Went on a Saturday afternoon and got a 6 pack of their macarons. They were best I've had in Austin! They were fresh, flakey, light and busting with flavor! I got the Rose, grapefruit, lavender, Earl Gary, Orange Heaven and lemon. Each macaron I could vividly taste the flavor they were going for. They were all good, but my favorite were the grapefruit and lemon. The macarons felt a bit too sweet and are pricey, hence removing one star. There is plenty of street parking in the neighborhood near by and the ambience is very small cute place. Girl at the front was kind. Definitely check this place out for macarons! A perfect Saturday alternative to a loud and busy business on Saturday morning and afternoon such as nearby Swedish Hill across Annie at S 1st, or Proud Mary on Lamar or any of the other increasingly busy brunch and coffee spots in South Austin. I stumbled upon this place completely by accident the week they opened--no joke. It immediately became one of my favorite spots in all of Austin and, all these many years later, I keep going back every chance I get. I live for the viennoiserie menu. If I'm feeling classic, the pain au chocolat hits every time: flaky, buttery, perfectly rich. When I'm craving full-blown South Austinite flair, un Crobrios, s'il vous plaît (croissant + brioche = yes). The desserts and cakes are decadent without being fussy and never fail to impress anyone I share them with. And yeah, sometimes I channel my inner basic bitch and grab a macaron or two--but no regrets. Inside, it's cozy and charming--my preference, since I'm personally averse to bugs and any temperature more than 5 degrees off 65º. But the outdoor seating is lovely too if that's your thing. They even have a drive-thru that I've never used, but honestly... you should just park, slow down and enjoy it for what it is. It's all fabulous, and uniquely Austin. read more

We stopped by here from our tour with Cliff (Best of Austin small group tour-highly recommend!). The macarons were delicious! And a bunch of us ordered more to bring home. The CUTEST French bakery. We got the BOGO croissant & cinnamon sugar muffin, as well as two macarons. The lady behind the counter was literally the most kind and gave us good suggestions on ffe rent murals to see around Austin after we told her we were mural searching. The croissant was, and I kid you not, the most delicious croissant I've ever had. It was about an hour before close, so I know they were from the morning, but it was still the best croissant ever. The butter was slightly sweet on top, and the insides were so so perfect. Crispy on the outside, perfection on the inside- it was delicious! We sat outside on the high top table nearest the front door, and we really enjoyed ourselves with the perfect spring weather. We would LOVE to return! read more

La Patisserie is conveniently located to the left of the famous Greetings From Austin Mural sign. My initial plans were to stop by the mural to take a quick picture and walk to my next destination. Given that Austin was in the triple digits, it was only best to grab a drink for the road. I ordered a hibiscus tea and a salted caramel macaron. I got the last of the pre-made tea (as they ran out.. hence my cup not fully filled) and it was pretty watered down. However, I was super thirsty and chugged it. As for the macaron, I'm not a huge fan of them but have to say the salted caramel was delightfully yummy. It had the perfect flavor in the inside and slight crisp on the outside - very well baked. Cute little shop - has a great selection of macarons and drinks plus there's seating indoors and outdoors if you want to lounge. Definitely a great pit stop when visiting the mural - highly recommend! read more

What a cute little house-turned-bakery near the mural! I thought this spot was so great. The macarons were so well done and the variety of flavors was really pleasant. You also get a free macaron with a purchase of a certain amount if you check-in and the person working was nice enough to just give it to us after we checked out since we didn't realize it until much later! Not pictured was also the wild strawberry macaron we tried, which was really delicious. Honestly, all their macarons were fantastic - I think if I had to pick one that was my favorite, it'd be the honey lemon, but they were each delicious and unique in their own way! Will not go back! I have a $50 giftcard that I received and they would not honor it because they said they changed ownership. However, they are still operating as if they are the same business with the same logo and business name. Then I asked if I could talk to a manager and then they made me wait 20 minutes then said they were too busy to talk to me and had me leave my name and number on a napkin with a dry erase expo marker. Granted it is very sweet but the filling was so spectacular- and plentiful! I loved it! Was big enough to share!! Also the location is right next to the famous Austin mural so if you go there you have an instagrammable spot right away... not to mention that the patisserie itself is suuuuper pink and cute! Love, love, loved this lil coffee shop. All thanks to cool painted Austin mural/post card. It's a few steps away from the landmark. It looks like it was an old house converted into a coffeehouse/dessert place. The coffee is of course delicious, and the desserts looked scrumptious. We ordered some macaroons and were not disappointed. My only complaint was that I wanted a French press coffee but it was shut down for the day when we visited. Besides that we had a great time. Nice spot for coffee and a dessert; they have a shaded patio outside and are right off of 1st street so you can people watch a bit as they go to the famous Austin sign. They also have a drive-through if you don't want to go inside. They have a pretty good selection of different kinds of French pastries, including beignets, which we were excited about since we're going to NOLA soon. I ordered an iced chai latte, vanilla latte, and a cream puff at both of their locations. Honestly, their coffee is pretty mediocre. They don't use house-made syrup, so everything tastes generic. Their employees are really nice, which I appreciate. I wasn't the biggest fan of my cream puff, either. It was almost a bit too hard and sweet. It's definitely a really cute pastry shop, but I personally wasn't a fan. They had a sign on the door stating they are closed until 3pm due to repairs. A group of people were sitting outside. They saw us outside but at 3pm nothing happened. I went up to the door to ask if they are open and they let us in. It would have been nice if they had at least come out and acknowledged that we sat and waited. Absolutely no customer service and the maroons were stale tasting as if they were old. The outside is cute. Sort of reminds you of Alice And Wonderland's tea party. Preface for this reviews is I'm a pastries nob. Measuring cities for its pastries quality has been my long time guilty pleasure. I live in Hanoi, where there is a huge influence of French cuisine and a strong presence of France-educated or French pastries chef in general so I am sure I have a good grip of what good French pastries and sweet delicacies should be. I have also had Laduree in France several times and have used that as a measuring stick because unfortunately, I haven't tasted better macarons else where. I am really curious about how Austin fare to these places that I have tried and decided to get two macarons from La Patiserrie. La Patiserrie is a cute shop with pink walls and playful paintings outside. They sell some viennoiseries (croissants, pain au chocolat, may be kouign amann) but was sold out when I visited. No big deal, I got the lemon and caramel macarons. They look cute, but were too sweet for my liking. They had a tougher and dry-crunchy exterior, not the crunch but still soft and moist inside. The most overpowering flavor is the white sugar. I wish there was less sugar and more fresh fruit jam or filling. read more

I have been to Paris many times and these do not fit the bill in any way shape or form. If you want something close to the real thing, head over to Elizabeth Street Cafe for their offerings as they get theirs from Swedish Hill. I also purchased a slice of vanilla bean cake and it was so dry, I threw it away after 2 bites. Popped in on a Sunday mid-day and they still had a nice selection of pastries. The location is a sweet little house with parking in the back that opens back up to the street so you can easily get out. We tried a chocolate croissant and a beignet - very reasonable priced for a pastry shop! The chocolate croissant had 2 lines of chocolate all the way down and a nice crunch on the ends. Could have been a bit flakier, but a definite step above like a Starbucks one. The beignet was good - it's hard to make them taste as good if they're not straight out of the fryer.
