Not a good place to work or study (absolutely NO outlets), but the food was alright, and it was very fast. It was my first time in the establishment and I clearly had no idea how to go about ordering, such as where to go, where to stand, whether or not I was supposed to sit down while waiting, and where to pick up my food. I was obviously confused about it, and none of the servers, cashiers, or other workers bothered to help me even though it was not crowded on a Friday afternoon. At least I was only wandering around awkwardly for a few minutes, because it took very little time for the servers to prep my food and hand it to me. I STILL don't know where/how I was supposed to get my food. The Caesar salad was fine. It was exactly what you would expect. Mini lemon tart was tasty and I would get it again. They also threw in some slices of bread, butter, and two jams which were both delicious. Overall the food was fine. Cannot get the Chicken Friand served hot. Last time the server actually pulled the plate out of the fridge and then put the friand on it. What? I gave it right back to her. The mgr put it through the oven and then brought it to me. It was good, but no one ever apologized. Got the feeling they thought I was weird for not wanting my food to be served on a cold plate from the fridge. Tonight the server wanted to serve it on a cold plate and looked at me like I had 6 heads when I asked her to heat it up in the oven. She made a big deal out of doing that and bringing to me so it would be safe because it will just be so hot. Fine. She brought me the plate and it was room temperature--the food and the plate. I feel like I'm in some sort of Twilight Zone where my husband and I are the only ones who think it's a good idea to serve Chicken Friand, soup, hot tea actually hot. But they think it's a good idea to put luke warm food and beverages in ice cold dishes and serve it. Also I asked the salad maker to put half the dressing he normally puts on the Cesar salad on mine. Unfortunately I was busy talking to the Chicken Friand server and didn't watch him make my salad. It's was a soggy sopping wet mess. I could drink the salad. Disgusting. I was very disappointed with this location. I ordered three breakfast entrees online for pickup. The eggs were burned and unseasoned. So I apparently have to ask for salt, pepper, butter and soft scrambled eggs in the "extras". I thought it was the English that liked their food bland? #sarcasm* I failed to receive the two orders of avocado I had paid for, and with three breakfast entrees they only included a single fork. Good for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The pastries and other treats are simply delicious (if you like coconut, try the coconut cake it is my fav). They have wine to go with the meal (not sure if they have any beer). The soups and salads are more than enough to fill you up, but they do offer several options - All Good! This was my go to place with the other moms when our kids had a late game or school function. Its also a great place to read a book and relax, because it is a the perfect place to sit and drink a cup of coffee. The nice extra is they provide free bread with a butter and jam to go with that cup of joe. Although this is a chain, it's still good. I would recommend and I will return. read more

I ate here on 3/28/21 at the location in Webster TX. Essentially what you are getting is the "French" version of Jason's Deli (not that there is anything wrong with that). The portions at this restaurant are small and frankly overpriced. The soup was lukewarm at best. Their coffee was of about Starbucks caliber. My order was taken incorrectly. I was given a small salad when I ordered a large salad. The cashier took 5 minutes to figure out how to ring up our order and had to be assisted by the manager. Upon getting our food and eating our food, the manager comes to our table, She stated that she had to wring up the order again as it "didn't go through". We showed her our receipt but she still insisted upon ringing it up again. How did it not "go through" if we had a receipt showing the order had gone through? Essentially, we were charged twice for the same meal. I asked her what the plan was since we shouldn't have to pay for the same food twice. I was told the double charge "would be removed at the end of the day". That isn't a solution and said so. The manager told me that she had a new cashier and he had made the same mistake on three tables. That isn't my problem. I shouldn't have to pay twice due to their inability to train their staff. The manager gave a half hearted "apology" and then turned on the tears as a sympathy ploy but offered no other solution. Bottom line: If you like small portions, poorly trained staff, and management that has no clue how to handle employee mistakes, La Madeleine is the restaurant for you. read more

Our first time trying La Madeleine...and our last. My wife's quiche tasted line it was cooked in a pan that had recently been dunked in a vat of vinegar. My eggs Benedict came with eggs that we're sunny side up, as opposed to poached. The croissant was burnt, the ham tasted as if it was a day or two past its expiration date and the icing on the cake was the "we couldn't really care less" attitude of the staff. Today I ordered the chicken friand sampler which comes with tomato basil soup (or soup of u choice) and a house or Cesar salad. I was disappointed today because I went to the bread station to get bread and there was no strawberry jam. I had to ask several people before I could get some plastic ware. The chicken friand lacked chicken. I couldnt taste the dressing on the salad. None of the employees were smiling. My friend that I was eating with suprised me with the lemon tart (my all time favorite dessert). It was horrible. It tasted like either the saucer that they sat the tart on or the tray it came off of had been wiped off with a dirty or soured rag versus going thru the dishwasher. I could not eat the crust as thats what was sitting on the tray and saicer. The filling had not been penetrated by the dish liquid or other chemicals. Iam so disappointed. This Le Madeleine's just lost my business. I will drive to pearland, rice village or river oaks locations the next time I have a craving. This is my second time having a very similarly bad experience. Came for lunch today with a couple of friends. I had the Chicken Friand and it was delicious! The line moved quickly although it was very busy when we arrived. The only negative was the noise level. I'm not a big fan of this setup because it causes a build up of customers as soon as you walk in. Not to mention you don't get your food all at once. Thanks to La Madeleine next to Baybrook Mall, I now have an answer to the conundrum of how one can get food FAST without resorting to FAST food. I was in the neighborhood to perform in a concert at UH Clear Lake and needed to charge my batteries before draining them during 2-1/2 hours of singing. I was a bit concerned I'd have the time to do this because the mall traffic was terrible and I had to be at UHCL in 40 minutes. Then I spotted La Madeleine and zipped into the parking lot. Ahead of us in the line at the counter were two ladies who were decisionally challenged. No problem. They graciously invited us to move ahead of them (five stars for the ladies). As a singer, I am not only protective of my throat but am always on the prowl for elixirs to soothe it. La Madeleine's terrific tomato basil soup is one of them. I've already waxed lyrical about this soup in a La Madeleine review for their Town & Country location, but I'll continue to sing its praises here. We were served immediately and when my total for the bowl of soup was rung up at the cash register, the $4.86 bill was music to my ears. I relished every spoonful and was whistling dixie when I returned to my car less than 15 minutes later. Soon after, as I recounted how much I enjoyed La Madeleine's soup to one of the petite sopranos, she struck a blue note by reciting from memory, "Yeah, but it has 242 calories and 22.8 fat grams per serving." I have only one response to this... Ladies, if you crave something deliciously warm, thick and creamy running down your throat regardless of the caloric consequences, there are few things that satisfy more than this tomato basil soup. The salad is also so good that you really don't need the dressing. Try it on the side. Perfect for work day lunch. They have decent pastries, and I know most people are crazy for their soups. On our way to the Houston Chamber Choir's Messiah concert at UH Clear Lake, Dolph and I were in search of a non-McDonald's quick meal of comfort food. La Madeline fit the bill nicely. We got there today at about 5:15pm, in between the afternoon and evening crowds and were able to order our meals with almost no waiting. Dolph had the restaraunt's famed tomato basil soup with shredded cheese and two large croutons while I had a quiche lorraine and small caesar salad. We both had water. Dolph's soup "hit the spot" while my food was good, too. More than good, actually: it was exemplary with super-quick service to boot. Of course, it helps that La Madeline is a Luby's-style buffet line establishment. My quiche was under heating lamps, but it was fresh and it was good. My salad was made while I watched, and the staff there were more than courteous. We needed a quick and good meal, and got the package in spades. So I had already cooked dinner and was looking for a place where my husband and I could sit down for a nice dessert and coffee. I perused through the options for dessert on Yelp and stumbled upon this place. It looked interesting enough so I gave them a call to see what their hours were. I was surprised to hear that they didn't close until 10pm (it was a weeknight) so needless to say I was very excited! We enter the restaurant to find it's one of those places where you wait in line, order your food at a register and then pick a table to eat your food. My husband and I were ecstatic to find it wasn't an overly fancy place and that we were perfectly fine arriving basically in hoodies and sweatpants/pj pants. The interior decor was very cute and cozy. It kind of reminds me of the inside of a wooden tavern and there's this really neat fireplace that was running in the middle of the whole place. My husband and I were here just for dessert but after browsing through the menu, I found it had a pretty nice selection of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items as well! I am very excited to come back here and try them out for brunch and dinner! The prices seem a bit high for an order and sit down place but I'll more accurately comment on that once I actually taste the food (other than dessert). I ordered two desserts (I'm such a lush), I ordered a cup of French coffee (free refills and you can pick or change between their options of French or American coffee) the tiramisu and the mini lemon tart. My husband ordered this very rich looking chocolate cake with raspberry filling. I also ordered a bottle of their tomato basil soup to go because I heard so many good things about it. (Despite for the fact that once you read the nutrition facts on the soup, you might think twice about having too much of it). Anyway, my whole order came to about $19. Kind of pricey but it's alright since there's no tip added. I would have thought my total would be about $15ish for what I got. I didn't really care for the lemon tart but the tiramisu was absolutely divine! It was so incredibly good. Sad to say but I've never been big on chocolate so I didn't care to even try my husband's dessert. But judging by the look on his face and sudden lack of words, I take it he quite enjoyed the chocolate cake. There was nothing left of it. I absolutely love how I can show up at this place at 9pm at night and still be able to sit down with only coffee and dessert and not have a server look at me like I was crazy or something. Also, more bonus points for this place is that they supply an unlimited amount of condiments and drinks for you. Meaning, if you pay for your cup or mug, you are welcome to unlimited amounts of refills along with the freedom to change your original soda or drink choice. They also had an array of fresh bread and butter for you set out for free to compliment your meal. This place seems very cute and cozy. You could bring a casual date here and sit by the fireplace and it'd be nice and romantic. Or you could bring a family, catch up with a friend, or even simply sit by yourself and do work or read. Edit: I have tried a few of their lunch items now and this is what I have thought. Despite how basic their french onion soup seems to be, (simple assembly of broth with onions, croutons and cheese) I found it to be super delicious! The pasta salad is pretty good but not my favorite. The tomato basil soup is SUPER heavy. I see a lot of people enjoy it but I didn't particularly care for it. They have a lot of pretty good lunch combos which I like (ie. duet magnifique) The French Dip, Chicken Parisen, and Croque Monsieur were all pretty good sandwiches; again seemingly on the heavy side but that's kind of to be expected if you read the description and ingredients of the sandwiches. read more

Great desserts, breakfast is wonderful and the coffee beats Starbucks and you can refill it for free. I recomend the Napoleon Dessert, my favorite is the strawberry Napoleon, and I also love the Chocolate Almond Croisant. The French Country Breakfast is more than enough to split for two and you also get free bread, butter, jam and water refills. I'm so upset as I write this review. I went in for a to go order on a quick break from work. I have an extremely busy and hectic work schedule and often times I don't even have time to stop and eat. I was able to get away for about 10 minutes to pick up food and was planning on eating when I got back to work. I get back to work only to discover that my order was wrong so I couldn't even eat. It's been years since I have been to La Madeleine and I was somewhat disappointed as what once was authentic french food has morphed into french-like food that lacks the authenticity that once was the hallmark of la Madeleine. (I also miss being able to actually buy french bread there). The Croque Monsieur was not very flavorful and I could not even taste the Swiss cheese that should have been used to make it although there was plenty of ham in the sandwich. The tomato Basel soup was pretty good, but my wife was not impressed by the onion soup and we were disapointed by the fact that the cheese was not gratiné as it should have been, but instead, just dumped on the soup and left to melt..... Being French, and having often frequented the original La Madeleine in Dallas, I was expecting a better experience and am not sure I will be going back except, maybe just to pickup pastries..which I am hoping are still authentic.
