Food was amazing! Very fresh and felt high quality. My favorite was the pizza bread they served before the meals. A bit pricey as I paid 16 dollars on top of the price of my salad for the shrimp. Upscale ambiance in river oaks. Valet parking available. The service was decent. For apps we got the Burrata .. very bland, poor quality Burrata and it was sitting on a bed of green that were barely seasoned??? Terrible. Margarita pizza was good with fresh tomatoes ( my kid ended up eating this). I got the eggplant parm with penne in cream sauce. The eggplant was very good, classic dish; however the cream sauce tasted terrible and had some strange after taste. Place is not kid friendly. Kids can eat the pizza or the pasta side. They don't have a changing table in the bathroom. Don't know if they have high chairs we brought our own. Cookies at the end were good. Won't be coming again. This restaurant has recently relocated to this current address on W. Dallas in Houston. They've done a marvelous job with the layout and decor. It's got the glamorous Hollywood appeal of the Jane Mansfield and Marilyn Monroe era. The service and food is out of this world! We had a disappointing New Year's Eve at La Griglia. There were a couple major service faults, including a wine special that was not provided until we had ordered, which would have changed my order, and then the server charging us initially for the wrong order. I was very excited to see the 2015 Dom Perignon by the glass, but it seemed very lackluster. It is my first time trying this vintage, as I have only tried the wonderful 2012 and 2013 versions, but I am left wondering if the poor showing of the wine was due to the service, such as the bottle being left open for too long. read more

We will not be back here. There is a large man stalking around that made us uncomfortable. Not sure if he is security or the Sommelier but all we got were grimaces and bad vibes from him. I have never felt more unwelcome. For reference we were two brown women and two kids. The children were well behaved and on our reservation in advance so I don't see why they would have caused us to get treated poorly. One of our were spilled and it was completely full. No one offered us another drink and they had the audacity to put it on the bill. The $58 pasta didn't taste different than a Alfredo you can get at olive garden and the man who made it seemed like he hated his job. a manager came around to check on people and our table was skipped. We had a 2 year old and a 4 month old in a car seat and no one helped us in or out of any doors. $282 for two people to eat didn't seem to be enough for them. Nothing we ate wowed us and the food was bland in general. We love a good meal and are willing to pay for it. I tipped 20% because I didn't want to reinforce any stereotypes that people who look like us don't but I give the service a 2/10. You might choose differently if you are looking for something other than a superficial dining experience. read more

I truly enjoyed my Sunday Brunch here at La Griglia! Dressed code enforced here by the way so now shorts, hats athletic wear etc. The ambiance is so beautiful inside and out so it checks out. We were seated at the outside patio which was covered so didn't feel uncomfortable at all in the Houston heat. We were immediately greeted by our server as soon as we sat down and order sparking water and drinks. I ordered the white sangria, which tasted pretty bland, despite having Aperol as one of the ingredients so I was surprised by that. However, the food itself completely made up for the drink choice! I ordered the shrimp and crab "cheesecake" and omg that will be my staple antipasti any time I visit in the future! It's incredibly delicious and so flavorful. It's baked mascarpone which is so fluffy and light and the lemon pesto just takes it to another level. I also love the presentation too. I also ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes and my bf ordered the Colazione Americana. You can tell by the size of these plates the portions are definitely Texas sized which we loved. Both meals were yummy and we had enough for leftovers as well. We had a lovely time at brunch here and I would definitely come back! read more

Just very surprised the place has such high ratings... Food was obviously precooked, served extremely quickly, and was cold. Portions are abysmally small and Costco offers a better chocolate pie than the "hazelnut chocolate torte"that does not contain any chocolate mousse as claimed on the menu. Great place for a dinner meeting. The banquet room is so charming with the murals that transport you to Little Italy. Have been here several times for dinner meetings. They are definitely able to balance serving the meal with a speaker or speakers. The bread basket is so good. Love the thin slices of pizza bread. Tomato on a garlic pizza base. So delicious. The other breads with whole grains and garlic are also yummy. Don't fill up before your entree comes. The roasted tomato soup and caprese salads are great starters. The eggplant parmesan is amazing. Not always on the menu, but can be requested. Their grilled redfish is also very good. Love the roasted zucchini and charred tomatoes that accompany the fish. Banquet menu desserts range from a tart key lime pie to strawberry cheesecake. Valet parking is available, but there is also a large parking garage as well. Banquet menus start at $35 for a starter, entree and a dessert. A great value for a dinner meeting. read more

This seems to be one of those places to go especially for the political types. Each time I've been I've run into someone from that world. I quite enjoyed the Southwest salad with the chicken and fruit and candy nuts etc etc. About 20 bucks for a medium size salad is a little pricey, but it's high quality. They also have an assortment of bread while you wait for your food to show up. As well as some complimentary little cookies as dessert. On top of that, the service is quite good. When you put it all together, you do get your money's worth here. Good place to have a meeting. There is valet out front, but I prefer the parking garage in the back. read more

Absolutely horrible meal. I was with some friends visiting from out of town and I chose this restaurant. I will never make that mistake again. I have eaten before and the food was good . It is an attractive restaurant. I ordered the cream of artichoke soup. It was so salty I almost choked on the first taste. We arrived and 6:15pm. We did not leave until almost 8:30 because the service was so slow. Three of the four of us ordered a veal dish ; the fourth ordered a veal chop. The veal was finally served ice cold. Mine was so tough and stringy it could not be enjoyed. I could not finish it as I needed a steak knlfe to cut it. The apples in the autumn salad were mealy and the lettuce should have been thrown out . About thirty minutes after we ordered someone came out and confirmed our order. They referred to the veal chop as a pork chop. Obviously mistakes were made by the kitchen. That is still no excuse to serve cold food . Houston has many fine restaurants. This is , apparently, no longer one of them. read more

But most of the food we ordered was mediocre, especially considering the raised prices and that everything is now a la carte. (sie=des about $15 each). This is a popular Italian spot in an upscale part of town. There is a large room that is available to reserve for events. Eccentric murals painted on the walls and fun mosaic pillars - very unique atmosphere. It can get pretty loud - I went with a group of friends on Friday evening and we did need to raise our voices to be heard by each other! The wait staff is very attentive and professional. The bring rolls and small pizza slices as you look at the menu. Lots of variety on the drinks menu. The cucumber basil gimlet - excellent! I ordered the wild mushroom lasagna - it was a generous slice with tons a mushrooms (too many for my taste - I don't think I would order this again). Had a good time here! read more

We were brought a bread basket with an assortment of delicious breads. These are delivered to every table. It was a little hard to find the place from the valet parking lot but it's towards the street, opposite of the parking lot entrance. I ordered the creamed broccoli soup, and the ravioli. It was very delicious. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I got a strange vibe that I didn't quite belong there or that my presence was very different from their usual customer type. It seemed that the crowd there (at least at the time of my lunch) was much older. I felt slightly odd and uncomfortable for the most part at the random stares from the hostesses and other customers, so I am unsure if I would return but the food was absolutely delicious. It may be a better spot for dinner. read more

From the decor to the impeccable service, this place strives to do what so many other restaurants seem to forget about - timely service, attention to detail, well prepared food and presentation! We started the Bufala Caprese which the cheese was creamy, heirloom tomatoes, and fresh basil was the perfect way to start. Next I went with the bucatini amatriciana with crispy pancetta, sweet onions and perfectly ripe San Marzano tomatoes and fresh Parmesan cheese. Just incredible mouth full of flavor. My wonderful hubby got the Pasta ALLA RUOTA which is made in a huge wheel of Parmesan which shaved winter black truffles and prepared tableside. Wow! What horrible service from Waiter Alex. It was not a busy night. He messed up every order and only put half in. He was rude and ignored us most of the time. When we asked about our food orders, he dismissed us and said the manager would take care of it. Ordered restaurant week menu and 6 drinks, took 2 hours. Last hour? Only came by if we asked for Him. They would deliver one appetizer, not the other. One dessert but not the other. Good food and drinks but you have to practically beg the staff and flag down Manager to get any service. read more

During the pre-cell phone days of my youth, before the Internet of Things and the Anthropocene Age, I always mistakenly thought La Griglia was just a rich folks' hangout in River Oaks. Nowadays, though, La Griglia seems like a much more accessible, high quality restaurant which is actually less expensive than many of the fine dining or quality Italian restaurants in Houston. Having recently ordered the roasted chicken pizza, which is great, I am convinced the rest of the menu is just as good. What I like about La Griglia's pizza is the thin crust and combination of ingredients: garlic, roasted tomato, a thin layer of mozzarella, basil, goat cheese and roasted chicken. The surprise addition of biscotti in the pizza box was a nice touch. Look forward to dining in at La Griglia in the future. read more

My only complaint is the "strictly enforced" dress code must not be "strictly enforced" if you are a "special someone" A very tall man (I can only assume was perhaps a professional basketball player) came in with his date/wife and had baggy shorts on past his knees and untied tennis shoes. His date/wife was dressed very nice. I have NO problem with what he was wearing! I just do not understand the "strictly enforced" dress code that is noted by the entrance to the restaurant and on the website. ‍ We live in Houston, there are a lot of "special people" here; shouldn't your dress code apply to all? read more
