I didn't seem ample street parking around restaurant location. Front mural and lobby is beautiful, would suggest main reception use headset instead of handheld phone. High ceiling create a lot of noise and acoustic , hard for anyone to hear or speak well. Also background music volume should trying to make sure pleasant and not overly loud. When we sat down , host handed me the drink menu upside down, he apologize, but I would preferred just quickly correct to hand me the beverage menu. Our server when she first present our dining tour experience, I think would be good to read into if diners have any preference or liking before recommended suggestion dishes. Due to the poor acoustic, hard to hear her curate the menu. The presentation of the menu curating also not quite clear. Our table was located on side of walkway path facing a lot of traffic where I requested to sit on the other side of table instead of being push around and crowded in my seat. Maybe take into consideration of spacing of each seating because it's pretty crowded and my build is average fit. The table lamp is a great creation! We are pretty familiar with pisco , I ordered a pisco cocktail, it came with a fruit sticker on a slice of dried dragon fruit, we pointed out and it was sent back to re-make. Dishes were served in good pace, however, we did felt being rush, like they want to turn table because while I was enjoying my food and chewing , server came by ask how it was, that wasn't a nice interruption. Good to change plate after each dish so flavor is not mixed up in each dish. However, our table slab one must be not balanced, because my husband got serving plate spin on it's self like a ouija board we even showed that to our server, she just laugh at it. As we had made our dinner reservation for special occasion, server only acknowledged when we asked for a photo taken to inform us they are comp us dessert with champagne. I think as soon as we seated to acknowledged and greet us that way would have been more better. And as we were leaving, I went to use restroom, one stall ran out of toilet paper, that was a missed on restroom routine checkup not in place on busy service hours, should be address. This place is fantastic but a bit spendy. Service was great we loved most of the dishes. The only real problem was parking. We had to park in a LAZ parking garage across the intersection in Old Bellevue. Be really careful here as the "free" parking is limited and really not very clearly delineated from residential (?). $102 ticket at LAZ parking made the already spendy dinner at La Mar a little disappointing. La Mar needs to figure out how to let their customers know about validated parking that is easy to find and have validated. read more

Food was well made, looks nice and tastes good but the seafood isn't that fresh so you can definitely feel the fishy taste with the ceviche. We went on Valentines day and the experience wasn't great. When we checked the set menu they had, there was grilled lobster dish which I was going to order tjat but when we arrived, there isnt that dish on the menu, instead, they had the duck fried rice n the eggplant dish for you to choose from on the set menu. Food was excellent, but service needs some improvement, especially training around how to deal with table with children. Firstly when we came in with a stroller, the front desk person didn't guide us to the ramp and she just hopped onto the stairs. Then we had to wave down a server to ask for a high chair and the chair was quite dirty. When clearing plates on the table, the server reaches directly above our child with the heavy plates which is quite dangerous. Generally, the waiter either just stands in the corner or chatting with others. We had to wave him down to get water multiple times. We had to ask for our next dishes when we are done with the cold dishes for quite a long time. Also I feel like most guests with children may want a more rapid service, so it's best to ask if they want the dishes be served as they come out and not waiting on different courses. Especially for big groups doing family style. I just feel like the server is not very flexible and accommodating overall. The food is excellent. Flavoring is exquisite and creative. We really truly enjoy the food. We just wish that the service is on par with the great food, nice ambiance and the price. read more

Me and my husband went here for our anniversary. Look, I was hesitant about the price of this place, BUT the service, food and vibes were so good. I had a civiche that was truffle and fresh fish that was amazing. Also my husband has the duck and rice which was also very good. I love Peruvian food, and this place was for sure fancier than I am used to but still true to the flavors of the cuisine. We had reservations for an early dinner on Valentine's Day, which where made weeks before the date. On 1/24/25, I received a text message indicating that in order to keep our reservation, I needed to commit to a set price menu of $135 per person and a credit card was needed to secure the reservation. I would have appreciated if that had been disclosed when we made our original reservation. Was excited to try this place especially after enjoying many visits to their SF location. Unfortunately, our experience on Friday night was disappointing. First off even though we were on time for our reservation we had to wait 30 minutes to be seated - no explanation as to why - and when we were finally seated we were in the bar not the dining room which would have been more comfortable and what we would have expected for a 2.5+ hour dinner. Bar table and seats are very low and with live DJ playing loud music you had to lean in the entire time to talk and hear. Food and drinks were solid, server friendly and knowledgeable but rarely checked in after dishes were dropped off. Also something we ordered never arrived. Ceviches - sampler and special truffle - were delicious. Tres leches cake was one of the best I've had. Uni starter dish too spicy and pasty to really appreciate the fresh flavor and delicate texture of uni. Rice in stone bowl and creamy pasta dish were good. I had been looking forward to La Mar having made reservations over a month before but the service was not personal maybe because we were in the bar area? But we didn't think we were going to be dining in the bar. Either way, having to wait 30 minutes for our reservation/table and being seated in the bar set a negative tone for the rest of the evening. read more

To drink, my husband had a pisco sour ($17 and very good) while I ordered a Margarita (not on their drink menu). Server suggested Casamigos Reposado tequila. Much to my dismay when the check arrived, it cost $39. Thought it was a mistake - but alas it was not. La Mar far exceeded my expectations! My husband and I are big fans of ceviche and bonus points for the upscale vibes, so this was a natural date night pick on a Tuesday evening for our anniversary. We were warmly greeted upon entering and although we had no reservation, we were promptly seated in the very cute lounge area. Our server was bubbly and thoroughly explained the menu to us, providing recommendations along the way. For drinks, we had an Inca Mule (refreshingly sweet) and a perfect original Pisco Sour (must try!) and we brought out complimentary taro chips with a delicious dipping sauce. The sauce was legit addictive. We started with the Cebiche Tasting which was a great way to sample a few of the specialty dishes of the restaurant. Both my husband and I ranked the Limeño cebiche as #1 as it had a bit of spice and we love spice but his 2nd favorite was the Clásico which was light and refreshing and my 2nd favorite was the Nikkei which was delightfully Japanese-inspired and packed full of flavor. For entrees we tried Chaufa de Aeropuerto and Lomo Saltado and loved them both, though totally different. The icing on the cake, after finding out it was our anniversary, they brought out the most delicious chocolate cake to celebrate. Beautiful ambiance, great service, stellar food-- I can't recommend this spot enough! Apparently there's a DJ on the weekends and I can't wait to bring friends back for that. Giving a rating of 1 because despite the food being excellent, the hospitality was not. We made this reservation for our anniversary months in advance, requesting a booth so we could enjoy a romantic night. Instead, we were seated in the bar and one of the seats wasn't even a chair! It was this mini stool like you'd see in a play area for children! We asked to be moved, but they refused, citing other reservations - though there were a multitude of other two-tops available that they could have easily moved swapped us to. They finally reluctantly agreed to at least replace the stool with an actual chair. Unfortunately, the service after that was not great either. Ultimately, the server forgot about us entirely - we had to track them down to remind them we were still waiting for our check after 15+ minutes.
