The food here is actually pretty good, but they keep raising their prices higher and higher, and it no longer makes sense to eat here. You can get much tastier food at Chuy's on 290 and 1960/Highway 6 and pay less. Their fajitas are good, but you'll pay $3.00 extra for shedded cheese & sour cream. (Chuy's includes them for free). Went there for the first time with my family last night. The restaurant is very clean and well decorated. We had 4 in our party and were seated immediately. La Maria is a very good Mexican Restaurant. While visiting family in Texas, their power went out and wouldn't be restored for hours. We didn't know what to do so we headed to La Maria for food and drinks. One unique thing about this place is their salsa. Not only do they bring traditional red salsa, they also bring green salsa verde. Both were very good. The red salsa had more of a kick to it, so if you can't handle spicy, stick to the verde. We also ordered some traditional queso and some queso flamendeos. The traditional queso was good and came with a side of jalapenos. The flamendeos was melted montery jack with chorusing and shrimp. This was awesome. The cheese was perfectly melted and gooey. The added chorusing and shrimp really went well together and was my favorite thing I tried. The service was very good. At least three different people checked on our table throughout our meal and each was very friendly. One complaint is that in large bold letters on their window they advertised free wi-fi. Unfortunately we couldn't connect. I'm not sure what was wrong, but that wasn't a huge deal. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you're in the Cypress-Fairfield area and looking for good Mexican food. read more

My bride and I have eaten here twice now and are finding it very good Tex-Mex. I have had the Tamale dinner as well as the beef enchiladas and the bride has had the cheese enchiladas and the chicken quesadillas. All have been excellent. The queso is rather plain though and the Salsa needs some heat. The menu offers a great many things so we both look forward to sampling more of it in the future. read more

Ordered the tortilla soup, added a small amount of cheese on top then noticed green mold throughout the shredded cheese. Makes me sick to think of those who ate moldy cheese in their enchiladas or quesadillas that couldn't be seen. Never again. It gets one star because the red salsa is great! The green sauce is disgusting imho. Got mixed fajitas, and the chicken was dry and over cooked and the beef had been over tenderized. It's almost as if they used chuck steak in strips and tenderized it. Because if this was skirt then it was the oldest and toughest cow it came off of. The meat flavor was bland and unexciting. The rice was bland and unexciting. The boracho (sp) beans were the highlight of this place. Oh and the flour tortillas. They were amazing. Their corn tortillas came from a bag. I wish I was kidding but yeah. Honestly I won't be here again. You probably shouldn't eat here, either. Summary- Ok Americanized Mexican food with decent service. Given what I have had in the area (within a 20 minute ride) I won't rush back. Food- 2.5 Stars Nothing bad, nothing great. The red salsa that came with the chips was the worst salsa I can remember having, there are better grocery store jar salsa's. The green one was OK. The fajitas poblano were acceptable with a large serving for one person. There needed to be more lettuce/guac/pico/tortillas provided though considering the mondo sized plate of meat and veggies. It was also a bit burnt. The quesadilla was also pretty standard, nothing great nothing terrible. Service- 3 Stars Service by committee approach, but we only felt abandoned one time. Drinks- 4 Stars Pretty solid Mango Margarita available in huge size. Standard beer menu. Atmosphere- 3 Stars Pretty nice inside, large, loud.
