I also ordered their House Margarita which was actually delicious and a lot of kick to it. Their complimentary chips and salsa were so good, we decided to order another one for take out. First time ordering extra chips and salsa, ever! The place was nice and cozy. Felt relaxed and not rushed ordering. Our server gave us enough time to decide what to order. Other staffs were friendly as well. Only thing is they should be consistent with the pricing. One of the servers mentioned that the salsa and chips were $3.50; however we were charge $5. If you're strolling through quaint downtown Palm Springs, do yourself a favor and eat at Maracas! We loved the cozy Spanish decor, the warm atmosphere, and the option for indoor or outdoor seating, we chose inside and it felt charming and inviting from the moment we walked in. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was SO good. I ordered the combination platter with a crispy steak taco and the cheesiest enchilada imaginable... absolutely delicious. We also tried the open-face enchiladas loaded with avocado and generous portions that did not disappoint. But the real star? The salsa. There's outdoor and indoor seating and we sat outdoors which wasn't the most fun since it was windy and it's right next to the road with cars roaring by. During happy hour on a Tuesday evening, there were just a handful of customers. They serve burritos, tacos, chimichangas, enchiladas, and a few other things. Some of the dishes felt like they were missing an element like guacamole that would have pulled it together. Their dishes run between $17-25. Of the dishes we tried, the chicken fajita was good but nothing too special, the vegetarian burrito and vegetarian enchilada were also solid choices. It was nice that they had a few dedicated vegetarian dishes to choose from, as well as some vegan ones. The beef chimichanga was okay, but the corn cake seemed to be the best thing on the plate. They give the table tortilla chips and salsa complimentary. Many servers were milling around and they were relatively nice when they did come around, but they should have been more attentive to the table. No water refills either. UPDATE: Prices on the menu reflect a 3% surcharge for credit card purchases BUT if you pay cash, you should get a discount on the receipt. We got the check after awhile and we gathered our cash but no one came or told us this was the policy. It's another reflection of staff not communicating properly and as a result, us overpaying. It was noted on the menu but you can't expect customers to remember all these details. There are many eateries to choose from in this busy Palm Springs thoroughfare so you can likely find something more refined, unique and nice. Parking lot out back was great and you get 3 hours. We love Maracas. The service is always friendly and the food is tasty. We like sitting at the bar enjoying our ICE COLD BEER on tap. I had the street fish taco plate tonight and it was great. Grilled Mahi with chipotle sauce on the side. A friend enjoyed the vegetarian taco salad which had lots of black beans and fresh vegetables. This was my first time being at this restaurant after living in Palm Springs for a couple years. We decided to check it out because there wasn't a wait and it was a busy night in downtown Palm Springs. I took my mom and my boyfriend here for dinner, and we both all agreed it was not very good. The seafood salad was not very flavorful, the chicken chimichanga was very basic and my mom had chicken tacos and she agreed was not very good as well. We wouldn't be coming back here as well as the service was lacking. We only had our waters given to us once and never refilled again and we were completely out. I understand after reading the reviews here. I just don't think this restaurant is well managed. We did agree it looks like many people were getting alcoholic drinks that looked very good so maybe that is what most people go for here. read more

Maracas is a well-polished Mexican food restaurant. The menu and layout are professionally done. As you can see by the pics, there is indoor and outside seating. The whole restaurant is southwestern design with the appropriate music. This location is suited perfectly for visitors due to its central location and prominent street location for people watching. We started with the chips and salsa, see my pic. The chips were okay, and the salsa had the right amount of heat to be zesty without being overpowering. As you can see in my taco's pic, these are good sized tacos. The shells were nicely crunchy and were easy to eat from their taco stands. The meats were flavorful with the right amount of Mexican spices and the toppings were fresh. Also from my pic, you can see this is the right size for their Grande Burrito (for my taste, they were a bit skimpy on the ranchero sauce). The pork carnitas was flavorful and plentiful. For being there at 4:30 we still got a seat and a good one outside. Waitperson was very quick to get drink orders and drop menus. I really don't drink so I had no complaints about my ice Tea. Our friends thought their margaritas were pretty weak. I understand when your outside the help forgets about you but 20 minutes and no return we were getting ready to leave when we got our orders in. Located on one of the main drags in downtown Palm Springs. Entry includes both outside seating as well as inside. Inside options include tables and at the bar. Seating was easy and the server was right on with everything. I had the veggie enchiladas served with black beans and white rice, a little departure from what you usually find in a Mexican restaurant which is often refried beans and Spanish rice. The food is delicious and my enchiladas were made to perfection. The only detraction was the amount of cheese they put on top which was way too much for me. Easily remedied. We brought our out of town visitor for lunch at our all time favorite Mexican Restaurant. Our lunch (we all had the same item) the taco salad was perfect. No photos I'm afraid only because we were all so hungry and the salad was delicious . Billfred, our server, is always so professional, kind, friendly and courteous. It's always nice to see him. We recently visited Maracas in Palm Springs as a group of seven (two parties, two separate checks -- one with three people and one with four). When we arrived, our waiter, Jose, greeted us. We mentioned that we were waiting a few minutes for one more person but went ahead and ordered children's food and drinks. When one of the adults left briefly to move the car, the waiter never returned. The children's food arrived, but 15 minutes later, when the man came back, I told the waiter we had been waiting to order drinks. He responded, "Oh, I was waiting for the man." I explained that I had been ready to order the whole time. He finally took our drink and food order -- a pitcher of margaritas, two candy shots, a beer for my husband, plus meals for four adults. The drinks came fairly quickly, and our food followed, except for the fajitas, which took about 15 more minutes with no acknowledgment or update from the staff. The two shots, however, took over 30 minutes and only arrived after I reminded our waiter again. Throughout our meal, we noticed our waiter was very attentive to other tables -- all of which happened to have white patrons -- while our table, surrounded by families with children, was often ignored. It was hard not to feel a sense of discrimination in how we were treated. When the check arrived, we noticed an automatic gratuity had already been added to our bill, likely because we were a party of six. That explained a lot -- the lack of attention and care we received. Overall, this experience was disappointing. The food itself was decent, but the service and lack of respect made it clear we won't be returning. read more

For margs, Maracas can pretty much do any kind of fruit, including banana margaritas (blended or on the rocks for all). Vegetable enchiladas, impossible enchiladas, crispy impossible tacos and veggie burrito are all calling my name for my next visit. Additionally there is a small kids menu, postres such as flan, fried ice cream y por supuesto, cake!! The bebidas range from aqua frescas to iced tea, coffee, soda pops and horchata...And a full bar! My husband had the drunken salmon, I had a torta sandwich with carne asada and the heuvos rancheros, and our daughter had the sopas. Service was okay. We never had our water refilled, and our waiter didn't really check up on us. We opted for outdoor dining as it was a nice day. The food simply didn't meet the expectations we had for the simple dishes we ordered. I did have the cheeses removed from my torta and the huevos rancheros, and it all tasted dry.
