Great decorations! The salsa was too mild. The fajitas came out sizzlin! Great service but overall thought it was in the middle.

I really liked their fajitas and their chips were very fresh. Very kid friendly and didn't wait long for our food.

Pretty good Mexican restaurant in the Leavenworth/ Lansing area. Went in for a late lunch. Service was decent and food was on par. Portions sizes are just right vs the going trend of extra large portions, sides of rice and beans are much more manageable. Chips and salsa are great (salsa is not too spicy for the little one and hot enough to satisfy others. Will go back again. read more

THE BEST Mexican restaurant. I always went all the time. Then they closed the one that was close to where I lived. Now if we can go, which is almost never, we have to drive all the way out to St. Lansing. If you live in or are near this La Mesa then enjoy while you can. read more

From walking in to walking out everything is fantastic! Starting with the free chips and salsa, I rarely like salsa and their salsa is one that I eat every time I go. Nearly every time I go I order a #6 which is two tacos, beans and rice. The environment its self is colorful and unique. With decorative tables to chairs. I make it to La Mesa at least 3-4 times a month. The restaurant building is by it's self and has its own parking lot. Would recommend to any one looking for quality food with a great taste. The reason it got a 4 not a 5 is because its a little hard to hear during busy hours. read more

Our fave Mexican restaurant! The entire staff is attentive, very friendly and fast! The atmosphere is colorful and comfortable. I visited La Mesa 3 times over 3-4 months. First time by myself and ate at the bar. All 3 times ordered chicken "taquitos mexicanos". Food and chips were above average all 3 times. Service is hit and miss, on my second visit we waited 10 minutes to get served in a slow restaurant. On the 3rd visit the service was quick but the "taquitos mexicanos" was served alone with no rice or beans. I don't believe 3 taquitos with a pinch of cheese, lettuce and Pico de Gallo was worth $8.95. I didn't complain because I wasn't very hungry. But it did look like an appetizer and I will be hesitant to return. read more

I honestly don't know how anyone goes to any other Mexican food restaurant around Leavenworth. This place does not have a huge selection for vegetarians, but what I have eaten there over several visits has been really really good. Not bland at all, it has a ton of flavor. Based on some of the positive reviews, I was extremely disappointed with the food here. The chips seemed a bit stale. The salsa watery. We ordered queso which was lumpy and luke warm. For dinner I ordered the chimichanga and my husband had the la mesa nachos. About 5 mins after ordering our food was brought out on extremely hot plates. I'm wondering if a microwave was used. The chimichanga was very greasy on the inside and it wasn't from frying because the tortilla wasn't fried. Not sure what was going on with the Mexican rice but it had Lima beans, green beans, corn, and carrots. I've never had rice from a Mexican place like that. It was not good. My husband who usually eats anything was not very happy with his food either. Not sure how you mess up nachos but they did. The only thing we liked was the decor. Other than that our waiter was very inattentive and the food was bad. There is better Mexican in town we won't be back. read more

I have been to La Mesa a handful of times over the past year and every experience has been consistently great. The food is hot and always correct even when we make minor changes. The portion sizes are good and food is of great quality. The service is usually great, with a minor delay in drink refills here and there. Try the sangria margarita and strawberry margaritas. This was probably the best Mexican restaurant until today. The sewer smell at the entrance was terrible. The servers probably are used to it. The best tacos I've ever eaten! Second best salsa I have ever eaten. Complimentary tortilla chips with salsa during meal is so good it's addictive.
