Today is my grandma's birthday and this is the restaurant that she wanted to come to! I've never heard of it so I was quite intrigued to come and check it out! The interior was very nice with a brick wall, pictures hung all over, and bottles all on shelves. The tables all had a nice black sheet over them with a candle in the middle! All of it making A very nice and pretty environment! Our waiters were very fast, polite, kind and professional with us! Checking on us repeatedly and always being nearby in case we needed anything! I ordered a simple spaghetti and meatballs and the house salad. The salad got here pretty quickly and it was a pretty good appetizer. A nice salad to enjoy for sure. The spaghetti and meatballs were pretty good. The noodles tasted good, though they were much better when mixed with the pasta sauce! The meatballs were big and tasty and very enjoyable for sure! A very good spaghetti and meatballs! We also got desert and I ordered the Chocolate Mousse with Kahlua Cream! And boy was it delicious! So rich and delicious! Overall, this place was amazing! Delicious food, great service, very little wait time between salad and meals and dessert! Even the prices weren't very high with about $40 for each person! I 100% recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a nice sit down Italian restaurant!

OMG! Zozo's restaurant out did themselves with their New Year's Eve menu. It was a four course menu for under $100 dollar a person. From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left, everything was amazing. We ordered a bottle of Wine "Quilt". Actually, we order two. Their wine list has the best priced in town. After we ordered the wine, we placed our food order. My husband order the stuffed mushrooms, Caesar salad, Wayugi filet and Tiramisu. His filet was cooked perfectly leaving him wanting more. I order the shrimp cocktail and crab, lobster crowder ( amazing) , Seabass, and the white chocolate mousse. Both of our selections were amazingly cooked and prepared. This was a wonderful night spent with great friend and excellent food and wine. It was a great way to bring in the New Year. We can't wait to go back and eat the regular menu. Perfect place for any celebration!!

Still delicious and service great! We came in before a Nevada game without reservations and were lucky enough to snag two seats at the bar. Definitely make reservations here, it's always packed!

Tried Zozo's for dinner and really enjoyed it! We started with the mushroom ravioli, which was rich, flavorful, and honestly reminded me of Wild River Grille's version. -Zozo's might be giving them some real competition! Next came the garlic bread... and wow. Totally addictive, especially when dipped in the ravioli sauce. Don't skip that combo. I also had the side Caesar (fresh, solid, crispy) and the chicken fettuccine Alfredo. I liked the addition of spinach and mushrooms, it made the dish feel a bit heartier. The flavor was good, but the sauce was just a little too runny for my taste. Our server was awesome. Super attentive, friendly, and gave great recommendations. Overall, a great spot with tasty food and good vibes. Will definitely be back!

Zozo 's located in lakeside near Josef's bakery, walked in, greeted by friendly hosts and promptly seated. We made reservations through online portal. Highly recommended that, if you choose to eat at this restaurant. The restaurant is almost full when I walked in. The atmosphere is intimate casual dining. Greeted by the waiter, order appetizers and drink to start. We ordered mushrooms ravioli, penne with sausage and grilled chicken (mildly spicy), seafood cioppino, and Italian soda ( sherry temple ). The penne sausage with grilled chicken breast is delicious. The grilled chicken is nice and moist. The sauce is mildly spicy goes well with dish. Overall I enjoyed the dish. The seafood cioppino is also delicious. The garlic bread is good. Nothing special about the garlic bread. Came out piping hot. It was moist and soft, I enjoyed it with my dinner.

Small room but our group of six were able to sit together. Nice wine list and full bar. Some nice specialty cocktails and coffee drinks. Everyone was happy with their portions and had leftovers. Friendly staff.

A friend recommended we try this Italian spot out while in Reno and so glad we did. On Tuesday's you can bring your own borrow of wine with no corkage fee which is cool. Escargot was flavored well and the classic Moretti beer paired well with my steak. Will return here next time in town. The Cioppino could have had a little more sauce, but other than that it was great.

We had an absolutely wonderful evening at ZoZo's! Our party of five was warmly welcomed, and the service throughout the night was outstanding -- attentive without being rushed. Every dish at the table was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared along with ultra tasty! From our appetizers to the wine selection, not a single plate disappointed. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, making it the perfect spot for both a group dinner and a special night out. ZoZo's has quickly become one of our favorite old school Reno restaurants, and we'll definitely be back soon! BTW, they have expanded the main dining area to include the space that use to be for private parties in the past. Nice move!

Been a while since I've been to Zozzo's but for a birthday celebration decided it was time to return. We did make reservations because it was a party of six on a Saturday night so that worked out well. Was able to have a cocktail in the beautiful bar before dinner. Once seated out server and assistant greeted as immediately with waters and asking for our drink order which was taken care of promptly. We ordered appetizers and my soon-to-be 16-year-old granddaughter wanted to try escargot and so we did. We enjoyed seeing her discover a new food and she liked it! I have frequented this restaurant since 1990 and it is still as good as it was back then. My favorite dish is Zozo's chicken and it's the only thing I get when I come there with the raspberry vinaigrette salad. We also tried the clam chowder, the minestrone soup and the house salad which is a Italian vinaigrette. The garlic bread is a bonus. We also ordered the chicken Caesar salad, the pan roast which had the most delicious jumbo sized shrimp plus tons of other seafood, the pesto pasta, spaghetti and meatballs and a carbonara. They did offer birthday sundaes after but we were so full we passed. The drinks were strong, the wine was good and the food was delicious. Our servers checked on us continuously and even took a birthday picture. I will definitely return it as it was the girl's first visit to Zozo's I know they're going to have me bring them back.

Amazing anniversary dinner date! Love the staff and how beautiful the spot is! They even complimented a free sundae to celebrate! Thank you Becky, you were above exceptional! The food was 10/10 and highly recommend if you like Italian! Make sure you go online and add a reservation because they are busy for how incredible they are!!

Okay okay okay, I can't believe I have not gone here! I've only gone to three Italian Restaurants and Olive Garden is one of them, don't even think Olive Garden is naturally a real one so I guess just two in town. But my oh my, Zozo Ristorante was insanely delicious, I told my husband to take me here next time we go on date (went with a family member here to grab dinner) and it's insane that my own husband went here a long time ago and mentioned it was good and we just never bothered to go. I've kept tabs where's the best calamari I've eaten and now this place is on my list for it. The calamari was breaded perfectly and the sauce for it was great for it because it was different. I ordered the dinner portion of the mushroom ravioli and added blackened chicken, let me tell ya that it was 10/10! It included with the choice of salad or soup and bread. The best mushroom ravioli I've ever had so far. For dessert I ordered the chocolate mousse, also a good shareable portion and it was delicious. The inside of this place gave me the nostalgia of the 80s/90s for some reason. It seems like they kept it the same to when they created this place, I love it. The service was also very friendly. Thankyou Zozo for making this such a yummy Italian experience, I will be back soon!

It was time to update my previous review, considering that I hadn't been in to visit since the new ownership took over and my old friend, the outstanding Chef Kevin Ashton, had moved on. I wasn't sure what to expect, but, they've continued the tradition of fine food, ambiance and service. We have a large choice of fine Italian food restaurants in the area and this continues to be near the top of the list. Everything was delicious...no change in the quality. The classic dishes that they're known for are still on the menu, with some new stuff added. I'll be a regular again now that I've experienced this new iteration... When you make a choice to enjoy fine Italian cuisine in the area, consider going here...it's well worth the visit and you'll be glad that you did!

A lovely evening spoiled by terrible service…read more.. Friends had commented how much they loved La Strada, so we were eager to give it a shot. A small group of 6, we had reservations for 5:30 on a Wednesday evening. This should not have been a particularly busy time. Situated in the Eldorado Casino, the entrance to La Strada does not capture just how big and spacious the restaurant really is. Beautiful decor and hand painted frescos, the environment conjures up images of old Italy. With our early seating, our party was able to take advantage of "the early bird special" which included a starter (soup, salad or Ravioli starter) and a dessert, all for the price of the entree alone. Our evening started with a friend ordering an Old Fashioned. Prepared tableside, he was offered a few options of whiskeys. Once selected, the server put on a show, pushing smoke into a decanter. I don't know if this was his intent, but the two ladies sitting closest to the server were absolutely innundated with smoke, leaving their clothes polluted with the smell of a chimney. Once prepared, the smell of smoke in the drink was unmistakeable. My friend said and I quote, "this is absolutely the worst Old Fashioned I have ever had. Completely undrinkable". We passed around the glass and I will say the smell of smoke alone kept me from trying it. What a waste. Moving on to the food, our starters were "fine". Everyone ordered salads. Nothing remarkable. They were fine. Now I will say, for the most part the food was quite good. I ordered the Chicken "Mattone" which was a boneless half chicken, in a delicious sauce. It is normally served with Calabrian Style Roasted Potatoes but I passed on the potatoes, opting for more Brocolini. The Brocolini was prepared to perfection. My entire meal was fresh, deliciious and prepared perfectly. My wife ordered the Salmon. Her fish was prepared perfectly. The outer edge had a nice snap to it and the fish was moist and flaky. Delicious. It was served Smashed Potatoes, which I have to say were not my favorite. I would have preferred either roasted potatoes or just plain mashed. One of my friends orderd the Risotto with Scallops. A generous serving of Risotto, the meal looked great. Unfortunately, my friend said the dish did not compare to the last time he ordered it, on this night, the dish was soft and gummy. Not good. Unfortunately, the big spoiler of the evening was the service. Coming early mid-week, I would have expected better service. Our server, while pleasant, would often disappear, leaving us in need of refills and a general feeling of inattention. On one of the rare occasions he did stop by, my friend asked for another "Gin & Tonic". Simple enough. I don't know if he just forgot but the second drink took forever to come. Once done with our meals, poor service continued with taking forever yet again to get some boxes and finally get the check and run the credit cards. All in all, it was so unfortunate that an otherwise lovely evening was spoiled by bad execution. There are better options for fine Italian in Reno. Sorry La Strada, you are a pass.

The server was really good, helped me to find gluten free options and walk me through what I could eat and made a few modifications as well. I ended up having the chicken saltimboca and mashed potatoes. I didn't have any appetizers since most weren't gluten free and I hate olives. The food took insanely long, an hour and a half and everyone got their food all at once which I have no idea if it was planned or not. My mashed potatoes were cold but my dish was hot. By the time we got the food I was STARVING and I was too hungry to really slow down and eat to enjoy. The mashed potatoes were cold as I mentioned so the pacing was off. I'm leaning 3 stars for food, service was great but wouldn't come back if I was visiting because really, anything over 45 minutes to prep should be explicitly marked on the menu.

We arrived at 5 pm as soon as they opened, and three people were there waiting outside..they headed to the bar, we headed inside the restaurant. They gave us a nice table of two in the back and the music was amazing with a serious old school feel...I think finding a restaurant that still embraces the past is getting harder to find these days. Our waitress brought some fresh bread to the table as we ordered two beers from the menu. I noticed that this Yelp does not have wine listings anywhere, so I snapped some photos for wine lovers to get an idea on selection and price point. I admit that I looked at the actual menu and already knew what I wanted before I stepped foot in the restaurant....ricotta filled ravioli in a butter sage sauce....yes please! Hub thought he was going to get the fettuccini, but at the last moment went for the spaghetti bolognese. Both our dishes arrived and they looked amazing...Hub was taken by surprise that two meatballs were on his dish...I guess we didn't read the details, but the sauce was still heartily filled with meat...and he ended up eating the meatballs anyway. Both of us cleaned our dishes. As we got the final bill, we applauded the waitress with how much we liked it, and she informed us that the owner was back there doing all the cooking. By the time we left, nearly the whole restaurant was full by 6pm....on a Tuesday...Wow!

Situated on 4th, just off of McCarran, Johnny's is easily accessible from the West side of town. There was plenty of parking, which was nice. The restaurant has a old school vibe to it. Rich dark woods and a broody air to it. Legit. On the recommendation of our server, we started with the Garlic Bread. OMG. Was this delicious. A must order in my book. We also had the Polenta Pomodoro e Carciofo. Delicious Polenta, formed in a loaf then topped with grilled artichoke, tomatoes, mozzarella and topped with a white truffle oil. The Polenta wasn't for everyone but I personally throught it was delicious. The mozzarella gave the Polenta a rich savoriness that I enjoyed. The Artichoke brought a nice finishing taste to the dish. My wife ordered the Petrale Sole. A Grana Padano crusted fillet of Petrale Sole served with lemon-cream sauce, accompanied with angel hair pasta with fresh tomatoes & basil. I sampled the Sole, it was light, flavorful and delicious, with a nice snap of the outer crust. Nice. One friend ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo. You know you're in an authentic Italian restaurant when the pasta is homemade. Served with housemade fettuccine with generous serving of butter, cream, & Grana Padano Cheese. Then topped with hand grated Mozzarella. This dish sounded and looked amazing but if I'm being honest I would have preferred a more creamy finish to the Alfredo. The dish (sauce) just seemed very heavy. Another friend had the Spaghetti Bolognese. For an Italian restaurant to be good, you have to do the basics to perfection, in my humble opinion and Johnny's did not disappoint. While I did not personally try the spaghetti with meat sauce. The couple sharing the dish seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. Of course, the Spaghetti is homemade. Another dish was the Pollo al Raggio. A breaded boneless chicken breast with lemon, capers, mushrooms then topped with a white wine sauce and served with penne marinara. Johnny's does just a great job with breaded dishes. A nice crispiness on the initial bite but the meat is still delicate and juicy. Now I appreciate that I was at an Italian Restaurant but what can I say, I wanted a steak. The Steak is a 12 oz Certified Angus Beef N.Y Steak aged for 28 days, then marinated in olive oil & herbs and served with a creamy polenta. I gotta say, this was one good steak. Cooked to perfection, it was perfect. Chef's Kiss. It was nice to finish my meal with the same delicious Polenta that we started the evening with. Celebrating a birthday on this evening, a generous portion of desserts were ordered. Starting with the Tiramisu. I gotta say this was a really good Tiramisu. Sometimes bakers can get carried away with the Chocolate. My compliments to the Chef, this was the perfect blend of Lady Fingers, espresso and brandy and then finished with delicate dusting of chocolate and a proper dollop mascarpone. Next was the Pecan Ball. We had such high hopes for this dessert. Vanilla ice cream rolled in pecans and covered with hot fudge. In the end, this was nothing to write home about and way too expensive for what you got. This will be a hard pass for our next visit. The birthday girl ordered an Affogato. Which is Vanilla ice cream with a shot of hot espresso. If you enjoy that espresso flavor, this is the dessert for you. I don't like talking badly about the wait staff because they are the amongst the hardest working people. That said, for an elegant restaurant with the history of Johnny's, I was expecting more. Our waitress, while always polite just seemed a bit annoyed that she had to take care of us, like she was doing us a favor. We told her that we were celebrating a special birthday, asking if the birthday girl would get a complementary dessert. "We don't do complimentary desserts here". Okay fair enough. Often its not what you say but how you say it. Johnny's you can do better. Reflecting on the evening, everything was quite good. For a restaurant of Johnny's stature amongst the locals, I gotta say I was expecting more. Don't get me wrong, the food and desserts were all quite good, but I just wanted a bit more.
