I used to frequent this place alot back in the late 90's. Was a pit stop right before heading over to Boca Chica next door. I'll never forget my first time making out in nyc either cuz it was right here at La Linea. Ive been to La Linea a couple of times with my guy friends. Its an ok bar if you are looking for cheap drinks. Their happy hr is good but if you are trying to go here on a Friday night would not recommend because it gets extremely crowded. They do have comfortable coaches on the bright side. read more

A friend recommended this place for Hip Hop, and being the Hip Hop dance queen I believe I am I wanted to check it out. When we arrived, the music was popping in the first thirty minutes. There were multiple going in on the narrow dance floor. I definitely yearned for my most beloved dancer friends to join me that night. However there were two problems. First and foremost, the bar is really narrow, being New York it almost comes as no surprise that walking from one end of the bar to the other took time and flexibility. Secondly, the DJ decided to spin music every 10 seconds so that by the time you were ready to sing along to the music, you had to figure out what song he had just changed it to. Extremely aggravating, but glad I came. There was no cover. I just hope that the DJ does not change the song that rapidly on a regular basis. read more

My friends and I stumbled into this place after we left Lucky Cheng's. (Right across the street) It's a decent place, they play a variety, mostly 90's hip hop. Has a few seats in the back and small dance floor. Drinks are pretty affordable except for the shots. Patron shots are $11- for that you might as well get a drink. read more

This place gets 3 stars max: 1 star for location (a min walk from the 2nd Ave station), 1 star for the late happy hour (went here around 2:30am on Thursday, it's 1/2 price drinks 11pm-4am!) and 1 star for my drink which I enjoyed. But they lose the other 2 stars on customer service and overall atmosphere...when we got there it felt like we were intruding on a private party...the bartender was busy talking to some friends/patrons and didn't acknowledge us for a while then eventually came over and asked if we were ordering. I asked her about the happy hour and for a menu and she just pointed across the bar and said "there it is". She honestly seemed bothered that we were ordering & interrupting her convo....It's a pretty small bar which is fine but seems like a place that would be fun only if you are a regular or friends with the staff. This is an Amazing spot. I usually come here after work on Fridays. Their Happy Hour is from 5-9pm which is pretty much on point. It tends to get a little crowded, but the atmosphere is still great. The bartenders are dope, the DJ is usually hit or miss, but most times he's on point with it. The drinks are strong, the margaritas are even stronger depending on your tequila of choice. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking to have a great time and wants to meet new people. I promise you wont leave empty handed or sober. read more

Ten years ago I celebrated my birthday "after hours" at this place and it was a nightmare. I didn't think it would still be open, considering the dramatic shifts in that area in the last few years, but lo and behold "La Linea" todavia esta! To borrow the words of my bestie, it was like the same great mix of music from Fat Buddha Bar but without the chill Asians. The music was on point - heavy on the 90's hip hop with a little RiRi and crunk thrown in there for "spice" to get the ladies dancing all ratchet. Some of them, unfortunately, were a little ratchet in other ways. Oh how I missed my chill Asians, who love themselves that hip-hop and dance their night away all full of compliments and respectful glances for their fellow woman. When someone let off a stink bomb in the middle of the dance floor (yes, that actually happened), it was all over for me. 3 Stars for nostalgia, the sweet girl by the toilets that was nice to my bestie and the "Thong Song." read more

Been coming here for a few years! I love coming early during happy hour in the summer time, the place is usually empty and the bartenders are chill. At night the music is bumping and it gets packed. The music is always good and the drinks are priced well. Floors are sticky and bathrooms are small, but the crowd is friendly and casual. read more

IM going to give la linea 3 and a half and heres why; thursdays are fairly decent with the close to friday crowd getting into gear,a number of years ago thurs here used to be crazy good.Fridays is when it goes to another level,more often than not the djs are usually on point and having the big screen show some of your favorite oldies really sparks the nostalgia.The one downside of this place is the female bartenders,if they took the idot test they would fail,they are rude not very good with numbers,impatient,bitchy and these are just their good points.Other than that hitting here on a friday wont leave you disappointed as you dance dance dance! read more

I was looking for a place to have drinks lastnight. A friend n myself heard the music from outside so we decided to walk in n have a drink. It's a lil hole in the wall spot. But that was okay with me the ladies bathroom was sooooo dirty but I'm was surprised by the crown mixed group. I had a few drinks at 10pm which were $6 than after 1 they were $10 to $12 but despite the drinks going up I had a really good time we dance until three a.m. very good music n nice crown. Went here around 8p on a Thursday night for a friend's birthday party. Good music, affordable drinks, staff was decent. We had a large group of people that didn't work so well in the space (open space near entrance, tiny hallway x bar, back room open space). A lot of people were standing in the hallway which just clogged up the whole place lol but if you wanna be by the bar that's where you need to be! This is my go to spot on Friday nights. Mixed crowd, hop hop, 80' 90's music playing and happy hour till 8pm. If you want couch seating in the back get there early as they tend to be taken quickly. The bartenders tend to switch up but they are all very good at making drinks. They don't serve food there but just go across the street and grab a slice :) read more

I got in there about 5:30 and the place was pretty much empty. The bartender was really nice and the drinks were really cheap. It was the perfect place to just chill for a couple of hours. Cheap drinks, good crowd! Come on, my Long Island was $6 during happy hour (which ends daily at 9 pm), you can't beat that ANYWHERE in the city! Also there are a lot of eateries nearby, so you can mosey over to Katz's Deli or just watch a movie at the Landmark Sunshine Theater. I like this place! Every time I'm here the music is on point and I'm dancing through the night. Only thing I would say is the gets really hot if you're in the back so I would advise people to stick in the middle or front areas where there is more cool air. The most disgusting bouncer I have ever met in my entire existence and I have been to plenty of places in NY and around the world. The bouncer said no hats allowed so I went to another bar and eventually came back and took my hat off. Other people in line had hats on and he allowed then to take their hats off and obviously place it in their pocket. As soon as I approached him, he tells me my hat better not be in my purse and he needs to search my purse to make sure. Completely prejudice and discriminating. If you get there early, it's a nice lil spot to hang out. Once it starts to fill up you notice how narrow it is. A friend of mine hosted her birthday party here. She had the back room all to herself for $200 the entire night (7pm-4am!!) There were around two long coffee tables for our drinks (which I got mine for free and they were pretty good) and one small one for her birthday cupcakes. Once the DJ came in, the music started off with some of the 80s Top 40 and then moved on to the 90s classic reggae and a lot of everything in the 2000s. It got a lil hot and stuffy once the music started dropping and the areas where the a/c didn't reach were dead zones. The DJ either got too many requests for certain songs or he was trying to get himself together, but the songs that played consecutively seemed to have the same beat. After the 5th song, it was a bit annoying. There were around 5-7 birthdays being celebrated that night so it was pretty packed. Once my bf and I said our goodbyes we knew getting out was going to be like mission impossible. It wasn't nearly as bad as we thought it would be, but I did have to squeeze my butt past guys holding up the wall while trying not to spill anyone's drink by the bar. Overall, it's a fun place. If you can, come early and enjoy some time in the back room with your friends, if not be prepared for a little crowd. The BEST part?! It's not even a "walk" from the F and M trains, AWESOME! read more
