    Kids cheeseburger with French fries

Warning: Cockroach I feel so bad for having to say this but with the current state of this place, I do not recommend. When entering, we were warmly greeted by the host who sat us instantly. The restaurant is decent sized and cutely decorated. The tables are all already set with a pitcher of water, bowl of chips and salsa. This was a nice surprise to us until an incident we encountered after we had already finished our food (more on that later). Our server was quick to come to our table, was friendly and helped us understand the menu. Our food came out at a reasonable time. The portions are pretty large. My husband ordered the larger sampler plate and was satisfied with his order. Our daughter and I ordered the special for the day which was two chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce and rice and beans. My daughter said she liked hers. I'm sort of a stickler for authentic tasting Mexican rice. The rice here was okay but lacked seasoning. Just very tomato-y. The beans were a bit undercooked but were also just okay. The enchiladas were good. I would just suggest they use a little less lime juice because ours was a bit over powered with it. Our son got the kids cheeseburger with French fries. The fries were on point. The burger was as good as a Mexican restaurant burger gets lol. It was edible Now, here's where our visit took an unfortunate and unexpected turn.... I had taken my son to use the restroom and there was a cockroach. I know these pests happen. But what worries me is that they leave out chips at every table. They even have stacks of bowl of chips at a counter out in the open. I don't know how well they try to control the roaches but I can't help but worry that they could find their way to the chips or any other food in the back? Overall, the staff were wonderful, the food was okay, the cockroach was a shocking surprise. Go at your own risk

Mexican food is my favorite and I'm always trying to find restaurants near my home that compare to the food I get when I am in Mexico - so was excited to try this place out. I asked our waiter what he recommended and he suggested the chili verde smothered burrito. I ordered it and it took up the whole plate. But overall it wasn't very big, they were just generous with the sauce - which I appreciate. I was shocked to see that if you wanted to add rice and beans to the burrito it was an extra $6! That is crazy in my opinion! The restaurant was nice and the staff were all very kind. We got seated fast and it didn't take long for our hot meals to be delivered to our table. Overall I wasn't blown away and what I ordered tasted more like American-Mexican food.

Always a great place for the family to enjoy great food and service! They get busy fast so make reservations if you can!

Small combo (enchilada, tostada, taco, and chili verde bean burrito)

This is a great restaurant. I highly recommend the chicken chimichanga or the small combo of your hungry. They have great chips and salsa, and the waiters are always super friendly and attentive. Overall this is likely one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the area and we plan on going back often!

Chips and salsa already at the table when I was seated.

Just ok overall. Waiter took a little while to take the order. Was seated in a section with tall partitions so I was able to waive anyone down. Well, at least chips, salsa a.d a pitcher of ice water was already at the table. The food was just okay. Sure, I only got a veggie burrito but in restaurants in California they load it up big. The veggie burrito here was made with like a Mission brand tortilla instead of the big thin taqueria style. Bellpeppers and rice inside were good but beans, cheese, onions, pico de gallo, and guacamole were just ok. Overall it felt like it was made from regular grocery store items; nothing really authentic. I'm glad it was better than I expected, seeing the low average rating on Yelp but my search still continues for some great mexican food in Utah.

That was the worst service ever! The good was sub par, window ads were misleading, and margaritas were very quite small.

Step inside and you will find a beautifully decorated space with an open kitchen greeting you at the entrance and a staff that is genuinely enthusiastic about the food they are serving. Ocotillo specializes in the cuisine of Sonora, Mexico, a region known for bold meat and seafood dishes. They also offer a daily brunch menu that is worth planning your weekend around. We ordered the tres leches pancakes, a triple stack that delivers exactly what the name promises. Bathed in a three milk mixture and topped with fresh berries and whipped cream, moist but not to sweet. The Sonorense combination was equally impressive. Arrachera steak strips, chilaquiles made with poblano chile, a tamal de elote, and two eggs. The arrachera was excellent and the chilaquiles were crispy, which is exactly how they should be and not something every kitchen gets right. The menu is long enough that choosing something different next time will be a genuine challenge. Omelettes, chilaquiles, brioches, and other specialties give you plenty of reasons to return. We are already looking forward to exploring the lunch and dinner menu. Slightly more expensive than a standard breakfast spot, but the generous portions and the quality of the ingredients justify every dollar. Five stars without hesitation.

I've been curious to try it since someone described it to me as "a cheaper and just as delicious Sol Agave." It was cheaper and it was as delicious but the dishes lack the novelty that sol agave has. Our favorite things we tried on the menu: - Baja fish tacos - Birria tacos (the salsa that comes with these had a great toasted deep flavor) The inside is clean and looks like a typical sit down restaurant - nothing to note here. The service was super kind but they were sorely understaffed. There was only 1 lady attending to about 7 different groups, I felt bad for her.
