I've always driven by this place but I've never gone until today. First off I love how awesome they're decorated the place with loteria artwork. Freakin cute. Then they have indoor and outdoor seating. My friends ordered thier basic michelada, nachos and a torta. Nachos were enough for threee people. However they weren't that great. I've tried better nachos and for what we paid I should've gotten something else to eat. The Tortas were ok as well. (The food isn't all that good) They only serve beer and wine here. The best micheladas in Los Angeles - hands down. I can't tell you how many watered down experiences I've had while trying to find something better than what I can make at home. La Chuperia has these amazing recipes that are very complex and full of flavor. And they also sell their Miche Mix so you can experiment at home! They definitely love to add their own spin on classic Mexican bar dishes. You can order a tapas style or family style. My favorite is definitely the Chuper Fries! They have plenty of parking nearby on the street as well as their own parking lot. Just watch out for the meters and parking signs to make sure. They have outdoor seating which is perfect right now and they also do take out! I liked the ambiance, and the service and food were great, but they insisted on playing very loud RAP music the whole time I was there and wouldn't change or turn off the music. We came here oftentimes after class when we just want a drink or some appetizers. After coming a few times we were not impressed with the nachos, tacos, burritos and chips. At the beginning I didn't want to come here but my friend is determined to show me new places in town so I gave in. La Chuperia is definitely a hidden gem. We found this place by chance after a day at the museum. From the outside it doesn't look like much but inside has all the vibes. The lights are low with natural light coming from the windows. There's a bar and tables spaced out. There's aldo a back area that you could see although it wasn't open. We ordered a few spicy margaritas, a pizza, and tacos. I could have honestly ordered another round of food but we stayed for the delicious drinks. It was the right amount of alcohol and enough spice. This place has pretty decent micheladas. I've tried both the watermelon and regular miche and they're yummy but idk I just feel like the watermelon one is missing something in their mix.. I taste more beer rather than a balance of michelada mix and beer. The regular one is delicious and better in my opinion. Definite hole in the wall type place. You pay for your food and drinks at the register, and they bring it out for you. There's a limited selection on the menu, not many choices. This is a super cute hole in the wall michelada spot. It's really tiny & the micheladas are delicious! They are more in the pricer range ($13 for one) & I believe $6 for a beer. One of the few bars in the area, even though they only serve beer and wine. It is fairly inconspicuous and you can easily miss it while you're driving though, although recently they've been adding more exterior lights and also have a bouncer guy outside occasionally. It's a pretty no-frills place that stakes it's name on their micheladas, which are in fact pretty good. So thats cool. They have several varieties to choose from including your standard mexican (modelo, pacifico etc) and then they jam they jam the bottle upside down into a margarita cup filed with the miche mix and then they slather the whole thing in chamoy and hot sauce and like 2 shrimp. When I say slather I mean it, the entire outside of the margarita glass and the bottle of beer is also covered in sauce, careful with white clothes! The standard miche is good.... but since it's summer they have 2 other miche's that you should know about and try.... the Watermelon Miche, with a slice of watermelon and a Hell or Highwatermelon beer....(refreshing for sure and different) And they also have a Mango Miche! (this one is the BOSSSSS!) They use a mango beer (I forget which one, i wanna say Golden Road) then there's chunks of Mangos and come on now mango and chamoy and beer!.... sounds crazy but It works and it's delicious. The seating is kinda weird, especially outside cause the tables have mismatched heights with the chairs, so lots of awkward spacing. I've only had the Nachos (vegetarian mind you) and they were ok, they gave us a massive portion when we ordered it. Their overall beer selection is quite limited and for a craft beer bar I find it a bit strange that they don't allow tasters...... but they only had like 7 beers on tap last time, so I guess it's a pretty limited beer menu (although they seemed to have bottles of other stuff.) If you want to impress your date or some of your friends order a Chuper Ballena (it means like whale in Spanish). They do a miche with a 32 oz bottle of Corona or Modelo, that thing looks ridiculous but it's a way better deal @ $19 dollars since it's 2.5 times bigger than a standard miche. read more

I've been here one other time before Covid. The food and service before was great and the micheladas are delicious! Last night was my friend's birthday so he wanted to go grab drinks. We started out at a restaurant in the IE area but it seemed like everyone else had the same idea because the wait was going to be 2 hours. So we remembered this place and everyone didn't mind the drive to LA. As we get there we notice there's a line to get seated, then there's a line to order. We decided to stay since we drove all the way down there but if we would've known it was going to take even longer than the other restaurant we would've just stayed where we started. I understand due to Covid there's new procedures that need to be taken place but everything seems to take wayyyyy longer than it needed to. The tacos get a 1 star from me. The chips and salsa are delicious but the salsa is way too spicy to enjoy. And I'm Thai saying this. They should offer a more mild option. The nachos offered are extremely marked up for what it is. They offer nacho platters for a party of 3. No small options. Again, not very convenient for a single or two people coming to grab beers and some nachos. As for as service goes, it's very slow. There's one register to take in orders which isn't at all efficient. We had to add more money in the meter since the line was so long. I would recommend they get another POS system. I'm not in the restauranteur or bar business but seating is very limited. I came early in the evening on a weekday and it was hard to get sitting. Would recommend they try and offer additional seating options. Parking: DO NOT PARK AT JACK N BOX. They will tow your car. No drink in this world is worth the hassle of getting your car towed. La Chuperia is located across the street from LAC+USC Medical Center. Lacking exterior signage, this inconspicuous gem is exactly what I seek in a dive bar. We walked into the dark and narrow entrance. Directly ahead was a digital jukebox. Small tables with wooden barrels, that served as seating, lined the right side. To the left is a long bar where we placed our orders. I ordered a vegetarian torta and the Chuper Nachos to share. We took a table in the back that had a partially covered patio area. It was long enough for our group of eight, but there were thick posts that divided us into two groups of four. The Dodger game was replaying from the night before. I perused the jukebox, but only played one song after realizing it was $1 per track. The bathrooms were to the left of the kitchen and were pretty clean during our afternoon visit. Before too long, our friendly bartender was serving up the novelty micheladas. Jumbo shrimp and stalks of celery, both dripping in Tapatio, adorned the glasses. Then came our nachos. A platter of house made chips came with a decorative drizzle of crema over huge chunks of avocado. Not quite melted shredded cheese was generously sprinkled over pinto beans, which I suspect was also house made. Delivery of the festive looking dish prompted the other half of our group to split an order for themselves. Tortas were last to arrive. They came on the softest bolillo bread, but I found my sandwich to be a little lacking in the amount of ingredients. The beans were very tasty, I just didn't have enough. It seemed more bready than anything else. The salsa was flavorful, but mild, and tortas came with a side of pickled jalapenos for additional heat.
