First morning after arriving in Key West. I went to watch the sunrise, then stopped here on the way back to the apartment. Food: They have an amazing assortment of pastries and desserts. I ordered a hot chai latte and an almond croissant. Both were good. The chai had nice froth and a decent amount of concentrate, giving it good flavor. It was warm, though it would have been better if it had been hotter. The croissant was good, but there may have been too much filling, which made it soggy in the middle. It was a bit messy to eat. Service: I received a friendly greeting when I arrived. They let me pick a spot out front at a counter overlooking Duval Street. The server came over promptly and took my order. There were plenty of friendly smiles and helpful assistance. Atmosphere: The place is cute, with seating both inside and outside. The outdoor seating is especially nice if you're by yourself and want either some quiet time or the opportunity to strike up a conversation with others. I'd stop again, and likely try something different next time.

Omg such a cute spot to sit outside. Definitely order yourself a lavender mimosa it's very refreshing and delicious. I got the chicken panini and it was amazing with pesto and a good cheese pull. Amazing food and excellent service.

Randomly stopped in here while exploring Key West. It was the large menu posted on the front door that caught my eye. So many enticing items! I was confident everyone in my party of 8 could find something right for them. No problem being seated right away. It was a Tuesday around 2:30 PM. I struggled to decide what to get. It was very helpful to have the picture menu, available upon scanning the QR code. I delayed ordering due to indecision, but most of our party moved forward. Therefore their food arrived in a more timely manner. Once I finally did order, it took awhile to receive my food. Our server kept us updated, though. He checked in often to make sure we had all we needed. The food is very tasty. I enjoyed my quiche, which had layers of creamy goodness. Also a nice crispness to the crust. There's a bright, airy feel to the place. Indoor & outdoor seating available. It's a charming spot to savor some delicious bites.

Everything was excellent! So many things that I wanted to try on their extensive and delicious menu. Cute spot, and the service was quick and friendly. I had a yummy open faced smoked salmon on sourdough and my partner has a belt on a croissant. Be careful of upcharge on the potatoes, avocado, and some bread choices( including croissant) $3.50 extra each. Was it worth it? The little dish of potatoes probably not! Also side note soup was okay; the broth was not as dark and rich as we were expecting, but also not as salty at it sometimes is.

First time exploring Key West, and with an early start, we decided on a lighter fare because we knew we would be experiencing a bunch of the local flavors. But!!!!! First... we needed coffee. This bakery, slightly off the beaten path, but offered seating facing the street, where my wife and I enjoyed people watching while sipping on our coffee and pastry. We are out here celebrating our 30th Anniversary, and what better way to start the day with a small bite to get us going. I had an Americano, where the wife had the Lavender Mimosa. Both were perfect compliments to the incredible pastry (I forgot what it was exactly but perhaps the picture will tell you) we split. It was not sweet, but had a delicious tartness to it. It was fantastic! Thank you for the quick bite and the laughs my wife and I enjoyed while sitting street side people watching. I'll be looking for this place next time we come with friends! We dropped into this place for some quick cold brews, and came back every day for the rest of our trip. Why go anywhere else when they literally have SOME OF THE BEST COLD BREW I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I'm also a harsh critic when it comes to cold brew specifically. They are very quick especially if you're just getting something to go, and also we are once for done in, and it was great service and a charming vibe. Pastries (croissants and pan au chocolate) were also amazing, so of course the croissant breakfast was bomb. Highly recommend.

Come early because there is a line. Although you can go and order your coffee and get a pastry to tie you over until you get a table. It's a busy place, what I can I say. Very casual atmosphere. Hubby got the American plate and they gave plenty of crispy bacon. He ate everything. I got the ratatouille since that is not something you normally see. I make my own but theirs was pretty good with the pastry although some of the pastry gets a little soggy. Didn't care too much for the egg. The latte was delicious. Light in coffee flavor and didn't make me jittery. Also had to try their honey cake which is like several layer of very thin cake with cream in between. It was good but definitely sweet so have some tea with it or black coffee. Overall a good meal.

Quaint bakery and cafe in Upper Duval, a great little place away from the large crowds. Fast service, and the food was absolutely amazing. The Eggs Benedict with bacon was piled with 12 slices of crispy bacon and the egg was perfectly poached. The prices were also much better than your other breakfast/brunch places 2 blocks up Duval at the typical touristy hotspots. Do yourself a favor and grab breakfast/brunch here, and get a piece of lemon pistachio cake on the way out for a snack!

We stumbled on La Grignote & we are so glad we did! We had a cold brew with sugar free vanilla & almond milk - delish & great strong coffee! My salad - Katie's Salad - was so good - healthy & a great portion! We also had the pesto chicken panini - also excellent! The highlight though - was meeting the owner Denis! He has worked so hard to make La Grignote a place you want to come back to over & over! Plus he gave us great tips about Key West. Be sure to stop in for a pastry & coffee or a whole meal!

This place is a perfect spot for breakfast or lunch in KW! My husband and I both had croissant sandwiches. I had the pesto chicken salad and my husband had an egg sandwich. Everything here is scratch made including all of the pastries and it was delicious! The staff is attentive and the food comes out fast and hot! Would definitely go back !

French Onion Soup! ...Wow, delicious, Served with a side of egg yolk and red wine. Wonderful! Breakfast lunch and brunch spot. The Capresse salad was wonderful and we saw waffles pass us by served to other tables and they looked wonderful, filled with fresh fruit and cream. read more

Me and my new wife were in our honeymoon and this was the best brunch we had. So much so that we decided to go the last three days, they were busy every time but we didnt wait long. Food is amazing, pastries are delicious. The french toast was incredible, i havent had a lot of french toast in my life but its definitely the best I have had. Highly recommend. read more

So so so good. A little piece of France in paradise! Loved the benedicts--all of them. Salmon... lobster... traditional.... so good. Loved the kouign amann; maybe the best I've had anywhere. We were in Key West for a month and came here multiple times each week, sometimes to dine in, and some sometimes to go. Did I mention the egg cup? Maybe my favorite thing here. And the key lime pie! And the pecan tart! And the chocolate hazelnut cake! Now I'm hungry all over again. read more

In a city where food is plentiful but very mediocre, La Grignote is a breath of fresh air. A small, seemingly family-run French bakery. The menu is daily and focused (you will not find multi-page menus here). The croissants are delightful and the key lime pie was the best we had in the entire Keys (light, but not too light). read more

By far THE BEST eats we had in KW during our Christmas week visit, including the best key lime pie of all the ones we tried. La Grignote was not one of the many recommendations we were given to visit - we walked by it and super glad we stopped in. My bro-in-law and I both had the lobster eggs benedict and our plates were clean! Not taking away from the food at all, but one the highlights was the resident dog Leah. She went from table to table checking on the dinners (covert for begging). The owners and service were amazing and friendly. Wish we could have visited more than once. Will definitely be one of our first stops on our next KW adventure. read more

May have just ordered wrong items, but only enjoyed the ham and cheese croissant. My family did not enjoy the pig in blanket, the broccoli quiche (not completely set up/too loose ), the grilled cheese (no taste) or veggie sandwich (good bread but not very tasty). Specialty lemonade was very good and servicer(s) were very attentive. That said, with better options on the same street, we will likely not be back. read more

We stopped by here on a Saturday around 11am. We were lucky and walked right in! The restaurant is charming and is in an old Key West house like most Key West establishments. We sat outside on the porch and the service was excellent! You can tell the owners and staff love their customers and the restaurant is truly a labor of love. My favorite thing about the restaurant was that every table had a bottle of hand sanitizer on it LOL! What a genius idea! The food was soooo good!! We started with coffees and the Almond Croissant which was divine. Then we shared the Ham and Cheese Croissant and the Breakfast Sampler. Everything was delicious. Busy, busy, busy. The owner greets you and acknowledges you immediately, which is nice. Pleasant surroundings, great staff, good food. A bit pricey, $30+ for two. 2 coffees, 2 quiches w sides. What an unexpected, and delicious, find! Stopped by here twice on our visit to Key West - once for a mid-morning snack, and once for car pastries for our drive back to Miami (I pretty much eat like a hobbit). Located on the main Duval St. strip, this is an ultra-cute French bakery with a bistro attached. The first time we stopped by randomly, I ordered a slice of key lime pie which serendipitously turned out to be the best we'd had in our short time in the Keys. The curd perfectly straddled that line between sweet and tart, the crust was on point, and the whipped cream was home made. The second time, I ordered the largest Portuguese egg tart I'd ever seen, a raspberry danish, and an almond croissant. All were amazing, though I would have to say the croissant was my least favorite of them due to a lack of marzipan. Wish I came here for an actual meal! The bistro was packed the second time I came, and everyone's food looked delicious. read more

This was our first breakfast in Key West and the most memorable. I had the pesto chicken salad panini and my boyfriend had the croque monsieur. Both were delicious. They just brought out fresh hot croissants from the oven as we were leaving and the smell took over the place. We were too full to try them and I regretted it since. I went back on Monday to get one but they were closed. I'll never know how good they were. Next time.... read more

The most amazing breakfast spot in Key west. The staff there was amazing and they were so kind and personable. The food and atmosphere was a 10/10 and they had the cutest dog who sat next to us the whole meal ( which gives this place an overall score of 12/10). By far my favorite place we went to during our trip. Next time we visit I'll be eating here everyday! Also, I highly recommend the ratatouille. And my boyfriend said his waffle was the best he's ever had. read more

Absolutely loved this place. I had the best Quiche Lorraine that I'm sure has forever ruined quiche for me, as no other one will ever compare. Also enjoyed a fresh-baked croissant and a mimosa. The staff is friendly and attentive. The owner was making the rounds to make sure customers were happy. His "heart bled" when he saw I was not taking my half-eaten croissant to go. I love to see people so invested in their business and their product. Will definitely return next time I am in Key West. read more

We stopped by for breakfast and we're plesently surprised. Every dish served around us was just awesome and I'm sure tasted good. Service was excellent and the wait time for food was within the norm. The owner stopped by to say hi and we chatted a little. My friends from KW rarely go for breakfast.. more like late brunch. Parking was typical for KW so we rode our bikes. I would highly recommend this spot and go with an appetite! read more

Very nice French restaurant. Wonderful display of their fare as you walk in. We do breakfast mostly which is always freshly prepared and good. They're located in upper Duval next to the Banana Cafe which has disappointed on too many occasions so this is an excellent choice. I would have given them 5 stars but service has always been slow. read more

We are an artisan French Bakery and Cafe with everything made from scratch in house. We offer a full breakfast and lunch menu including Benedict, Quiches, French Toast, Croque Madames etc...and lunch with fresh salads, soups and sandwiches. The full menu is available all day to order! We also have our bakery offering home made pastries from croissants to muffins, Honey cake, bread pudding, key lime pie and much more. Coffees, fresh squeezed orange juice, lemonades, Mimosas and other drinks are also available!

History

Established in 2016.

It all began… with a serendipitous Easter Sunday encounter. Fast forward a month later after having French baking lessons passed down mixed with European family traditions incorporated, La Grignote is owned by Katie, who derives from Midwest roots and Southern Hospitality and Denis, a freshwater conch hailing all the way from Siberia!

Meet the Business Owner: Katie and Denis H.

Our dream together was manifesting a space to showcase our passion for community, cuisine, travel and unique influences. We were able to mold these dreams into action and bring them to life at La Grignote! Our mantra is making everyone feel welcome, spreading the love of food and culture and ensuring each dish and pastry is made from scratch with high quality ingredients while waking up to the roosters in the morning as our alarm clock!

The cashier answered all of my questions about the wrap, which made me feel confident in my choice. The wait wasn't long, especially since everything is made fresh. The fries came out hot and definitely needed a minute to cool down, and the wrap was warm on the outside while the inside stayed cool and fresh. Everything was tasty, and the pickle was a nice touch to round out the meal. Fisherman's is a small restaurant with limited seating, but there are several benches across the walkway where you can sit and enjoy your food while watching the boats and people nearby. I don't think it was as strong as some other Cuban coffee I've had but I appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet, so you still got a nice coffee flavor without being overpowered by sugar. Love the mural on the side and there are lots of roosters hanging around begging for some of your leftovers.

La Grignote is an absolute gem in Key West. I had breakfast here, brought my family back for lunch, and even returned for post-meal coffee and an almond croissant--all within a day and a half. It's that good! The desserts here are phenomenal. The almond croissant is perfectly flaky, buttery, and filled with just the right amount of almond goodness (or should I say gooeyness). Their Key Lime Pie? Hands down the best we've had in Key West. The crust is the thickest and most delicious out of the 10 places we tried, making it a true standout. And don't miss the pistachio cake--it's gluten-free, incredibly rich, and bursting with flavor. The savory dishes are just as impressive. Their Caesar salad, with its incredible dressing and perfectly cooked chicken breast, is a must-try. My daughter loved the tomato soup in a bread bowl, and the yogurt granola with homemade granola, fresh berries, and pineapple was breakfast perfection. What really sets La Grignote apart, though, is the service. It's warm, attentive, and so rare to find in Key West. They genuinely care about making your experience unforgettable. If only they stayed open past 3 PM! La Grignote, please consider opening a location in California--you're exactly the authentic French bakery we need! read more

I had the French breakfast at La Grignote, and it was absolutely delightful. It came with fresh-squeezed orange juice and a perfectly brewed espresso, both vibrant and refreshing. The yogurt bowl was a standout: fat-free, yet creamy and satisfying, topped with blueberries, granola, pineapple, and strawberries. The flavors were bright and balanced. The French bread with house-made jam was warm and rustic--simple perfection that tied the whole meal together. I also picked up two macarons to go for my kid, and they were a hit--light, sweet, and beautifully made. The service was excellent. The owner herself served me, friendly and attentive, even though the restaurant was quite busy. You can tell it's a popular spot, and for good reason. The ambience was charming and cozy, with a relaxed, welcoming feel that made it easy to enjoy the experience. I recently dined at La Gringnote and had the pleasure of trying both their Salmon Benedict and Lobster Benedict. While both dishes were beautifully presented, the Salmon Benedict was head and shoulders above the Lobster Benedict in terms of flavor. The salmon was perfectly cooked, flaky, and infused with a delightful seasoning that complemented the poached egg and creamy hollandaise sauce beautifully. The ABSOLUTE BEST bakery I've been to. First time traveling to the keys this year, and this was definitely one of the highlights of my whole trip. The woman at the front was very sweet and told us all about the passion behind the outstanding items they have for sale. The almond croissant is perfection, and the chocolate chip cookie is a must. Not a practical locals place. 4 bucks for their smallest black coffee and the coffee was not that good. Never in my wildest dreams would I say Starbucks is better value with better tasting coffee! :) Am sure the food is fine (3.50 for plain croissant) but will stick to the Cuban coffee joints. This is another high rent mismatch strictly for tourists and they successfully fill that void. read more
