Pick 2 grilled chicken & chicken enchilada with rice and no beans
Pam R.

We are visiting Palm Springs from the east coast. We were all looking forward to delicious Mexican food. La Perlita was ok. The chicken was not so good. The dishes were very bland. The space is an odd shape. Our table was right near the kitchen.

Interior

Had just arrived in Palm Springs, and needed to find a spot for dinner. La Perlita is located in a strip center, but the interior of the restaurant is pleasantly decorated, and the staff is very friendly. The chips and salsa were different than what we typically find in Mexican restaurants - the chips are smaller and very crunchy, almost like kettle chips, and the salsa is very thin. But they were delicious! Our meals came out quickly, and we devoured them. This is definitely a hidden gem in Palm Springs!

Combo with chicken enchilada, crunchy beef taco and Chile relleno.
Ann R.

We visit the Palm Springs area every winter and like to find a good Mexican restaurant each time. Decided on La Perlita and we were not disappointed. Tucked away at the end of a small strip mall the parking was free and easy. The interior was clean and the booths were comfortable. Chips were fresh and crispy and the salsa was more blended, not like a pico de gallo. The three item combo was a tasty sampling since I was indecisive. The chicken enchilada and beef crunchy taco were flavorful but the chile relleno was the standout, definitely worth the $2 up charge. The staff was attentive and very friendly, especially Ivàn. Give this place a try!

Excellent Family owned business. All the different menu categories are covered. Service is good and food prepared quickly. Excellent Cadillac Margarita You won't be disappointed.

totally amazing! the service was great and the food was fresh and fabulous! the tomatoes and lettuce tasted like they just picked them out of a garden! can't get fresher than that! the basket of chips were crunchy and tasted new! the salsa was spicy but not too spicy! the main course presentation was great! had a three item combo plate and it was all good! three people cost less than $100 before tip. we'll be back! thanks!

Very nice staff, very attentive and quick service. Refreshing beverages (horchata and Jamaica), staff was attentive with refills and checking up on our meals. Great music, clean atmosphere, beautiful art displayed, huge menu.

This says it all: 2 Chile Rellenos and a Tamale!

Food and service is so good it justifies the annoying TV. Chile Rellenos are the area's best!

This meant Marilyns everywhere, including the waiters, which made the experience that much more fun. Aside from that, we had made reservations ahead of time thankfully, because it was BUSY. But we were sat just as soon as we had arrived, and despite it being very hot out at the time, they had a bunch of shaded spots with misting fans. The drinks were fantastic, including mine which was a zero-proof mocktail. We all ordered different chicken dishes, and each one received high praise. I was able to try each of them and I was very happy with my fajitas, but I gotta give the nachos their dues. They were just as good. Chips were crispy all the way through, and not one was soggy from all the ingredients. Loved it, will definitely be back when I visit again. Id also like to mention that we chose this place as my friend's Bachelor Party closing dinner, and he couldn't have been happier. He was so thrilled with how the weekend had gone, that dining at Clandestino's really was the cherry on top. Thank you for making our dining experience such a pleasant one.

We stopped by around 3 p.m. on a Wednesday and sat at the bar. It wasn't too busy, which made for a relaxing experience. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. For food, we ordered the fish ceviche, taquitos dorados, and the birria tacos. They definitely don't skimp on the portions. Everything is generously sized and perfect for sharing. I especially loved the salsa that came with the taquitos dorados, and the birria was incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The birria tacos and taquito dorados were easily my favorite and something I'd absolutely order again. Of course, I had to try a few of their margaritas! I sampled the Classic Felipe, Jamaica, and Guava margaritas. The guava margarita was hands down my favorite. Overall, it's a great spot with delicious food, refreshing drinks, generous portions, and excellent happy hour deals. Be sure to check out their happy hour menu, you won't be disappointed!

Very fresh ingredients with generous portion of shrimp. This was my favorite item we ordered! Tacolgado were mini quesabirria tacos that was perfectly sized to share. This was really good! Then we also ordered the chicken flautas that was really good! The chicken breast was perfectly seasoned and moist but the fried tortilla was not soggy at all. This was so good! The kids enjoyed this the most. Especially the cotija !! So so good. Wednesdays are 50% off their margaritas which I wasn't able to try but next time, I will! The ladies next to us ordered a few and I overheard how they were all good! The restaurant is family friendly, clean and decor was very cute! Service was very attentive and the servers were very quick. We enjoyed our 1st time and definitely plan to come back!

The green sauce tasted authentic and finally a spot that stuffs the chicken in the tortilla. At times some places skimp on the filling I had the steak nachos with everything. What drew me to this place was their carne asada plate, which comes with a generous portion of steak and all of the fixings to make your own bites. The flavors were great and the dish was as impressive as the pictures suggested. What really impressed me though was the octopus ceviche. Not only was it delightfully fresh and flavorful, the portion size was comically large which made it a great value. In fact, all of their dishes are generously portioned and can easily be shared. The restaurant consists of mostly patio seating which makes for a nice setting, but it can get a bit hot on a scorching palm springs day. But there's not a lot to complain about when sipping on a delicious tamarindo margarita while constructing the perfect taco.

Another staff member then provided a side of salsa and it looked strange so we opened it while we were still there and it was partially eaten & had broken off tortilla chips inside of the salsa container & areas you could see where someone had been scooping salsa with chips. The only positive is the decor,it's nice and has a cool Polynesian/mid-century vibe. That's where anything good ends. The service was terrible. We asked about specials as first-time customers, and our waitress conveniently failed to mention the Taco Tuesday deal. Instead, she rushed us to order. We later realized we ordered multiple taco plates that should have qualified for the special, but she never said a word. The food was even worse. I ordered fajitas, and what I was served was completely unacceptable,no vegetables, no resemblance to fajitas, just chopped chicken covered in chorizo and tomato sauce. It was disgusting. I took one bite and couldn't eat it. I planned to send it back, but the waitress disappeared and never came back to the table. I was stuck with it and only ate the sides, which tasted like reheated frozen vegetables and a small cup of beans. Despite barely touching the food and not receiving what I ordered, I was still charged as if everything was fine, about $22 for a plate I couldn't eat. When I finally addressed it, she insisted it was "fajitas," which is honestly ridiculous. To top it off, when my husband asked for a box, the waitress came back after handling cash and used her bare hands, with long acrylic nails,to grab his taco and put it in the container. That is completely unsanitary and unacceptable. Bad service, disgusting food, and poor hygiene. I will not be returning and will be reporting this place to the health department. Avoid this place. Warning Positive reviews are obviously coming from ownership friends.
