They need better training when dealing with over age 60 adults. We are not as technically savvy, and they don't allow options for not using Their app for signing in at the front desk. I communicated to the manager that went on install the app. I had all types of unwanted ads and such popping up on my phone that I could not stop. It also affected other things I had loaded on my phone. I deleted their app from my phone and everything that was an issue stopped. If you still use the first I phone or iPod then this is the gym for you. if you like filthy pools than sign up. not only is their equipment old but it's outdated, like from the 90's. I love in Rockwall County so this is the most convenient gym location. But I miss the Greenville Avenue location and that's saying something. The vending machine for a water bottle does not work and they do not have a drinking fountain that can fill your bottle like the rest of the world does, even the elem school where I teach has them and that school is 40 years old. Get up to date already. This LA fitness is extremely busy! What I like about thos place is that its very big. Even with COVID precautions, there are still many machines that people could use. The staff are very friendly. I was hoping they would be open 24/7 but their hours are limited. Nevertheless it's a solid gym. They have a pool, sauna, hot top, extremely clean locker rooms and cardio rooms. You can also play racquetball. Their membership packages aren't too bad either. My only suggestion is for them to replace some of the old rusty weight machines. I had previously rated this gym higher but it is definitely getting bad. During summer the gym is full of teenagers that leave the weights all over and sit for hours on equipment. There was one young adult that was on a bench press for over an hour half the time he was texting on the phone. If you are a busy professional this is not the gym for you. read more

I saw that this club had one star ratings and a composite of two stars so I thought I would check it out anyway since I have silver sneakers over 65. They would not register me even though it was 1:45 on a Saturday afternoon and the club was empty. After repeated attempts to tell the front desk person that 24 hour fitness had no such policy I left the club even though I told the dude that I recognized now why they were so poorly rated because they have poor customer service. I've been going here for a few months because it's the one nearest to my house, but recently the building stinks as soon as I step in. The cleaning staff needs to be informed that using a dirty mop and likely dirty water to mop the floor defeats the purpose of "cleaning". They are only stinking up the place, which makes it very difficult to exercise! I just don't understand why it is so hard for the men's locker room to smell/be clean? I literally want too gag when I walk in. You literally walk in, and smell mildew and see mold around the toilets and showers. No other la fitness in the metroplex, that I have been too, struggles with this. This location is nice. It's always clean and the machines seem to always be in working order. My only complaint would be the door greeter people rarely greet you. There is no hot tub or sauna so you have to go to other locations for these features. read more

Ok. So I was super worried because of all the 1 star reviews. I went to take a tour today because it's the closest gym to my house and has a pool. Tyler was super friendly. Took me and my roommate around and showed us every part of the gym even tho we weren't signing up today. Not planning to anyway. It was very clean. There was even a gentlemen cleaning while we were there. I forgot to take pics. I will later this week! I ended up joining in the spot and went swimming for 45 minutes. It is a typical gym that is comparable to 24 hour fitness. There is no towel service but I prefer using my own towels. The staff are friendly and helpful. The machines are kept clean. Has a nice selection of classes. Music could be better but that is what headphones are for. Overall a great gym for the price. read more

We were hesitant to come because we saw other reviews on here with 1-2 stars but when we walked in we were shocked at how great this place is! TRAINING IS A SCAM! Do not waste your money on a company that lies about what's in its contracts and doesn't follow through, then blame previous employees for false promises. That's not a company that operates with integrity or any sort of values. Management is seriously lacking in customer services skills and how to mitigate a situation. Don't even get me started on how nasty and disgusting the gym is - I see the employee turnover is so high but didn't know that affected the cleaning staff. Signed up for a summer membership to work on my swimming. I was able to sign up via email/phone. But when I went to cancel, I was told I had to do that in person. That's all I was told. So, I drove almost 30 min to the club, only to be told that there is only ONE person who can do the cancellations...the operations manager...and she is only there during business hours (Mon thru Fri from 9 A - 5 P). Well, I have a job, too... So, I wasted an hour for nothing. I am going to try to do the mail-in cancellation, but I have a bad feeling I'll follow up in a week only to be told, "We didn't get it." I wasn't told about the cancellation form I can mail in until I went up to the gym in person. If people can sign up without being in person, they should be able to cancel the same way. I will not use them next summer. I will go to a more professional, customer-focused gym that doesn't play these silly games with MY time and MY money. read more

Great gym with great amenities and a friendly staff. Rates are fair and the gym is pretty much always clean. They do need to do something to help with the smell in the mens locker room, at times its pretty overbearing. I realize its a mens locker room but that doesn't mean they can't get some strong air fresheners in there or something. read more

Filthy equipment and smelly locker rooms, pushy staff that try to get you to do an "assessment" who will then try to sell you their incompetent and unprofessional personal trainers. Good luck trying to get any of the money back for that crap if you agree to it, took me 3 months. They did a "renovation" a year ago. Dirty. That sums up most of the problem here. No one cleans or disinfectants anything and there are no wipes available so we can do it ourselves. Never anyone at the front desk after dark and if you find them, they are on their cell, in the back playing basketball or chatting up people trying to workout. I'm not impressed at all with this particular gym location. I am a LA Fitness member though I originally started at another club. I feel like there is so much room for improvement that doesn't take a lot to actually execute. I think they could do a better job of keeping their gym clean and orderly. It's not horrible with a capital H but it can definitely get in the way of a workout. The manager supposedly has made efforts to address this during peak hours. We'll see if this actually happens and I can see the difference. I also had several issues with my personal training on the administrative side. It took a looong time to straighten it out and still I did not receive finality until I called customer service which did a great job explaining and ironing things out. I had issues when the manager said he was going to do things that he never did (like calling me back) and I ended up having to be the proactive one and that was extremely frustrating in light of the fact that the issues were a club error not mine. Generally speaking, I think they lack in customer service overall. I'm not saying they suck just that they could be better. I finally bit the personal training bullet though I haven't been satisfied fully with the experience especially since I have an athletic background and tend to think I don't really "need" a trainer and could get it done on my own with free resources. Nevertheless, I was persuaded. The one person I actually liked transferred to another gym and she was great with her training and her direction. She made me feel valued as a member and comfortable with my memberships and add-ons. So now I need to figure out who would be a goof fit trainer wise. The corporate back drop just makes it hard to feel like the trainers really want to develop and build a client base. I wonder like how long is the trainer going to be here or are they even interested in hearing what I want and need out of personal training versus their ideas. They could also use some updates on equipment. I do like that they offer free Saturday boot camps they offer (maybe monthly?) though I have never actually been. I wish they opened their cafe. I don't know if all LA club cafes no longer operate or not. I hope this club improves! Because I want to be happy with my gym. I think they need to be about building relationships. Know my name. I used LA for a little over a year and was overall dissatisfied. The machines (when working) are fine and the facility is average but you are being charged tremendously. The process for cancelling is ridiculous and took me a week to cancel due to staff and other complications. Have been wrongfully charged multiple times without any refund. Will be signing up at Planet Fitness instead as they have a much more affordable price and the staff seems better equipped. read more

This rating is more of a comparison between LA fitness, Rowlette and the anytime fitness (AF) Brand--I work out at LA fitness Rowlette every chance I get!! I travel allot for work--I did belong to LA Fitness but the nearest LA Fit is 50 miles away. I am a SERIOUS gym rat. Most AF are small-REAL small. I use AF in Sulpher Springs, Tx, Greenville and Commerce, Texas and been to allot of others. I simply stopped going to Sulpher Springs Tx AF and avoid the town as a whole. The Sulpher Springs (east Tx) is WAY WAY to Religious! The Sulpher Springs AF gym has bible versus on the walls! Religous "stuff" can be seen and found frequently in the gym. I had a complaint one time and walked into the office of the female manager was reading her Bible in the office! When my "partner" and I moved to Tx from Calif, Sulpher AF refused to offer the "family plan" because we are both men--The words were used "Family discounts for a man and a woman only not two men.." There have been other issues at this gym regarding maintenance of equipment and cleanliness-those issues have improved over the last year. Sulpher AF is in an old strip mall--training here is simply NOT enjoyable. The Greenville and Commerce AF's are owned by the same guy-- he does a good job. Those are clean and well-maintained. Yet, you still get the east Texas "bible beater" crowd all trying to make good on their New Years resolution. They DO make it a challenge to train. I try to stick to Commerce and Greenville AF gyms most of the time but to be honest, the other members make it hard--now I find myself working out in the middle of the night and off hours when I'm alone. That was never the case when I trained at LA Fitness. Forget using the AF's in Tyler, Texas--it's East Texas!! Parts of East Texas are still "dry"--Tyler is one of them!! The members of these clubs all reflect the crazy Christian mentality. Both Tyler clubs are very small and underequipped--I have seen more floor space in a 7-11!! I find myself just wasting my time when I go to Tyler, AF's. The better equipped AF's are in the Dallas area--but still small: so I just pay the $15 visitation fee for LA fitness and lift at the Dallas LA Fitness "Signature" THAT GYM rocks! I also use LA Fitness Rowlett-- LA Fitness is simply a better gym! No questions about it. This is what I do when I go to Houston, Austin, Oklahoma City--I use LA Fitness brand! You can't even find an AF in Southern California! Probably because AF simply cannot compete with serious gyms like 24 hour, LA Fitness, ect. The serious gyms are larger, cleaner, better equipped, and more "up to date" on their corporate policy concerning, "diversity". Ive seen EXCELLENT "neighborhood gyms"-- sadly most AF's are not that. Yesterday, I got an email from AF corporate; they want to charge my partner and I (remember no family discount) 35.00 EACH for "administrative fees" (our bank account was compromised by fraud-B of A locked it and AF couldn't make the withdrawal). AF corp also wants to bill our individual monthly dues, and plus a 5.00 late fee each. That is $100 in fees and dues for one month! We have had AF since 2009--So now I have to fight AF over their excessive fees!! AF is being told "why should I pay you that when I can drive 50 miles to LA Fitness and get not only a better gym; one that's better equipped and offers a family duscount to gay men! There is also a gym at Texas A&M in Commerce! It has pools and everything- AF charges the same dues as the college but AF has half the service of the college! No cancel both memberships.." AF is NOT a gym to use if you work out seriously; its not friendly in some cases to LGBTQ community (case-by-case basis), and the corp office is willing to over charge on fees-- its worth the drive to any of the LA Fitness. If you travel--"heads up" when you get into these small gyms in small Texas towns! Remember your not in Los Angeles or Dallas-- the gyms and the members of those gyms can be openly hostil if you dont share "their values" read more
