Went again to restaurant week, and again found quality and imagination in planning of the menu and in preparation of the food. This time arrived before sundown, was seated in the front room, and enjoyed the view of the beach and Sound. Didn't scrimp on restaurant week--entrees were superb. Very skilled and hep service staff. My wife and I celebrated our two year anniversary at La Plage - and we're so glad we did. Our appetizers and entrees were excellent. Our server Max was incredibly hospitable and you can't forget about that view! Don't worry if they seat you in the rear of the restaurant. La Plage is a perfect, local spot in Wading River, NY. A stone's throw from the beach, this intimate restaurant EXCEEDED our expectations as our group (of 11 women from Minnesota) dined together. The menu included many wonderful items to choose from and the food preparation was immaculate. Our server, Stephen, was wonderful and made us feel welcome and appreciated. From cocktails and appetizers, to fine-dining entrees and sweet desserts... La Plage was amazing and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone visiting the area (Wading River, Riverhead, etc). There are a few other fine-dining restaurants within 5 miles of La Plage but don't waste your time and appetite on them. Visit La Plage - you'll be so happy you did! read more

I've never had a bad meal here! The sauces are great! The food is delicious! Mussels,hanger steaks, parpadelle with seafood light and tasty. Had striped bass that had a nice crispy skin and cooked to perfection. Desserts are home made which is a plus. Cozy little place with outdoor seating during the nicer months. And I recommend signing up for their email list to hear about special events like wine pairing dinners. read more

As much as I hate to say it, I really can only give La Plage 3 stars. I'd been dying to try this place after hearing great things about the food and the location. My husband and I came on a Thursday evening. To start, we were welcomed by the sights and smells of the cesspool being pumped to the far right of the part of the restaurant facing the beach- not cool. We mustered on and eventually got used to the smell. For starters we were given some bread and butter; really nothing impressive, just your basic roll and butter. Their menu was decent and for starters we ordered the cheese and cracker platter. There were 4 different types of cheeses, two types of crackers, and some honey and apples to pair. I was not impressed and I LOVE cheese. For entrees my husband ordered the pork and I the Papardelle Pasta. My dish was decent but again, unimpressive. The seafood in the dish was a bit chewy and the dish itself wasn't all that flavorful. To boot it was a rainy, windy night and the staff kept going through the door to the outside area and by doing such would cause a huge gust of wind to the inside area accompanied by a door slam. Maybe I'll give it another shot on a nicer day. read more

For 6 years they hid from us :) Do not Judge a book by it cover. (my husband had doubts and now this is one of his favorite places) We come here now on a regular basis. To Relax and enjoy excellent food. Its not about Glamour here where you need to dress to the 9's Casual is fine. Excellent food, and a very professional and personable staff. A few times we have even taken a walk on the beach across the street in between courses picking up stones and shells. We came back to our outside table napkins folded, wine glass full. Some "must have's" one time or another is the carpaccio, cheese platter, Ziti, and there pesto Muscles it is in a white cream sauce. My husband and I have come for romantic evening dinners to casual Brunch or light diner. One gorgeous Sunday we went just for the cheese platter, a salad, and wine, yes visited the beach in between to collect rocks lol. read more

La Plage has been on my list of places to check out for quite some time...and for some reason I just never got there. I am so glad I finally did! Location is fantastic. You truly feel like you are on a little getaway in this remote section of Wading River. While a parking lot does separate you from the ocean, it's still a great view. Service was excellent. Our waitress was super attentive. Food was really good. We ordered the tuna tataki special as an appetizer. Best tuna I have ever had! My husband ordered the Halibut - which I loved. I ordered the Branzino. As someone who doesn't order fish often, I wasn't in love with this dish, but I think it's just because I am not accustomed to eating fish. It was definitely flavorful and he accompaniments were really good. We had a hard time deciding on a dessert, so ordered both the seasonal crumble and chocolate tarte with popcorn ice cream. Both were phenomenal! Overall, we loved this little spot and cannot wait to return. read more

Was fortunate enough to stay in Wading River for 5 days and was just steps away from this gem of a restaurant. Had a fabulous lunch the first day with 5 friends and we all absolutely loved the food, the wine, the staff and ambience. Stopped in several more times for either a meal or cocktail/app and it never disappointed. Everything I or my friends had was amazing. The staff was friendly and always had a smile on their face. Whether staying near here or driving to/from the North Fork, this is a must, as well as a trip in from another part of LI. Cannot wait to visit again. read more

I really like this place. Small, quiet, comfortable and easy. If I were the type of individual that preferred to dine out more so than in, this is where I would be found. I was just here for valentines days for the second year in a row and the meal and service and other patrons really make for a pleasant occasion. My husband and I live locally and finally decided to try La Plage. Fortunately it was Hamptons Restaurant Week so we could try the highlights without going in for the full price commitment. I called Thursday evening and was able to get a 8:30 pm reservation for the same night. We had to wait about five minutes in the unheated porch area, which was okay, not too much of a wait. Our first courses were the French onion soup and the pumpkin ravioli with toasted sunflower seeds. The French onion soup was pretty good, nothing too untraditional, thankfully a lot less salty than the average place. The pumpkin ravioli-- well, I am not a big fan of truffle oil..but it seemed to be swimming in truffle oil or essence, which to me dominates an entire dish if not used with a very light hand! For the main dish I had the hazelnut encrusted Mahi Mahi which was very good, with a very light, not overpowering sauce. My husband's NY strip steak and beef short rib were pretty good, the short rib was extremely tender, the marinade or juice were quite salty, perhaps a little too much. For dessert we had the warm chocolate bread pudding and the apple-cranberry crumble. Both of which were excellent. My husband had a mixed cocktail with gin which was a little pricey for about a six ounce serving - $12, but they did not skimp on the gin one bit. All in all, we were satisfied with the meal, happy to have another option for fine dining in the area. We are very partial to Michael Anthony's Food Bar a couple miles away, which I couldn't recommend higher. read more

The location is ideal. Typically our visits have been problem free. The staff is usually attentive and the food is always delicious. A recent dinner experience was different than past ones. The hostess was rude, young staff was obnoxious and drinking at the bar. However, our server was wonderful and very friendly. Will try again to see if the atmosphere goes back to the way it was. read more

I really enjoyed my late Father's Day dinner with my dad. He really enjoyed himself. We both ordered the tuna sashimi appetizer, it was perfectly seared and served with an absolutely fresh salad of basil, citrus and tomatoes. The hint of licorice was delightful. We shared the cheese plate an we loved the honey and crisp apple that accompanied the four cheeses. There was a Brie, blue, a truffle cheese and something else with toasted bread. My dad ordered the perfectly cooked flank steak and I ordered the Bronzino for the main course. Both were yummy. Finally we finished the meal with the peanut butter mouse. I slightly wished there was a blackberry jam between the chocolate layers to cut the richness. It was good. The service was great too. I wish this place had more of a view but I was stuck starring at the kids jungle gym across the street. I knew beyond the gym was a beautiful beach. It's rare to find great restaurants in this area but La Plage is a good fund and I would go back. read more

Food and service top notch! Beef carpaccio delicious, just the right amount of truffle oil. The four of us ordered Striped bass, scallops, paparadell which was loaded with sea food and rigatoni and shrimp...all were amazing. Creme brûlée for dessert was one of the best I've had. To top it off we had the best server Kelly. She was so pleasant and knowledgable. The best service we have experienced in a long time. Right across the street is the beach and we were able to see the fireworks which was very entertaining! read more

La Plage is truly one of the very best restaurants on Long Island. The food and the friendly service are fantastic. The great appetizers include mussels in pesto sauce, and raw oysters and clams on the half shell. The bronzino with clams and chorizo, the duck and the filet mignon are my personal favorites. read more

The food was amazing!!! A little more than I usually spend, but it's definitely a deal for what you get. The appetizers really stood out - the truffle ravioli and the calamari tempura - the squid was really soft, not chewy, like you'd usually get. We actually also ended up sitting next to a loud table. I'm so glad they came in at the end of the meal rather than the beginning. And a again the staff (who were excellent btw) were apologetic. Perhaps if one goes on a week night they should request to sit at a quiet table, which for us apparently wasn't in the back room. read more

There are no half stars on here but my real score would be 3.5 stars. I just finished dinner at La Plage and it was good. The ambiance is nice because it's summer and we took an outside table. I had the orange Cosmo that was on their drinks menu ( it had a longer name ) and it was great. My boyfriend said the gin fizz drink he ordered was mediocre and made a bit weak. I had the soup which was a sweet corn chowder with a bit of lump crab meat and it was very tasty. My boyfriend had the scallop app and it was a bit bland ( I tried it and it was overpriced and overrated ). For the entree he had the beef short rib which was tasty but again nothing special and I had the lobster which I enjoyed but also not an amazing dish. After dinner we ordered the creme brûlée which was excellent ( but we had to re ask for it because our waitress came with bill but we didn't receive the dessert, no big deal ). Our bill was $150 plus tip $180 for two drinks two apps two entrees two coffees and a dessert. A bit overpriced. All in all a good dinner, at a good restaurant but I didn't leave with stars in my eyes and because of the price I doubt I'd be going back. I'd recommend a try to see for yourself because it was good but not amazing. read more

First time, but not the last time at La Plage. It was a Tuesday but that did not take away from the quality of the service one bit. Our server Kelly was attentive and making sure we had the best possible experience. I started off with the Lobster, Crab and Ricotta Ravioli and it was delicious. I love when you can tell the rav. is housemade because they are all not uniform, perfect pieces. My girlfriend had the corn soup and she didn't leave any on her plate. For an entree I ordered the duck confit, chive risotto and truffled mushroom essence. Risotto-spot on, the duck had a crispy delicious skin that gave a beautiful crunch when mixed in with the risotto and shiitake mushrooms. My girlfriend had the sundried tomato and manchego rigatoni which to me kind of tasted like penne a la vodka sauce but was still very tasty. For dessert we both ordered a chocolate and caramel tart with butterpopcorn ice cream. the ice cream was outstanding- it tasted exactly like popcorn in the best way. Had an absolutely wonderful meal last night at La Plage. The homemade mini bagettes and herbed butter were to die for - we finished the entire basket! Appetizers at the table were the crab remolade, artisan cheese plate, and raw oysters -- all delicious, and the waitress' knowledge of the cheese plate and accompaniments was impressive. Dinners included the pappardelle pasta, rigatoni with shrimp (which got my seafood fearing daughter to try shrimp!), caramelized sea scallops, and braised short ribs. Everyone enjoyed their dishes, and thought their's was the best. Desserts were local peaches in some sort of sauce that was fantastic, creme brulee that was bursting with vanilla beans, and a lemon caramel panna cotta. All were very food but the peaches were the best. Nice wine selection and sublime cappuccino. Friendly, knowledgeable service, beautiful view, nice atmosphere. Definitely one of our new favorite places! read more
