This is worth a stop! I would give it 4 stars for the environment since they have a nice little patio out back with a forest view, but the food was a mixed bag. Ordered their Michelada, which is huge, and spiced nicely with their own (I hope) recipe. Their lime margarita has a nice flavor, but its a little light on the tequila. The meal comes with the requisite chips and salsa, but their chips are just semi stale bag quality and their red and green salsa lacked and sweetness or much flavor. We ordered four of their tacos from their appetizer menu (street tacos) and had the chicken, asada, carnitas, and cabeza. The chicken taco had a nice grilled flavor to it, but the asada was somewhat disappointing. The cabeza was tender and had a beef stew consistency-pretty good, but I'm just not a big cabeza fan. Their carnitas was quite a gem though, and I would order a plate full of these next time! get the carnitas! FYI The chocolate store next door has some amazing confections - get the avalanche bars! This isn't Tex-Mex or southwestern style Mexican food, it's AUTHENTIC Mexican and it's some of the best I've ever had. Comparing the two isn't quite fair. It's like comparing New York-style pizza with Chicago style. Different but very tasty, yes? I'm no expert or foodie but I have spent months in Mexico on business and vacation. I've been to Mexico City, Cuernavaca, Puerto Vallarta, Xijuatanejo, and Ixtapa to name a few, so I do know the difference. Either way, La Roca is one of the best I've ever had. Three thumbs up! We saw this place on a previous trip to the LC and wanted to check it out but never got a chance. This time we were able to come in for lunch. We ordered some tacos (carnitas and carne asada) and a chicken quesadilla. We received some warm chips and salsa, one red and one green. I loved the green one - it was really fresh-tasting and had some nice heat. The red was also good - it had a nice smoky chipotle flavor. We both enjoyed the tacos a lot. The chicken quesadilla was OK - nothing special. I contemplated ordering some more tacos but our next stop was the bbq & beer festival at the casino. I kept my priorities straight and left room in my tum-tum to drink BEER! I'm sure we will be back - this place now has a spot in our rotation of places to go in Lincoln City. read more

If you are a fan of good Mexican food RUN AWAY! Possibly the blandest, lackluster, Mexican food I have ever had. The rice was a flavorless brick, the refried beans were so wet they just pooled all over the plate and that would have been okay if they tasted like anything. The burrito was boring at best. My friend and I ate at La Roca last night. We are vegan/vegetarian, so when we ordered take out we were careful to get vegetarian beans and ordered our food without rice as it is cooked in chicken broth. Vegetarian ordered veggie burrito + cheese quesadilla, vegan ordered veggie burrito + bean tostada (both made vegan). The price point was awesome, and the food was pretty good - pretty normal Mexican restaurant stuff. The issue came around 45 minutes AFTER eating there. My friend started getting intense cramps and she assumed it was food poisoning. Fast forward a few minutes and she was on the side of highway 101 having *issues*... let's just say her pants didn't get completely down before the explosion started. I don't know what to rate this - I felt fine afterwards and I think the food was okay. The trauma we experienced afterwards will haunt me for the rest of my life. Proceed with caution. read more

For the location, food was good. Spouse and I both ordered Super burritos. Hers was chicken, mine pork. Most of the content was rice and beans. Did like the fresh cilantro. Didn't care for the small pieces of meat. Prefer chunks that you know is meat. This was nothing special. Being Friday at 6PM, it took 45 minutes to get our dinner. Service was less than attentive and yes they were slammed. I did enjoy the Verde salsa as it had the right amount of heat. In all fairness I may try them again. La Roca was a great stop for a quick, filling Mexican meal along the coast. We ordered shrimp fajitas (incredible), a super-sized burrito (massive and enough for two people), a vegetarian burrito with a cheese enchilada (nothing too special), and four tacos with four different meats (packed to the brim with meat!). The prices are low, the quality is fair and the service is nice. There's little ambiance, but it's hard to pass up for the price and good eats. read more

The food was very tasty. My boyfriend said the burrito was the best he has ever had! I'm not sure what he ordered, but it was steak bites of some kind. I also loved his dinner, even better than mine. I had the chicken enchilada and chicken chili relleno and it was very good. The mole wasn't the best I've had, and wasn't thrilled about it, but it was still delicious. One miss was that the dishes do not come with anything fresh on the plate, except the tiniest pinch if iceberg lettuce. A few tomatoes and cilantro and more lettuce would make it better. Next time I will order a side of pico de gallo. The servers were very nice, despite the stress of it being so busy. A lot of people were there for take out and it took about a 20 minutes during the rush to get a table for two. One last thing is they need to fix the lock on the women's door! It is very hard to close the door all the way. This place is worth checking out and I'd definitely recommend it, just have someone watch the door when using the restroom :) read more

We stopped here on our way to Newport Beach.. They had really good vegetarian options available. Very affordable, Good service and delicious food.. Portion size is decent and so is the service! The food is delicious! We have been going here for 12 years and happy with the food and service every time! The only downfall is the space, however, we have never had to wait for a table. They are quick turning over a table for you, even when you're like our party, and show up with a group of 8. You shouldn't be disappointed with whatever you choose. read more

Went in for lunch. Staff was friendly and the place was clean. They brought out the homemade chips and the red and green sauces right away. They were great. The green is hot, but even the red can surprise you. When we ate all of out chips they offered more, but then forgot to bring them. The waitress was attentive but not annoying. She kept my water refilled whenever I emptied it. I got the chicken burrito plate and my wife got the chicken flautas. We were both disappointed. The burrito was bland and I couldn't figure out why. It had everything in it, though they were shy with the cheese and sour cream. It may have had something to do with the heat in it. My nose was running the entire time. The side was rice, the same rice in the burrito. No flavor variation there. The flautas were also bland and disappointing. Other reviewers have said this place great. Coming to Lincoln City from AZ I have to admit I was skeptical about Mexican food on the Oregon Coast. Well I'm a believer in LaRoca, this place was great. Typical Mexican restaurant, not worried about fancy or a elaborate decore, but the focus was on good authentic food. I had the Carne Azada and it was excellent, and came with rice, beans and torteas. One of my favorite dishes and one, i get often so i know a good one when i find it. Staff had their issues with communication due to language gaps, but it didn't make much of a difference and we enjoyed our evening. Good bang for the buck, the prices are very reasonable. read more

Authentic Oaxaca Mexican food here with fresh delicious ingredients. Loved the shredded chicken enchiladas and tried both the red and verde sauce (the red sauce was my favorite). Came during dinner time, two large tables were ahead of us but our small order came out first. The refried beans and rice tasted quite fresh and were tasty. I love Mexican food, and this place did not disappoint. Unique salsa, one made from cucumber was delicious with the fresh tortilla chips. The only thing that's hard to find on a menu are veggies outside of getting fajitas or lettuce from a taco salad. Look at this one that I was served with the chicken. Wow! The grilled veggies were perfect and the salad had real greens - not just iceberg lettuce. I didn't eat much of the dressing because I think it had mayo in it, but it was delicious too! Holy delicious Mole, Batman!! I have ordered chicken mole at every mexican restaurant that I have ever been to that I could find it on the menu. Every. Single. One. And every single one is different. This one was DELICIOUS. Not overpoweringly sweet, nor overly spicy, just packed full of flavor. The chicken, which I have found is usually dry little chunks, was large whole (boneless) pieces that were so tender they shredded with almost zero effort. We also had the nachos, which had the pastor pork on them, which was outstanding. I'll have to go for the pastor tacos next time. And oh yes, there will be a next time... I thought the food was good, but the quality of the chicken that they used was pretty dreadful. I'm super picky about meat, so you can take my opinion with a grain of salt, but after two bites I actually picked the rest of the meat out of my taco because I was so skeeved out. Everything else was good, though, and I really liked the green salsa that they provided with the chips-- very flavorful! We went to La Roca on Valentine's Day & ordered the Pollo a la crema. We asked for them to add a small amount of chipotle in the sauce which they did. It was delicious! It included authentic refried beans, rice, pico de gallo, guacamole and warm tortillas. I've eaten this dish at many Mexican restaurants & La Roca's is one of my favorites. After dinner we enjoyed a deep fried ice cream. Loved the warm shell the ice cream was placed inside. Service was excellent and the restaurant was very clean. We will be back! read more

This is top 3 Mexican food restaurants I've visited. Mexican is my favorite and I've had some good and lots of bad. I've even been all over Mexico. Amazing that this place is on the Oregon coast. I wouldn't expect excellent Mexican food out here, but here it is. It's not fancy, but you won't be disapponted in the food. Prices are pretty low, too. You can even get lunch plates for dinner for 50 cents more. A trip to the beach won't be the same without eating here for us. read more

This place doesn't look like much from the outside and doesn't get much better when you go in. Formica tables and walls covered with old photos and other memorabilia with a strong emphasis on Oaxaca. This is NOT a place to visit for its romantic ambiance. But if you want really good, authentic Mexican food at a fantastic price, look no farther. Stick to traditional Mexican choices and let them dazzle you with the result. (Tex-mex is NOT traditional; skip the fajitas). With 2 large entrees, chips and salsa plus a pair of Margaritas (careful, they don't skimp on the Tequila), we still paid less than $30 plus tip. We'll probably visit Oregon against just for a stop at La Roca. read more

Best Mexican restaurant coming from a Mexicana. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is clean. We came on a weeknight and there was plenty of seating. I ordered a Michelada with XX beer, it was thirst quenching. I also ordered 3 tacos, one Carne Asada, one al pastor (marinated pork), and one carnitas (shredded pork). The corn tortillas were filled to the Max with meat and pico de gallo with a side of lime. I was thoroughly impressed by the service and the food. Real Mexicans making real Mexican food.
