Was heading into Fremont via Mission Blvd, found this bakery along the way. Good concept, kind of like Paris Baguette or 85 degree, but the selection was very bare. I don't know if they had run out of everything by noon on a Saturday. But did grab a bear claw, which was really good. Great balance of strudel mix to pastry, buttery, not to sweet, etc. But wish I could have tried some of the other items they had. I will be coming back to see if they do have the selection. Oh! I have always got my bread from this place. I am so thrilled that they now have opened up a 2nd store in Newark. (Inside Lions shopping center) Everything is fresh and tasty. I've ordered cakes here for the office twice now. The ordering process is so easy since they have a menu online with the prices listed. They are not overly expensive, but the prices I feel have jumped since my last order. The cakes are not overly sweet which is what I look for in an Asian bakery. Definitely a crowd-pleaser because they are always sooo beautiful. The service has definitely improved since my first visit in May. Last time I had come for a pick up, they did not write "Happy Birthday" on the cakes as I had requested. While getting our cakes ready, they were helping other customers which is fine, but I was there first, and needed to get to these cakes delivered to the office. So overall pick up was like 30-45 mins. I was pretty disappointed. This time when I decided to give them another go, the cakes were ready. They just had to put them into the box. They help me load the cakes into the car, and even supplied me with a nonslip sheet to keep the cakes from moving. (We ordered full sheets and half sheets). The gentleman who helped me definitely went beyond expectations. I've gotten a lot of inquires when we have their cakes. Beautiful and delicious. I contacted La Farfalla for a wedding cake around two weeks before my actual wedding and I believed in them that they could do a great job with the cake I was amazed by their decorations as well. It was all Fresh cream and I was so particular about not using Fondant for my wedding cake. I also wanted the cake to be light and not too sweet. I requested the cake and came in touch with the person in charge. I sent them a picture of the decorations that I wanted for the cake and they told me if it was possible or not. They even delivered it to the location that I asked them to on time. They were good at communication via text messages and I was really surprised when I saw the amazing and commending decorations that they did on a yummy cake. I've come across people who do great cake decorations but usually, the cake tastes pretty awful. Well, this was one of the best Tiramisu cake and Fruit cream cake that I've had. I and my husband loved it and all our guests were pretty impressed with our choice of cake and how it tasted and the decor on the cake. Typical Asian bakery. They have milk tea too but I did not try any. I actually came by for their mini mousse desserts. They are $3.50 each and come in a wide variety of flavors - coffee, green tea, mango, passion fruit, strawberries, blueberries, etc. For $3.50 you can also get custard pudding in a cute little jar. Overall, the mini desserts taste good and look pretty. It is also a good way to try many different flavors. The woman who helped me did not speak very much English at all but she was very helpful - made some more coffee cake for me because they had ran out, was very careful in boxing them to make sure that they can be safely transported. read more

I have ordered two cakes from here; guava and passion fruit mousse cakes. Both were very light and flavorful and great for summer events. The bottom portion of the cake is light and airy and the top part is the flavored mousse. For both of the cakes, I have only requested that they write a generic message (Happy Birthday _______). They write the message in chocolate and it is nothing fancy, but that's fine. They are located in a shopping center and they are a small bakery with maybe two tables inside. I really want to be a regular here because their cakes look awesome...but they really need to step up on their customer service! I ordered a cake for grandma's birthday online, and soon got a phone call to confirm order, I requested them to put some flowers on the cake, they said no problem, everything seemed fine there. But when I went to pick up the cake, they were just going to do the decorations on it, which is ok for me, I'm not in a rush. When they took the cake to the back, I heard one lady shout loudly, "just do whatever on the cake" in Chinese. I was very upset!! And then they did take out this no effort at all "decorations" I had to say something. "Hey, I thought you'll put flowers like the ones on your yelp picture." "Oh, those are special order, we can't do that on mousse cake." "OK, then how about some simple flowers that you can do with whip cream?" The lady just looked at me and did not even move or offer what they can do. Long story short, finally I had to say, I overheard you said just do whatever, and I'm not happy about that. Then she panicked and tried to offer to add roses in the corner. When other customers were coming in, most staffs were in the back, took them a while to come out, and mostly just what-can-I-get-for-you-and-pay kind of interaction.... I really hope this is a rare case. I get it, not everyone is good at business and chit chatting, but at least try to do a little more to help. I was in before 1pm, which according to their website this was the cut off time to order cake for pick up the next day. They said they couldn't have cake ready by 12 noon. OhhhhKaaay, I guess I understand...if cake is ready in the afternoon that would still be considered next day. But which bakery wouldn't have cakes ready in the morning for customers to pick up before going to work? We stopped in purely by accident in search of lunch, peeked inside and couldn't resist to have a taste. The bakery products are fabulous both in taste and visual appeal. Compared to 85 Degree bakery, the pastries are higher quality and not as oily while maintaining their moistness. I tried several different baked pastries including the Custard Bun, the Taro Bun, Matcha Green Tea with Red Bean and Hokkaido Milk. All were a delicacy with subtle sweetness. The bakery displays are organized by category, pastries, cakes and cookies. They also sell milk teas, so I couldn't resist. I tried the Green Tea with Coconut Crema with Cream Cheese, which was also a treat. The staff here was great and very pleasant to interface with. My tea was a bit sweet, so I requested to have it diluted with tea, and without fret, she corrected it to my liking. Parking is also very easy, with its location in a plaza. I was so happy to find this bakery! I wanted to get a guava mousse cake for a celebration at work, so I thought I'd give them a try. I ordered it ahead of time, and it was ready when I wanted it. The cake looked amazing, smelled amazing and was so yummy! It was so very very light and delicately flavored. EVERYONE went back for seconds. What I thought was a huge cake was almost gone! I have supported this bakery since the beginning of its opening. If I really have no choice I would go buy bread for my lunch the next day, but otherwise, I would not go. As they continue to expand their business, they get worse over time. Although they keep remodeling and changing their design, they lack in the variety of food. I will talk about my recent visit like a couple days ago. They try to hard for the interior design and name, but not the food they are selling. I ordered the cake 3 weeks ago and as usual, they ask for your info(ex. Name on the cake, customer's name, and so on). Ordered an 8" Lychee Mousse Cake. I didn't buy anything else because there were not many choices to choose from. They have a lot of cases, but there are only a few cases that are 1/4 way full of bread. Macarons are so tiny and costs 1.85? each. I browsed to the cake area and find that there are quite a few of sliced cake and roll cakes. After 3 weeks, its time to pick up my cake!! I walked in as usual. They have the heater on when it is pretty hot outside, but oh well because I am only here for the cake, not to work. The baker comes out with the cake. The cake looks horrible! The cake he presented was ugly. The sides were lined with a clear plastic wrap, but the cake looks like unattached and watery mousse on the sides. The little decorations are smudged. I clearly wrote the name on the cake, but the baker wrote only Happy Birthday. I immediately told him to write that name. He explained that he thought it was not supposed to be added. I was like, if its written on the sticky note, then that is what is supposed to be added on the cake. So frustrated. He then said that the cake price for the lychee mousse cake is $29. I mean this ugly cake for 29 bucks?! The bakery explained that oh the lychee cake is supposed to be more watery and difficult. I mean WTH, from what i believe, the cake is made from gelatin and artificial flavors. PLEASE dont give me any stupid excuses. We have no choice, but to purchase that cake. SUMMARY: LOOKS UGLY, EXPENSIVE(for that design of the cake), NO EFFORT AHHH ITS A BDAY CAKE AND YOU CANT MAKE IT BEAUTIFUL. HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO PRESENT THIS CAKE? Time to cut the BEAUTIFUL(not) cake! YAAaaah....Cant even put candles in. The candles would just fall over because the mousse is not strong enough to even support candles. After taking out the surrounding plastic wrap around the cake, the cake looks like it is about to fall apart. It was hard to cut the cake because it couldn't support itself... very watery. Devour time! The cake is very dry and their are not much moist to it. Can taste the egg in the cake though. The mousse is very watery. Barely any gelatin in it to have that mousse texture. Not coming back because they don't actually have a lot of bread, small macarons, not many interesting cakes, and effortless cakes. I warn those who wants to purchase a cake. read more

I've actually never been to this location but I really wanted to write a review. My friend catered cake for her wedding from La Farfalla: green tea mousse, guava mousse, and tiramisu. I'll have to say that this has been THE best wedding cake I've ever had. The cake portion is moist, soft, amazingly fluffty. The mouse is flavorful; none of that "hints of" green tea or guava taste. Both aren't too sweet (which makes it dangerous because I literally ate like 6 slices at the wedding). For too long have I had sugar loaded American cakes. It was a vanilla cake with guava mousse it wasn't too sweet which is a awesome! An 8" cost about $26 they also had a bunch of other flavors! Gonna try the lychee one next. I was so excited to see that a new bakery was opening up where Moo's Cakes was because quite frankly, Moo's went downhill. Moo's macarons tasted like they used artificial flavors, not real fruit or vanilla. I went in and their displays were appealing. I ordered several macarons. While standing at the register I noticed that the pictures of the various cakes they baked looked exactly like the cakes Moo's baked. Come to find out, their baker is the same! So I guess only the name changed, not the baker. Ugh! That means that if I order a cake then I can only order the type of cake he is willing to bake!! When I sat in my car I ate the macarons. Had the tiramisu and boy was it delicious. I never had such a good fresh slice of tiramisu. The cream was the highlight but the sponge cake lady fingers was very light and soft and complimented the cream and choco powder very well. In fact all layers of the cake came together very well. I am impressed. Going back to the cream - it was light and fragrant and didn't make the cake too sweet. It was perfect. I've eaten a lot of tiramisu before but this takes the cake (pun intended)! :) I also tried the hokkaido milk bread. The owner said it was his favorite and I can totally understand why! I let my parents try it too and they said that it is better than 85 degrees' bread! I agree too. Have yet to try more but I can't wait. I am glad that the old bakers from Moos Cakes are still there coz their cakes and macarons were so good. The store looks really different now. It looks much better and they have quite a variety of pastries. Their macaron is a little smaller but I heard that this is the legit size of real french macaron. And they taste good, that's all that matters. Oh, and now they offer to put the macaron in a gift box which is nice. I was also trying to order a cake and being told that now they can also do the fancy type of decoration. The owner(who is also a baker herself) showed me some photos of the cakes she made(gonna post them here later). They look fabulous. I mean, the cakes has always been good but they don't do customized cakes. decorations were just fruits. So it's good to know that they try to improve that. I am definitely going to get some customized cakes from them next time I have a party. This is a very quaint little bakery. It's sweet and cleans looking with it's use of white and blue. I purchased the guava mousse. I've never had guava mousse in my life. I don't tend to get fruit flavoured desserts because They usually use some artificial flavouring and it always tastes bad. But I love guava so I decided to go on a leap and try it. It was delicious. The cake and mousse were extremely light. The cake itself was soft and airy, not at all dense. I really really liked it. However, like most places it can be difficult to understand them over the phone. I suggest you just stop by, otherwise be clear and patient when ordering on the phone. GREAT bakery!
