I've been eating at Garcia's for years. It's always been a go to when my family gets together. The problem always lies with the chips and salsa, like any other Mexican restaurant, I can't stop eating them and then I can't eat my meal! The cheese quesadilla is always a go to or even just the cheese crisp. But you can also throw some fajita meat in your quesadilla. The restaurant always seems clean and the staff is always friendly. My parents who were visiting from South Carolina, where I grew up going to Garcia's for special occasion dinners, and my wife came to Garcia's last night as a treat to my mother. Like me, she fondly remembers the dining experiences of my childhood and the extreme nachos appetizer which she likes to order for her meal. Imagine our disappointment when we were barely greeted, the restaurant was almost empty but numerous tables were seemingly unbussed, were slowly seated, and then slowly "greeted" by a server who, according to my receipt was "Carmen" who didn't smile, seemed completely disinterested in being at work, and took our drink order which was slowly delivered, with the bar drinks coming before basic waters for the table. Upon delivery, I questioned my "paloma" which resembled nothing like the picture in the drink menu or the description on the food menu. It was also heavy on lime juice and didn't have much of a grapefruit flavor. While the food was good and of similar quality to our memories, the poor service continued throughout, all the way to the point when "Carmen" cleared the table asking if I wanted a box for my leftover fajitas which was not returned. That's when I realized her inattentiveness and disinterest, and perhaps a slight language barrier to be fair, resulted in my leftovers being discarded. She later brought me a carryout box which I accepted but decided to discard upon exit because the service had been so poor, I could no longer trust the food being delivered by a waitress that seemed frustrated to be at work or serving our table. I feel like a recall an underwhelming experience on a previous visit but nothing compared to last night, but that might explain why we only think of Garcia's when my parents visit. Based on our experience with "Carmen", I can understand how empty the restaurant seemed so empty and underwhelming. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I ordered a lunch delivery from this Garcia's because it was relatively close and the delivery time was pretty quick. I ordered a two item plate that came with one side. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito and a shredded beef taco, along with fried ice cream. I received an enchilada and a burrito that I couldn't eat and no fried ice cream at all. There was also bean dip in the bag, which was moderately warm, but overall pretty icky. I was beyond disappointed because I was really looking forward to the fried ice cream above anything, and I didn't get it. I was also disappointed in the quality of the food I did receive, too... the whole thing was an inedible mess. Luckily, I ordered through a third party so my money was credited back. If you feel like not getting what you ordered, I guess give this place a try. Otherwise, steer clear. read more

My first time to this local chain restaurant and It won't be my past. Dani my server was fun, professional and friendly. Really made you feel comfortable in this family style mexican restaurant. Went for lunch with 11 co-workers around 12:30p. We made a reservation and our table was ready immediately. The waitress was prompt at taking our drink order and the complementary chips and salsa came quickly. We all placed our order at the same time and all but one dish arrived at the same time, the last one came about 5 mins after the last person received their dish on the table. The good tasted good. I'm not a Mexican food expert by any means and while some of coworkers were not impressed, it was good to me. The ambiance of the restaurant was your typical Mexican theme. Went there for one or two of their world famous Magnifico Margaritas! Dani was the bartender . The bar was busy but she kept everyone laughing with her quick whit and jokes. She makes an excellent drink . We ordered food and as usual it was piping hot and delicious. Hands down the most entertaining bartender I've seen for a long time. read more

I want to love this place but I just don't. The food is ok not terrible. Even the chips and salsa I have to rate below average. I thought the bean dip was good but then the second bowl had a weird taste. I got relleno and green corn tamale which are my two favs so I was excited to see that on the combo menu. The Diet Pepsi was tough to swallow even with lots of lemons. I will say we had a supper nice server I would say this place is one notch above Manuel's but barely if you like that place you will love it here. Just because there's a cook that may be of Spanish heritage doesn't mean they can cook. Service is fair, and plenty of room for improvement. Ambiance 1 STAR!!! It pains me to leave poor reviews but we did not have a good experience. Waited 20 minutes to place our order. I am pretty sure the seafood enchilada ordered was on flour tortilla not corn(gluten intolerance). The server forgot my strawberry daiquiri and my husband's chicken tortilla soup was cold. Have you ever had or heard of an Arizona Cheese Crisp? It's a thing. Google it. They're cheesy and they're delicious. And you can order a cheese crisp here at Garcia's! We ordered a Cheese Crisp, Enchilada Especial, a Michelada, another fruity drink I forgot the name of, and the Tampico Chicken. If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen the insane cheese drag I got lifting the first slice of cheese crisp off the pan. The taste? Just like a hot piece of Heaven on a crispy tortilla! I had the Enchilada Especial and it was good. We're talking juicy chicken, a robust flavorful green sauce, and topped with some jalapeño cream cheese that tasted nothing of jalapeño. A small helping of beans and rice were served on the side and it was decent. This place brings you complimentary chips, bean dip, and salsa as soon as you sit so you know you're gonna have a great meal. Come to Garcia's! Doggone it! I wanted Garcia's to be great. It's a neighborhood restaurant that attracts lots of locals, so I thought, surely, the food was good. We went early so we could enjoy the covered outdoor patio, which is shady and quiet - perfect for conversation. The margaritas were good; the beer was cold. But soon a 2-piece "band" arrived and beginning at 6 pm, the music was so loud that even the server couldn't hear us give our order... and she was standing right beside me! We asked 2 different servers more than twice to request they turn down the amps - to no avail. As I looked around the patio, a table of 2 gals were listening to music... the rest of the diners were trying to talk. Bottom line: Food was bland. Music was deafaning. And it was good music, too! My wife and I have eaten at this restaurant on the the Corner of Mclintock and Warner several times. Always have had great service, and the restaurant, is quaint, in a Mexican kind of way, it is small, but quiet. The food is always good, and never have a bad meal. Till this last time. I ordered off the appetizer menu. Thinking it would be small, well it was enough for 3 or 4 people. I ordered the nachos, with shredded beef. It arrived burnt. My idea of nachos is a creamy cheese sauce. This was not that, was just overly melted cheese that made to the chips soggy. This was the worse meal I ever had at Garcia's. Do yourself a favor and order any thing else on the menu. read more

ACCOUNTABILITY. I was there Sunday 7/28 at 2:15 pm to pick up a DoorDash order. It's the slow time between lunch and dinner so I'm assuming they only had a host, bartender/manager, and one server maybe. I walked in to a few tables of people eating but no staff, went to the bathroom, still no one at the front and the DoorDash i-pad is still dinging loudly. As I was there to pick up a DoorDash order. I went to the bar and finally spoke to the bartender who lied and said the girl was "working on it" in the back and to look for her. Okay don't know what she looks like but yeah the girl with "to go" bags. She comes out with bags, not mine. I ask about my order she turns around and says "uhmmmmm yeah like 2 minutes... (pause) maybe 3." I realize that for sure i am just being told whatever. I just look directly at her and ask her "okay but could you please go and check" (keep in mind i just want to tell the customer how long i will be at the store as they can see where i am at) The bar tender or manager comes up to the front not realizing it was me and continues to recite excuses about how he hates DoorDash and that the drivers show up too soon. I was complaining that no matter what the restaurant almost everyone always says "it'll be a couple minutes" when it's OBVIOUS that they didn't go check. Why i care about this. I have made working in restaurants my career for the last 20 years (I'm 35 and have worked everything from busser to GM). I know that the DoorDash i pad going off is annoying and that sometimes you can't put the order in on time because you forgot or were too busy. SHE SAID 2 maybe 3 minutes!!!! HE SAID AFTER POINTING OUT MY ATTITUDE THAT IT WAS A LARGE ORDR AND "TO MAKE MYSELF COMFORTABLE". And yes when he said "ThIS AtTiTuDe isn't getting you anywhere" while gently waving his hand in my direction. MY ATTITUDE WAS CONSISTENT OF SOMEONE BEING BLATANTLY LIED TO. I was calmly telling him that they are lying without straight up saying "lie". I started off explaining to him that everyone is negligent to delivery people. But he and his staff ARE THE PROBLEM. Bottom line. If you say 2 minutes and i message the customer and i don't leave the store for another 10-15 minutes. The customer is mad. Because now im the one not giving accurate times. DoorDash lets you unassign with no penalty if it's going to take too long. Which is what I did, and if the staff wasn't ALL HIDING in the back I would have politely let them know that someone else will be in to grab that order. I have more respect from someone that says "hey i just put that in let me go get an actual time for you and here please enjoy this water, okay it's exactly 7 minutes out.... " EASY!! Don't even have to apologize if you're telling the truth. Would have dined here before but the taste in my mouth is soooo bad from the staff ... shame. read more

We came in a group of 7 and were seated immediately to an ample table toward the back. I chose the tortilla soup as lunch entree. I know Garcias is not the place for highly seasoned authentic Mexican fare and this indeed was the case. The complimentary chips came warm, a plus! The salsas were mild and I was craving a bit of heat so I asked for a hotter salsa, which was a bit more pepper forward but not much. When my soup came I caved to a bottle of Cholula, which did the trick. The soup was filled with chicken, tortilla strips, avocado slice and all the usual staple items of soup. I added a tablespoon of cholula to give it some authority and then it was fine. Service was prompt and efficient. The ambiance was fine... tiled floors, the predicted painting of a cactus on the wall. I know it's a chain and there's sadly little room for local artists. I did polish off all the soup and a bowl of chips and salsa. read more

As a SoCal kid, my family invariably enjoyed a restaurant called "Acapulco's" every Sunday after church. Sadly, the chain went out of business several years ago, and it is missed. While there is no shortage of awesome Mexican food restaurants in SoCal, we've been on the lookout for something that might replace those pastoral days enjoyed as a family, dredging through the chips and salsa, ordering off-menu items made special for us by the chefs, and with amazing service. On one of our frequent long family road trips, we happened by Garcia's just about the time our family was feeling peckish... and a nice sit-down Mexican food restaurant sounded good. Yelp offered up plenty of stars upon our cursory examination, and we parked and headed in. We were greeted by a friendly hostess, and seated quickly. There is something to say for a smile... it cures most problems in a restaurant... it contributes to compassion and patience for patrons, and it somehow makes the food taste better. ... Not that they need it here. The kids enjoyed the cheese enchilladas as much as I enjoyed my chile verde. Everything comes with plenty of rice and beans, and the guacamole can't be beat. ... Unless you're into dessert, and then the awesome dinner is eclipsed by the freshest and tastiest buñuelos I've enjoyed in a long time. Too bad we're so far away from our friends in AZ... this place would be on the regular rotation. Alas, we'll have to settle for the occasional visit as we scream through town to points unknown. read more

Tonight when we arrived at Garcia's I noticed a sign asking people to post reviews, so here I am. We usually really enjoy going here but tonight we ended up leaving to go to a different Mexican restaurant. They were pretty busy when the 3 of us walked in so we expected there would be a wait, but we weren't expecting this: The hostess told us to follow her then halfway into the dining room stopped and told us there weren't any tables. She asked if we wanted to sit outside.... it was in the low 50s tonight so we said no. Then she offered us seating at the bar... I'm an old woman hobbling along with a cane and unable to get up on a stool, so we said no. We asked how long the wait would be and she told us 15 to 20 minutes. THEN she said, "I'll go look for a table." She quickly came back and said there were no tables. We asked her about the empty booth right next to the hostess stand. SHe looked at it and then told us we couldn't have it because it was being saved for larger parties. Folks, it was a normal 4 person booth and we were a group of 3 so she wouldn't let us have it.
