Best Menudo EVER!! Not only do I say that, my Mexican wife agrees. Close to the 10 and 15 interchange. 10 east, exit Cherry, north on Cherry right on Valley. Well worth the trip.

First time here and we are definitely coming back! Everything was delicious and they served a hearty portion of everything.

Huevos a la mexicana. Good portions and tasty. Beans and rice were good.

This was just meh. Not great and not bad. I came here thinking authentic Mexican and was surprised when I got my huevos rancheros with just a bunch of tomato and onion on top (oh, there were a few jalapeño slices also). Completely missed in my opinion. Where was the ranchera sauce? On a positive note, the beans were delicious. Rice was ok but a little bland. My husband had the huevos a la mexicana and he enjoyed that. The service was great. Our waitress was friendly and welcoming. One suggestion for the owner. PLEASE change from those gross old red plastic restaurant cups. No matter how clean they are, they don't look clean and they retain the smell of food and soap.

    Caldo de res

Food was horrible, ordered small caldo de res lady came back with a peace of bone and 3 small peaces of hard meat, broth taste like water and salt. I asked her to take it back it was not edible. She replied by telling me that other customers haven't complained about flavor. I did tell her maybe because they are too embarrassed but I was not about to pay 15.99 for a broth that taste like water and salt, my husband had torta de asada looked better than wha it taste. Another thing I noticed they had 3 empty tables with hot food they kept taking plates with food to does tables and we kept waiting for our food for over 20minutes. They have customers calling in their orders preparing their food while customers that are at the tables are waiting. Never seen this done at any other restaurant before. I do not recommend this restaurant at ALL. And by the way the owner said to NOT RETURN TO HER RESTAURANT.

The service here at this whole in the wall place was subpar. At times, you had to practically raise your hand like in a classroom just to get the waitress attention. The good looked good but was average. The chile verde was good but it looked like chile colorado instead.

Well, it all started in the morning when we always craving pozole. It was July 4th so the place in Fontana that I normally buy was closed so I tried this place. I made the order and I drove and got it. Definitely driving up to a house so that was nice. Limited parking in the front not so much. We got the food and took it home. My husband had it and said it was Okay. I tried it and it wasn't okay. Sauce too thick. And tasted like enchilada sauce. So I don't think we'll go there for pozole again. And it was expensive too for 1 person.

Is the Downtown Riverside location closed?

We are not affiliated to the restaurant in Riverside. We are in Fontana. I believe the restaurant in Riverside is called Doña Timo's La Cascada but I cannot confirm either information.

I was there enjoying them with a beer and good conversation. We were taking our time eating and enjoying our drinks; the aguachiles were not the only thing on our table. While we were still eating, someone from the kitchen came out and asked if he could take our plate. We politely said no thank you because we were still working on it. A few minutes later he came back and insisted on taking the plate, saying something along the lines of, "A clean table makes a consumer buy more," but the way it was said came across as rude and made us feel rushed. If the plate had been mostly empty, with just a couple of pieces left, I would have completely understood. But that wasn't the case -- I had only eaten about 2-3 shrimp out of a dozen. I shared how I felt, explaining that I understood clearing finished plates, but we were clearly not done. His response was dismissive and he walked away. The food had potential, and the aguachiles had good flavor, but the service experience left me disappointed. Sometimes giving guests a little time to enjoy their meal, conversation, and drinks makes a bigger difference than having a perfectly cleared table.

I cannot believe I have never written a review for El Chilitos Mexican Restaurant. It's our go-to…read morefor Mexican take-out and yes, we order take-out once or twice a month, which in our house translates to "no cooking." What I always order (and I'm boringly consistent) is Two hard shell shredded beef tacos with rice and beans. The tacos always arrive with the perfect amount of meat, crisp lettuce, and a tasty amount of cheese. The shell stays crispy and never turns into a soggy tortilla which is a win! Rice is fluffy and well seasoned. The Beans are creamy, savory, and basically soul-warming! I can never finish the beans the portions are good. The Hubby gets the carne asada burrito, which is so huge it could double as a pillow after a long day. He swears it's delicious and I've "sampled" a bite and yes, the flavor is there, very satisfying. Chips and salsa come complimentary even with to-go orders! It's around $32 for my taco plate and the carne asada burrito is a bit more but you're getting a lot of goodness for your bucks. We always order take-out, and somehow - somehow - the food lands back home still warm. Magic? Maybe! We've never eaten in so I can't speak to the dine-in vibe. Reason being it is a tiny restaurant but it always looks clean and has a sitting area for to-go orders. My only tiny gripe when we call to place an order, there are moments where I'm on hold while the staff seem to have a full-blown conversation. Ten minutes later, they remember I'm on the line. It's not a deal breaker, just a "huh, okay" moment I file under "worth the wait for the fix." Bottom line: Expect satisfaction from El Chilitos. It's my dependable, no-surprises, "I'm craving comfort Mexican food" go-to. Consistent quality, reliable flavors, and a taxi-cab of a burrito. My pictures are horrible but I promise to eat there again and share more!

When ordering the lady asked my boyfriend if he was okay with cilantro, onions, rice okay in the burrito and he omitted the beans. One thing she never asked is we wanted hotsauce on the food. Because when I got my tacos and he got his burrito, it had hotsauce. I think this is something they should ask if you want when you are ordering. What if someone is ordering for a kid and they don't like hotsauce. I say this cos I don't like hotsauce. My boyfriend had to bring to back and they have new tacos with no hotsauce. Another thing that is a hit or miss here are the chicharon. Our chicharon was both crunchy and soft. I noticed it depends what time of day you go and you also know by how much chicharon they have left (you can see it on the display). I like how they have the toppings in a little bar where you can get (hot sauce, pickled jalapeños, cilantro and onions). It is a small restaurant. They have some seats indoor and outdoor. And they even have a tortilla lady in the corner making fresh tortillas.

The tacos are really good and packed with flavor, and the burritos are just as solid, big portions that actually fill you up without feeling overpriced. You definitely get your money's worth here, which is hard to find these days. One of the best parts is the salsa bar. They have a good variety of salsas, and all of them taste fresh and delicious, not watered down like some places. You can really customize your food depending on how spicy you like it. The only downside is there's no kids menu, so it might be tough if you have really picky eaters. But if you're just looking for good tacos, good burritos, fair prices, and a taco spot to grab a quick meal, this place is definitely worth checking out.
