The restaurant was very nice. We had patio seating which perfect for the weather. This is a very local neighborhood establishment as multiple groups/guests being seated greeted others at tables already seated before they took their own table. Nice atmosphere. Everyone seemed to know someone else. The service was adequate. Our server seemed to be very harried as it took a few times to wave him down to ask for additional items. He did not let us complete our request, before he was off and then had to bring us the other item we tried ordering but he did not seem to have time for us the first time around. I don't think we were rushed, but he definitely did not take time with us. The food was okay. It was bland. I agree with whomever stated that the sauce was just a plain can of tomato sauce poured over the food. Not terrible, but very boring. The chips and salsa were, again, okay, but boring. No spice, or for that matter, even salt. My suggestion for the chips would be to serve them warm. Would improve the flavor. The drinks were also tasteless. I had the house margarita on the rocks and it just had no flavor. Another at our table had a daiquiri and said the same. Have someone teach you how to make a decent drink and have your customers taste test them before you charge for something that is not good. The service was horrible, we waited there for like 15 minute before the waitress came to take the order and we told her that she forgot to bring the menus. My sister and I went to La Fiesta just before 5 PM and it was perfect timing because within minutes there were lots of families arriving indoors and outdoors. My sister ordered the Enchiladas Suizas, which was a real disappointment. It was covered with red sauce that tasted like it came out of a jar of Hunt's tomato sauce, absolutely flavorless. It's as if they put the enchiladas on a plate, poured the tomato sauce over it then put squares of cheese on top that were just barely warm, no bubbling, browning at all. On the other hand, I ordered the Plato la Fiesta combo platter and my enchilada was good with a nice crust, melted cheese and flavor and everything else on the plate. She asked the server to exchange the Enchiladas Suizas for a taco. She kept the rice and beans. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, offering refills and checking on our table from time to time. I would go back again but it wouldn't be for the Enchiladas Suizas. The combo for sure. read more

I'm so done with this place. I supported them during the pandemic by ordering carry out. Tonight, I decided to dine outside. I was seated in the "extended" patio which consists of several tables placed on uneven asphalt under a large tent. They have a small string of lights that barely illuminate the tent. Perhaps some strings patio lights? You know, to dress it up? No. Not at La Fiesta. Anyway, lack of patio decor aside, I knew it was going to be a bad visit when the hostess brought plastic utensils. Am I getting carry out? If it's so dangerous to bring me some metal utensils then you shouldn't be open. Again I digress. Here's when I really knew my meal was going to be crap. The waiter arrived. This guy has been here at least 15 years and he has been terrible for at least the last 10. He has little interest in doing his job. Hey man, if you don't like your job go do something else. He took the drink order and came back pretty quickly which surprised me. He then seemed perturbed that I wasn't ready to order. And why wasn't I ready? The hostess brought one menu for two people. What's that all about? More COVID nonsense? I told him I needed two minutes. He came back in 10. Really? Anyway, he took our order and left. The food arrived fairly quickly. He dropped it off and left. What's the first thing you do as as waiter, waitress, runner, etc. upon dropping off food? You ask if they need anything else. Not this guy. He hightailed it out of there. I finished a beer. The bottle sat empty for 15 minutes. Waiter never came back. I finished my meal. A few minutes of empty dishes and no drink passed. He magically appeared and asked if I wanted another beer. My response: "Not anymore." I asked for the check and that took him another 10 minutes. I should have walked out on the check. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the food. It was bland as always. Enchiladas tasted like a Chef Boyardee version. Steak tacos were flavorless. I paid the bill and left the change for the horrible waiter who should have been fired 10 years ago. It amounted to $1.08. That's $1.08 too much. I've been coming here for 30 or more years. We were staying in the Fairfield by Marriott near Midway Airport and one of the front desk staff recommended La Fiesta to us. It was nearing the end of our week in the city and we were looking for a nicer sit-down Mexican place that wasn't a dive, or a two or three table eat at the counter place (there's a lot of those near Midway and down Cicero). La Fiesta fit the bill. I wouldn't say I'd do backflips over the food, but my table enjoyed the chips and salsa, their burritos, and I had the camarones ala diablo (which our server recommended). The camarones ala diablo packed a punch and I went through a gallon of water. Our server was fantastic and was quick to refill my glass. We had a good laugh about the heat level...he understood what I'd gotten myself into. But along with the heat it tasted really good... If you want authentic Mexican the dives might be more what you are looking for. But it you want a little atmosphere, good food, and a comfortable place to sit and eat... La Fiesta might be what you are looking for. That being said... I always find "authentic" to be subjective. Often what people consider authentic is just what they grew up with... Service here was horrible. 6/28 we arrived and first sat inside but it was so stuffy we moved to outside under tent. It wasn't that busy and there were a lot of servers so I don't understand why the service was lacking. Server didn't check on us often. When we got the bill we waited 10 minutes and he never came. I went inside to give him the money and him along with 5 other people were standing in a circle talking to one another, when I hand him the bill one of them have the nerve to say "please exit from here if you don't have a mask on." Are you serious??? You guys are standing around doing nothing while you have customers sitting outside, so I had to come inside. We spent $166 and could've spent this anywhere else but here!! Love this place, the staff are always friendly. Their food is always delicious and their margaritas are amazing.

It doesn't look that good when you first walk by. But once you get in the hostess up in the front are very nice. Please take it to your seat, and shortly after your waiter will come, the waiters are very nice my waitress her name is Jenny. She's very nice. She's also very helpful too. She tells you how everything is cooked. How much they cost and so on she's very nice she make some jokes, 10 out of 10 recommend I've been going there basically my whole life I know almost all the waitresses and the drinks at the bar are very good. They're homemade chips and salsa are the best, especially with the guac and their enchilada Suiza is the best. I also highly recommend the rice. I see alot of people complaining about the Suiza Sauce, however it is an authentic, simple red sauce. I love it here! They have many options for sauces. Ranchero, Pica Pica and Salsa Verde. Our food finally arrived (unimpressive) - side note, after tasting their chips and salsa I decided to order a plain ol' chicken sandwich; they couldn't even get that right. While my sandwich was edible, the accompanying fries were cool to the touch, improperly cooked, tasted raw. This place is barely a step up from Taco Bell. Although the chips and salsa are always good, everything else is an Americanized version of a Mexican classic. I ordered steak fajitas. I got a plate of gray meat and semi-charred green peppers and onions. Unlike other Mexican restaurants, the plate arrived lukewarm (no sizzle indicating hot-off-the-grill), and the side dish of toppings was sparse and not especially fresh. I'm betting the guacamole was premade and came from a plastic bag. The texture was similar to mashed potatoes...no chunks of avocado or tomato or onion. Tablemates ordered enchiladas suiza and the cheese on top consisted of two slices of white cheese barely melted. Food needed salt, and that's saying something. No flavor. Next time I'll head over to Las Fuentes on 115th and Pulaski where I'll pay a bit more but get a much better meal. read more

This is total white person Mexican food. Like it's good but kinda blah. We had chips and guac and i think it was just mashed avocado on a plate with onion and tomato on top. I ordered carry out so I will give two stars for the attentiveness of the staff and the quickness of the service. I have never had Mexican food taste so unauthentic, unseasoned and very bland. I ordered the enchiladas suiza and like other's have mentioned the sauce on top seems like it comes out of a can of tomato paste. Very thick and no seasoning. The rice was watery and had absolutely no seasoning, no salt, no spices, nothing. And the beans tasted burnt. What a waste of money. read more

Two of my girlfriends and I met up for a dinner date because it had been awhile since we saw each other. I live by Indiana and they live in Elgin, IL. La Fiesta was recommended to us by someone so we decided to check it out. We sat in the covered outside patio area. All was going well until we received our food. I had 3 pieces of black and white hair in my taco and one of my other girlfriends had a long piece of black and white hair sticking straight up out of her fajita plate by her shrimp. We waited a good 10 min for the waitress to come back to check on us after delivering our food like most good servers do. I finally got up & found someone to get her for us. Upon her arrival to our table she asks "Is everything ok?" We told her no and I pointed out the hair in our food. The first thing she says is "It must have came from the ceiling because our kitchen..." My girlfriend cut her off because that sounded ridiculous! Hair FROM THE CEILING "embedded" in our food???!!! Not sitting on top of our food like it fell, but embedded in the food. The hair was black, then white, then black again. She looks at my hair then my girlfriends. We saw her looking at our hair and my girlfriend told her not to even think about blaming us. My hair is short and curly, another is a bronzy gold and the other is a curly afro. NOT, like the hair in the pic. The server NEVER apologized & went to get the manager. Manager comes, we show her, the first thing she does is apologize and says "I'll get this made over for you." Kudos to manager for handling it correctly. BUT, our appetite was ruined AND we were insulted by the conversation we just had with the server. So we told her not too. We sat there upset trying to see what we were going to do because my girlfriends just drove an hour from Elgin, IL to see me. In the meantime, the server comes back and is clearing the table. My girlfriend proceeds to tell her that we were insulted by her response and how not once, she didn't even apologize. The server proceeds to point to my girlfriends "brown & gold" fur scarf that was sitting off to the side by her by the ledge of the window saying "I think it might be that, oh let me not say anything" and walks away!!!! WHAT?!?!? Again, the hair embedded INSIDE the food, NOT on top, was black and white. NOT BROWN & GOLD! We got up & left. We have never felt as insulted and humiliated as we felt Saturday evening.
