What drew me to this place was the amount of guacamole they top their tacos with as I can never have enough. Arriving before they opened at 4pm and there was already a line of people waiting to order under the tent. After ordering, you bring your ticket to the truck for pickup so if you have two people, the second can go pick out your sauces, lime, etc. from the generous condiments bar. Generous in terms of the variety but also in terms of how much you can use as i noticed a neighboring table had 10 solo cups worth as he poured over every bite of his burrito. Tacos done right! Came around 9pm on a Saturday and it was still pretty popping which says a lot. I got two of the quesatacos, one campechano which is a mix of chorizo and asada and one al pastor. You order inside the tent then take your ticket to the truck where they make your food fresh. The tortillas they use for these tacos are unreal! Handmade and you can taste the corn and I wanted to order a dozen tortillas just to have at home. The tacos were delicious with a good amount of filling and toppings. I also got an agua de piña that I could tasted the pineapple pulp so I knew that was made from scratch as well. I've been coming to La Parrilla Loca for years, and it has consistently served the best Tijuana-style tacos in the Bay Area. If you haven't had them before, Tijuana-style tacos are typically cooked over an open flame, served on slightly crispy handmade corn tortillas, and topped simply with fresh salsa, onions, and cilantro. When they're done right, the combination of charred meat, warm tortillas, and fresh toppings creates something really special. Unfortunately, the experience has changed a bit. The city made them take down their outdoor grill, so you no longer get that cloud of smoke and the smell of sizzling meat drawing you in from down the street. That was a big part of the atmosphere. Even so, the food is still excellent. My go-to tacos are the carne asada and the chorizo. The meat is always cooked just right, the tortillas have the perfect texture, and the toppings bring everything together. But I have to admit, it felt a little sad on my last visit. Thought I finally give this Taco Truck a tried. But not about to pay an extra 4% for using a debt card, never been to a place that's sell food that charges a card fee, let alone at a 4% rate. These tacos hit so hard. I truly believe they're some of the best in the bay. The meat here is tender, juicy, smoky, and stacked in each taco. I prefer the asada here (I usually go for pastor). My friend and her boyfriend have been obsessed with the burritos from La Parrilla Loca for a while now and she mentions it pretty often when I see her. She said her boyfriend "would write love letters to their pastor if he could." With a review like that, I knew I had to visit this place. My boyfriend and I were craving some good Mexican food after our Asia trip and this place immediately came to mind. We were looking for something lighter since we weren't too hungry so we opted for their tacos. We each got 3 tacos each with hot salsa (2 pastor and 1 asada) which were around $4 each and 1 medium fresa Aqua Fresca which was $6. They were out of lengua unfortunately. We ordered at the cashier in the tent first and then handed our ticket to the worker taco truck. I like that they provided sides in the tent for customers to grab as needed like grilled onions, limes, cucumbers, jalapeños, and salsa. We waited about 10 minutes for our food to come out once we gave it to the truck. We tried our aqua Fresca first since they serve it as you pay for the food. The strawberry aqua Fresca was pretty sweet. It had sort of a strawberry preserve flavor, less so of a fresh strawberry flavor. I kind of wish it was more fresh, but it was still pretty refreshing because of the ice and it honestly saved me when I was dying of spice from the jalapeño I decided to eat on it's own. We tried the pastor taco next. It was so B O M B. If I could describe perfection in a taco, it would be this one. Loved how tendor, flavorful, and juicy the pastor was and the hot and mild salsa and guac kept the taco moist and divine. My only wish is that the tacos would be slightly bigger. I had the asada taco, which was just okay to me. I liked how the steak was tender, but it didn't have too much flavor. But the taco was honestly still good from just the guac, salsa, onions, and cilantro. I'm already thinking about my next trip here. Wow. Listen. I'm a hater. I'm a LA native who's been in East Bay for a while and never enjoyed any Mexican food I've had here. (South Bay is a different story though, shout-out to East San Jose!). But after going here this weekend, I think I can finally say there's something similar to Mexican food in LA. The pastor on the spit was the first good sign. I decided to brave the streets of Oakland on by way to pick-up someone from the Oakland Airport. I have been craving some good street tacos for awhile and saw that it was going to be a slight 5 minute detour. I ordered two Al Pastor Tacos with everything and an Al Pastor Vampiros since I had never had one before. The taco was flavorful, the single tortilla tasted homemade, it came with onions, cilantro, tasty Al Pastor and guacamole. For some reason the meat seemed a little oily but overall a great taco. The Vampiros came with two street taco sized fried tortillas, onions cilantro, I chose green salsa, guacamole and cheese. I loved the blended flavors of all of the ingredients. Although the area looks a little sketchy it looks relatively safe during day light. I parked on the next block and did a very brisk walk. I plan to go there again, get Al pastor to see if it is normally oily and some Carne Asada. I definitely got my taco fix. It's been a year since I moved to Oakland and have been searching on and off for good Mexican street food. I'm glad I found La Parilla Loca! They even serve handmade tortillas!! Price wasn't super expensive, it was actually quite reasonable for 3 tacos, 2 burritos, and a quesadilla it was $58.14. The salsa bar was clean and so were the tables. This is my first time finding Mexican food cooked on charcoal in the bay! I was so excited to find this spot. You order at the taco truck and make your way to the chefs to get your tacos made. The tacos are all hand pressed and the smokiness from the charcoal makes a huge difference. The Al pastor is cooked on a trompo. However, they don't slice it thin like they do at Leo's in LA, seems more for show. The carne asada needs some more seasoning. The salsas definitely need some salt as they were kinda bland. These were the best tacos I've ever had! Highly recommend trying the cabeza and azada tacos. The pastor had good flavour but was a tad too salty for us. For meats, you can choose from azada, pastor, pollo, chorizo, and cabeza. All tacos are topped with onion, cilantro, guacamole, and your choice of either hot or mild sauce. You can also get grilled onions and grilled jalapeños on the side, just ask. We also got horchata which was really good and creamy. Lines will be long, but it's worth the wait! This is a great spot for late night eats! The are open past 10pm, take Venmo or cash and are little pricey, but definitely worth it! You purchase inside the gate under the tent, then take your ticket to the food truck window. I got 5 tacos and a Pepino Agua Fresca and spent around $30. They did forget one of my tacos, so I had to go back for it, but they gladly made me very quickly and I was a happy camper. I got green sauce on mine and ate every single one of them. They were so delicious! There's lots of lights around the area and plenty of parking behind the truck, and in front of it. The tunnel connecting San Leandro to Oakland where Blvd meets Street is a tunnel I dread. I hold my breath not to make a wish but out of anxiety -- it's tight, cars zoom like my excited dog wanting to play fetch, and at times, ridden with trash. But like any tunnel, there's always light at the end of it. In this case, it's La Parilla Loca. Yes there may be potholes along that way that you must dodge, but fear not for the journey is well worth it. La Parilla Loca is situated on the corner of San Leandro and Prune Streets. You'll be greeted with an all white trailer with their logo adorned on the face of it. That's where you must go to first place your order. They have 4 meat options to choose from but the stars are their asada and pastor. The asada is flavored nicely with the mesquite smoke shining through adding an extra element of flavor. The pastor is complimented with the sweet and tang from the pineapple juice dripping down on the spit/trompo of pork. Absolutely divine. Now, what really makes this place shine is their handmade tortillas. They press and grill it up right in front of you and the consistency isn't too thick or heavy like some. The tacos also come loaded with guac. We Californians love our avocado and they, my friends, do not skimp. Chipotle needs to learn a thing or two from them I must say. Price wise, extremely reasonable for fresh, quality tacos. At $3.50 a piece with avo, it can't be beat. read more

I think we all owe thanks to the damn city for sticking their nose where it doesn't belong OR that damn someone that complained to the city. They no longer make food in the side walk with charcoal which gives the food a much better taste. Now it's all propane which makes food good but not as good as it used to be when cooked with charcoal. Customers didn't like the change so now it's not as busy like it used to be. Very good tacos with a handmade tortillas. Their al pastor was crispy and well seasoned and I really enjoyed their cucumber agua fresca. The line is a lil long here and they have a system where you order under the tent where the seating is, then bring your ticket outside to the truck. One of the best tacos I found in the East Bay. We were on our way to another taco place located on International but I saw a crowd at THIS stand. I was awestruck and came here instead. Make sure to order first with the white truck and get your slip, then line up for the actual goodness at the assembly line. First off, they make their corn tortilla fresh in house and it's so soft. Instead of using double tortilla in other tacos place for layering, they use one and it holds everything. Don't have to worry about it breaking! Then, you see the quality in their meats. They have a charcoal grill that constantly cooks their perfectly marinated asada. Their al pastor was so juicy and flavorful. Albeit, a bit heavy, but those oil and juices are essences. The quesatacos has pull apart cheesiness. They load your tacos with meat, salsa sauces (green and red), and guac. Lastly, don't forget to add a few grilled jalapeños and grilled onions! There was a big line but it it was not too bad about a 30 minute wait. One line to order then another to pick up. We got the super burritos they were huge. I was craving some tacos and so glad I went to this place. They open at 4pm and I came 15 mins later and there was a line already. You start by placing your orders at the truck, then waited in line for the orders to be ready. They grill their meat in front of you so something to watch while waiting. Each taco was loaded with meat, topped with onions, cilantro, and guacamole. Their salsa was also fire, so spicy! And the fact that they made their tortillas fresh on the spot elevated the tacos even more. You order at the food truck and then go over and wait in line and hand the cooks your receipt and they prepare the tacos right in front of you. All the meat is super good.
