We heard live music and followed it to Las Casuelas Terraza. What a great outdoor dining and music venue. A huge patio dedicated to al fresco dining featuring Mexican cuisine. A large portion is covered, yet totally open. A stage sits off to the side. It looked as though all diners had a view of the band. I cannot speak to the food, drinks or service as we arrived rather late and the place was absolutely packed. No room at any tables, nor the bar. We decided to hang out for a song or two, then move on. We would like to return sometime and arrive earlier. We'd love to check out the menu, have a drink and enjoy some music. read more

This time, they weren't as friendly or welcoming at the entrance (the girls up there either seemed like they didn't get along or just weren't as friendly - ideally what you went when first entering an establishment). We originally got seated right next to a big party and it was only 2 of us. It felt weird so we did ask to move and sat outside instead. The server here was super nice. We have been coming here for years...every time we pass through town we stop here for lunch. This place is always a great choice for yummy Mexican food. The margaritas are strong and perfectly made. The fresh guacamole, crispy chips, and flavorful salsa are a must-order to start. The portions are huge, so most entrées are easily big enough to share. Service friendliness was 10/10, food quality does not match prices. Like many PS restaurants the prices are high and food is mid. $18-$25 for a margarita is insane. I wasn't told that it would be an issue extra $6 to get grilled chicken instead of shredded chicken, so that was upsetting. After a long day shopping at the Cabazon outlets, my best friend and I were starving. I used to eat at this restaurant decades ago, and I wanted to see if it was still as good as I remembered. First of all, I don't remember it being so dark inside. We couldn't even see the menu. We needed to use the flashlights on our phones. We both ordered a combination plate. We both ordered a Chile Relleno. I also ordered a Pork Chile Verde Burrito, and she also ordered an Enchilada. The complimentary chips and salsa were amazing. The chips were warm, and the salsa was perfect. We polished off the first basket, and the server brought us more. When my meal arrived and I tasted the rice, it tasted crunchy. I'm not sure if they put my dish under something to melt the cheese which caused the rice to be crunchy. I had a few more bites, hoping that all of the rice was crunchy. Unfortunately, all of it was crunchy. I told the server, who immediately brought me a huge plate of fresh rice. Interesting to see the lower reviews, because every time we've come here it's been a great experience. I went with the mole enchiladas this time. I usually stick with a more classic enchilada, but decided to switch it up and I'm glad I did. Really flavorful and well done. It's a great spot for families with kids, and they also have a solid drink selection. The location right on the main street in downtown Palm Springs is a big plus. March 2026 My wife, my mom, and I came here for our final dinner after 10 days traveling through San Diego, LA, and Palm Springs. My mom isn't usually a big fan of Mexican food, but we couldn't leave without one "Mexican night." We had walked past during the street market earlier in the week and the place was packed, so we knew we had to come back and try it. The building is absolutely beautiful. I was blown away by the size of the place there are so many different rooms, multiple bars, and the outdoor seating even had live music. It's a great vibe for a vacation send-off. I had a margarita which was pretty good, and the others enjoyed their iced teas. Mom had the beef tacos I was surprised she really enjoyed the meat, she didnt like the shell just at the inside, my wife had the carnitas, and I went with the chicken chimichanga. Everything was delicious, and the salsa had the perfect amount of kick. I'm normally not a guacamole fan, but I actually liked it here! Interestingly, I didn't care for the scoop on my plate, but the guacamole on my wife's plate was excellent I'd definitely order hers again. Service was not very good, took a long time to even get a server to stop at the table and then after ordering we didnt see a server had to ask other people for drink refills and of the check We had a wonderful time. Come for the atmosphere, come for the vibes. Even on a hot day they have the mist flowing on the patio. But seriously I love the whole design of the restaurant - that's worth a check out in my book. I would come back for that alone! The next best thing is the workers, we had a big party and they handled us with a smile and good humor! They made it fun. 700 pm, Monday, November 10, 2025 Hostess station very friendly. Here for the live band. They played covers, loved the music. Had to wait forever for busser to wipe down the table??? And then no utensils... I had to swipe them from the other table. The chips and salsa were very good, then adding the appetizer of chunky guacamole was super! Highly recommend this. The entrees were ordered but they took their time putting out the food! Over an hour, why? Because of the live band and dancing? After waiting for 40 or so minutes, date & I hit the dance floor for maybe 4 songs. We returned, still no food. Just baffled unless it was intentional? Food plates arrived, not piping hot. So, sitting for a while??? My carne asada burrito turned into a ground beef burrito! WTF... no sliced asada steak, no guacamole, no salsa included with the entree! What a rip off!!! Friends suggested meeting here for "Dutch treat" dinner ... and dancing. Quite frankly, we enjoyed the music and dancing on the patio, but the drinks, food, and service left a lot to be desired. When the best Mexican food in a Mexican restaurant is its chips & salsa, there's a lot wrong with it. That's what we experienced here. For example, I ordered a Combinacione with a Cheese Enchilada and Chile Relleno accompanied by Refried Beans & Rice (2/5 $20.95). It was bland ... and looked bland. The Ranchero sauce had no character ... didn't add anything to the dish. As for drinks, avoid the Jalapeno Scratch Margarita (1/5 $17.95) ‐- undrinkably sweet and the color of an Appletini -- and the Top Shelf Margarita (1/5 $17.95) -- tasted like soap, and I'm still looking for the tequila. While the flavor profile had potential, it was completely lost because the sauce was far too thick, drowning the dish and turning the tamales into a structural mush. Additionally, I asked for no rice and expected a standard substitution of extra beans; instead, I was only given a small single portion of beans. ​The service also left a lot to be desired. If you are short on time, skip this place. While our drinks came out quickly, the food took over 45 minutes to arrive. Our waiter took our order and completely disappeared, only returning at the very end to hand us the bill without ever checking in or offering refills. I am a Mexican food lover. I always say "even bad Mexican food is pretty good". However this food was not very good. We ordered the guacamole as an appetizer, it was weird. It had a strange taste, I'm guessing something they use to preserve it so they can made large batches ahead of time. My hubby and I both ordered a two item combo. I had the Colorado combo, the taco was ok, the burrito meat was the best thing of the day, beans were dry and reminded me of canned. My husband had the chili relleno and green burrito. He said the chili relleno was mediocre and the chili verde was lacking flavor. He covered it with hot sauce and ate it. Please ask for the hotter salsa, as the original is bland and lacks any heat. We ordered 2 chabelas, they were very good. The restaurant is nice and big, tables inside, outside (covered) outside (umbrellas), inside bar, outside bar, music and room to dance. Monday, 12-29-2025: I can't believe I hadn't written a review for this restaurant especially since I've eaten here many times in the past especially when I used to live in Indio/La Quinta working for the USDA. I have always loved their classy & cultural decor & their delicious food. Tonight I had an early dinner with a good friend I hadn't seen since 2017. When we arrived it wasn't busy so we were seated at a booth right away. The hostess was very sweet & welcoming. Our server was just lovely & she took great care of us. My friend ordered the Chicken Cilantro Salad, which happens to be her favorite & I chose the Albondigas Soup. We both had iced teas with lemon. We had 8 years to catch up and it was like we didn't skip a beat! We were so engaged that I totally forgot to take photos!!! The food was very satisfying & service provided was superb! An old favorite of ours which we visit while in town, after a long absence, it was wonderful to see that nothing has changed. The menu is the same, the staff welcoming and friendly, the servers very attentive, the music traditional, the prices consistent with today's restaurant realities. So much to choose from at lunch, but we went with one plate of beef taco and cheese enchilada, the other a Tostada Suprema with chicken. Both came with a large serving of refried beans, though black beans and ranchero style were also available. Every bite was delicious, just as our mouths remembered. No drinks since it was midday, but we noticed some happy patrons sipping margaritas. Of course. Located on the edge of the busiest part of downtown, street parking was easy. Dropped the parents off at the airport and wanted to make a day out of it. Parked in a lot off the strip and just started walking. We knew Las Casuelas had live music so we headed in that direction. The band was jamming and a very old cute couple was dancing on the dance floor. And with that I was sold. Sat in the bar area and ordered a strawberry margarita and a shredded beef quesadilla. The ranchero sauce was good and the margarita had tahin around the rim. They kept filling chips and salsa which was delicious and the waitress was super sweet! The plate looked like someone just threw everything on it without paying attention, you couldn't tell what was what apart from the burrito. The burrito was pretty gross, meat was chewy and bland, the tortilla was dry. The chicken in the enchilada was dry and bland. The chile relleno was falling apart. The carnitas plate wasn't much better. You get a huge portion but the "twice slow cooked" carnitas are dry, bland, and tough. The guacamole didn't taste fresh, and what's with that little teaspoon of congealed cheese on the beans? So place is very nice but the food was definitely not authentic or good Mexican food. The asada tacos wasn't actually cooked on the grill instead it was from what I could tell either steam cooked or boiled definitely not on the grill like asada should have been so definitely disappointed and an insult to Mexicans who cook asada on a daily basis. The margarita was refreshing as it was basically water down drinks. In my opinion this place has lost its charm and authenticity in flavor. The staff was good but place felt more like fast food than the full authentic Mexican flavors of Mexico. The rice and beans were good and the salsa was definitely toned way down. We had meant to eat here on other visits to Palm springs, but for one reason or another had not made it. I'm glad we had a chance to try it this trip. First of all, this place is huge. There are two separate bar areas--one with a stage and dance floor--, a couple of large dining rooms, and patio seating out front which runs half a block. There are even little nooks with booths in them in the hallway. This place is gorgeous - - very traditional Mexican looking with high ceilings and murals and fountains and lots of wrought iron. I can see coming here just for the ambience. I had read some pretty bad reviews about the food, but also some good ones, so I tried to have an open mind. Even though this place is so big, we had a 30-minute wait to get a table. As soon as we were seated chips and salsa and water were brought, and very soon after our server came. He was extremely friendly and helpful when I asked questions about the cocktails. The chips and salsa were good. We ordered a couple of classic margaritas, and they were okay. Definitely not the best margaritas I've had but certainly not the worst. I believe they're pre-mixed. We ended up ordering: *The tortilla soup - - came in a really large bowl, enough for the entire meal. It had quite a spicy bite to it. It was good. *Red chili beef burrito, served with black beans and rice. It was very meaty. I didn't taste it, but my son said it was good. *Tostada Suprema -- like a taco salad tortilla bowl filled with steak, lots of guacamole, lettuce, cheese, and sour cream. It was really delicious. It was served with beans and rice. I got the refried beans, and I will say that they were delicious - - they tasted like they were homemade. The rice I could take her leave. After reading the reviews I would say would lean toward the positive reviews. I thought the food was actually good. I will say we stayed away from enchiladas or anything with red sauce, because that is very subjective and I am very picky. Don't believe those reviews about Taco Bell being better, as they're not even the same type of food. The atmosphere, the service, and the food all balance out to have made this a nice dinner. We ended up getting a combo plate and a burrito. There was a small hiccup with the combo--it came out missing one of the items, but the server brought it over once we pointed it out. The hostess at the front acting like she was being put out to take care of us,bordering rude. The place is very dirty, we sat at a table and there was trash and food all over the floor and under the table, I had to ask a busser to please sweep it up, we used to frequent the restaurant until about 20 years ago and the food was slipping and the portions were getting smaller and smaller, the margaritas: we ordered the 13.00 and charged us for the next level up(up-selling without letting the customer know that it is going to be 16.00 instead of 13.00) honesty and integrity are the back bone of any successful business. We know why we quit going to this place ,fool me once shame you and fool me twice shame on me. During that time: * Staff walked by multiple times saying they would check on our order * No one followed up with a real update * No food came out, and no clear communication was provided At a certain point, it felt like we were forgotten. Long waits happen, but lack of communication makes the experience much worse. I hope the team can improve coordination between the front of house and kitchen, and provide better updates to guests when delays. read more
