Just up the hill from the bay front with no views worth mentioning, this place was still surprising. Be wary that the gravel parking lot only holds about 4 cars, including the one handicap spot. We came in for breakfast, and it is a bit tight even when it's not too busy. Probably helps that it's clearly an old house converted to a restaurant. It smells great inside with all the bakery options. We ordered the traditional eggs Benedict and the banana french toast. The french toast is decadent! I really enjoyed it but if you don't like creamy or sweet things, this isn't for you. Very generous serving and yum! The eggs Benedict I'm told was good, but nothing stand out from others my husband has tried. He said the presentation was bland. It was just the two halves of the muffin with the toppings, he felt it could have used something else. Also, keep in mind this place makes their bread, it's the good stuff. So both the breads in the french toast and Benedict were harder to cut through. We enjoyed the food, and the fresh squeezed orange juice, but it was in a tiny little glass for $4 or whatever it was. Pretty sad overall. The decor may have once been sort of shabby-chic, but has become run-down (rips and tears in the cheap plastic tablecloths, etc.). We were the first ones through the door, but somehow they were already out of pan-au-chocolat, and the croissant I did manage to get was burned and was just rolled bread, not the flakey, buttery treat that a croissant should be. I got an omelette that came with cubed lunchmeat and "imported" Gruyère that might as well have been a Kraft single, given the dish it was served in. Would not recommend. read more

If you love eggs benedict let me break down the one she got: Sardou Benedict: English muffin - homemade and delicious! Poached egg - amazing job! Holindaise suave - big let down, such a key ingredient in an eggs benny and they butchered it. Not good. Bacon - couldn't cut through it, not very impressed. Artichoke bottom - you might be wondering, what is an artichoke bottom? Well, it's super weird... it's big, hard to cut through, and doesn't taste like an artichoke. DON'T eat artichoke bottoms. Lesson learned. Moral of the story on the eggs benedict, if you normally love these guys, stay away from it here, you'll be disappointed. I got Chambord crepe: Don't, just don't do it. Final Thoughts: Restaurant was small, but cute. Overall this place was pretty brutal, prices were too high and food was sub-par. Don't waste your hard earned time and money! read more

Amazing. I am especially fond of french style cafes but this one is easily one of the best I have had the pleasure of dining at. The bananas & cream. So simple and yet so out of this world. A must-try. We also ordered the Traditional Eggs Benedict and the Eggs Sardou. The traditional is made with a nice thick piece of tender smoky ham. The Eggs Sardou comes with thick slices of artichoke heart. All of these are on home made English muffins that would be amazing on their own. Have been here many times for breakfast and are always happy. Decided to try dinner. So glad we did. Husband had the lamb chops special and I had the roasted pear and French onion soup. Everything was delicious. The meal came with bread that is made in house and veggies/ dip. We enjoyed champagne with dinner. This place is heaven. Every time we are in town, we make sure that we eat here. The food is consistently delicious. Fantastic baked goods and entrees. Get the banana, cream and hazelnut dish. It's so good! And kids love it too. But note that it's not an ideal breakfast spot if your kids are not used to eating out. It is a bistro style seating. Food was absolutely stunning. I had the Paris omelette - it was the lightest and fluffiest omelette we've ever had. My husband had the cold smoked salmon Benedict, also delicious. The hollandaise was creamy and thick and they had a side of capers that added a wonderful salty punch, if you wanted to add them. The fresh squeezed oj was exactly like you'd find in a Parisian cafe! Dungeness crab Benedict is not to be missed. Jen enjoyed her Paris omelette and croissant . Food should have been hotter when served, so minus 1 star. Everything else was spot on (coffee, service, parking, decor). Will definitely be back next time we are in Newport. It has limited seating, so on weekends come early. Dinner is only served once per month we reservations required. While dinner is pricy, I am intrigued to try it. I bet it is delicious. read more

My word. I came in here and was worried because i had missed breakfast. It was now lunch... I had read nothing on Yelp about their lunch menu and was terrified. Nonetheless we sat down and ordered. The mimosas were delicious. Definitely fresh squeezed. The bread was decadent, soft and dreamy. Now for the main event. My boyfriend and I split a zucchini sandwich with olive tapenade, feta and bell pepper. My boyfriend has never been a fan of olives, ever. From the frosting on the cake to the case that houses the pastries; you've arrived home. I've dined in here before and I've now done the COVID-19 precautionary take out and no love is spared. Incredibly delicious. We both had the special - a french toast with lemon curd and berry compote. Every bite was heavenly. The eggs benedict going to the other tables looked perfect. The coffee was really good, and with a hit of cream it was great. The service was spot on, friendly and fast enough to get the food to us while it was still hot. I really don't think the people up here realize just how far superior the dining experience is / can be here compared to other parts of the country. Yes yes. I know -- NY, SanFran, LA, Chicago, NOLA -- all fabulous in their own right. Santa Fe, Austin, Denver/Boulder. True. All true. But chair for chair -- there are more glowingly superior tables up here than I even knew existed. And I'm a big fat foodie if there ever was one. La Maison Bakery & Cafe puts me (once again) in that "embarrassment of riches" frame of mind. I am in danger of running out of superlatives. The croissant that was served with my omelette was tender, flaky, melt-in-your-mouth wonderful. And it was hot from just being baked (not re-heated, nuked, steamed, or lifted from a warming tray -- really and truly hot off the pan!) And it came with a saucer of cool butter and dark marionberry jam. The omelette brought Julia Child to mind. I bought her "French Chef" cookbook with birthday money when I was 12, after seeing her prepare an omelette on public television. And THAT is the kind of omelette they serve at La Maison. Tender. Fluffy. not wet -- and not dry. Not firm and not squishy. Not dense, and yet full of round, mouth-feel umami. This one was also filled with 1/2" dice ham, gruyere, roasted pepper strips, and onions caremelized in oh-so-slightly salty butter. Heavenly. Husband enjoyed a breakfast sandwich that should embarrass other breakfast sandwiches. The house-made english muffin was crunchy and chewy (I tasted!), and held a 2-egg omelette, cheese, and a 3/4" slab of the same tender ham that was in my omelette. Right after we ordered, we were brought complimentary saucers of sliced bananas, toasted hazelnuts, and cream -- dusted with brown sugar.... And if all that doesn't send your taste-budding expectations into overdrive -- The pastry case that runs the full width of the tiny cafe is filled with scones, cinnamon rolls, fruit tarts, sins of dark chocolate and nuts and maple cream and -- layer cakes. And teas on the counter range from bergemot laced Earl Gray to the dark & smokey (and well paired with pastry!) Lapsang Souchong.... We took 6 different pastries home with us to sample throughout the weekend. So far, the toasted coconut tart is the favorite -- but it is a favorite among a host of near perfect also-rans. Hard to beat for a nice breakfast. We started with the bananas with cream and hazelnuts -- a great start. Not too sweet, and a nice variety of textures. Based on good reviews and an attractive description my wife and I drive down to La Maison Cafe from Tillamook where we are staying for the week. By the way this breakfast was my birthday breakfast. Locals eat here. A wonderful breakfast and lunch place that serves dinners some nights. Very well worth it. Local seafood, great beef from Oregon. Best hamburger in town. Everything always cooked and presented exquisitely! This is my absolutely favorite place. If you're coming in and are being offered a pork chop or lamb chops special don't miss your chance! They are both amazing! Back to breakfast. This is the only place I feel that the taste/calories ratio makes it worth it to order a Benedict. I tried and loved them all, but my very favorite one is actually a Sardou - bacon + artichokes, who would've thought, but this one turns out to be my favorite!
