We have eaten at La Roca several times previously, and try to eat here at least once on each visit to Lincoln City, which is several times a year, and in all seasons. We have found the food to be consistently good, the dining area (about 10 tables of various seating sizes) always clean, and the help attentive but not hovering. The Chile Verde is our favorite at this restaurant, but we have tried many of the dishes and are never disappointed. This is not a chain restaurant, and is located in a small strip mall setting without significant signage, so if you are not familiar with the restaurant you can drive past it without seeing it. DON'T miss it! We highly recommend this small restaurant for Mexican fare. read more

This is the best Mexican food on the central Oregon coast and the prices are ridiculously good. I love the Nelscott/Lincoln City location. It's small and quaint and feels like you're invited into a Mexican home for a home cooked meal. The food is absolutely spot on delicious and authentic (Oaxaca) and everything is homemade, including the salsas. The staff are happy and friendly, and downright adorable. If your in Lincoln City Oregon you have to try this little hole in the wall where all the local peeps go to have a taste of Mexican Food from the deepest southern part of Mexico, Oaxaca. Delicious Mexican food. Great family atmosphere and amazing food to match. I had a combo plate with a pork tamale (the mole sauce they smother it in is amazing), a chicken enchilada smothered in verde salsa, and a marinated pork burrito. The marinated pork is flavorful, tender, and juicy. My wife got the chicken fajitas, and they were seasoned to perfection. We finished the meal with dessert, ordering both the fried ice cream and a tasty fried tortilla dessert. The final course did not disappoint. Good food, but not what I ordered. We ordered a fried pork taco and a chicken quesadilla. What we got was the pork taco which was correct, and a spicy pork quesadilla. We clearly states "No" on the spicy pork when discussing the taco option and then simply ordered a chicken quesadilla. There seems to be a language barrier as my drink was also incorrect. I advised of the error in the quesadilla, and all they cared about was if we liked it. Again, it was good, but not what we ordered. read more

This is our new favorite restaurant in Lincoln City! We came for dinner our second night on vacation and then returned for lunch the next day on our way out of town. Across two meals we tried the chile rellenos, chimichanga, burrito, tostada, and enchilada. The chile rellenos are absolutely fantastic -- some of the best I have ever eaten. The other item I would highly recommend is their fried pork -- ANYTHING you can get on their menu with fried pork, do it. Super crispy but still very tender and flavorful. The service is also very fast, our food came out within 5-10 minutes both times. The first time we went there, we had our puppy with us, and asked if we could sit on their patio since we saw on Yelp that it's dog friendly. They were very accommodating and said sure, and when we got to the patio it was clear that it wasn't actually open, but they were incredibly nice and went ahead and opened it up for us and cleaned off a table so we could eat with our dog. The rice and beans are also tasty, and the chips are delicious and thin and crispy. I really liked that the dinner combo plates come with 3 items, so you can try a lot of different things. It was definitely a lot of food, and also very affordable. read more

My fella and I came here recently based on online reviews, then realized we'd been to the same place a few years ago. Both times the food was quite good. I ordered a vegetarian burrito (I think beans and rice, guac, and maybe some other stuff) and he had the carne asada. The place was HOPPIN' on a Friday night, with most tables accommodating some larger parties. We were grateful to nab the last table for two close to the door despite the fact we got blasted by cold air and hear it slam ever time someone enters or exits. This first world problem was easily ignored by our desire to shove food in our faces ASAP. It took a little while for our food to come out but considering how busy it was, we didn't wait insanely long. There were also a ton of people picking up take-out orders, so I imagine the kitchen was operating to the tune of Yakety Sax. The food is authentic tasting and the service was pleasant but fleeting. While waiting for our food, a visitor from out of state said he had eaten there 6 or 7 times out of the 10 days while in town! I had Chicken Taco Salad. Yummy with the grilled vegetables and freshly made shell and my husband had Huevos con Cherizo with corn tortillas (Very tasty and filling) and homemade horchata. Very nice staff. Casual family style dining . Unusual two style salsas, one moderately hot green and a toasted red. My husband and I ordered the super nachos and a chile rellano burrito. Both were very unusual. The rellano was not stuffed with a melted cheese and had whole beans tomatoes sour cream and rice! Bizarre it didn't taste bad it was more of a bean and rice burrito with green chili in it. The nachos had three meats, carne Asada Pastor and chorizo. Again bizarre. Probably would not return. Definitely not recommend the Pastor that is what tasted like chorizo. read more

So on our visit to lincoln city, we were looking for a nice Mexican place on Yelp. I saw that La Roca received good reviews so we went. First of all, all of you people saying that it's good authentic Mexican food, I feel sad for you. Apparently you've never had authentic Mexican food before. Because any place that can't make guacamole is NOT authentic. The chips were good. I struggled with the rest. First, we ordered some guacamole. What we received was some green liquid that was certainly not freshly crushed avocados. I can only assume it was powdered guacamole mix. Just add water! The waitress brought us a cup of tomatoes and cilantro to add in which made it SLIGHTLY more palatable but it was still not guacamole. And why do I have to add things to my guacamole myself? Do they not know what guacamole is?? I ordered a burrito which ended up looking like a burrito you get at like a Taco Del Mar or Chipotle... Except not as tasty. My friend ordered the cheese enchiladas and we still aren't sure what she actually received. If this is the best Mexican food on the coast, I can only assume the coast is not the place to go if you want Mexican food. On a positive note, the staff was friendly. Our waiter looked so hopeful when he asked how the food was that I didn't have the heart to say anything except "it's good!" But yeah... Not coming here again. The owners were extremely friendly and seemed to know exactly when we needed a refill or help with anything. We live about 2 hours away and have come back a couple times since then (once was specifically to eat here). La Roca is the bomb. Not much else to say. I believe most of the yuppies of the land would say that it is a hole in the wall, which it may be, but those of us who live in Lincoln City know that it is worth any wait you might have for a table. If I went there and were not able to get a table I'd still wait. If it were too long of a wait I'd get my order to go. Everything on the menu is great. I love the green salsa, mmmboymmmhowdy so good. The help is always so friendly and they recognize a familiar face, even if you have not been introduced. I love the chimichangas, and the burritos are crazy good. Traveling the Oregon coast, we had one night in Lincoln City and turned to our trusted online oracle for a dinner recommendation. La Roca popped up at the top of the pile, so we drove the three miles from our hotel with visions of fish tacos dancing in our heads. Most of all, we were excited to try the "authentic" Mexican praised by the other reviewers. Well... The fish tacos were made with tilapia, the guacamole was missing some key ingredients and was watered down within an inch of its life, and the fajitas needed a dose of basic salt and pepper to bring out any flavor. Several of the dishes tasted like they came out of a can. Cool decor, friendly waitstaff, big portions - but all this doesn't make up for the mediocre food. read more
