La Huerta Candy is a great place to bring kids or even a really big kid like myself. There's so many different kind of options. If you are looking for some classic Mexican candy. They've got you covered. they have all different flavor profiles from salty, sweet, sour and spicy. The gentleman working the counter was very friendly and helpful. He was also very patient with us trying to decide what we wanted. I literally felt like a "fat kid in a candy shop" The options were limitless. I tried some of the dried mangos, other fruit and gummies covered in the Mexican chili flavor. I enjoyed some and others not so much. They had some really cool gummies with cool subject matter like gummy dinosaurs. I really wanted to get my son the gummy green army men

Delicious candy!! I tried their dehydrated pineapple rings cover in chili powder, watermelon gummies in chili powder and gummy worms. They sell candy by the pound. You can mix and match and pick from a wide variety. The also sell mixed nuts and dehydrated fruit. Service was prompt and the staff takes care of you quickly. They accept cards payment and cash.

Snapped this while waiting for my order.

Best selection of various nuts and candies ever. The cashews are next level, and the candy is awesome. The customer service is also a breath of fresh air in a big city and a crowded Grand Central Market. I highly recommend stopping by here for candies and nuts if you're strolling through Grand Central Market.

Me and my boyfriend love coming here so much! Ana is the best and always welcomes us in the best ways!! The candy is so good and worth the money!! And they have a version of the sour gushers that are so good!! Definitely worth stopping by and trying out if you're in the area

I will always return for the chili gushers!!! They are literally the most perfectly tasting balanced chili mix I've ever tried. Customer service is top notch, he allows you to sample whatever you'd like, even the fresh mango pickled in chamoy which was BOMB!! They also sell chamoy pickle kits, I had NO IDEA. Get them before they're gone!! The place itself is a very cool booth it has all the candies displayed it's very colorful and eye-catching. I love love love all their candies there's a HUGE variety. Definitely coming back for more, as always!

I felt like a kid in a candy store. Located in Grand Central Market, La Huerta has reasonably priced candies. For a small store, they have a large selection from gummies to sour candies and nuts. However, I did not see any chocolate. I got a quarter pound of chamoy candy (watermelon, mango, and sour belts) which came out to less than $5. What a treat!

I love this place! So many sweet treats to choose from, and I love that they have so many spicy options, all very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend this place as a stop at grand central!

    Blueberry sour belt with Chile

Went to Grand Central Market to get out the house and came across La Huerta Candy. I'm going to be honest I'm not really a sweets type of person but when I tasted these blueberry sour belts in Chile it brought back childhood memories of eating the sour belts in school and going to my grandmas for Chile candy. For them to mix the sweet and sour with Chile is a out of this world experience and not one over powers the other. It's a perfect balance of both to the point I had to stop myself from eating the whole half a pound haha I would highly recommend checking this place out if you live sweet and spicy.

The historic shop has a charming old-fashioned feel, and the service was friendly, welcoming, and efficient. Every mochi tasted incredibly fresh, with a soft, pillowy texture that showcased the craftsmanship behind each handmade piece. **Sho-Mochi: 5/5** One of Fugetsu-Do's signature creations, the Sho-Mochi was a true standout. The vibrant blue mochi was incredibly soft and chewy, while the silky white chocolate ganache filling delivered a rich, creamy sweetness that melted effortlessly on the palate. **Strawberry Anko Mochi: 4/5** The strawberry anko mochi featured a soft, pillowy wrapper filled with a blend of strawberry and smooth white bean paste, then topped with a hazelnut chocolate ganache that added a rich, nutty sweetness. Unfortunately, the strawberry filling tasted somewhat artificial, lacking the fresh, vibrant fruit flavor I was hoping for. **Green Tea Mochi: 5/5** My love for matcha made this an easy standout. Filled with smooth white bean paste infused with matcha, it offered a pleasant balance of earthy, slightly bittersweet notes and subtle sweetness. **Mango Mochi: 5/5** Bursting with natural mango flavor, this mochi was wonderfully refreshing from the very first taste. Its springy chew created a pleasantly airy, satisfying texture, while the gentle sweetness rounded out the bright, fruity notes. Fugetsu-Do has earned its legendary reputation through generations of exceptional craftsmanship. From the incredibly fresh mochi to the diverse selection of handcrafted flavors, every piece reflects the care and tradition that have made this shop a beloved destination for decades. I believe their outstanding mochi shop is the keystone to all of little tokyo and it's a must visit when you are in the area. They have fruity mochi and you can sometimes get it filled with red bean. Recently, they've had a Shohei Ohtani special, where it's a blue mochi filled with white chocolate ganache. My favorite is their chocolate mochi as it's simple, chewy, sweet, and delicious. In my visit this weekend, we got this blueberry mochi that was filled with the same white chocolate ganache that was in the shohei special. If you look around their storefront, you might find some hidden gems on the shelves. I got a salted caramel kit kat bag that was not cheap; however, it's also pretty hard to find. Overall, this is a gem and a pillar in the community!

When they had penny candy machines, a big taxidermy deer head and the kindest owner. He once gave me and my sibling a big paper lunch bag full of candies! I love seeing the original check out stand, the little upper office where the owner would stand and the old fridge area where it once held fruits and veggies now old school candy bars. If you grew up in highland park in the 80s, this was the local market. How I miss those days! Highland Park is so different now! Btw Galco's makes some of the best sandwiches! It has such a selection of candy from your childhood, and for kids, random unique gifts to keep them busy. but yesterday...all that flew out the window. I approached the sandwich counter and asked the person working (an angry woman apparently) what her favorite sandwiches are. After she took a minute to complain about how she had been making sandwiches all day and her brain is fried and she didn't really have any recommendations for me (and was seemingly annoyed at me even asking) she looked at the clock and advised that I was 2 minutes too late to order a hot sandwich. literally the 2 minutes she took to complain about her job cost me the sandwich. now, if it was my shop and a nice family came in and asked me my opinion on something and I took a minute or two to say the things that she said I would give them a sandwich and make that sandwich be the last sandwich of the day, but instead apparently my money wasn't green enough for her. She shut it down and two minutes later was out the door. she was rude, and honestly it just seemed that she didn't give an F. Today I called the store to speak with the owner and the person who answered the phone gave me the runaround. it was clear that either the workers didn't want to connect me with the owner or the owner doesn't want to hear the complaint. this place has gone downhill.
