what I usually see in restaurants. The poblano chile is not breaded and fried, but still stuffed with cheese. I enjoyed it, as the chile was perfectly cooked with good flavor. The chicken enchilada was filled with shredded white meat chicken. Again, it tasted like a lighter version of what I usually see in most restaurants. The rice was green, which was a unique twist, and had a more delicate flavor. The refried beans were decent, no complaints. The carnitas chimichanga was filled with tender carnitas pork, and I could taste a hint of cumin in the mix. Like the other components of my meal, this dish also had more of a delicate flavor. Service was friendly and cheerful and we were checked on as needed. They also have a breakfast menu that I might like to try some day. Our first table was rather small and upon letting the waitress know that we'd prefer a bigger table she(without a single hassle) helped move us over to a bigger table. We ordered till our hearts content. The good was great, our waitress was amazing. We were even asked by another waitress if everything was good. Customer service was top notch.
