    Loved it!!

Haven't had Puerto Rican food from a restaurant this good in such a long time. Absolutely pleasant staff. Only negative part affecting business is location & parking.

FIRST & LAST time I come here! My fiancé and I ordered the pernil (pork shoulder) to go with white rice and red beans. Once we got home to eat we saw that the pernil was dry, I mean super dry! I'm Puerto Rican and Cuban and my fiancé is Puerto Rican and we've never had pernil like this ever! The pernil was so dry it didn't even come apart, it was as if we were given turkey! So horrible! My fiancé called to get his money back and they said they've never had a complaint before. (Like they're really going to admit they've had a complaint before anyways). My advice if you want good Spanish food is to go to Quisqueya restaurant. A plate comes with your choice of meat rice and beans n a side of maduros or tostones, not a separate charge like La Fonda. & your pernil won't be dry as hell!

Heard about this place for a while now and now finally had the chance to experience it. The food was great. Tasty and cooked to perfection. Our waitress was the best. She really took care if us. It couldn't have been a better experience. Thanks for a great meal!

    Breaded steak!!

What can I say I'm coming back again!! The place is fantastic has that real Puerto Rican vibe to it. This has to be a classic in Middletown because the food is amazing!! The owner Pedro comes out asks questions tells you the menu and what else can I ask for!!

Much bigger inside than you'd think.

The meal started with a fresh, crispy salad, a good start to a delicious meal. My daughter and I had been craving Platanos Maduros (fried sweet plantain) for some time, so we had a plate of them for the table. Yum. I asked for a recommendation and our sweet and lovely waitress, Mary (I hope I spelled it right...I didn't ask how to spell it) suggested a Bandeja including Bistec (fried beef steak), chicharon (fried pork ribs), fried egg and chorizo (sausage) with rice and beans. My husband had a chicken dish and my daughter tried the Lomo Saltado (peppers and onions with beef strips and French fries). Sabroso! Everything that we had was of generous helping ...enough that we were able to get another entire meal each with our leftovers! We 3 people had 4 courses for under $60. Then, for dessert (it was my birthday), they brought a caramelized banana with ice cream and syrup and the whole staff came out and sang for me! The service was perfect, everyone so friendly --nd the atmosphere was pleasing...Simple, clean décor with a charming tin ceiling and exposed brick walls. I highly recommend Compas to anyone who is looking for a bit of Latin American cuisine at reasonable prices. We felt welcome and that we'd had a terrific meal at a bargain. UPDATE: I had the mixed seafood soup on a return visit and it is HEAVENLY! Not too salty, not loaded with flour or potato like so many soups which are too carby for me... The soup here is the perfect blend of whatever they put in there and TONS of luscious seafood. I took the second half home and had a delicious second meal of it. YUM!!! Order this soup! As my dining companion noted--It's worth the trip to Middletown just for this soup!

My 2 star rating is based more so on the service than the food. I have had better of both! I will…read morenot be returning here.
