I let them know that I had seen a video on TikTok about their Birria burrito, but that I hadn't seen it on their menu and that was what I wanted to order. They said it was the Birria Cali and that it was very popular lately. I mean, yeah- the video made it look phenomenal and the audio with it was funny. I had also, previously, seen a video about their Machete and wanted to order that because it looked awesome as well. They had 2! One Birria (beef) and the other was Governado (shrimp). We went for the Birria- of course. Honestly, the Birria Burrito had plenty of flavor and more variety in flavor due to the various fillings- Mexican crema, lettuce, guacamole, potatoes (surprising, but honestly VERY good), plenty of cheese, and the Birria (and the sauce is poured right in- which I think could be avoided). It was delicious, but it shouldn't have been served on the paper as the paper began to rip when I started cutting up the burrito. I had wanted to eat the burrito like a burrito, but the moment that I picked it up, it became nearly impossible. The burrito completely opened up and all the fillings started pouring out onto the paper. I was able to wrap it up again with about half the fillings, but the burrito tortilla was so wet that it was just a huge mess. I ended up eating half of the burrito with a fork. I don't know why they didn't serve it on a plate. The Birria Machete was super flavorful and simple, just Beria meat and cheese with a cup of their dipping Birria soup. It was also nearly 2 feet long! Very cool. I began to wonder if the corn tortillas for the Birria Machete were made in store. I asked- and they said they do make it themselves! The corn tortillas were the most flavorful corn tortillas I've ever had! They had texture and they were clearly NOT the type of corn tortillas that I get at most places, those premade floppy unflavorful corn tortillas like the ones you get in the pack of 150 at the grocery store. When I find out, I will let you know because the texture and flavor of the corn tortilla on the Machete was phenomenal. The place was packed when we got there. It was packed when we left. Clearly, they get plenty of business. Everyone around us seemed happy and content with their food and so were we. I will definitely be back for another Machete to try some other things as well. The beef was slightly more tasty compared to the chicken but both was just soaked with their variety of flavors. The birria quesadillas were $17.40. Even with the extra $2.45 with the consome, their math is not equaling $15.95 -- whacky! As for the taste profile, deliciousness. These three quesadillas were pretty massive. And like my sliders, they were equally oily and messy to consume. The horchata was really tasty. For a large, it was $6.75. It tasted different from other places. There was a nice rice flavor to it and less of the cinnamon flavor. Would I visit again? I think not. Good food. Prices were bleh, especially how it seems like we were charged more than their menu prices.

The inside was clean and comfortable and they also had a nice patio area outside as well. The ice cream was a couple steps over so naturally we had to get dessert. The ice cream was also fantastic and I hear it's homemade - I think the cheese is my favorite. After experiencing the very mediocre El Matador that previously inhabited this end of the shopping center, we were pleasantly surprised at the good reviews left by some of our local friends. We live in the Northcrest neighborhood basically right behind this place so it's nice to know that a decent restaurant has opened nearby - as much as we love Mediterranean Bakery it's hard to eat there more than once a week. This place offers up a welcome change. From what I can tell the interior has been completely revamped - new everything in a clean, modernist vibe. To the left if the creamery, offering up a fairly large selection of ice cream. I didn't personally try any of it but my wife did and reported that the treats were very creamy and good flavored. I focused on the larger-than-expected Mexican food menu to the right (the rooms are separated a bit but you can easily see each side from the other. This is fast-casual so you order at the counter and they delivery it to your table. The tacos were all served in flour tortillas - I don't remember if I was given an option for corn but assume it could be had. These aren't the micro-street tacos, rather the full size and they were well packed. I thought everything good but next time I'd just get all shrimp, as it was outstanding. Both the scallop and lobster were a little weak in flavor. It also came with a shrimp-based soup that I liked but my wife thought a bit fishy. There's a salsa bar much like you would see at more traditional taquerias on Buford Highway - I tried most of the sauces and liked them all - maybe it's just me but I think they were slightly toned down. If I'm paying $19, I expect a flawless burrito. I was also confused as to why the menu labeled the item as langostino. It was a normal shrimp and quite deceptive to call it langostino (which translates to langoustine from Spanish).
