So I ordered takeout yesterday to support local business in these tough times of COVID-19, but I don't think that calls for the type of stunt they wanted to pull with me. I ordered 3 arepas and they say they include sauce. No problem. I wait at the door for the order and they charge my card BEFORE they tell me the total price. He only tells me how much it was after he ran the card and gave me my meal and leave me on my way. I was confused because it was entirely too much. Turns out they had up sold me two bottles of sauces and not given us what was included as stated. Having approached them afterwards and they claim they took it off my check, I'm still wondering why my bank charged for the full amount. Tried this place once before. It was okay so I decided to try it again for a quick bite. Really wanted to have a good experience because the place is super cute and conveniently located. For starters the lady at the counter has NO customer service experience rude as can be. The arepas were a bit hard. My son ordered his with shredded cheese and it came out cold and in blocks. When I asked the lady that I wanted the shredded cheese she got upset at me! WTH! And for what you get it is pricey!!! read more

Went here around 3am on a Friday night. Order taker didn't speak enough English which made it difficult to order. Had a vegetarian arepa (Gouda arepa) I had to send it back since the cheese was barely melted the first time. There was too much butter, not enough crunch for the arepa. read more

I heard great things about this place and I really like arepas, so we stopped by while on vacation. Upon walking in, we should have known that they didn't have it together. Two tables were being taken up my management with computers and laptops open on them. Honestly, I thought one of the tables was a customer, as this person was on the phone and acting very frustrated about something. Anyway, my wife steps up to order and requests two arepas, and was told to slow down, and the cashier then for some reason had no idea how to ring up something that was on the menu, not modified at all. the person who was on the phone helped the cashier, and we were told they had a "new system". It's fine to have a new system, but you should train your cashiers how to use it before throwing them to the lions. I tried to order a chistorra arepa, only to be told they didn't have that (the first option under pork). Ok, I asked to order the "pabellon", the 4th thing on their menu. I was curtly asked "BEEF OR CHICKEN" as if I should have said it in the first place. How would I know there was a chicken option, if "pabellon" is under the beef section? then, I was asked curtly again, "A PLATTER? WHAT DO YOU WANT?" I was confused, as AREPAS are the first part of their menu. If you are known for arepas, and arepas are the first part of the menu, how is someone to know you have the same named dish elsewhere on the menu? Anyway, we got the food after waiting some time. I thought mine was pretty unseasoned, which was strange. Afterwards, I asked my wife how hers were before I even mentioned about mine. She said "i'm not sure about yours, but mine were totally unseasoned. who doesn't season black beans?" So, they have a seasoning problem. This was my first experience with the white garlic and cilantro garlic sauces though, and they were quite good. read more

This is my favorite Venezuelan arepa restaurant in all of Miami. The food is very tasty and small portions. I always get the reina pepiada arepa or the 3 plantain cups filled with very well seasoned pernil. The food is always made fresh and warm. They have some awesome sauces to choose from if you are into sauces like I am. They are very helpful in suggesting their most popular dishes which is great. We've been ordering from la latina for about 4 years at least once a week and sometimes twice a week. And I think of all those times that we ask them to include garlic sauce, they have sent it only around 5-6 times. They always refuse to send it and it has become really ridiculous. I would have liked to have reviewed his place when I believe it deserved 4 stars but the quality and especially the service had gone down hill. The food is overpriced and the management is clueless about the quality. Had to argue with the guy at the register that the rumbera (pork & cheese) was actually beef and they kept on insisting that it was. That's what led me to give them such a poor review. One night I ordered an arepa con pernil, the meat was so salty it was inedible. Low quality, bad service.

Stopped by for lunch with friends on a Saturday. Had a cachapa with pernil and boy was it delicious! Tried my friends arepa and it was equally yummy. Another friend ordered pernil with platanitos and avocado and it was good but the portion of pork we all agreed was a little small. Very cute little place. Service was good. I went to la Latina for lunch with my brother, we ordered two shredded beef arepas and two cokes. We waited for almost 30 minutes and still nothing, we saw them serve other people that came after us. And even worse was that after the long wait they brought us a completely wrong order and told us we'd have to wait another 15 mins for the food. We decided to get our refund and left hungry and very dissatisfied with their service. I don't recommend eating here. read more

This is a cute little place. It's a lot cheaper than most places in Midtown and the food is fresh. If you've never tried Venezuelan food, this is a good place to go for authentic dishes and it's not a hole in the wall. Next time I go I will try more of the empanadas instead of the arepas. This place.... they should change the time of closing, I came with 2 coworkers at 4:45 AM this morning after work, we are waiting in line, when finally is our turn, this guy so rudely tells us they are close. There is people inside, the light says OPEN, Yelp says closing at 5 AM, we are waiting in Line, and apparently is so obvious that is closed at 4:45 Am. This is the second time that happens. Just turn the open sign light off! And maybe ppl would not waist their time parking, going inside, making the line to get kick out. read more
