I don't live near here anymore but I would still love to review. I swear, seconds after ordering, your food comes out fresh and ready, it's fantastic! The workers are nice and always help out with your troubles. The fries are so similar to McDonald's if you were wondering, but I should say they're even better here. You get a ton of fries in a small size so that's good. Their fry sauce and hot sauce perfectly go well on everything. The inside is nice, it's kind of tiny, though, so seats are limited if it is super busy. read more

I enjoyed the bandido and would definitely order it again. It was my first time eating it and it was tasty. I loved the beans and the beef. The olives and jalapeños were a perfect addition to add some extra flavor. The shell was crispy too. The fries got soggy quickly, so I ended up only have a few and throwing the rest away. The cookie shake was a 2/5 for me. Too basic and didn't have a lot of flavor in the vanilla ice cream. Taco Amigo is one of those places where I go once every couple of years. Food was absolutely horrible. Their house "hot sauce" tasted like watery ketchup and their enchilada sauce tasted like marinara sauce. Not to mention it was served submerged in the sauce. Way too much sauce. It was basically soup. Their soft tacos were super dry. Like shockingly dry. No type of sauce or wet element in it. A speck of Dry chicken, an abundance of iceberg lettuce and shredded cheese were the only ingredients. Very unfortunate. The beans were serving in a side plastic bowl with cold red sauce on top so the bite was a funky contrast between the hot beans and the cold sauce. Flavor of beans were fine tho. I ate here in 2019, and it was so gross; my enchilada sauce was ketchup. Worst Mexican ever. Poor customer service, too; the owner screamed at me online over the review. I decided, hey, after almost 7 years, maybe they improved. Time to give it a 2nd chance. Open mind. Worst decision at the worst "Mexican" place I've ever eaten at in nearly 60 years. 2 tacos that were the most bland, small, plain that would make Taco Bell tacos seem like fine dining. The thing was 90% lettuce. $2.50 for nothing really. They love selling shakes and reading the other reviews; the shakes are the only thing worth going for, evidently, I wouldn't know. Utahns love their sugar shacks like crackheads love crack. Most Utahns seem never to leave the state, so they have no idea what good food is, and their Yelp reviews are always suspect. If you like fries and fry sauce- this is the place. They have good burgers and an oddly addictive bean and cheese burrito (dip it in fry sauce and show your a local...it's weird but delicious!) One thing that is a MUST- when they are in season is.....FRESH PEACH SHAKES! The peaches come farm to table - grown in taco amigos family farm.... It's wildly delicious. If you are coming for any type of Mexican food you may be disappointed because it's more American Mexican- (ground beef - shredded cheese - sour cream... you get the picture) They are more known for their burgers and fries! My expectations were low but woof this was a rough one. My husband got a soft chicken taco and all the chicken had no seasoning. The burger was also lacking flavor and the fry sauce was mainly just mayo so it didn't help much. The shakes here are great tho and are worth getting Also the service was super efficient considering the restaurant was packed and all the workers at the time looked no older than 18. They seriously were so kind and were 10/10. If you're looking for a good quick meal I'd avoid Taco Amigo but if you're going for a sweet treat, I'd say it's worth a visit. read more

This was the spot growing up and it's still my go-to when I'm in UC. I was sad to see such a low rating but then realized it's because everyone who knows TA knows how good it is without retreating to Yelp and if they are new customers the line wrapped around the building speaks for itself. The fries and shakes (their seasonal shakes specifically) are their best items but I also love their meat and cheese burritos and burgers. Taco Amigo is a wonderful spot! I needed something specifically at the Walmart nearby and then I was craving some Mexican food. Taco Amigo popped up as a suggested spot and I was excited to try it for the first time! They have some parking or a drive through you can opt for. I didn't feel like sitting down, so I decided to scoot through the drive through. There were a few employees standing by the drive through entrance. Unbeknownst to me, this was similar to a soda shop/Chick-Fil-A where they have the employees outside with iPads to take your order, rather than you ordering through the speaker. The girl that took my order was so freaking nice. She complimented my name and my tattoo when I was placing my order. With it being my first time, I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted but she was super patient and didn't make me feel rushed. With how good the service was, I was convinced she was gonna flip the screen around and ask me a few questions, which I would've been fine with...but she didn't. There was no option to tip, so this was even more telling. It seems as if she was just genuinely being nice and not trying to get anything more out of it. Admittedly, the line did seem to take a bit longer than I feel it should've. Maybe there was a big order ahead but to me, it just seemed to take a whilleeee to get the food. Once I got up to the window, the people inside were super nice to and assured me my food would be out in just a moment. I ordered a smothered bean and beef burrito and a tiger's blood glacier. Once I got the food, I took it back to my house in Lehi. The food was pretty good but nothing amazing. However, it was not a sit down restaurant, it was a drive through, so I wasn't really expecting anything out of this world. All in all, I really liked my visit to Taco Amigo. It is conveniently located right off of State street and a great spot to the PG neighborhood. I would love to come back sometime again! read more

I was devastated to hear of the owner passing away when he was picking peaches in his peaches orchard for the fresh peach shakes! This is definitely a Pleasant Grove spot when you're in Pleasant Grove, a MUST stop! I love their (seasonal) fruit shakes here such as raspberry, peach, and strawberry shakes. What I really come here for are two things (besides the shakes): their fries and their bandido - a sort of Mexican pizza that takes me back to my nostalgic Taco Bell Mexican pizza (which no longer exists - QUE the tears!). And one of the familia recently commented that their fries taste JUST LIKE good o'l McDs fries, which I'm a HUGE fan of. Tried their fries recently....CONFIRMED. They taste just like McDs fries....and you get more of a serving of their fries here too....more bang for your buck! If you have never had authentic mexican food you may not be disappointed. This restaurant is Jack in the Box meets 7/11. The bright spots were that the fries were good and the shakes were very good. We did not have a hamburger so we can't comment on them. The nachos, enchiladas, and retried beans were lukewarm and tasted like they were not microwaved to the correct temperature. Taco Amigo, did you change your fries? There are now skins on the fries and it has changed the flavor of your product. Trying to stay away from nostalgia here, these may be for some people but for me this is an unfortunate loss in my book. For the first time in say 20+ years, I wasted TA fries, about half of the large bag. I'm still giving for stars, because your big amigos are on point still. Please don't change them either. You have definitely come a long way since the days of your dining areas being closed for covid and the wait time in the drive through was quicker than normal. Bonus!!! Because we all know we get to happily wait a little bit to get our TA. This is why you get the four stars today. Operationally, big win. Their seasonal peach shake in the fall was very good but not their food, I'll only get shakes from here in the future.

Not the cheapest shakes in all the land, but definitely some tasty ones! Their FRESH strawberry shake is seasonal starting first week of June through end of summer, and their FRESH peach shake is seasonal for the month of September only. They are delicious, just not sure they're worth $5+ for a regular size. Actually I know they're not, but I'll keep coming back because they do pack a lot of fruit in each shake! TIP: if you're a Utah shake lover, make sure to ask for yours to be "thick"! Otherwise the texture is quite runny, more milkshake like. read more

I came here with a group of about 30 and the staff was incredibly friendly and nice to all of us! The did an excellent job getting our food out fast and warm for the whole group! They did mess up one order but quickly fixed it and comped some fries. I got the Big Amigo and it was the same great taste as always. I also got the peanut butter shake and it was delicious! There was big chunks of chocolate and peanut butter cups as well as perfectly blended small pieces. I would totally get it again! read more

I have eaten here many times in the past and really like this place but haven't been for quite a while since I don't work in the area anymore. I should have reviewed it long ago. My staple is their meat burrito and fries. Burrito is always tasty and fries are hot, salty and stay crisp. This latest time I came we came just for the peach shakes. They were a must try since their strawberry shakes are out of this world. Both are seasonal so make a note to get their strawberry shakes in the late summer and their peach shakes in the early to mid fall. If you're at all a fan of fruit shakes these are 'can't miss' shakes. Get the food too, it's really good fast food Mexican food. Right now (Covid) their dining room is closed but their drive through is very fast and efficient. I was about 15th in line and we made it through in about 10 to 15 minutes. When we left, the line was longer than when we got there. That should tell you what you need to know as to whether or not to try their food. read more

My family stopped through the drive-thru after my son's football game. We were shorted my nachos supreme. My wife and I went back immediately (5 min away) and they were closed. I talked to an employee and explained that I didn't get all of my order. She returned and explained that they were closed so there was nothing she could do. I asked what they did with my food. She replied that they threw it away. I questioned why they didn't think that the person who ordered it would return to get it. She had no answer. I asked for a refund and was told that I must come back tomorrow and speak with the manager. Needless to say, I paid for a nacho supreme but got a cold bowl of cereal for dinner and I get to drive, again, to their business. From their shakes to their fries The only gripe I have is the line is ALWAYS long (probably because it's so yummy) and the tortillas are always very floury and dry, but hey everything else has made my stomach DELIGHTED during June and august they have fresh strawberry and fresh peach shakes that are the BEES KNEES But the bestest thing of all is their fries and the fry sauce... the fry sauce is the holy grail! read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. I'm a total Utahn so I most commonly go here for French fries and their absolutely AMAZING fry sauce. The service is always really good, especially when they are not super busy. My favorite things to order are a strawberry shake (especially when they have their fresh ones), a large fry, and 6 fry sauces. The inside is always really nice to be in. I'm not certain what I'm missing that everyone else seems to like. Everytime I've driven by, there's been a line. Typically, that's considered a good sign... The first time I went, I ordered a peach shake and the enchilada combo plate. The shake was odd, it seemed to be a peach syrup and chunks, as best as I could compare it with would be the stuff in "fruit on the bottom" yogurt. Wasn't a fan. The combo plate was very bland. Literally something I could have whipped up when I was a starving college student in my low rent apartment. Not inedible, but not something I would have ever expected from a food business. So, thinking it may have been a one off, I tried a second visit a few weeks later. Got their version of a Big Mac, or something along the lines of Artic Circle ranch burger. It was a bit better than the last combo plate, but was really "meh". Okay, thinking third time's the charm, went just before Christmas. Ordered two soft shell beef tacos and a chicken burrito. It was flashback to making it myself in college, except now it tasted like the meat had been cooked a week prior, and was on the verge of needing tossed out. This is my favorite place for ice cream and fresh fruit (peaches and strawberries) shakes. Haven't had their burgers, but I imagine they probably taste how you'd think they would from teenage cooks at a Mexican-American food place. Tried the Bandido off a friend's recommendation and it isn't bad. A fried flour tortilla base with a layer of refried beans, sprinkling of seasoned ground beef, lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream, black olives, and jalapeño slices. We don't do spicy, but this is bland without salsa (had to ask for it; more like a tomato sauce) and chopped jalapeños. They're pickled, so not usually as spicy, but in giant slices - we cut them into quarters and have a tiny piece on each bite. Next time I'd ask for extra or double meat because I couldn't taste much of it. The employees here are always cheery and the drive thru goes at a decent speed unless one car has a bunch of separate orders. It's packed in here on the weekend evenings. read more

This is one place that definitely has is local followers which is why it's always busy. It's American Mexican fast food with shakes. I know a lot of people who eat here on a weekly basis, I on the other hand like to come here once every couple months. Typically we get nachos with extra cheese on the side, fries (the large will feed a family - it's huge), cheeseburger, hamburger (ask to add peppers - which is your Jalapeno peppers), bean burrito (with pink sauce - they put fry sauce in the burrito), meat burrito, and shakes Oreo and peanut butter. Their hot sauce is very watery and not much flavor, but their fry sauce is pretty good. The burgers are very small with a very thin bun, so don't expect for some fancy thick burger; it's not going to happen. You can customize pretty much everything on their menu. I can say they are very consistent and their staff is always really friendly. They added a booth at the Pleasant Grove location for the staff to be on standby and take orders early on and have cones to guide those going through the drive through. The other option is you can pickup curbside where they have 5 spaces for you to park and pickup. read more

It is comfort and happiness. It's my favorite place to eat. Anywhere. It is what I want to eat when I'm sick. When im celebrating. When im having a bad day. I showed up hungry (usually the perfect setup for a glowing review) and treated myself to the Burrito Supreme, which after 20 minutes in the drive-through line turned out to be two scoops of refried beans and mystery meat with sour cream, olives and lettuce in a grocery-store tortilla.
