So cute and tiny in here. Straight to the point. And there's parking :) The fruit is delicious, juicy and sweet with that crunchy coat. Thanks!

Ordered a variety of fruits to try; strawberry, green grape, purple grape, and orange. These are a very great novelty snack worth a try and to share with friends. The candy hard shell is tough to tap but fun to crack down on with each bite. The fruit that have been candied are very beautiful, bright, and juicy, extra sweetened by the syrupy exterior. The owner at the counter is very friendly to chat with and patient with ordering; all of the tanghulu are carefully wrapped by him and packaged in very neat packaging. The location is in a street corner and the little store is in a small center of this corner, very simple with obvious and clear signage. The display case shows the tanghulu to choose from. I went later in the evening and there seemed to be just a few left so best to get there sooner, many other fruits had sold out!

Note: This is based on a Too Good to Go order :) Date of visit: July 15, 2024 Experience: I have been wanting to try this place after seeing videos of this location opening in downtown LA and lately I have been craving this treat, so I was super excited that Too Good to Go had an option to buy items from them before the day ended. It was hard for me and my husband to find the location the first time around, but was able to find the place after a quick search on Google for how the store front looked like. The shop is in the corner of a plaza near Thai BBQ and there is a parking lot outside of it that had a security guard out, so not sure if people have to pay for parking or something since we said that we were just here to pick up something from the shop. When I went in, there was one worker and a small glass display case of the fruit skewers. They had stawberries, cotton candy green grapes, purple seedless grapes, whole mandarin oranges, and grape tomatoes left. The worker gave me one of each for my order, which surprised me since I was thinking I would only get one or two for the price I paid. So my favorites were the strawberries and cotton candy green grapes. The whole mandarin oranges were a bit sour and the purple seedless grapes were not that sweet. The grape tomatoes I was hesitant about since I'm not a fan of tomatoes, but weren't too bad. Would come back to see if I can try some of their other skewers I wasn't able to indulge in, but definitely a great treat to try out based on your fruit preferences :)

Got a too good to go bag and it was a great deal! Fruit was very sweet and pick up was easy. Staff were very friendly too. I've always managed to find parking in their lot or on the street. The shop is small and there are no seats. You just quickly grab, pay, and go. Will definitely come again!

Fresh fruit, sweet and candy - if you love these, then this is the location you must try. This place has seasonal fruits like kiwi berries that a lot of other tanghulu places don't. Also, the workers here are super friendly and service is excellent. I've never had any issues here. I've been to similar tanghulu places where the workers look like they don't wanna be there and aren't really helpful and the fruits aren't fresh (i.e., grapes usually have a crunch but was more mushy). I highly recommend this place! Try it for yourselves!

We got the strawberry and grape tanghulu on 8th st SUPER GOOD! They also have a one of a kind video game booth to check out! Recommend

Picked up some amazing Tanghulu!! I received 6 skewers all the flavors that were available. The service was superb the worker was friendly and welcoming. I tried the strawberry , mandarin, purple grape , green grape, white strawberry and the tomato. All were pleasantly sweet and the tomato one actually paired well with the sugar coating . It's a must try when I'm around Lafayette Park. Yes it's a small place just a lady and her Tanghulu in refrigerated glass case and it wasn't hard to find at all. I got lucky with parking right across the street for free. I will definitely be coming again. So glad it's close by as well. FYI came here May 31 2024 just didn't get around to review this place.

Really good and the fruit tasted very fresh. It is a bit pricey though, each one was about $5-$7.

Galco's will forever hold a special place in my heart…read more This is the OG grocery store we would walk to in the early 80"s. When they had penny candy machines, a big taxidermy deer head and the kindest owner. He once gave me and my sibling a big paper lunch bag full of candies! I love seeing the original check out stand, the little upper office where the owner would stand and the old fridge area where it once held fruits and veggies now old school candy bars. If you grew up in highland park in the 80s, this was the local market. How I miss those days! Highland Park is so different now! Btw Galco's makes some of the best sandwiches! Also if anyone knows where to get Stoney Tangawizi please let me know!

First: I used to love this place. As a fellow small biz…read moreowner nearby, I supported and promoted this place as one of the long standing coolest stores on the Eastside. It has such a selection of candy from your childhood, and for kids, random unique gifts to keep them busy. but yesterday...all that flew out the window. I approached the sandwich counter and asked the person working (an angry woman apparently) what her favorite sandwiches are. After she took a minute to complain about how she had been making sandwiches all day and her brain is fried and she didn't really have any recommendations for me (and was seemingly annoyed at me even asking) she looked at the clock and advised that I was 2 minutes too late to order a hot sandwich. literally the 2 minutes she took to complain about her job cost me the sandwich. now, if it was my shop and a nice family came in and asked me my opinion on something and I took a minute or two to say the things that she said I would give them a sandwich and make that sandwich be the last sandwich of the day, but instead apparently my money wasn't green enough for her. She shut it down and two minutes later was out the door. she was rude, and honestly it just seemed that she didn't give an F. Today I called the store to speak with the owner and the person who answered the phone gave me the runaround. it was clear that either the workers didn't want to connect me with the owner or the owner doesn't want to hear the complaint. this place has gone downhill.
