My husband ordered a 7 mares and when he got it he noticed there like peaces of meat on it we told our waitress she was really nice about it but the female cook with white hair she came out and started arguing with us about it that she cooked it and she told us it wasnt meat it was canned tuna and caned salmon "fresh canned sea food" she was so upset even our waitress got upset and asked her to stop but she didnt cooked took all our appetite from us and we wont be coming back i must say service from out waitress was great read more

My parents discovered this place by accident and it has become our favorite place to eat in Reno. The restaurant is always clean and is decorated in a traditional Mexican theme. The music is pleasant and never too loud. We have had the pleasure of Andrea being our waitress and she is the absolute best and so is the rest of the staff. The food is absolutely amazing. The chorizo is very tasty and just slightly spicy, their Mexican coffee is flavorful, their carnitas are outstanding, I would give this place a ten if I could. read more

This place was an amazing find while we were staying at the Grand Sierra. The food was amazingly fresh and homemade. Includes delicious authentic food as well as American favorites for the kiddos. I came here for a brunch lunch. It was a nice little diner. Plenty of parking in the back. It's nice that they serve breakfast until 2:00. When I went it was not crowded at all. The waiters and servers were very nice. I had the American breakfast everything was pretty good. Kind of wish the country gravy was a little bit more flavorful it wasn't bad. You would never know from the outside what this place is like. It is warm and welcoming and appears very clean. There are 11 or so tables with about 7 seats at the bar. The tables range in size from 4 to 10 seats. We came for a late breakfast and they have quite a few great options. We each ordered different breakfast burritos. The burritos arrived in a timely fashion and were very tasty. The beans and potatoes were not that warm but still good. They are open 7 days a week, have daily specials, a full bar and happy hour. I'm a huge food snob when it comes to authentic Mexican food. We've had a heck of a time finding a good spot since we relocated from Los Angeles. In LA you can throw a rock and hit an excellent mom n pop place. Stopping in at La Parada was a fluke - we were in the area and needed to eat fast. Being in a hurry I asked for recommendations. To my great surprise I absolutely fell in love with the chilaquiles! So much in fact, I order them everywhere I go. Sadly, none are as good as here. The refried beans were cooked to perfection. Just like "mama" use to make. Chips were fresh & even the bread tasted freshly baked. Our first visit, our servers mom came out to ask if I enjoyed her food. Really sweet bunch of folks. First review of 2019, and La Parada deserves it! Visited Reno for 2 nights. This place was amazing. Right when you walk in, it feels homey, cozy, and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and you can tell it's family owned in the best way. After pre-scoping the yelp photos, I was 99% sure I wanted the huevos rancheros before I even saw the rest of the menu. After quickly skimming, I knew it was still the right choice, and boy was I right! Huevos rancheros: side of amazingly flavorful refried beans sprinkled with cheese; perfectly moist and not dry. Side of small cut potatoes that were perfectly cooked. The piece de resistance, the main "meat" of the dish was the ground beef enchiladas, topped with eggs your way (I chose over easy), pico, and some amazing homemade sauce that makes me drool just thinking about it. I want to go back now just to get it again. My bf had the a la carte tacos with a side of beans after tasting how good mine were. Didn't taste his dish as I was too preoccupied with mine, but his tacos looked authentic and delicious. Also noted that they have amazing breakfast and lunch special prices Monday through Friday; can't remember the specific times or prices, but less than $10 per plate. This place is REALLY GOOD, the kind of good that you'll remember for a long time, and talk about later. I was visiting Reno and was craving really authentic Mexican food before I went back home. We looked up all the best places that we're close on Yelp and Google and decided to go Carlillo's Cantina based on the overwhelming reviews at such a high mark. We woke up in the morning on Sunday excited to go enjoy a 5 star restaurant, but when we hopped in the car, ready to leave, we Googled the restaurant for directions and it showed CLOSED. We were devastated, as my wife even skipped food the night before, in anticipation of getting some really good eats. SO...still craving really good Mexican food, look to Google again, and found La Parada! La Parada was AMAZING! I ordered a Carne Asada Burrito AND a two enchilada plate, and both dishes were great, but the burrito definitely topped it all. It had a perfectly crisp homemade tortilla, and everything tasted just right. My wife said it was the best Menudo she had since being a child having her Grandmother's...and she's had a lot of Menudo since then! I said "oh I'm sorry I didn't know you guys still required that" she came back with "Well obviously you can see that we are busy" with her hands up then slapped down on the podium. It's a busy weekend and we wouldn't have minded a wait. But we walked out after that. I will never recommend or go back again. Food Drink - Just water as I had my fill of coffee already, did not know I was going out for breakfast. Breakfast - Machaca burrito with shredded beef with home fries, and refried beans. We have been here before, for a UYE MBC, but never for lunch. They have a good size parking lot in the back with easy access to the restaurant. They have lunch specials, that start at 7.99 and several different combos. The lunch special is served with rice and beans. I ordered the Enchilada and taco. The taco was good, a small street size taco with chicken filling. I added green salsa to it an it gave it the kick I was looking for. The Enchiladas was covered in red Enchilada sauce with chicken filling. It is a tasty meal for cheap. We both had water and the bill came to 16.00 dollars. Definitely will be back. read more

The service is AMAZING, but the food.... the food is to die for. I had the quesa-birra taco combo and it was delicious. They double wrap them and melt cheese between the two tortillas (talk about a cheese pull). My boyfriend had their carne asada burrito. The meat was very flavorful and not fatty and the tortilla was chewy but crispy on the outside. If I lived in Reno this would be my go-to spot!
