We were visiting some friends here from out of town and came out here on their recommendation. It is your standard Tex-Mex space. There is a wrap around bar in the center with two dining rooms on bith sides and a patio. I started off with a cucumber margarita and my wife and daughter got a jumbo classic Rita and strawberry lemonade. Our friends ordered some queso for the whole table. The menu is vast and went to my go to with the fajitas Mexicana. These were different in that they came with a load of poblanos and onions. There is no price on the menu, all it says is mkt. I asked what the price was and she indicated it was $25 for 1. Now I don't have problem paying for this but when you send out beef and try to pass it off as skirt steak and charge a premium for it you are cheating the guest! What they sent out was not skirt steak, it was sliced wafer thin to appear you are getting alot. What I did get was an overload of peppers and onions. I also had to ask for the chicken soup that came with the dinner. Service was OK. I can't speak on the other menu items but can tell you that my wife enjoyed her quesadillas and our daughter said her birria tacos were so-so. Overall probably won't be back. read more

The service was decent. I had some good waitresses. I had two people serve my table but I must admit I felt rushed to eat. La casona is always busy and I've never seen it not busy it's definitely a popular spot for locals. If you're looking for Tex Mex food this is the spot to go compared to your other popular local restaurant. Even though it's busy the service has always been good and constant. The ambiance is upbeat and busy with your classic Latino/mexican music playing in the background. I will admit the food is a bit of a hit or miss at times but it's still good enough to eat. They do have free ice cream which is always a treat to have after dinner but last time I went the vanilla ice cream tasted like caramel so I don't know what the issue was there,but I still ate it cause it reminded me of a worthers caramel. read more

On their menu: beans, ground meat, chili con queso, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and guacamole with chips. Perfect. Except it wasn't. Upon opening the containers, there were no beans. My wife and I ordered fajitas for two from LA Casona through Doordash (over $60). The order came with only 3 tortillas and none of the side fixings. When we called and spoke to a Manager he refused to help because he could not locate the order number. Very disappointing. It's extremely loud and too much activity. If you're going out and expecting to experience a quiet dinner this not the best place. Although we do enjoy coming when we have a large group! This place was recommended to me by a realtor and it was so good I had to thank her for it. Place looked nice and festive and all servers were excellent. Salsa had a nice bite to it. I ordered my usual test meal of cheese enchiladas and they were so good; just like I like them, kind of old school, traditional style with lots of flavor. Beans and rice were tasty too. My husband ordered the stuffed avacado and said it was really good but the big surprise that he didn't realize was included, was beef fajita in a flour tortilla. Taco al carbon, maybe? I never order beef because I am very picky about that. He insisted I had to taste it and it was as tender and well seasoned as I have ever had anywhere. La Casona has been a staple in Lake Jackson for well over a couple decades. Now I believe. Although we lost the original in a fire, it came back even better and stronger than ever. It's located back behind some of the shopping in Lake Jackson around the corner from the Home Depot, that's all just off of Highway 332 about a half to 3/4 of a mile. There's ample parking either directly in front of the restaurant or there's an extra parking overflow next door as well. There is a lot of seating on the inside whether you're in a group of two or a group of 20 they will accommodate you. There's also a pool bar with lots of TVs, as well as TVs, and other places of the restaurant in case you want to watch a game and eat with your friends or family. the menu is extensive and you could always get something new even if you went there probably hundreds of times. Are usually go for the fajitas although this time I got the Carne tempequeña (sp?) which is a 6 ounce flat steak with a cheese, enchilada, rice, and beans, guacamole, and pico de gallo on the side. I went with my dad and my oldest son I believe my dad ordered a shrimp dinner, Tampico (?). My son ordered chicken quesadillas. We got some queso Blanco beforehand. It's a good amount of cheese as well as a good amount of green chilies inside of it, and had a good flavor to it. A little runny, when it first came out, but it taste as good, and of course, it started to thicken the longer it sat on the table. Whether you are in the restaurant or pick up, the food never disappoints! We always get Queso and chips, my signature favorite is the Carne Guisada with a side of flour tortillas, my partner enjoys the Bonita and my daughter loves the kids quesadillas. This was so good. We are on vacation and decided to stop here for lunch. We usually order our toddlers food as soon as possible so there is no significant wait and fussiness, there really was no need here! We ordered the kid quesadilla and it was out in 5 minutes. La Casona has always been a solid Mexican Restaurant to eat at, no matter which location you visited. They have great salsa, and a wide variety of delicious choices on their menu. They offer a full bar for your adult beverage choices and they offer a free ice cream cone for all who wish to indulge. This location had burnt down and the rebuild is extremely nice with indoor, outdoor, or bar dining options. The dining room is clean, the staff is very friendly, and the service is spot on. I would dare to say this is THE best Tex Mex in the area. Their signature jalapeño fajitas is one of their best dishes and even their house Margarita is spot on. Be warmed -they can sneak up on you! Our first night back in Texas with family was supposed to be a celebration, and we all agreed on Tex-Mex. Our experience dining recently at La Casona was extremely poor. Our family dinner was served quickly and expertly by considerate wait staff, and that was the best part of the meal! All of our plates were colorless, tasteless, accompanied with greasy, liquid cheese product, cold rice and pale, tasteless refried beans. The restaurant should not be able to call themselves a Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant. I'm not even sure if you can call what we eat that night food. My advice in a nutshell: stay away.
