First morning after arriving in Key West. I went to watch the sunrise, then stopped here on the way back to the apartment. Food: They have an amazing assortment of pastries and desserts. I ordered a hot chai latte and an almond croissant. Both were good. The chai had nice froth and a decent amount of concentrate, giving it good flavor. It was warm, though it would have been better if it had been hotter. The croissant was good, but there may have been too much filling, which made it soggy in the middle. It was a bit messy to eat. Service: I received a friendly greeting when I arrived. They let me pick a spot out front at a counter overlooking Duval Street. The server came over promptly and took my order. There were plenty of friendly smiles and helpful assistance. Atmosphere: The place is cute, with seating both inside and outside. The outdoor seating is especially nice if you're by yourself and want either some quiet time or the opportunity to strike up a conversation with others. I'd stop again, and likely try something different next time.

Omg such a cute spot to sit outside. Definitely order yourself a lavender mimosa it's very refreshing and delicious. I got the chicken panini and it was amazing with pesto and a good cheese pull. Amazing food and excellent service.

Randomly stopped in here while exploring Key West. It was the large menu posted on the front door that caught my eye. So many enticing items! I was confident everyone in my party of 8 could find something right for them. No problem being seated right away. It was a Tuesday around 2:30 PM. I struggled to decide what to get. It was very helpful to have the picture menu, available upon scanning the QR code. I delayed ordering due to indecision, but most of our party moved forward. Therefore their food arrived in a more timely manner. Once I finally did order, it took awhile to receive my food. Our server kept us updated, though. He checked in often to make sure we had all we needed. The food is very tasty. I enjoyed my quiche, which had layers of creamy goodness. Also a nice crispness to the crust. There's a bright, airy feel to the place. Indoor & outdoor seating available. It's a charming spot to savor some delicious bites.

Everything was excellent! So many things that I wanted to try on their extensive and delicious menu. Cute spot, and the service was quick and friendly. I had a yummy open faced smoked salmon on sourdough and my partner has a belt on a croissant. Be careful of upcharge on the potatoes, avocado, and some bread choices( including croissant) $3.50 extra each. Was it worth it? The little dish of potatoes probably not! Also side note soup was okay; the broth was not as dark and rich as we were expecting, but also not as salty at it sometimes is.

First time exploring Key West, and with an early start, we decided on a lighter fare because we knew we would be experiencing a bunch of the local flavors. But!!!!! First... we needed coffee. This bakery, slightly off the beaten path, but offered seating facing the street, where my wife and I enjoyed people watching while sipping on our coffee and pastry. We are out here celebrating our 30th Anniversary, and what better way to start the day with a small bite to get us going. I had an Americano, where the wife had the Lavender Mimosa. Both were perfect compliments to the incredible pastry (I forgot what it was exactly but perhaps the picture will tell you) we split. It was not sweet, but had a delicious tartness to it. It was fantastic! Thank you for the quick bite and the laughs my wife and I enjoyed while sitting street side people watching. I'll be looking for this place next time we come with friends! We dropped into this place for some quick cold brews, and came back every day for the rest of our trip. Why go anywhere else when they literally have SOME OF THE BEST COLD BREW I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I'm also a harsh critic when it comes to cold brew specifically. They are very quick especially if you're just getting something to go, and also we are once for done in, and it was great service and a charming vibe. Pastries (croissants and pan au chocolate) were also amazing, so of course the croissant breakfast was bomb. Highly recommend.

Come early because there is a line. Although you can go and order your coffee and get a pastry to tie you over until you get a table. It's a busy place, what I can I say. Very casual atmosphere. Hubby got the American plate and they gave plenty of crispy bacon. He ate everything. I got the ratatouille since that is not something you normally see. I make my own but theirs was pretty good with the pastry although some of the pastry gets a little soggy. Didn't care too much for the egg. The latte was delicious. Light in coffee flavor and didn't make me jittery. Also had to try their honey cake which is like several layer of very thin cake with cream in between. It was good but definitely sweet so have some tea with it or black coffee. Overall a good meal.

Quaint bakery and cafe in Upper Duval, a great little place away from the large crowds. Fast service, and the food was absolutely amazing. The Eggs Benedict with bacon was piled with 12 slices of crispy bacon and the egg was perfectly poached. The prices were also much better than your other breakfast/brunch places 2 blocks up Duval at the typical touristy hotspots. Do yourself a favor and grab breakfast/brunch here, and get a piece of lemon pistachio cake on the way out for a snack!

We stumbled on La Grignote & we are so glad we did! We had a cold brew with sugar free vanilla & almond milk - delish & great strong coffee! My salad - Katie's Salad - was so good - healthy & a great portion! We also had the pesto chicken panini - also excellent! The highlight though - was meeting the owner Denis! He has worked so hard to make La Grignote a place you want to come back to over & over! Plus he gave us great tips about Key West. Be sure to stop in for a pastry & coffee or a whole meal!

This place is a perfect spot for breakfast or lunch in KW! My husband and I both had croissant sandwiches. I had the pesto chicken salad and my husband had an egg sandwich. Everything here is scratch made including all of the pastries and it was delicious! The staff is attentive and the food comes out fast and hot! Would definitely go back !

If you want a delicious breakfast in key west look no further. La Grignote is delicious, the service was wonderful with the couple that owns the restaurant being extremely nice and attentive; the prices were extremely reasonable for the quantity of food. I got the ratatouille and I was beyond stuffed for 13 dollars. I highly recommend coming here! And don't forget to give a belly rub to their cute french bulldog. read more

Definitely one of the best places to go for breakfast. A French bakery with so much more than pastries. The food and service were perfect combined with loads of smiles, politeness, and laughter. We had the eggs Benedict on artisan bread, quiche Loraine, and two iced coffees. Simply delicious to say the least - we will be back... Soon! Joel and Babeth's story is so beautiful- I fell in love with the place before eating a bite. They're out with the rest of their staff, super warm and friendly, taking orders and serving wonderful food. We had the eggs Benedict on a croissant (excellent), broccoli quiche (I do not normally like quiche but this was fantastic!) and the OMG waffles which were decadent and served with delicious whipped cream. (Probably homemade!) I wish them continued success and will stop by again the next time I find myself in Key West. read more

I'm so happy we found this amazing French bakery. Nestled at the end of Duval Street, it's really worth the walk from the busiest part of this iconic Key West street. Their butter plain croissant is so delicious warm, soft inside and crunchy on the outside. I could have eaten two;) They offer a great choice of viennoiseries, muffins, quiches and tartines. The bread looks really good too and I'll take back one or two home for sure! I'd love to have La Grignote in Miami!! This time, we took it to-go but we could have enjoyed our breakfast on-site. The owners are friendly French people. Their prices are fair for Key West. read more

This is best authentic french bakery I have tried in the US! every detail was perfect, fresh tasty fruits, raspberry danish crunchy, light and the cream brought all my childhood memories back! made me feel homesick for a bit... such a pleasure :) The black coffee was perfect, best coffee in a long time. All employees dedicated and very careful, real cuatomer focus and the baker (I'm guessing owner) present making sure everything was perfect. Absolutely recommended for breakfast! read more

The first time we came here the new owners had recently acquired it. The service was exceptional as they were hands on, very engaging with the customers and we felt super welcomed. It's been 2 years and the food is still very good. The croque sandwiches are not served on baguette. My husband loved his croque madam and I ordered eggs Benedict. A choice of bread was verbally offered including croissant. I surprisedly asked if the croissant was a choice and the waitress said yes. a $3 upcharge for it was on the bill. The rude waitress informed me it was all over the menu. If I asked if it was a choice, she should've told me at that particular moment that it would be an additional charge. I don't care about the $3, it's just a matter of principle. There are no air conditioned areas. They have several fans, but it is uncomfortably hot. The service was extremely slow and non attentive. Not sure we will come back in the future. read more

Absolutely wonderful in every way! Whole resturant is open to Duval street; everything is made to order. Both mine and my girlfriend's dishes were delicious -hers being a croissant sandwich, mine a breakfast ratatouille! Coffee was perfect and plentiful. Prices were on the low side for Duval street. This is a very great place for breakfast and brunch. Food quality is out of this world and the people are very pleasant. Quantity of food is also out of this world. This was hands down the best breakfast food I had in key west. Inside the cafe was absolutely adorable, and it really felt like it could have been on the coast of France! Found this place the day before and knew we had to come back for breakfast the next morning. Breakfast was delicious!! We enjoyed the vegetarian quiche, breakfast special, and a blueberry danish. The danish was superb!! Next time, we know not to share! For drinks, we had coffee and juice. Orange juice is freshly squeezed and refreshing. I would avoid this restaurant at all costs. The owner is unpleasant and doesn't seem to care about customer service. We tried to place a large order just after the pandemic lockdown ended. All the owner did was whine and moan about what she couldn't do. We are on vacation. Evenly she snobbishly said "you don't sound like someone who we would like to serve". I have been a loyal customer of this establishment for years. The food is mediocre but they are normally available early for brunch. We only want to support restaurants who appreciate us aa customers. This is not one of them. It turns out that we are really not all in this together read more

I was in the area for a day and I appreciate the hours they open considering I had to leave early. I had the special breakfast (if i remember correctly) and it was delicious! Best patisserie ever! Just can't say enough about this place. The pastries are simply a work of art...we just left with a bagful of treats because we know they are closed on Mondays. The offerings range the gamut from superb French onion soup (recently won a prize) to simply the best eggs Benedict you will ever have. I am not a fan of quiche but the flaky crust and light but still flavorful fillings are awesome. You will hear laughter and see smiles here...from both the staff (wonderful) to the busy owners to the combination of loyal locals to 1st timers who happen to stumble on this gem. Decor is fun, always clean (a rarity in KW), yes, you pay a little bit more but it is so very,very worth it. There is a reason there are many repeat customers. read more

If there is a line this place is not worth the wait. We walked out the first day because of the wait and went back the second day to double down. After waiting forever just to place our order of two waffles and two coffees, we got two cold coffees and a half hour wait for our waffles. 40+ dollars in total, but hey, the food was decent. That's the only reason they got more than one star. Most of all, they are pretty rude. I watched them be much less than pleasant with multiple customers. And the store design is awful. They should wreck the entire inside and rebuild it for better flow. read more

This was a great place for breakfast or lunch on Duval Street. This appears to be a legitimate patisserie with really good quality French pastry, I was particularly impressed with the croissant and my girlfriend loved the quiche. They also had a great macchiato and fresh OJ that hit the spot. Highly recommended! read more

Nice cozy cafe. Had the breakfast special which consisted of scrambled eggs, avocado, and a bacon ham onion mix, great. My girl had the quiche Lorraine, was really special and light tasting. I normally don't order iced coffee due to it being watered down at most places but the iced coffee here was good. Will be back. read more

Amazing! Key West is full of incredible dining options, that there is really no need to eat at the same place twice---except La Grignote. We happened upon this cute place a couple days ago. Best breakfast/brunch spot in all of Key West! The coffee was bold and fresh, the croissant was flaky perfection, the vinaigrette is to die for and the service was next level. This is the perfect spot for a light lunch before exploring the island. The restaurant is more spacious than one would think and the outdoor desk is super charming and stays cool even on a hot day. Can't recommend enough. read more

This was our favorite place to eat during our brief stay in Key West, and I'm only sorry we didn't find it sooner. All of the pastries we tried were amazing...my favorite was the custard-filled one with raspberries...and my wife's grilled cheese sandwich was phenomenal, no doubt largely due to the fresh-baked bread it was made with. A pleasant surprise was the basil lemonade...not a combination I'd ever heard of, but it was very tasty and refreshing. read more

Specialties

We are an artisan French Bakery and Cafe with everything made from scratch in house. We offer a full breakfast and lunch menu including Benedict, Quiches, French Toast, Croque Madames etc...and lunch with fresh salads, soups and sandwiches. The full menu is available all day to order! We also have our bakery offering home made pastries from croissants to muffins, Honey cake, bread pudding, key lime pie and much more. Coffees, fresh squeezed orange juice, lemonades, Mimosas and other drinks are also available!

History

Established in 2016.

It all began… with a serendipitous Easter Sunday encounter. Fast forward a month later after having French baking lessons passed down mixed with European family traditions incorporated, La Grignote is owned by Katie, who derives from Midwest roots and Southern Hospitality and Denis, a freshwater conch hailing all the way from Siberia!

Our dream together was manifesting a space to showcase our passion for community, cuisine, travel and unique influences. We were able to mold these dreams into action and bring them to life at La Grignote! Our mantra is making everyone feel welcome, spreading the love of food and culture and ensuring each dish and pastry is made from scratch with high quality ingredients while waking up to the roosters in the morning as our alarm clock!

Love the mural on the side and there are lots of roosters hanging around begging for some of your leftovers.

La Grignote is an absolute gem in Key West. I had breakfast here, brought my family back for lunch, and even returned for post-meal coffee and an almond croissant--all within a day and a half. It's that good! The desserts here are phenomenal. The almond croissant is perfectly flaky, buttery, and filled with just the right amount of almond goodness (or should I say gooeyness). Their Key Lime Pie? Hands down the best we've had in Key West. The crust is the thickest and most delicious out of the 10 places we tried, making it a true standout. And don't miss the pistachio cake--it's gluten-free, incredibly rich, and bursting with flavor. The savory dishes are just as impressive. Their Caesar salad, with its incredible dressing and perfectly cooked chicken breast, is a must-try. My daughter loved the tomato soup in a bread bowl, and the yogurt granola with homemade granola, fresh berries, and pineapple was breakfast perfection. What really sets La Grignote apart, though, is the service. It's warm, attentive, and so rare to find in Key West. They genuinely care about making your experience unforgettable. I had the French breakfast at La Grignote, and it was absolutely delightful. It came with fresh-squeezed orange juice and a perfectly brewed espresso, both vibrant and refreshing. The yogurt bowl was a standout: fat-free, yet creamy and satisfying, topped with blueberries, granola, pineapple, and strawberries. The flavors were bright and balanced. The French bread with house-made jam was warm and rustic--simple perfection that tied the whole meal together. I also picked up two macarons to go for my kid, and they were a hit--light, sweet, and beautifully made. The service was excellent. The owner herself served me, friendly and attentive, even though the restaurant was quite busy. You can tell it's a popular spot, and for good reason. I recently dined at La Gringnote and had the pleasure of trying both their Salmon Benedict and Lobster Benedict. While both dishes were beautifully presented, the Salmon Benedict was head and shoulders above the Lobster Benedict in terms of flavor. The salmon was perfectly cooked, flaky, and infused with a delightful seasoning that complemented the poached egg and creamy hollandaise sauce beautifully. The ABSOLUTE BEST bakery I've been to. First time traveling to the keys this year, and this was definitely one of the highlights of my whole trip. The woman at the front was very sweet and told us all about the passion behind the outstanding items they have for sale. The almond croissant is perfection, and the chocolate chip cookie is a must. Not a practical locals place. 4 bucks for their smallest black coffee and the coffee was not that good. Never in my wildest dreams would I say Starbucks is better value with better tasting coffee! :) Am sure the food is fine (3.50 for plain croissant) but will stick to the Cuban coffee joints. This is another high rent mismatch strictly for tourists and they successfully fill that void. read more
