Stopped by this place for a quick treat on the way home. The churros were already made, but they did fill them and roll them in the cinnamon sugar on the spot. I recently tried this churro spot based on recommendation. Now let me say this, I'm not really a Churro guy, sure I've had them but I never sit around and say hey I could sure go for a Churro. With that being said I tried this place. The first thing I notice is they have a really cool way of adding filling to the churros. Basically a machine that infuses them straight through the center. It's a great place to stop in to get yourself some churros on the go. The lady working here was very kind and welcoming. They offer different flavors for their filling, like strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, caramel, cheese, and guava. They also offer homemade bunuelos as well. Once you ask for your churros, she will as you if you want some sugar on your churros. The correct answer here would be YES. Churros here and very inexpensive and very tasty and warm. Not really a complaint, but I've been to another churro places that make the churros as you order them. They'll put the batter in the fryer and fill it with your flavor in front of you. SO glad we stumbled upon this unassuming little churro spot on the southwest side of the city. We were picking up tacos across the street...... and my sweet tooth could not hold itself back. I. Needed. Churros. We walked in and it's a tiny inside, no seats, no tables, just delicious smelling churros and a sweet lady working behind the counter. I ordered a caramel and a chocolate churro, boyfriend got two strawberry churros. I ate mine immediately in the car (duh), and they were still so fresh and warm. These churros are INSANE. Probably some of the best I've had. Perfect amount of sprinkled sugar coating, crisp & freshly fried outside, warm soft inside. The filling was the perfect amount, and it didn't take away from the taste of the churro itself. All in all, I suggest anyone that is nearby (or not) to come check this place out. I woke up one Saturday and had Don Churro resounding in my head, a must try. I engaged on a trip from the northwest side of the city to Pilsen just for Don Churro. I mean I stopped for tacos too but I swear, that trip was for Churros. Don Churro I kind of like a "grab and go" type of store with no real places to sit and enjoy churro. It's a "on-the-go" type of snack anyway, I was not mad. I was greeted by a friendly man and they had all the different freshly made and filled churros on display. There is a choice of chocolate, vanilla, caramel, strawberry, and Bavarian crème. Seriously, it smells like heaven in there. The smells alone are filling. If you are there long enough, you might even be able to see the magic filling happening, I was not but I bet it looks super cool. I did see the large containers holding the chocolate, vanilla, strawberry inside. For fillings. MAGICAL FILLINGS! Prices were $1.25 a piece and so damn worth it. They make other stuff too, I only came for the churros though. Prices were cheap and the churros were chewy, crispy and fried until golden perfection and tossed on Cini-sugar mix. This place offers vegan cream options which is really nice! cash only though but i think this may have been temporary I really like the chocolate and caramel flavors. the strawberrry tasted a bit artificial ( try the strawberry at xurro tho! its super delicious) I love that this place is super small and mom-pop vibey. no place to sit/eat. just grab and go. there's a small loading section in front of the store that I left my car with blinkers on to grab and go. I honestly think xurro is better though. They have a better deal for a dozen (this place is just $1.5 per churro x 12 for a dozen). Amazing! I've never heard of vegan churros being sold anywhere! They have 4 vegan flavors- plain, Bavarian creme, strawberry, and guava. This is so authentic too! Maybe the only authentic vegan churro place on Earth? Who knows! Love this Churro place! I walked by while checking out the Pilsen murals and the Churro smell got me. It was amazing and still warm with cinnamon and sugar with the caramel filling. The churros were not overly stuffed nor sweet. Also loved that they had Abuelita hot chocolate too! The man at the shop was friendly and they had other goodies to try like Bunuelos. Very disappointing. I went in and they had old churros under the heat lamp. They were cold and hard and left that fat film on your tongue. I asked if she could drop a fresh churro so I could really experience it. She said no and that they make them fresh daily. The shelf life for a churro is about two hours tops under a heat lamp. I wanted to like them, happy to support, but maybe there's a better day time to check them out. I'll give them another chance though. read more

When I saw this churro shop I squealed! There are few things better than a fresh and warm, crunchy churro. I seriously couldn't get in the door quick enough. They had 4 or 5 different flavor choices. I tried the chocolate. It was good but a little stale. We walked in two minutes before closing and I'm sure that was part of it. After getting our tacos on, we wanted to get dessert to give us a sweet tooth kick. Normally the churro place seems to be closed, but they were finally open for us to come in and try one. At $1.20 (tax included), you really can't go wrong. The churros were tasty but I was sad that they weren't as filled up with the added ingredient of choice. My cream cheese churro was lukewarm and barely had any filling. Comparing this to other spots around Pilsen, I gotta say that I wasn't blown away. However, the lady inside serving us was extremely sweet. Maybe if I wasn't spoiled by other churro spots in the area, or if I hadn't gone during the afternoon, then I would have gotten a better churro. They sell a small array of other snacks and drinks as well. As other reviewers have mentioned, they have several flavor options, including cream cheese, guava, and caramel. I opted for one chocolate and one plain. Both were delicious, but my favorite was by far the plain. Crunchy, fluffy, warm, and not too sweet. Absolutely divine! The chocolate churro tasted slightly acidic - not bad, just unexpected. Great experience for a very affordable price. This place has been here for 30 years! How have I not seen it? I never knew this place existed until recently when I have walked past it. We moved into the area 2 years ago and just recently we have started walking over to a fave taco place of mine and then I noticed Don Churro. If you are health conscious like me then you probably don't eat churros. On this particular day, I said "fudge it, I'm having a chocolate churro!" I wish I hadn't because now I will never be able to walk past this place without going in. The churros cost $1.10 a piece and they have regular, chocolate and some other flavors that I did not notice after I saw the word chocolate. They are delicious and you just can't stop eating them. I purposely just bought two churros. These two were to be shared with my 2 year old and me as we walked home but we were going to save some for dad. Never happened. Your boy ain't really a proponent of sweets, so I'll admit that I always thought a churro was a churro. I know that concept isn't new, but to me that's some next level ISH (but not in some lame ritzy, gentrified way). Churros with guava, cream cheese, vanilla, strawberry, and my personal favorite, chocolate are their offerings. I don't even mess with plain churros anymore. Why would I when they have those assortment of flavors? That's dumb like people who call themselves "80's babies" when they were born in 1989. But if you basic, they have plain churros anyway. Ordering is a breeze. They aren't really busy (at least when I go) and I'm in & out. They don't have seating so order and get your ass out. Much like tacos, elotes, & sugar skulls, churros are a Mexican delicacy that non-Mexicans think are cool now.
