I had to come back here some months back last year with an old friend of mine, and had realized that there was a long line going down the block, and once being inquired and found out what the line was for we ended up originally going inside for only beer, but after having talked with the cashier and telling us exactly what was going on, she put us at the front of the line and had allowed myself and my friend to each consume three tacos, which honestly were delicious and flavorful, and for the price that they were offering after this special day that they were throwing for the community, I have been here before and I came back again with my cousin a few months later. There's music and the place is clean. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The pizza is made fresh and hot and the tacos are a dollar a pop. Are you serious?!! And I think a slice of pizza was about 3 to 4 dollars and honestly if you're in Chicano park/Barrio Logan, and need something to fill your gut without hitting your wallet. Definitely come to this place. You can get your drinks your snacks and a hot pizza meal! This place is incredible. This review is specifically for the $0.99 tacos advertised on the market's exterior facade. My friend and I decided to try them out and ordered 2 each, carne asada and adobado. I give the tacos a total score of 3.1/5 stars, the service at the market a 3.2/5, and the atmosphere a 3.3/5. The guy behind the deli counter making the tacos was mostly just functional. He was a bit gruff and short, but did his job decently enough and was quick. The meat wasn't great, but it wasn't bad or chewy either. It was decently seasoned and had an OK cook on it. The salsas were decent, too. Flavor profile kinda of mid-range, but some heat and tang there. It was hard to properly rate this because, on the one hand, these tacos are $0.99, which is probably the lowest price point on tacos in San Diego. At that price, these are godly. But also, that alone would be slightly misleading, since it wouldn't focus enough on the barefaced quality and ingredients. read more

This market presents as a convenience store, but it has a restaurant in it. I had three Pollo asado tacos. It seems they always have a $1.00 taco deal going on. The tacos were full of flavor seasoned to perfection. The staff is very friendly and, both, the restaurant and store were very clean. Their tacos are very good for $.99. Quality. Seems really good. Sometimes it could be greasy. During the summer it can get very hot in there. I don't know how the employees can work there in the Summer. It is very uncomfortable when it's hot and there is flies. The only thing I don't like about here when they don't answer the phone or when they answer the phone put you on hold and they forget about you. read more

Do not rent a U-Haul here. My spouse and I booked a U-Haul truck, when we arrived to pick it up we were told there were no more trucks. They had one van, we were desperate so we rented that. The store itself is gross and smells, and I saw multiple roaches while waiting. We were given the key on a U-Haul keychain that had been snapped in half. When we got in the van we noticed immediately it had not been cleaned after the last rental as there was food trash and clothing inside, as well as something melted to the dashboard that looked like chocolate or gravy. The passenger seat was covered in white dog hair. The next day, I went in to return the key. We dropped it off early with replenished gas. I handed the key to Peter, the employee behind the counter. He said "You broke this, we are going to charge you for it." And held up the snapped in half keychain. I explained it was given to us like that and he called me a liar and said he would call his coworker to confirm that I broke it.. I told him I thought it was rich that he cared so much about the keychain, but not the disgusting state of the vehicles they rent, or their roach infested convenience store. I have opened a complaint with U-Haul, but seriously, avoid this place! read more

Not gonna lie, up until a few years ago I'd never spent much time in Bario Logan/Logan Heights, but as I started going to 2 Roses I became familiar and comfortable there. Some really cool M/P Shops and super authenticity because if I recall it's the oldest of the Mexican Bario's in SD. La Central Market is centrally situated right across the street from Chicano Park and just under the tail end of the Coronado Bridge. I know many will read this and see Bario and think shady, ghetto, but I find this place really great, aside from some homeless in the area that occasionally trouble you. First off they just remodeled it and they have a good liquor selection and prices. Everything you'd expect here as well as some knockoff Mexican branded stuff. Don't be fooled the food is good. Carne Asada is legit, a tad on the dry side, but it's the antithesis of San Diego Mexican. Quesadilla could use some polish, but as you realize where your at your not looking for guacamole and a huge salsa bar. Yeah used to have Porkyland down the way along with a slew of Mexican shacks in the area, but unless your craving something more specialized, getting some taco's or burrito's here is about as good as it gets. They do a bean and cheese that is the bees knees, but probably too much for the del taco crowd, heck even a bit too much for the El Camino sit down crowd. read more

April 6th My kids and I were at the park closer to dinner time it's Friday why not pizza! The stores nice inside friendly customer service from the young lady at the register. Would come back to the store. Now the pizza on the other hand that man that was there that day YUK FACE no customer service. I said hello I'm going to order a pizza Mexicana no jalapenos please. (Kids) no response blank grumpy cat face. I said thank you and walked to the register feeling like WTF not mad just what's up with that guy. Ayy dios mio! After walking around Chicano Park we worked up a thirst and decided to stop in. Outside they have beautiful art done by local graff artists as well as posters letting you know their special including a 5$ pizza! We walked in and I thought I was totally in my tias market in Mexico. They have an assortment of Mexican candies like the De La Rosa marzapan, tamarindo, and a bunch of other goodies! They also have other Mexican snacks like chicharonnes and takis! They have a large assortment of beverages including Coca Mexicana! A large 1litre was 1.89!! Hella cheap! In addition to the snack and what not they also have a kitchen area that cranks out hella yummy looking pizzas! I saw the menu some what and they have tacos, tortas, and other food. The pizza seriously looked hella bomb alas we were going to eat another place prior to coming home to Vegas. Buuut a slice is .93cents and a full pizza is 5$!!! I saw a man waiting for his pizza and another man carrying 2 with him to his work truck! They have to be good! I love local spots so I will def be back to try that pizza, they even have a carne asada one for 10.99! One cool thing is I saw a couple of people coming in for a single egg!! LOL! The best fast mexican food on the block!!! Try the rolled tacos and shrimp burritos! Everything is made from scratch!!!! Homestyle! From fried rice to TJ style tacos! BBQ ribs, Seafood (even oysters)!!! DELICIOUS!!!!!!!! Not comparable to any typical restaurant I have come accross. Roach coach meets taco shop meets market! Its very weird, dont expect luxury. I work in the area, and needed a particular hard to find grocery item at the last minute for a special event. First, wonderful that they carry Solar Rain bottled water. Locally produced, innovative bottled water product (check it out). I called ahead, they had it and set it aside for me (2 cases). They have a private parking lot, it was super convenient, and for anyone who knows Barrio, you know what the parking is like. They were so helpful and incredibly friendly, carried everything to my car and just made the whole experience delightful. Happy to have found the market and will come back, and recommend frequently. Love the pizza here (seriously!!)... I think it's like $.92 for a slice, and my boyfriend and I lived across the street for a couple years and we would regularly grab a slice, a soda and hang in the park or watch the guys play basketball. The whole pizza is $5 and AMAZING... my parents came to visit from the midwest and were totally blown away by the price and taste of the food that came out of this little ghetto-mart. I was really hoping for better. The reviews are pretty solid, especially for the quality of the meat. But that was the most dissapointing part. The carne asada was really dry and flavorless, the carnitas was also flavorless although actually well cooked, and the al pastor was good not great. The tacos are stuffed full of meat so that is good. I guess it was really about what I would expect from a taco shop in a liquor store under the Coronado bridge.
