This place really surprised me. When we entered (group of 5) there was no one else here except the staff. Staff was so nice btw, they even stayed open a little later for us to finish. The food was delicious, everyone ordered tacos and it happened to be taco Tuesday so we got a little discount on them which made us happy haha. We also got guac & chips! Very nice ambiance inside. Overall a good and chill spot! I will definitely return back when I'm in the area again. Cheers!

Cute accents

Serviceable, but weird, with a few small things they could do to significantly improve the experience. The space is really strange. It's just a long tunnel with tables lining the sides. There are cute accent pieces here and there, but the ambiance would be much improved by putting something in the middle, whether adding more tables, staggering the tables on the wall, or even just putting decor like a fountain, anything to help break up the space and make it feel less like a retrofitted hallway. The first thing you see upon stepping in is the broken glass on the door, which was difficult to open and slammed shut behind us. There was no one at the host desk, so we watched the lone server slowly walk down the long restaurant to get us. It was quiet and awkward. The bar in the back is hardly a bar and more a quick service counter. The service was very slow, despite there only being 2 other guests in the restaurant. Our drinks - the sweet Isla Bonita and bitter Guava Margarita - were delicious, but the food took around 15-20min to arrive. When it did, the presentation was immaculate. My Hamburguesa Norteña was beautifully stacked and paired with absolutely massive potato wedges. But despite having the longest description on the menu, the hamburger was nothing special (what did I expect getting a hamburger at a Mexican restaurant?). My partner's tacos, on the other hand, were amazing. The steak was deceptively juicy, and she had a great time with them. A point also gets deducted for their Happy Hour. There's a sign out front, but nothing on the sign nor the menu indicates what this happy hour entails, and when asked, the server didn't offer any insight. Still, we were happy with the price, so we may have gotten a good deal. So, fixing the weirdness of the space, the speed of service, Happy Hour signage, and the taste of the burger would definitely elevate this experience.

Our group was going to a comedy show a few weekends ago and we wanted something uncomplicated to eat for dinner. We stumbled upon this place and luckily, they were not busy. I honestly don't remember anymore what we got. All I know is that the food was good. Some were a bit salty, but for the most part, the food was satisfactory! One feedback I have is I would love to have side dishes that can balance the saltiness and heaviness of their main dishes.

The delightful Enchiladas Pobres!

La Isabella is run by the same folks that have Indita Mia. I have been to Indita Mia once before and simply loved it so I was was excited to come here. And it didn't disappoint in the slightest. Excellent food all the way around! I had the Enchiladas Pobres which was a deep fried corn tortilla that was in a spicy salsa , stuffed with queso fresco, topped with onions, cilantro and sour cream. Ingredients were fresh and simply delicious. An amazing dish. For dessert we polished off by sharing both dessert options, the Tres Leches Cake and the flan. And both were fantastic. I am so glad I shared this with Steve because it was a tough choice to just pick one. Personally I don't think you can go wrong with any of the menu options here so you are bound to be in for a wonderful dining experience no matter what you choose off the menu.

ENCHILADAS A LA DIABLA

Wow!! Excellent and might I add truly authentic Mexican restaurant. If you're expecting "American Mexican"food, not the place for you. Had the ENCHILADAS A LA DIABLA!! Amazing. The place is an unassuming "hole in the wall" in downtown Tacoma. In fact, you might not think to go in. Think again! The service was a 10, so attentive and friendly. I forgot her name, but she was Venezuelan and understood the menu!! The smile I won't forget and the joy she made me feel great service. If you're ever in Tacoma!! This is the place! I'll be back.

Who's the menu?

I really like the restaurant. I had two kinds of tacos. 3 Tacos Was Way too much. I have a tremendous appetite and I must recommend that you never do more than two tacos. It's a fantastic restaurant. Carmen was my waitress. She had great advice and made the evening very memorable. I would totally go back there when I have more free time. There's a lot of things on the menu and pictures in the yelp pad that you should just pick it off the picture even though things weren't on the menu anymore from the pictures they made it for me anyway fantastic crew. I had not enough time to stay and had to put a rush on my order and they really did stop everything and the kitchen got to work for me so I could eat something before I had to go on my trip. I think it's a beautiful little restaurant. I know the owners put a lot of work into it. I think people take certain things for granted granted today, but when a business really tries their best and his customer service oriented or at least that's the way it sounds to me when I deal with someone like Carmen. It's a rare thing today.

The good: Stopped in here for my bday dinner. We ordered the tacos de asada and tacos al pastor. Both were very good! Service was great. Drinks are a little pricey but were also delicious. The bad: There is a dance studio next door that was hella loud, there were a few annoying fruit flies, and it was super warm inside.

Such a great place. We were in town for work and found this gem. Super friendly welcoming staff and amazing food. Drinks were great and the food was even better. Gov ethos place a visit when you are in town.

Me and my stopped there for quick dinner after a long day of hiking. The food was amazing and drinks were delicious. Service was quick and efficient. Ambience was great. Very clean and calm space. We'll definitely visit again when we're back in Seattle!!

Food was amazing. The service was great. Came here after visiting my dad in the hospital. It made me feel so much better. Very cute and clean inside.

I'm having deja vu since this is the same owner's second? Third? Restaurant opening in Tacoma. Same style, same food, different price points, but basically the same experience. It's in the old Indita Mia location, and the sign is still up. The inside is exactly the same as it was with Indita Mia. This location has less food items but at more affordable prices, that's the only difference.

Las Isabella is one of my favorite restaurants in Tacoma. This restaurant consistently serves quality Mexican food and cocktails. The service is also great. I would highly recommend anyone in the Tacoma area to at least try La Isabella

This place should be packed every night. Get there to enjoy it before that happens. Started off with the indita Mia cocktail. Perfectly balanced cocktail with mezcal and hibiscus with just a hint of heat. Ordered the burrito with asada, as I wanted to try both the guacamole and refried beans. I was so excited when it came in two parts on homemade tortilla! The jalapeño avocado salsa was a perfect complement. I'm here all week and will be back to try other dishes. This place is legit!

I see why this place has an average review of 5. Tasty tacos, burrito, and guac. Always good to know where the best spots are. This is one.

The atmosphere is warm and lively, the location is perfect, and the entire staff made the experience feel elevated without being pretentious. We had a 5:15 dinner reservation and the restaurant was already packed, which honestly says a lot. The staff was incredibly kind and knowledgeable about both the wine list and menu, and every recommendation felt thoughtfully curated. The food was phenomenal. We have the chef special which was a chicken skin dish and the short rib pasta with the added burrata; flavorful, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. You can tell a lot of care goes into every dish. Definitely one of those places that feels just as good for a casual night out as it does for celebrating something special. Happy hour menu now is pretty bleak. My negroni was excellent but the old-fashioned flavor was off and seemed watered down. The bacon wrapped dates had only two dates on a stick for $6! Wish they would at least write quantity (2) on the menu if not give 3-4 as a tapa. They were out of bread buns for the HH burger even though it was 4:30pm and so we got the regular menu potato croquettes instead. They were ok but essentially just 4 giant tater tots for $14. I miss the pickled veggies with pimiento cheese and bread! And their happy hour with pasta used to be the bomb.

If I hate to scan a QR code for a menu and there aren't even pictures, what's the point? I don't need a fancy menu, but a printed menu is nicer. We got the Skillet Smashed Fingerlings/potatoes appetizer to start, very delicious! My dinner companion got the Classic Smash Burger. She said the burger was great, and she knew there were going to be caramelized onions, but there was a lot packed in the middle of the patty. The novelty wore off quickly. She still said it was good overall. I ordered the Scarlet Rosemary (chicken and homemade pasta), and it was really good. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce was fantastic, but the only problem was; there wasn't enough of it (sauce) and when the dish cooled as we ate, you couldn't taste the sauce much. About 7-10 minutes after getting our food, my friend took a bite of my pasta and said "I don't taste any flavor at all" and I realized I was mostly tasting the chicken at this point and I was sliding the pasta in the very small bit of sauce on the plate. I would suggest don't be stingy with the sauce because it was great. Otherwise the food was wonderful and we'll plan on going back.

The only disappointment was we really did not like our tiramisu cake. It contained way too much alcohol for either of our liking and we both don't drink alcohol. To the layman it may seem like just a dark "pirate" or "tiki bar", but the focus is really more centered around Lovecraftian and cosmic horror - not something you see you often but very much appreciated among those who are familiar. The menu is accessed by QR codes on the table. They have an *extremely* long list of cocktails, all named appropriately with the theming, but somewhat lacking in variety. Most of the cocktails are some combination of rum, spices, lime/lemon, and maybe something else fruity or sweet. My wife had a Ships from Far Shores while I enjoyed an Astro Orbiter. Their menu has an indicator of how strong each drink is, and it doesn't lie. The Astro Orbiter tasted great but was indeed quite strong. The staff were extremely polite and a pleasure to talk to. Unfortunately their kitchen was closed the evening we went, so we weren't able to grab any food, but hopefully we'll to try some the next time we stop by.

The food itself was decent, but definitely overpriced for what you get. We ordered a cheese plate and a salad. It took well over 45 minutes just to receive the cheese plate, and then another 35+ minutes for the salad to come out. That felt excessive, especially considering the restaurant wasn't busy when we first arrived. There was a bridal shower happening, which is totally understandable and of course events can impact service. However, at the time we were seated, it wasn't crowded at all. The service was also disappointing. Our waitress rarely checked in, and we eventually had to go up to the bar ourselves to ask for napkins and water refill. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but for the prices and the wait times, I expected much better service and efficiency. I understand maybe we caught them on a off day, but for being my first experience I'd consider giving it another try, but improvements in attentiveness and timing would make a big difference.

I used to visit the Sacramento location, so it was a nice surprise seeing one nearby. My review is mainly for the desserts since I still haven't tried the coffee yet (though I'm sure it's probably great too since they're known for their Yemeni coffee). The menu seems very similar to the Sacramento location, but I'm giving 4 stars because they don't carry the one dessert I've been seriously craving: Turkish delight! The Sacramento location has it and I was definitely hoping to grab some here but I didn't see any on display or on the menu :( The milk cakes were thankfully just as good and super consistent between locations. We ordered the pistachio milk cake and the caramel milk cake (different pricing, depending on flavor probably). Both were incredibly moist, flavorful, and just really delicious. If you've never tried the milk cakes here, I definitely recommend them. They taste high quality, for sure, and a perfect treat for a sweet tooth. I had my husband try one for the first time since he likes caramel, and he immediately said it tasted so fancy he felt like he should be sticking his pinky out while eating it lol. I told him it *is* around $10 a slice, after all. We stopped by on a weekday afternoon and the parking lot was busy and the café itself was packed, so it definitely seems like a popular spot. They also have a points rewards program you can sign up for with just your phone number. I'll definitely be back for sweets again.
