Came here per recommendations from a friend. My friend's family used to eat here frequently years ago. It has a hometown feel. The staff was friendly. We made reservations prior and we were seated immediately. The food had good flavor and was a decent portion for the price. You get served complementary garlic bread, which was served hot and was delicious. I got a small Caesar salad with my meal with a dressing on the side. I ordered the cioppino which was served with pasta. I liked the flavor. My friends got the spaghetti with meatballs and chicken Parmesan. We all finished our foods. Really nice cozy homey environment, and super friendly staff. Unfortunately, nothing that we had was palatable. The starter minestrone was too salty, beany, and garlicky; the garlic bread was way too buttery and salty; and the main courses (polenta with prawns--more like shrimp--and linguine with clams--seemingly canned clams) were both overly garlicky, salty or otherwise problematic: not enough pasta, huge wedges of garlicky polenta, etc. Happy to give them another try and update my review, as the menu had some really good variety, including some nice healthy-sounding dishes like grilled eggplant and cioppino, and the desert menu had some nice -sounding options. read more

I picked my friend up from the airport and she said " I feel like Italian", I said " I know the perfect place" so we headed over to Zozo's for lunch. We ordered a glass of the house chianti and it was amazing! I had the mushroom ravioli's and a house salad for an extra $3 which was well worth it! My favorite part is the homemade bread!! Absolutely delicious and Rebecca brought us more straight out of the oven. I love hot bubbly bread!!! First visit. It was ok. I've learned to temper my expectations for Italian food as the Reno/Sparks metro area really lacks in it. I ordered the veal piccata. It was properly cooked. Smelled and looked great. I was a little put off by the addition of cream to the sauce...this is not traditionally an ingredient in piccata. I substituted the mashed potatoes for a side of spaghetti and that was a real good call. My partner had the lobster ravioli. It's one of her favorite dishes and she was pleased. I'm a bit of a lobster snob so I rarely order it outside of Boston or Maine. (Or Florida) However, I tried it and it was ok. The entrees came with choice of soup or salad we both had the salad. Mixed greens with some grape tomato and homemade croutons which were tasty. The service was excellent and they seem to have a following of regulars. The escargot was delicious! Sorry I didn't get a picture of it. I just wanted to dive in, but it was absolutely fantastic! Minestrone soup that comes with the entrée not so much it was lukewarm when it arrived. They heated up in the microwave not what I would've done I would've given the Customer a fresh hot cup of soup. The veal was difficult to cut and to eat..tough not tender Lavender martini was amazing.!! You gotta try it. I like them atmosphere it's quiet. I usually dress up to come here, but even in my work uniform I was seated promptly and the hostess was friendly! The waiters and waitresses are fantastic. Today is my grandma's birthday and this is the restaurant that she wanted to come to! I've never heard of it so I was quite intrigued to come and check it out! The interior was very nice with a brick wall, pictures hung all over, and bottles all on shelves. The tables all had a nice black sheet over them with a candle in the middle! All of it making A very nice and pretty environment! Our waiters were very fast, polite, kind and professional with us! Checking on us repeatedly and always being nearby in case we needed anything! I ordered a simple spaghetti and meatballs and the house salad. The salad got here pretty quickly and it was a pretty good appetizer. A nice salad to enjoy for sure. The spaghetti and meatballs were pretty good. The noodles tasted good, though they were much better when mixed with the pasta sauce! The meatballs were big and tasty and very enjoyable for sure! A very good spaghetti and meatballs! We also got desert and I ordered the Chocolate Mousse with Kahlua Cream! And boy was it delicious! So rich and delicious! Overall, this place was amazing! Last evening we enjoyed a nice dinner at Zozo's. The service was courteous and efficient, the salads were fresh and the warm bread was excellent. We both ended up ordering Chicken Parmigiana, and we really liked the entree. The marinara sauce had a touch of sweetness and the large chicken breast tender with lots of cheese. Quality/Quantity - Our friend's favorite Italian restaurant, so we ALL frequent it more and more often. And our group keeps getting bigger. Today's appetizers, all of which were really good: Meatballs - Huge, more than enough to share! Even with 7 of us. We all got a bite. Calamari - Fried well, decent portions. I think I ate most of this dish. Love me some calamari! Toasted Focaccia Bruschetta - Hit for our group. I enjoyed it also, but the calamari was still my favorite. Complimentary Bread - So good!! Always a favorite. We always have to get seconds. If you want 3rds, it comes with a $4 upcharge, but that is still worth it in my book. House Salads - Nothing special, but also not bad. Fresh, decent quantity, and with dressing on the side. Two Cesar Salads - Our guests enjoyed this. $5 upcharge each. Cups of Minestrone Soups - Good. Cup of Egg Drop Soup - One of our guests wanted to try this; $5 upcharge. Linguine & Clams - Both in white and red sauce. My choice was the red sauce. I kept forgetting that this comes with BABY clams as I prefer larger clams, and actually if it was still in the shell, that would be an extra plus. NOTE to self, do not keep getting this... Eggplant Parmigiana - Home run, both ladies that got this loved it! Huge slices of eggplant. Baked and fried well. Eggplant Parmigiana with Grilled Chicken - WOW, generous portions. I think my wife took ¾ of her dish home... She got another two meals out of it. Sauteed Calamari Steak - This looked good, I might get it next time. Our newest addition to our group. She also took half her entree home. Grilled Prawn Picatta - Not a large quantity, but because all of us (except one) are light eaters, our guest still took half home. Another good entree. I will also add this to my list for next time. Special Chicken Pomodoro - Decent portions, my buddy devoured this. He is a good eater. One of the few in our group, lol. Dessert, Tiramisu - This was really good. We should have ordered a second one... And to wash it all down, I got a glass of Italian white wine which I really did not enjoy... Atmosphere - Double storefront. We seemed to always end up sitting in the second room but not today! I liked that they had a bar in each room. Table, booth, or bar seating. Two unisex restrooms. OMG! Zozo's restaurant out did themselves with their New Year's Eve menu. It was a four course menu for under $100 dollar a person. From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left, everything was amazing. We ordered a bottle of Wine "Quilt". Actually, we order two. Their wine list has the best priced in town. After we ordered the wine, we placed our food order. My husband order the stuffed mushrooms, Caesar salad, Wayugi filet and Tiramisu. His filet was cooked perfectly leaving him wanting more. I order the shrimp cocktail and crab, lobster crowder ( amazing) , Seabass, and the white chocolate mousse. Both of our selections were amazingly cooked and prepared. This was a wonderful night spent with great friend and excellent food and wine. It was a great way to bring in the New Year. We can't wait to go back and eat the regular menu. So disappointing! I remember this place being so good but the experience we just had was terrible. Unfortunately, none of the meals we ordered were good and one of them was actually rancid. The ricotta in the lasagna had gone bad. We did not say anything about any of the food except for the inedible lasagna. They said nothing back to us, took the plate away, and then still charged us! They did they not offer to make something else or to talk to us about it. They said nothing except take the plate away. Plus then they charged us for the soups which were supposed to be included with the meals. Very unprofessional service and super disappointing food. read more

Tried Zozo's for dinner and really enjoyed it! We started with the mushroom ravioli, which was rich, flavorful, and honestly reminded me of Wild River Grille's version. -Zozo's might be giving them some real competition! Next came the garlic bread... and wow. Totally addictive, especially when dipped in the ravioli sauce. Don't skip that combo. I also had the side Caesar (fresh, solid, crispy) and the chicken fettuccine Alfredo. I liked the addition of spinach and mushrooms, it made the dish feel a bit heartier. The flavor was good, but the sauce was just a little too runny for my taste. Our server was awesome. Super attentive, friendly, and gave great recommendations. Highly recommended that, if you choose to eat at this restaurant. The restaurant is almost full when I walked in. The atmosphere is intimate casual dining. Greeted by the waiter, order appetizers and drink to start. We ordered mushrooms ravioli, penne with sausage and grilled chicken (mildly spicy), seafood cioppino, and Italian soda ( sherry temple ). The penne sausage with grilled chicken breast is delicious. The grilled chicken is nice and moist. The sauce is mildly spicy goes well with dish. Overall I enjoyed the dish. A friend recommended we try this Italian spot out while in Reno and so glad we did. On Tuesday's you can bring your own borrow of wine with no corkage fee which is cool. Escargot was flavored well and the classic Moretti beer paired well with my steak. Will return here next time in town. Our favorite cozy, local easy neighborhood Italian restaurant when we want some good comfort food. My husband loves the Cajun pasta, and I've tried a few things- lasagna, chicken Parmesan, and all are amazing. It has such a cozy vibe inside, and never feels crowded or cramped. The bruschetta appetizer is huge and filling. I love how unassuming and not pretentious it is. You're always able to get in to eat, even on the weekend with a short wait. There is a waiter there who is our favorite and he always remember us and says hello. But all wait staff have been good. Always a 5 star experience, and prices and portions are very fair! read more

Unfortunate. We've been going to Zozo's since 2001 & up until the last year we have had no bad experiences. Used to be fantastic. But the last 2 visits were very disappointing. Had to wait 45 minutes for our food, food was barely warm, way too many capers, service was not good and the restaurant was unkept, dirty menus. We will not be returning since this happened two times in a row. I had called to speak with the manager, and our concerns were dismissed and there was no offer to appease the situation. We had an absolutely wonderful evening at ZoZo's! Our party of five was warmly welcomed, and the service throughout the night was outstanding -- attentive without being rushed. Every dish at the table was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared along with ultra tasty! From our appetizers to the wine selection, not a single plate disappointed. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, making it the perfect spot for both a group dinner and a special night out. ZoZo's has quickly become one of our favorite old school Reno restaurants, and we'll definitely be back soon! Okay okay okay, I can't believe I have not gone here! I've only gone to three Italian Restaurants and Olive Garden is one of them, don't even think Olive Garden is naturally a real one so I guess just two in town. But my oh my, Zozo Ristorante was insanely delicious, I told my husband to take me here next time we go on date (went with a family member here to grab dinner) and it's insane that my own husband went here a long time ago and mentioned it was good and we just never bothered to go. I've kept tabs where's the best calamari I've eaten and now this place is on my list for it. The calamari was breaded perfectly and the sauce for it was great for it because it was different. I ordered the dinner portion of the mushroom ravioli and added blackened chicken, let me tell ya that it was 10/10! It included with the choice of salad or soup and bread. The best mushroom ravioli I've ever had so far. For dessert I ordered the chocolate mousse, also a good shareable portion and it was delicious. The inside of this place gave me the nostalgia of the 80s/90s for some reason. It seems like they kept it the same to when they created this place, I love it. The service was also very friendly. Our first time at this restaurant. As we entered, the ambiance and music was great! No one greeted us. We weren't sure if we just seat ourselves or if there was a host to seat us. Staff was delivering food to tables. Tried to make eye contact, but no luck. I know they saw my bf and I standing there. Finally made eye contact with food runner. She just shrugged her shoulders. Someone finally approached us and sat us. Calamari was good, salad with raspberry dressing was amazing, the garlic had a good flavor but was limp and soggy, clam chowder lacked in flavor..it tasted more like celery than clams. My bf ordered the spaghetti and meatballs...large portion. I ordered the Cioppino. The flavor was ok. For $40 I would have expected more ingredients like, white fish; cod or halibut and at least one Dungeness crab leg. read more

Been a while since I've been to Zozzo's but for a birthday celebration decided it was time to return. We did make reservations because it was a party of six on a Saturday night so that worked out well. Was able to have a cocktail in the beautiful bar before dinner. Once seated out server and assistant greeted as immediately with waters and asking for our drink order which was taken care of promptly. We ordered appetizers and my soon-to-be 16-year-old granddaughter wanted to try escargot and so we did. We enjoyed seeing her discover a new food and she liked it! I have frequented this restaurant since 1990 and it is still as good as it was back then. My favorite dish is Zozo's chicken and it's the only thing I get when I come there with the raspberry vinaigrette salad. We also tried the clam chowder, the minestrone soup and the house salad which is a Italian vinaigrette. The garlic bread is a bonus. We also ordered the chicken Caesar salad, the pan roast which had the most delicious jumbo sized shrimp plus tons of other seafood, the pesto pasta, spaghetti and meatballs and a carbonara. They did offer birthday sundaes after but we were so full we passed. The drinks were strong, the wine was good and the food was delicious. Our servers checked on us continuously and even took a birthday picture. I will definitely return it as it was the girl's first visit to Zozo's I know they're going to have me bring them back. read more

It was time to update my previous review, considering that I hadn't been in to visit since the new ownership took over and my old friend, the outstanding Chef Kevin Ashton, had moved on. I wasn't sure what to expect, but, they've continued the tradition of fine food, ambiance and service. We have a large choice of fine Italian food restaurants in the area and this continues to be near the top of the list. Everything was delicious...no change in the quality. The classic dishes that they're known for are still on the menu, with some new stuff added. I'll be a regular again now that I've experienced this new iteration... They were attentive and knowledgeable about their menu. We ordered Calamari for apps and even though it was good the serving size was not. My husband ordered their prime steak special and I order their zozos chicken pasta specialty. I thought my pasta was bland but the portion was very big and my husband enjoyed his prime steak. Zozo's use to be my favorite Italian in all of Reno. I'd go as often as I could. I moved to sparks and had not been there for many years. Tonight my husband and I had a date night and I insisted. I am so happy to say that it is still, after over 20 years, my favorite Italian restaurant. The ambiance is amazing, the staff is so friendly and the food is phenomenal. We shared the calamari. I had the chicken Parmesan with fettuccine instead of spaghetti. I also had a house salad. I can't forget about the amazing garlic bread. For dessert we shared the new Limoncello Tiramisu. My husband devoured it, it was a little too tart for my liking but it was light and fluffy and he loved it. I can't wait to go back again soon and have my favorite Zozo's chicken again. read more

Wow! The changes inside are incredible! More light, more open and the wall between the two dining room has been opened up with brick facade. Food still rocks the bells with a huge Polenta app drizzled with pine nuts, along with Tomato Caprese that is HUGE, could be split with 3-4 people. Garlic bread is still the top tier umami I dream of. FOH still has the OGs and a couple new faces. Everyone was pleasant, friendly and drinks were refilled like clockwork. More space in the front room hostess area and the bar seating has changed to room #2. Minestrone soup was excellent, wife's side salad had some special mini tomatoes mixed in. Cajun Pasta still rules all! Maybe a tad more garlic and white pepper? Still awesome. Best part was my favorite waiter, Cody. He has been there for years, works his ass off and has the hustle down pat. Drinks, apps, entrees even garlic bread arrive almost immediately after the BOH has them ready. Shubie greeted us warmly on my wife's birthday December 4th 2024, and seated us in a very comfortable booth. He has been here at Zozo's for a very long time, and he is always SO nice. My wife had an exquisite chicken parmigiana with angelhair pasta and a delicate pesto sauce and topped with marinara. I had a fantastic eggplant parmesan and their delicious garlic bread. The minestrone soup was excellent, as was the salad with a creamy Italian dressing. Their house chianti was the perfect accompaniment to these wonderful entrees. Cody was a super waiter, attentive and friendly. Our only issue was NOT with Zozo's, but with a party of 6 that were unfortunately seated at the large booth between us and the wall. OMG, thank goodness we were almost done! You know how there's a thing called "inside voice" ? These individuals have never heard of that! My wife described them as using their "Stadium Voices "! Our ears were actually ringing when we left- it's a shame that some people are so inconsiderate of others. Ok, it's been years since we've been to ZoZo's and luckily I met the owner today and said we'd come in. All I can say is WOW, service was great, food was fantastic and I would rival the mushroom ravioli against anyone in town (locals know what I mean) Daughter had the Alfredo with the spicy sausage and loved it and for me the Rib eye Oscar. We were so stuffed and they made us take home dessert and just had some of the best tiramisu I've ever had. Lemonchello flavor. We live close by and I believe this may be a regular spot for us.
