The staff is rude and think it's acceptable to bark at customers when the gym is about to close.

I've never experienced anything like what happened at the LA Fitness in Austell yesterday (11/10/2025). While I was using the Smith machine, another patron walked up, put his bag down, and when I told him I was using it and had two more sets left, he went and told a manager -- Omar. A few minutes later, Omar came all the way from the front of the gym to interrupt my workout and ask me how many sets I had left, apparently to "make sure everyone can use the equipment." What's strange is that there's another Smith machine right behind me that was also occupied, but Omar didn't ask that person anything. When I pointed that out, he said, "We don't have to do that." That made it clear he was only addressing me because someone complained. Then he told the other patron to "just hop on whenever she finishes her two sets." Not when I was done -- but specifically after two sets -- as if a manager can dictate when someone's allowed to use a machine they're already on. To me, that's completely unprofessional. Everyone in the gym pays the same monthly fee. If a machine is in use, you wait your turn -- that's basic gym etiquette. I don't expect special treatment, and I definitely don't expect a manager to interrupt my workout because someone didn't want to wait. If capacity is an issue, the gym should add more equipment. But targeting a member mid-workout to accommodate someone else isn't fair or respectful. The way Omar handled the situation showed a real lack of tact and impartiality. I've always believed gyms should be about mutual respect and shared space, but this experience really left a bad impression. Hopefully, LA Fitness takes this seriously and makes sure managers treat all members equally. read more

This gym puts in no effort to provide its member with a quality experience. At this moment just from the few machines around me at least 3 have signs that they will be serviced soon and have been like that the last 3 weeks, the elliptical machines all have visible signs of rust and most have broken water holders as well as screens do not work, there is no upgrade to the gym itself, the restrooms are rarely stocked with essentials like soap & toilet paper, paper towels, carpet is old and on top of all that the pictures on the wall do not depict 1 black person. I guess they don't work out . Do better. read more

Way to busy for my liking I tried going at many different times this place just isn't big enough and doesn't have enough equipment. Seems to be over hyped people chasing that name. Didn't end up choosing this gym for those reasons. If I had more time to hang out I'd probably of gone here just because of all the amenities. read more

Germ box, they do not notify all members the water is off. No signs posted when you come in or anything . i.e you can not properly wash your hands with a trinkle of water. Or shower before work if you planned on doing that or flushing the toliet. Need to do better with notifying members the water is off. The gym is always clean and the staff have been very welcoming. My Trainer (Gabe) is one of the best ever! I have enjoyed having him train me because his is encouraging . Providing different methods to help me improve my fitness. He has a wealth of knowledge on weight training and the equipment, movement, balance and stretching. ...Additionally, he is very compassionate with any limitations I have physically! Sad to visit this gym almost 4 years later and seeing how much it has become outdated! Membership looks good so don't know why they wouldn't invest back into their equipment and appearance. Most cardio equipment is outdated, out of order, or dirty. Rusting away from improper upkeep. Bathrooms are somewhat clean but sauna area needs cleaning and time to be refaced. Potential is there but doesn't seem like the desire is. I'm also a member of another nearby gym that updates their equipment every couple years and they have a smaller membership. Would like to see SOME revamping of this location. Show members why they pay their monthly dues instead of working out at home or doing outside activities. read more

Been going here for 3 years and the gym has been on the decline ever since. There are several uncontrollable factors such as the amount of people that piss me off but I won't go into that. The main issue is managements refusal to replace broken equipment. For some reason management thinks it is completely fine for there to be 8 areas for straight bar bench/overhead press but only 3 straight bars. GET NEW BARS PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. read more

The WORST gym experience I've ever had. I joined a year ago and immediately regretted my decision, however I stayed around hoping it would improve and it never did. Workout weight machines are consistently out of order, cardio equipment is rusted, workout classes never start on time, the Zumba class is far off from Zumba technique and the instructors do a poor job of instructing the class. At the time of membership cancellation the GM John pretended to be concerned with my experience only to be defensive, antagonistic, and condescending towards views that I shared. This gym was overall an unpleasant experience and they make it very hard to cancel your membership. read more

UPDATE: HOW ARE YOU GOING TO CHARGE A "LATE FEE" AND YOUR SYSTEM HAS DOCUMENTED THE PAYMENT INFORMATION IS ACCEPTED??? $5.00 REALLY? - They should be glad and overjoyed for COVID-19, the alternative was to make the payment in pennies... filthy animals! This HAS got to be the biggest scam company going and no one seems to do anything about it. Only one star was given and that is ONLY because of the available hours of operation and they seem to be the only gym that has a pool - NOW, back to reality: 1. Joining does not entitle the member to have accurate payment scheduling. Due to COVID19 closures the company "froze" payments, however, did not clearly inform the members that upon reopening the number of months within the contract would remain. - Having a 12-month contract and the closure period included two of the 12 months, it appeared that that time elapse to be taken as a "loss" by the company. NOT THESE BLOODSUCKERS. They sent notices that stated an extension of the contract could be made OR a complimentary membership would be given to a friend or family member. Upon not choosing either option the contract termination form was submitted for "end of term" closure of the account. - NO ONE, customer service, team members from Austell and Morrow branches, were able to confirm how many payments were due. After numerous calls and visits to the facility, I was informed of the number of payments due. This was for training and general membership (separate). Upon the documented end of the contract term, an additional payment was automatically removed from my bank account for the training sessions and I was told that this was due to the payment NOT being made for the closure period. - The general membership payments were deducted, as normal, until an updated credit card was submitted for use. Several attempts to update the information with the online system confirming the time and date of the changes and the acceptance of such. Yet, the payments would not process as designed. The manual payment was then submitted and confirmation that no other payments were due. Then, notice was sent that a late payment fee had been assessed BECAUSE THEIR SYSTEM WOULD NOT FUNCTION AS DESIGNED. I spoke to numerous members within the clubs as well as contacting the corporate office. Each time being told a different policy for how payments were scheduled, accepted, deferred, process, applied. It was so bad that it caused an overdraft in my bank account. The gyms are filthy, there STILL is no routine cleaning of the materials, the trainers have arrived smelling as if they just came from a drinking fest and they have not washed for the day. The pool is not cleaned regularly and there is constantly debris found on the bottom as well as around the pool area and within the containers used to store weights. The equipment is worn and tattered and members are not encouraged in any way to clean after using any machinery. Speaking to "management" results in a common phrase " we try, but cannot force someone to clean after use of the machines" Bathroom stalls are regularly out of service, and one day ALL toilet stalls were out of service - this was at 6 am in the morning. I had a question about my billing. The "manager" Demetrius said I had a bad attitude because I was asking for clarification of an incorrect charge. Then he said "we have millions of customers" and that he didn't care if I cancelled my membership, then hung up on me. I just joined the LA Fitness before they shut down from COVID-19. I went once and they haven't been open. Now their billing system is a mess and it is impossible to talk to someone that isn't rude or that has a clue. I'm finding another gym. Avoid LA Fitness - they don't seem to have any interest in keeping members. read more

LA Fitness gets one star today, reason being myself and other members were there at 0500 hours this morning and no one was there to open up. I left at 0515 hours and the gym was still not open. Quite simply put, a terribly ran gym. The failure starts at the top, with an incredibly rude manager. He does not know how to properly communicate with his guests and comes off as abrasive. As far as the gym itself, the members at this specific location do not know how to pick up after themselves. Weights and equipment laying around throughout. The bathrooms are disgusting after 7am. Members are allowed to blast music as loud as they want with no repercussions. Equipment is in a constant state of disrepair. The filtered water fountain hasn't worked in over a month. There are nicer clubs in the area that are work the extra few minutes drive. Save yourself the trouble of attending this LA Fitness, you'll be disappointed otherwise. read more

Very dirty gym. Broken toilets, disgusting dirty sinks, dirt floors. There is so much dust on the ledges on the walls that it looks like gray snow - which tells me they aren't changing the filters on the hvac system. We are in a pandemic people! WTF? I am dissapointed in not only the service of this location, but the size as well. I expected this locatiom to be much bigger than it was, especially with the location of the facility, all that land and a smedium gym. The sales reps are all about making an extra buck instead of servicing their customers. One of the sales reps tried to up the cost of membership for my father to a ridiculous amount, to the point where i had to go to a different location and sign him up @ the "normal" rate. Upon him visiting the gym, a tour of the facility wasn't even offered during the whole ordeal. Once he joined and requested to do his fitness test, they didnt have the necessary forms needed ro complete the test & mid test one of the workers walked off and didnt return to assist him. However, he did complete the test.....2 hours later after finding a different worker. Smh. The facility is nice of course because its new, howevever its extreeemely small. With the amount of room available for building, I was surprised that some of the amenities had been reduced. The sauna is literally a small coat closet, the swimming pool is smaller and the majority of the main floor is blocked off for "personal training", in this area there is also beneficial equipment that cannot be utilized, like some arm machines, ropes, etc. In order to get a GREAT work out, you have to know the times where there aren't large crowds, because you do run the risk of waiting for a machine. Spoke to John back in 2018-2019 a while back in regards of a membership. He wanted me to pay over $200 for a membership and i declined. Instead i took advantage of a promotion sandy plains LA Fitness had and only paid $65 for a membership and could go to any club regardless of state and or location. One day i decided to go to this location to workout because I was in the area of austell, and saw John at the front desk. He immediately got verbally aggressive and rude on why i didn't buy the membership off of him. Well because you wanted to charge me extra bozo!!! Absolutely horrible experience with John i should've known something wasn't right when john was sighing me up and clicked quickly past the enrollment pages and just told me to sign! to trust him he's been at fitness for many years and he would assure me of any hidden fees. Unfortunately i was lied to! John did not disclose to me the additional fees i would have to pay along with the monthly membership. i was told one price then come to my surprise when i looked at my credit card statement i noticed multiple charges that didn't add up so i decided to go speak to John and he acted in an unprofessional manner and became extremely defensive. I immediately requested to cancel my membership i will not give my business to a company that employs people with no integrity and who provide false and misleading information. read more

I've used LAfitness facilities throughout metro Atlanta, and this has to be one of the worse facilities around. Camp Creek is a close second. The staff is not very friendly, the upkeep of the gym is dismal, and the upkeep of the pool is horrendous. I do a lot of swimming, but I only use this pool as a last resort when I don't have time to go somewhere else. I don't think they do regular testing of the water, or that they may not have proper training, which is very likely. But the clientele in this area of town is just as bad also. I notice that members here are less likely to wipe down equipment, don't re rack weights, and leave trash laying around. I think it's a socioeconomic issue, and a reflection of lower median income and education in the surrounding area. This entire club mirrors the demographics of Austell. read more

Everything is cool about this location but the WIFI never works and I can never stream my music.

I'm not sure how hard it is to put your weights back where they belong but apparently it's extremely difficult for the majority of people that frequent this gym. You'll spend more time searching for the weight you want then you will working out. I've been here a handful of times and each time it's the same thing. It's a new location and the equipment is still in great condition but the headache of trying to find the weights you want and dealing with the people that go there; it's not worth it. read more

I come here every other day and every time whether I come early in the morning, midday, or the evening it is ALWAYS dirty. I can understand some part of it being the patrons but if I come in right as they open and it's dirty it's clearly staffs fault. I have witnessed the female cleaning employee talked to patrons throughout her entire shift just wondering around wiping something here and there then stopping in the locker room for 40mins and just have a full conversation. I've seen her in the sauna just chillen not even pretending to clean. Here's just a few examples of the standards here: the toilets always stuffed and dirty, the showers grimy and hairy, the main weight floors always have a nice layer of sweat and general muck to them and the trash cans are always filled to the brim. Other than the general disgusted of this place the wifi never works, just a few weeks ago they didn't have any at all. Some of the equipment has parts missing. The staff does the bare minimum at the desk and spends their time flirting with patrons/potential clients, talking to each other and on their phones. The only redeeming quality of this gym is the pool, it's usually always clean, empty and the only reason I haven't quit this disaster. Look I could understand if I was paying a discount price, but we pay the same amount as every other LA Fitness for a facility that is neglected. read more

I'm shocked to see the negative reviews here because this is one of my favorite L A Fitness gyms now! I've been a member of L A Fitness for more than 10 years. I discovered this new location for the Austell gym 1 month ago. It looks like alot of the complaints here involve the weights area. Well I don't use the weights. So that might explain my positive experiences. Love the aerobics room. Big shoutout to Lady T! She has a following for her Zuumba class. (FYI, she's listed under her official name of Teresa in the class schedule.) Love the treadmill area upstairs and the bike room. Plenty of equipment. Here is one of my favorite things about this particular L A Fitness. It looks to me like the number of men outweigh the women. And yet I find the men to be respectful here. When one of them checks you out, you don't feel like you're being inspected like a piece of meat. LOL! read more

Love the new gym everything is new and nice front desk employees are always very professional. Always greet you when you come in. The reason it get a two star is because Beverly Hills hillbillies it was comes to mind with this new gym. Why you may ask Because the majority of members don't take in consideration that they're not the only ones working out. ( put your weights back when your done, wipe your machine.....ect) It's very disappointing to see that even with all new beginning still old habits are hard to died. There were no paper towels in the men's restroom, no soap . The free weights workout area was d disorganized, Weights are never were they belong. During reps I spent time picking up and organizing the area. Is there not employees that do this ?? How long do I give this gym to start looking like The old one a couple of months. Not a member however, my husband is! He invited me here for a personal training session/assessment with James. I renamed him KING James because he is awesome. Very knowledgeable, complimentary and friendly. He most certainly challenged me. I would recommend a private session with him any day to anyone. Ask him about "the punisher"! read more

I come to this LA Fitness more than any other LA Fitness. While the staff is always polite I have noticed lately that things like paper towel or sanitizer dispensers seem to always be out of order. The weights stay un racked and guest leave trash all over the gym. I think they should do a better job of walking around to enforce certain gym etiquette like re racking your own weights and throwing your used paper towels away. Also, there are a few pieces of equipment that have been broken or missing components for months that are still in disrepair. Not acceptable when you're paying $40 a month. The restrooms also are constantly in need of cleaning or soap and paper towels. Maybe they need more staff but they are going to really suffer when the new gym opens up the street if they don't pull it together. read more

I have been a member at LA Fitness almost 10 years now. This is by far the DIRTIEST location I have ever been to. Toilets are always a mess. One sink in the locker room has been broken here for the past 6 months. The other soap dispenser never has soap in it. You never know what you will step into in the changing area. The showers are gross as well and filled with hair and other items. I believe this is a busy location, but I have been to other locations just as busy, if not more so and never experienced a location as bad as this. read more

I have worked out at LA Fitness for years. Orlando, Kennesaw, Alpharetta, Cumming, and now Austell. The equipment is all new and in good shape. The gym does not smell bad (after reading before there were issues of smell I guess) and for the most part is clean as far as dirt goes. As for all things non-dirt related, I'm not sure what about this area brings in the laziest of the lazy people. It's ridiculous. Nearly nobody puts their weights back. For those who aren't worthless pieces of lazy waste, thank you. That includes free weights and plates. When they're done working out they just leave their weights and trash wherever they were. Including sweaty paper towels. The weights that DO get put back are not where they are supposed to be. Evidently everyone here can't complete the square peg square hole test. So like I saw earlier, you will spend a good amount of time trying to figure out where the weights you are looking for have ended up, and if a machine is being used or not since all the plates from the previous person are still there. LA Fitness needs to get extra personnel at this location as strictly weight wranglers. read more

This location is extremely dirty. I was upstairs on the stair master looking down and noticed that there was dust caked up on the ledge. It must've been left there for a really long time because that amount of buildup was insane! The air was stuffy and there was only one ten pound barbell in the entire gym. ONE! The rest of them was a disorganized mess. I left feeling itchy and irritated that they let this place get so disorganized. read more

By far one of the worst LA fitness I've ever been. The locker rooms and restrooms have a terrible smell of sweat and pee. Half of the machines are "Scheduled for Maintenance" but sit there for months not touched. Half of the people that attend this gym believe that catcalls and yelling towards women is appropriate. You also do get a mix of rich white women that believe that the sauna controls are theirs. The floors have weaves floating along the floors. And the machines are always piled with paper towels in the cup holders or soaked in sweat. The crew could careless about anything. Probably explains why they cuss loud in the hallway before the restrooms. read more

Poor customer service. We are paying a membership fee and I at least expect the front desk to say hello or good morning. 90% of the time I am the one having to speak first. All of them are the same. I was a member here for about 3 months, it was always crowded and I understand that it was after work, I did not have a good experience here, the classes were not good it just wasn't a good fit for me I go to the YMCA now and I love it great instructors,great classes and the people that work there have Great Attitudes. read more
