Paleta: pineapple mint on the left and strawberry, coconut, and pineapple/mint, right.

Walking the High Line? Make a paleta from this magic-maker part of your experience. I'd seen this company on friends' Instagram, but had yet to discover it myself. Because they were unpacking, we couldn't get a paleta at the small stand at the start of the northern part of the walk, but we found the second one in the covered section just north of the end stop at the Whitney Museum. And the timing was perfect. We needed the refreshing, bursting flavors. These ice pops are a must-have in NYC.

3.5 stars Had this in Isla Mujeres in Mexico for $1-2 each so when my friend brought me here in Brooklyn, I was excited, but skeptical, cause you know how NYC jacks up the price for everything. We arrived after closing so they were nice enough to reopen so we can try. There was a decent number of choices. We got the horchata and passion fruit flavor. What killed me was the price. $5 for horchata and $6 for passion fruit. I'm not a big fan of the cinnamon taste of the horchata but the texture of the milky popsicle was good. For the passion fruit, the flavor was good, but there are no bits of passion fruit or the seeds in it and each bite had icicles forming. It's a small hole in the wall. Cute place though. Would order this for a special occasion's special occasion. It is too pricey for me

Cute and easy. Nice big portions. Enough to enjoy with 2 people. Good for dates or just need to relax and refresh after a long day! Nice would come more during the summer.

So bummed. My favorite player was just Benched for the season!

I like an elevated food concept as much as the next girl. In fact, I could've probably lived pretty happily without doughnuts whatsoever until Dough came along, with its impossibly fluffy, pillowy creations, glazed with natural ingredients that taste exactly like what they're supposed to be. And okay, I'll begrudgingly confess that when I'm not in the mood for um, the dubiously sourced meat products that tend to dominate Chinatown Banh Mi, I don't mind paying a few bucks extra for a gringo-ized version containing supposedly 'clean' ingredients. So with all of that said, sure I was open to trying a $5 Milk-Based Coffee & Chocolate Chip Paleta from this place: Well, all I can say is that if you are a true java lover, I just can't imagine liking this. I love the robust, bold flavor of coffee and this was more sweet than anything else. Plus it had an icy, grainy texture, which really tipped it over into this is so not worth the $$$ territory for me. Recently, I rediscovered Paleteria Fernandez up in Port Chester. While I think they strive to avoid artificial additives, am not sure this is consistent with every single pop flavor they produce, as with here. But man, their Milk-Based Coffee Paleta is Haagen Dazs worthy creamy and the java flavor shines through. And ultimately, isn't that what it's all about? Plus the Paletas at Fernandez are half the price, albeit far less convenient. But I digress. Back to this spot, it's tiny and located on a very desolate stretch in Red Hook, which may explain the lack of Yelp reviews. And I recall trying to stop in last summer and it wasn't open during its posted hours. So not sure what was up with that. But anyway, I can now check this off my mental list of places to try, though I doubt I'll be back. ps I noticed in the freezer that they also offer mini Paletas in more limited flavors in case you don't want to go all-in for a regular sized one. I believe they are $2.

4 hot and thirsty Yelpers was at the Hester Street Fair for the first time awaiting a fifth member to show up for a Chinatown dumpling (and miscellaneous whatever catches our fancy ) food crawl. The sun was shining brightly through the clouds directly onto our heads when I heard this. La Newyorkina $4 popsicle: Psst. Hey. Hey. You people look like you could cool off a bit. Eat me. Me: Err. No thanks. We have a dumpling crawl coming up. La Newyorkina $4 popsicle: But kiddo. Ours is no ordinary popsicles. It's homemade paletas. Mexican styled popsicles made from fresh fruit. EAT ME!!!! Me: Wow. Sounds interesting. Wish I could but we expect to eat lots of food. No room to spare. La Newyorkina $1baby popsicle: Eat us instead. We sacrifice ourselves for Papa. We are much smaller but like papa like son. I am baby Guava and this is baby avocado. Me: Ohh... baby avacado is so cute. Chomp. Lick. Chew. Pretty good. A little bit too icy with frozen ice crystals but pretty tasty. Just slightly sweetened enough to give it extra flavor but not too sweet to the point where it overpowers the natural fruit ingredients . The popsicles in People's Pops is tastier, smoother, and have chunks of fruits within but still not bad. La Newyorkina $4 popsicle: Noooooooooo *sobs and melts from it's tears* ******************************************* I swear this happened and it wasn't the sun getting to me.

On this pretty and sunny Saturday with a light breeze took me to this neighborhood to explore and to eat some more. Went to the Hester Street Fair and walked around and saw this place, which had the cutest little popsicles ever. Because of it's miniature size, it's also good for children. I thought they would have more flavors, but they only had guava and avocado. The guy at the vendor said guava is light and avocado is creamier. I've never had avocado popsicle before, so that's what I got. It was creamy, but it was icy at the same time - pretty refreshing on a warm day. But according to their website, I think flavors vary weekly? Because I would love to try their spicy mango flavor and also the other flavors. For the mini it was $1 and for regular size it was $4. I thought they would have a shop somewhere, but after reading on their website I believe they don't have one, but they are at the Hester Street Fair every Saturday and Sunday from 10AM to 6PM.

There are different types of cold treats: gelatos and more slushie like consistency frozen confections that are served in a cup. My vegan friend appreciated that he could choose from multiple vegan flavors, not just be limited to the one and only offering, which is what most places usually have. Melon flavor was incredible. Tasted like frozen melon was crushed with ice and chopped into an ice/smoothie blend. Super refreshing. Very sweet, though. All flavors are very sweet, so a small portion can be shared and you will feel satisfied. I personally enjoyed their in-house special flavor of gelato: honey cream with crushed almonds, pistachios, and hazelnuts. That was bombastic! Love how nutty the consistency was. I love nuts, so this almost reminded me of a chunky peanut butter situation: just more fine grained and smooth, with gelato being the base. Highly recommend trying this flavor! Focacia was okay. A bit too dry and bland for my liking, but still decent. My favorite item was the pistachio bombolone which is officially now my favorite dessert. This was magnificent! The yeasty dough was so light and airy--perfectly light and balanced. The filling of pistachio cream was very delicate and not sweet at all, which was such a nice surprise. I do not like saccharine dessert. The fresh raspberry jam was a perfect balance to the pistachio cream. I never like jams in my desserts, but this was a perfect complement. Woooow, what a treat! Can't wait to return for it and to try more of their other flavors--hazelnut & chocolate, coconut, white chocolate, tiramisu. You could taste the superb quality of the ingredients. Highly recommend.

Don't remember what I had the previous 20+ years I went there after a group dinner. This time I was influenced & specifically took a bus over for their corn ice cream. It's STILL the summer of corn. Prices are now average - good for a scoop $7.50 & the portion is good compared to other craft ice cream shops in LES. The corn flavor was good. Medium flavor with that corn sweetness. The quality of the ice cream was excellent, medium creamy & very smooth with the teeniest bit of corn blended. Sampled the hazelnut which was great also - like a thick gelato. Would like to try the lychee next time. They have probably 20 different flavors, displayed well. The staff is patient & very nice. The space is very big for a business in the East Village with mostly a waiting area. 4-5 seats are up front & they set up a few plastic chairs on the side. On a 90°F day, the shop was filled with customers & groups. A stantion at the door with directions for 2 lines would help manage things better.
