What a gem!!! To find Mexican style ice cream over here is such a treat. Nieve de garrafa is the style of ice cream and it's usually more of a sorbet like texture. Very smooth and refreshing with natural ingredients or flavors! I love it cause it's a lot lighter than US ice creams. We got the flavors - coconut & strawberry hibiscus, horchata, mango and lime with tajin and chamoy All were hits! My favorite was the coconut. The interior was nice and looks newly renovated. They had A/C on a hot day and a cute little patio. There was also parking. The service was quick, and the cashier understood both English and Spanish. She was friendly too. We will be back!

You get A LOT for the price! Well worth it! Looking for a treat? COME HERE NOW!!!!! Plenty of choices, easy parking and nice tables available inside.

This brings me back to my mom and dad home town in Yahualica Jalisco. Best chocolate abuelita so far I have tasted especially the small pieces of Chocolate you get with every bite you take. And the other flavor I got was the horchata taste just if you are having the drink. Yea I know I had it for yesterday with the rain lol but I was craving ice cream yesterday and this hit the spot I needed it yesterday. I got the pint and it was around $6.75 I think I paid $14 for two pints come and support our small business in Montebello you won't regret this delicious ice cream

Was in the area and had to see what the rave was about, and it did not disappoint! So many fun flavors and I had to go with the pineapple/coconut to cool down from such a hot day. The place is cute and small with lots of people getting their ice cream to go. Super friendly, who I am assuming is the owner.

They have water based and milk based flavors. i got a double scoop with nuez and chocolate de mi abuelita. good flavors. my sister got vanilla and we shared a tostilocos. everything was so yummy. prices are reasonable.

We had just finished lunch at BLVD and my wife wanted something sweet. We decided to come check this place out and it did not disappoint. I love their ice cream flavors and everything tasted so fresh and natural. The worker was really friendly too even after all the samples my wife asked for.

Cute little nieve spot in Montebello. I've been been here about 2 or 3 times. The water-based nieves are really good (could be a little sweeter). They have so many flavors to choose from! My favorite flavors so far are the taro (milk-based) and blended berry (water-based). There is plenty of seating inside but it usually feels a bit warm so we take our nieve to go. Wait times have always been very short too. Overall, I recommend this little hidden gem!

um....WOW This place is amazing! Water and milk based ice creams in various flavors popular in Mexican culture. I got the Limon con tajin and it was so good! I'm excited to go back and try more flavors and maybe even some nachos or other snacks! Open at noon, so a perfect after work stop! read more

It's hard to find nieve de garrafa where I'm from so I was stoked to come across this during my trip to Los Angeles. This water based ice cream is so refreshing yet so flavorful that I'm willing to drive anywhere to get it. Lol My go-to flavors are Fresa and nuez. When I saw they had a horchata flavor, you know I had to jump on that. The guy working that day was very nice. If you're in the area, definitely recommend you stop by. read more

Love this place! If you're looking for nieve de garrafa then come here. They have a bunch of traditional flavors like vanilla and limon but they also do special flavors like horchata, Mazapan, and strawberry with jamaica. They have an apple mint flavor that is DELICIOUS. The owner and his daughter are always friendly and welcoming. They have a small but comfortable patio in the back that's fresh and relaxing. Come here, you won't regret it. read more

This is a really really great spot to try nieve de garrafas (Mexican Sorbet). They have water and milk based nieves such as mango, fresa, watermelon, vanilla, nuez, dulce de leche and raspberry, among others. They also have various cup sizes in case you want a small or a quart. I think they also have tostilocos and other snacks. they also have some custom ice creams. The staff is wearing masks and are behind a plastics screen when ordering; also, there's plenty of street parking. A little suggestion... go get a car wash across the street and get some nieve de garrafas while you wait! read more

Shout out to my yelp bestie for introducing this place to me. SO MANY GOOD FLAVORS. And latin inspired flavors ofc as well! As an asian you def gotta like the taro right? and the galleta was amazing. They have chocolate de abuelita as well. which... tastes just like abuelita! lol. They have MAMEY!??!?! and GUANABANA sorbet??? both south american fruits which taste amazing. Mamey is like a nutty sweet flavor? like a hint of papaya i think. and the texture of an avocado. it's wild. the flavor is hard to describe. like... how would you describe an apple? lol. anyways. Guanabana is one of my fav drinks (you might have seen them in those soursop flavored juice boxes). They have Marzipan and horchata as well. pistachio... mango dragonfruit sorbet, passionfruit sorbet... jamaica sorbet? piña sorbet... man its like you could make the ultimate mangonada here. I really wanted to try every single flavor but felt bad lol. Next time... tomorrow? hmmm... But yeah! plenty of options for vegans. Did I mention they also have savory options too?!??! They have esquites! Doriesquites? Tostilocos? I've been craving all that since I watched netflix's heavenly bites: Mexico. This is our family's favorite ice cream spot. We visit at least one time a week. Mostly because our toddler bosses us around to take her! LOL Her fav is limon w/ tajin. My husband loves this also but adds Chamoy. My choice is simple, green tea! It's sooo amazing! Their ice cream selection is either water base or milk based. They also have some snacks and drinks in case you're in the mood. They serve street corn in a cup (esquites), hot Cheetos with nacho cheese and all the yummy snacks. Most important, the owners (workers) are so nice and welcoming. There is another Mexican once cream spot down the street but this place feels more authentic and gotta love a small biz! read more

This place is definitely a hidden gem! I was greeted immediately upon walking inside by the owner and he was very patient and helpful. The ice cream was amazing and the flavors were delicious! The ambiance inside was decorated very beautifully and they had a couple of tables to sit down to enjoy. I found this place through Yelp as I was in search of nieve de garrafa and La Garrafa MX did not disappoint. They're a small shop but they have high quality ice cream and really really sweet customer service. There was a line so I didn't get to ask if they were the owners but there was a kind man named Leo and a sweet woman named Sam I believe. I tried Vainilla, Galleta, and Taro and they were sooo good, I was especially surprised by the Taro flavor. My favorite favorite ice cream is the Limon. It's perfect! Their ice cream is so creamy and it seems really natural too; I noticed that they don't seem to add artificial colors. If you haven't tried nieve de garrafa or this place, you reeeeeally need to! I'm so glad I came to this hidden Montebello gem! read more

We came across this ice cream shop today and I am amazed. I had been on a hunt to find yummy nieve de garrafa and I finally found it! This place has some high quality ice cream. It has been the best I've had. I have tried the chocolate, cookies and cream, vanilla, horchata and coconut flavors. Absolutely LOVE this place! I remember hearing about this kind of icy treat through TikTok but the place they featured was from somewhere far away. I was surprised to find this place and really wanted to try it. The first time we came here we shared 1 cup of nieve and immediately regretted doing so. WE WANTED MORE!! Today we came back and I got myself a double scoop ( 1/2 vanilla + 1/2 chocolate) and my boyfriend got a single scoop (mango) and it was the perfect treat for a hot day!!!! This ice cream spot definitely HITS the spot on a hot summer day! The water-based and dairy-based flavors are so light, refreshing, and delicious. If you're in the Montebello area, you should make sure to stop by for a sweet treat. It's also super reasonably priced. My friends and I ordered: 2 scoops, 2 scoops, and 1 scoop which came out to be less than $10 total. The strawberry and lime combo was recommended and amazing! Great little spot, the ice cream is delicious for the coffee lovers recommend the coffee flavor I think it says it is made with oat milk and does taste like real coffee, they also have sugar free ice cream which is strawberry flavor. Will be returning to try more flavors read more

Taste delicious, some of you might have not tried this type ice cream before...the US has Sorbet, Italians have Gelato, Mexico has Nieve de Garaffa. I would say it's sort of a sorbet but with a lot more fruit flavor. The thing that I liked about this place is that it's clean , great ice cream and good service. The flavor that I tasted was so good and it wasn't overly sweet and it tasted fresh. I will be coming back. read more

OMG La Garrafa MX is literally a hidden gem in Montebello. They have a great variety of flavors. If you're lactose intolerant no worries they got you! :) Their nieves are so good that we went back for another scoop and nachos that same day lol! I had their nieve de taro, nuez and chocolate abuelita - soooo good! I'm so happy I found this place because not many businesses have nieve de garrafa. I emailed him the photo ideas I had and the cake decorator was able to accomplish the task! John was in consistent communication with me throughout my two week in-advanced order. The decorator did such an amazing job and my family was so happy with the results. The cake and ice cream also tasted delicious! During pick up, the workers greeted me as I entered. I was helped by John and he reassured me that the cake was indeed chocolate ice cream/chocolate cake. I appreciated that he checked before the outside icing went on. After an hour, we returned--only to be told it would be another 30 minutes. At that point, I asked if my sons' memberships were active through Regional Center. The employee flipped through a notebook and couldn't even locate one of my son's memberships. We left because my son's patience was gone, which is directly related to his autism. This entire experience left a very sour taste. If a business offers social recreation services through Regional Center, accurate hours and organized membership records are essential. What's even more upsetting is that I later discovered Regional Center was charged for six months of membership, even though we never attended or used the membership at all. I never signed a contract agreeing to ongoing charges. I also received a text stating the membership would not be active if we didn't attend--yet they still billed Regional Center. Also, never extended services. Between the inaccurate hours, lack of accommodation, disorganization, and billing issues, I would not recommend this business to Regional Center families.

Okay... this place is officially one of my favorite ice cream spots now. The customer service was incredible everyone was so friendly, patient, and genuinely passionate about their flavors. They let us sample a bunch of options, and honestly...every single one was a hit. We tried Strawberry Jamaica, Guanabana, Nuez, Green Tea Matcha, Mango, Pistachio, and Chocolate Abuelita - and WOW. The flavors were rich, unique, and perfectly balanced. Nothing was overly sweet, which made the ice cream taste even more authentic and high quality. The texture was super creamy and smooth, and you can tell everything is made with care. My personal favorites were Pistachio, Nuez, and Chocolate Abuelita, but truly there wasn't a bad flavor in the lineup. What impressed me the most was the absence of artificial food coloring, which is often present in Limon ice cream elsewhere. It's refreshing to find a place that prioritizes natural ingredients. I recently visited La Garrafa and was excited to try Garrafa for the first time! Luckily, it's not too far from me, making it a convenient stop. The place is family-owned, which adds a nice touch to the experience. They are patient, kind, and informative. Inside, it's small but cozy, with a few tables to sit at. The parking lot is also small, but the prices are fair. I tried the Coco de Mi Abuelita and the Horchata, and both were delicious! The customer service here is amazing! The owner is super nice, welcoming, and very informative. I was stuck between two flavors, and he kindly offered me samples to help me decide. My mom especially loved the mango with chamoy--it was delicious! They also have seating both inside and outside the store.
