A really great sit down restaurant with a very mellow vibe. Once I got there, most of the people who were 60 years old and older. But don't let that stop you, the food is of the highest quality and cooked perfectly. I went with Lamb Chops that came with broccoli and basmati rice. I cannot remember the sauce that was one the lamb but it was amazing too. Finished dinner off with a molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and strawberries. The whole dinner was exceptional and if I'm back in town, I will definitely be coming back to try the Fois Gras too. read more

Concerned about Covid precautions? This is the place for you. Don't be alarmed by the Delray Beach address. This is NOT on Atlantic Ave. Dined there on 3/31/21. They have set up an outside open tent. They only seat parties up to 4. The tables were VERY far apart. The food was superb and the service was excellent. Certainly not cheap but well worth it. The bronzini was the best I've ever tasted. Lemon tart dessert was delicious. I am giving 4 stars because I think the "whipped cream" served with the tart wasn't real whipped cream. It tasted a bit like cool whip, which is disappointing for a fine French restaurant. I am looking forward to returning. read more

I made reservations for dinner here about 1 1/2 weeks in advance and when we arrived, we had to wait. I don't mind waiting for a while but they had us waiting for 20 minutes, when they finally decided to "open another room". The room we were seated in only had 2 tables and actually seemed like a hallway between 2 actual rooms. Whatever, as long as the food and service are good. Well, it took a bit for the service, but eventually they came and then the service was okay. We ordered a variety of foods and drinks and everything was good, but not great. I was very, very disappointed especially since this is a rather expensive restaurant. I feel that for the prices they charged, the food, drink and service should be excellent. I was not a fan of the atmosphere of the place either. It was loud, crowded and had ZERO ambiance. I tend to think it may have just been an off night, since they have been there for a while and so many people seem to like it, but it really turned me off and I won't be rushing back. There are many, many more choices in that area and if I am going to pay those prices, I don't want to be let down. read more

Fantastic service, great food, perfect for a celebration dinner. Treated my husband here for his birthday dinner. This fine dining French Mediterranean restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way. The service was attentive, personal, and welcoming. We truly felt like we were appreciated. Hubby ordered the seafood crepes -- flavorful and filling. I ordered the sea scallops -- grilled EXACTLY how they should be. Both of our entrees included spinach that was sauteed just right. I can't say enough about how flavorful everything was. Keep in mind this place is not for everyday dining. It's on the spendy side -- perfect for celebrating an occasion. Between the two of us, we ordered 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 1 dessert, and 1 coffee -- no wine or beer or liquor of any sort. Our bill came to $107, but we had a $25 Restaurant.com certificate. A 20% gratuity was built in, but I must say it was well-deserved, and we would have tipped that anyhow. Loved this place! We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and it was a delight. The frog legs were delicious as well as the foie gras, escargots and mussels. Every course was served by a different person and NO one knew where the platters were supposed to go, we had to tell them who ordered what. The maitre'd paid very little attention to the tables. My date and I were driving up to Atlantic Ave and just happened to pass by this place. Being that it was almost 10 pm, we checked to see if they were serving and they were. We walked in and were graciously greeted by the host who sat us and our waiter came by promptly. I really didn't know what to expect, so we were pleasantly surprised! The menu offers so many great options... I had the gnocchi and it was amazing! He had fish with a marmalade sauce and spinach. I can't wait to go back. I love the French music and ambiance. I bit pricey for what we usually go for but we had a certificate to use and we have been wanting to treat ourselves. For an appetizer we started off with soups. My fiancé got a generous portion of lobster bisque and I got a delicious french onion. We both had an amazing prosciutto wrapped veal chop with pappardelle pasta in a mushroom cream sauce. I'm not a fan of mushrooms and I devoured every last bit up. The waiter was super nice and offered me a taste of the sauce before I ordered it. If we ever have the extra money to spend we would definitely go back. However for just the 2 of us (2 soups and 2 entrees) our bill came to $117 (tip included). So yea, it's a bit pricey but a great place if you're celebrating something with your loved one or in the mood to spoil yourself. read more

Finally had the opportunity to visit, after driving past many times and saying "that place looks great" I was not disappointed! From the friendly valet to the hostess, the staff was wonderful. The bar was full when I arrived but at 6pm on a Monday there was plenty of tables available in the dining area. The food was amazing as well. The duck entree was perfectly prepared. The yellowfin tuna was superb as was the oyster appetizer. The choice in wine is quite varied. The Resiling was perfect. Although I did not try any desserts they certainly were very appetizing. I ate here for a business dinner and was quite impressed. The service was top notch and the food was delicious. My meal included the arugula salad, the seafood crepes, and the lemon tart. Since I was the speaker for the evening, I didn't get the opportunity to try the cheese plate that was presented as an appetizer, but it looked like a great selection. The seafood crepes were wonderful - they were certainly rich, but well worth the splurge. The lemon tart was also the perfect ending to the meal. The ambiance has a quiet sophisticated " grande dame"quality about it. With this first visit, La Cigale is easily my favorite restaurant in Delray Beach for the following reasons ..... Parking is not an issue since they have complimentary valet parking away from the Atlantic Ave craziness .. For the "hearing aid set"..I finally found a top quality restaurant in Palm Beach County where you can hear yourself talk..... As an added benefit...... the food is really top notch The Blue Point oysters without exaggeration were just about the best I've had this year.The coq au vin was hearty & flavorful ...just about as good as this dish can get.... my wife devoured her seafood crepe bursting with it's creamy contents of lobster ,scallops & shrimp barely offering me a morsel.We finished off with a flawless caramel infused bread pudding. This French / Mediterranean restaurant also offers a happy hour special with 2 drinks for the price of one until 6:30 p.m. Tapas at $5 are also available. Service was flawless. read more

What a gem of a place off the beaten path in Delray. The owner is absolutely charming and the service friendly and attentive. We've only been living here a few months, trying many restaurants hoping to find places to enjoy as much as we did in NY. Decor is simple but comfortable and cozy. Could stand to be a bit more private but I noticed another room that was smaller than the main dining room. Based on previous reviews we tried the veal sweetbreads and seafood crepes, which did not disappoint. Both very rich so we wanted to have the oysters for apps, but they were out. Had the foie grois instead which was also fabulous. Ended with creme brulee. All delicious. Even the drinks were excellent. Pricey yes, but no more than an upscale restaurant in NYC would, which is where this restaurant really belongs. Menu is very extensive, can't wait to visit again to try something new. read more

As an out-of-towner, I wish I had known when I was packing that I was going to eat here because I didn't pack any nice clothes and I felt underdressed compared to all the patrons. But really, but for the prices (particularly the overpriced wine), this place is fantastic. The service was impeccable. Despite the fact that we were not particularly dressed up and we used a groupon, no employee treated us like second class citizens. In fact, the service was a rare treat indeed as they were neither evasive nor intrusive. Moreover, how often do you go to a restaurant that remembers exactly who ordered which dish? Needless to say, we were as much impressed by the service as we were the food. And the food was certainly no slouch either. I wasn't impressed by my Caesar salad - I've had better at chain restaurants - but the filet mignon was cooked perfectly. Everyone else was happy with what they ordered, particularly my father who ordered the sweetmeats. One final disappointment came with dessert. The restaurant prepares its own ice creams and sorbets and waiter told us they had blueberry sorbet, which I was anxious to try (with the molten chocolate cake). Alas, the blueberry sorbet apparently did not "come out" well and I had to settle for the chocolate ice cream, which was a bit underwhelming in its own right. But the cake was moist, flavorful and very delicious! Overall, this place was fantastic and if I were a well-to-do local, I would come here often. read more

ATMOSPHERE Furniture and Artwork are a bit outdated for such a high end restaurant in Downtown Delray (wooden chairs and cloth backed booths), however, the ambiance was still intimate. We went on a weeknight around 830pm and there was only one other table in the restaurant. MENU When we read Mediterranean Cuisine we didn't think "Fine French Dining", so we were pleasantly surprised to find such classics as Escargot, Dover Sole, and Beef Bourguignon. Food is a bit pricey, but plenty of variety (pasta, fish, red meat, white meat) and a very affordable wine menu with most bottles under $55. FOOD QUALITY Excellent across the board. Our favorites were Vichyssoise (Soup), Escargot (App), Creme Brule (Dessert - MUST TRY) SERVICE Outstanding. Authentic French Servers. Attentive, Pleasant, Discreet. OVERALL Food and Service are too good to give anything under 4 stars, but for the money / location ($280 dinner for two) I expected more. LA Cigale is a Delray Beach gem. If you want to avoid the hassle of the Avenue but still dine in an elegant setting this is the place. The food is amazing, especially the chicken francese, steaks and seafood dishes. The pasta is also outstanding. The service is stellar and friendly and parking is hassle free. A rare kid free night gave us the opportunity to grab a Friday after work meal at a restaurant without ribs or chicken fingers on the menu. Being off season, the valet had no line and there were tables to be had. Our first table was next to a loud foursome of seniors (the people we hoped to leave behind when we migrated from NY). We asked to be relocated and were quickly accommodated. And now the food. The appetizers were good but not particularly memorable. I had a soft shell crab special which I would say was OK, but maybe a bit out of their lane. The main courses were very good. The seafood crepes got raves and the filet mignon was as good as any I have ever had - melt in your mouth. The sides were eh, but who cared - the steak was the star. We also had some cocktails - a bit small and creme brulee for dessert which was tasty. All in all it was an enjoyable evening and meal. read more

Tonight we were celebrating our anniversary. With all the restaurants closed for the Coronavirus we had to decide where to "take out". We picked one of our favorites La Cigale !! And we were not disappointed. Francis took excellent care of us. My Ossa Bucco and my wife's Bronzini were cooked to perfection and hot even when we got home. We had our rehearsal dinner at La Cigale in October 2010. We got to meet with the owner and he personally made sure all our needs were met. They gave us a sectioned off room for our crowd of more than 50 family and friends. The service was impeccable, the meal was spectacular. We could have not imagined a better experience!! Menu items included coq au vin chicken, salmon, and a pasta dish. All received rave reviews from every single one of our guests. My husband and I each had the coq au vin chicken and thoroughly enjoyed this incredible dish. The desserts were equally amazing. The entire rehearsal dinner came out to a very reasonable cost and we highly recommend La Cigale for your next rehearsal dinner or large party. read more

For a Delray first timer this was an excellent restaurant for both a romantic getaway or a night out with friends. For a starter we enjoyed the crab cakes and oysters on the half shell. The crab cakes were made with total crab meat, while enjoyable, I have to say Maryland does it better. The oysters on the half shell were amazing and a must if dining here. For the main course I ordered the seafood crepes; they were great. The dish consists of two crepes stuffed to the brim with every seafood imaginable atop a bed of broccoli rabe. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The service was excellent. We were a party of 7 and were given the perfect amount of time between courses to digest and enjoy great conversation. First of all, this is not what we think of as Mediterranean Food, this is good, no, GREAT FOOD. La Cigale has been our go to restaurant for about four years. Sometimes we eat at the bar, sometimes a nice table cloth fits the bill. In every case, the food has always been superb, delicious and fresh. The menu is varied and broad, the sauces are incredibly tasty, the meat, fish and poultry ( chicken & duck) is the highest quality. The portions are generous. Service was great. Food was okay for the price. We got the seafood paella, which had tons of fish but not a lot of flavor, and the beef bourguignon, which was pretty fatty but had good flavor. Bread was hot and came out quick. We bought it on a charity dine and got 25 dollars off just to try the place. My husband and I frequent this lovely restaurant. Each time we go we order an appetizer each (sometimes two) and my husband likes to try a new entree, never disappointed. I am a creature of habit so I have my favorite 3 entrees and I do not deviate. Busy restaurant and The crowd is older, as I am not yet fifty but I like the quiet non rowdy crowd, especially when I am out for a nice meal. The staff are amazingly and always so professional and helpful. I went last night with my girlfriend that I don't get to see often and we were there for 3.5 hours. We had such a great time. No one Including the owner rushed us, on the contrary he and a few of the staff came over to make pleasant comments. Their Foie Gras is simply the best we have ever had. The foie gras is pan fried, served on a slice of brioche blanketed in a delicious demi-glaze and fresh raspberries. The marriage of the demi-glaze, raspberries and foie gras....the big O word here. We always order the same thing, foie gras, escargot and French onion soup, delicious and always consistent. Call them out. Racist and rude. I decided to visit this restaurant and it was a huge mistake. As soon as I walked in the host totally ignored me. When he came to me he didn't greet me or anything, he seemed disgusted that I was there. He then asked if I was a food pick up person, WTH. I tried to explain that I was not and he just cut me off and started a whole other conversation with another staff. The service and welcome was terrible. Had I been of the Caucasian race I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been mistaken for a staff or worker. On top of that, I would have definitely gotten better service. We had an amazing experience here while on vacation in Delray. Happy hour is excellent. Food was amazing, I had the Dover sole and my husband had the roasted duck. The service was exceptional and my husband wanted to smoke a cigar and they set up a private table for us outside and we enjoyed after dinner drinks.
