There's alway places that you've walked by loads of times but never gave it a second thought. I've seen this place pretty much everytime when walking along the main strip. Palm Springs has a night market that happens Thursday night from 6-10 where it brings out people. Food vendors, arts and crafts, gifts and so on. A nice family outing on the main strip. Also all the storefronts are open as well. The thing with something like that, you tend to stand or find a seat along the curb to sit with your food. Hence we finally walked into this restaurant. It was pretty busy when we walked in but at the right time. Got seated right away as there was only two tables available. By the time we were seated, the line was pretty long. It's just off the main strip. Pretty decent size patio which seems to be where everyone was utilizing it as it was nice out. There's a bar area with seating as well as indoor, a smaller room. Service was nice. Water and menu was brought out first then came the chips and salsas. Quite tasty but can be filling if you can't control yourself. Started off with their classic margaritas and the spicy margaritas. There's a few dollars difference from classic to spicy. They weren't that bad. Menu wise, a mixture of all your Mexican dishes. We didn't have any starters as we just wanted the mains. The carne asada plate which came with both rice and beans. I opted for only rice. Thin skirt steak with chorizo, grilled jalapeño and onion, flour or corn tortillas and salsa. And the chicken enchiladas verde with the green sauce. The food was quite tasty. Carne asada plate was pretty plentiful. Nice skirt steak with a nice piece of chorizo. Both were quite tasty and flavorful. Steak was decent and cooked well. Not overly done. Then you have the enchiladas. It's decent in size but not too big. It's good if you're not too hungry. The sauce was great and was a perfect pair to the dish. As it was our first time, it was great. All these place that's been there but you walk by loads of time. Sometimes you just have to try new places out and see what comes of it. Maybe it's a hit. I was really disappointed with the service and overall experience. First, we were never offered water or refills, which set the tone right away. Both my husband and I ordered shrimp tacos. I don't eat meat, so I always choose fish or shrimp as alternatives. The first two tacos I received (fish and shrimp) actually had beef in them. I sent them back and clearly explained that I do not eat meat. I then reordered shrimp tacos and specifically told the waitress again about my dietary restriction. Unfortunately, the second batch came with bacon. While yes, I could have read every ingredient more carefully, I would expect the staff to be more attentive and helpful--especially after I had already sent food back for the same issue. Instead, the waitress lectured me about not reading the menu, which felt inappropriate and unprofessional. On top of that, the tacos themselves were not good--overloaded with random ingredients and not at all enjoyable, especially for $23. I left feeling unwell and very dissatisfied. The strangest part of the experience was the hostess at the front. She appeared completely disengaged, staring off into the distance. I tried multiple times to get her attention for something as simple as a napkin or the check, waving while she was looking in my direction, but she didn't respond at all. Overall, poor service, lack of attention to dietary needs, and disappointing food. I wouldn't return. read more

This is an amazing restaurant sitting out on the patio was very cool. It's very colorful and has a beautiful tree with shade. We ordered the Molcajete. It came with chicken, Carne, Asada, chorizo, queso, and Napolis and Mariscos. The rice and beans portion were fairly small but confined with all the food. It was more than enough. The walled tree-filled patio and misters created a shaded space that was 10 to 15 degrees cooler than just being outside. Thank goodness!! The servers were helpful and efficient, no small talk. We ordered a strawberry walnut salad, steak quesadillas, and tacos gobernadors. The salsa that came out with the chips was just ok but the chips were fantastic. We didn't get offered more though when our bowl ran out. The salad was colorful, beautiful and delicious. The tacos were fantastic. The quesadilla was good but was so huge we had to take some to go. We also had Jamaica agua fresca. This is a Pepsi only spot for those of you Coca Cola lovers. The bathroom was Palm Springs mod and had a track of songbirds playing. It was really nice. Very good experience at this outdoor dining spot right next to downtown Palm Springs! Perfect for a visit before heading over to the Palm Springs Thursday night market! The ambiance here is modern and cozy, with lanterns illuminating the dining area and a good amount of heaters, helpful after the sun goes down. You are served chips with salsa the minute you sit down, and the salsa is quite impressive! Service was quick, even with a big group. We got several individual entrees and a molcajete, which was definitely the star of the show. First night in Palm Springs and this spot did not disappoint! My sister ordered the Mango Margarita, I had the Jamaica Margarita--both were super refreshing and packed with flavor. For food, I got the chile relleno with asada--so good! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned. My sister had the chipotle camarones, which had a great smoky kick, and we ordered the hard shell taquitos for my mom, which she loved. The service was amazing--both the host and our server were friendly and very attentive. The vibe is clean, modern, and aesthetically on point. I honestly just wanted to take a photo of the tacolgado to photo brag to my friends! We all ordered different things and they were all pretty good! I enjoyed my tacolgado which has mini birria tacos vibes and the cheese oozing off was so insta worthy. They accommodated my son's various food allergies and he ate his entire bowl of potato taquitos and now he has a new fave Mexican dish. The salsa was tasty but could have used some heat. Additionally the amount provided was too small for the amount of chips provided. My partner ordered the steak and chorizo tacos and thought the flavor was excellent. I ordered the shrimp tacos. The shrimp was cooked well and flavorful however the tacos had too much cheese which overpowered everything on it. Both our orders of tacos were also slightly soggy when we received them. The place was packed! We were seated outside on the patio, because it's in the name, haha. We quickly were served drinks and chips with salsa and it was delicious and we didn't event eat yet. I've been here in the past and it was good. I've never had an issue, but my friends that were with me always had some kinda of issue. Most of the time it was not getting their food or the wrong items. So this was finally payback time for me. It was service and food and I don't think I will comeback and my friends that came with me this time said it's the last for them too. I asked for water and never got it. I ordered a Watermelon Margarita and what I got was a very small cocktail, not Margarita. I made a comment about it and it went in one ear and out of the other. I also ordered Alambres with flour shells. Didn't get the shells. My order was very small and almost no cheese, no peppers or onions. Basically meat on a plate. So this experience was just bad!! Whenever we go out to Palm Springs, we always stop at El Patio. Whether it's for a drink or for dinner. I love their passion fruit margarita. It's delicious and hits the spot. The most recent time we visited, we ordered their shrimp ceviche, absolutely delicious. We would order it again! He ordered the surf and turf tacos and I had the filet topped with shrimp and octopus. This place is really cute, it's mostly outdoors with great decor and comfortable seating all around. I really wanted to like this place but had a few things happen that kind of ruined it for me. The wait staff was busy but for some reason wouldn't come into our section very often so we had to wait awhile to order and then over 30 minutes to get our food. It was a little awkward when we finally had to ask about our food. I ordered arrachera burrito but the meat was raw. Mexican food never has medium rare meat like this. Any other burrito place will always cook it well and they don't even ask how you want the meat, it was just chunks of raw beef which ruined the meal for me. I did have a pretty delicious tamarindo margarita which was the saving grace of this visit. read more

We also got an order of Guacamole Especial (no pork) to share for the table. The portion size was enough for the 8 of us and I really enjoyed the hunks of cheese.
