Kids wanted to go there during the UNC-Duke game. They were convincing so I drove them the 2 minutes it takes us to get there from our house. It was worth it. They loved the milkshakes that the super friendly young lady made them. She took personal orders so my kids could make them any way they wanted. You want sprinkles mixed in with a topper of sprinkles as well? Ok. If cookies and cream with extra cookie topper is your thing, don't worry, they'll make it. Comfortable interior with festive decor and great little sayings. Nothing adds more to the mood than a funny saying that puts a smile on your face, in addition to the smiles on your kid's faces, and you forget that there was a basketball game going on. And, they are renovating to make room for tables and make it into more of a restaurant style eatery with more food options. Stay tuned...

Popped into Koolies yesterday before hitting the grocery store and it was just the Sunday pick me up we needed! We were so excited to learn that in addition to their Froyo, they also carry homeland creamery ice cream! We got our daughter the vanilla froyo with sprinkles and my husband and I opted to share the coffee ice cream with an array of toppings. Needless to say we ate every single bite! In addition to froyo/ice cream they also have pastries, coffee/lattes, and smoothies! The owner was present and was very friendly and personable. She told us that their next project is going to be working with a local bakery and proving treats such as ice cream sandwiches. We are SO excited about that! The establishment was clean and inviting too! If you're in the Summerfield area make sure to pop in and support these guys and to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Koolie's is a cool little frozen yogurt shop located in the Lowe's Foods shopping center on Church St at Hwy 150, decorated to look like your inside of an igloo. It's a serve yourself set up where you build your own creation from the available yogurt flavors that rotate, usually atleast 8 available, then head to the toppings bar which has a big variety of options to top your yogurt with and then you end up at the checkout where they weigh your cup and ring you up. They have about 5 small tables and a couple of easy chairs for inside seating, and an area outside also. Great place to stop on a warm day.

My triple-decker BLT was huge! Great proportions and plenty of juicy bacon, with a tasty side of well seasoned onion rings. My wife's chicken tostada came in a fried, crispy and fluffy tostada shell that was light and delicious. All of the kids loved sharing the tenders, boom boom shrimp, wings, and cheese curds. Everyone found something they liked -- the menu has a good mix for both kids and adults. The atmosphere is laid-back, with TVs on every wall showing just about any game you'd want. Our server was spot on, friendly and attentive. She was in the middle of training a new staff member who shadowed her the whole night, and she didn't skip a beat. It's a great local spot just minutes from home, and now with even better food. We will definitely be back!

They also charge a surcharge on "to go" orders, which is ridiculous, imo. Be sure to request extra napkins and eating utensils as needed, too, for carry out orders, as I'm sure limiting those is a cost management consideration for them. Positives include expansive menu selection and specials most days of the week. Staff are very friendly. Cons: Would not recommend coming here after the dinner hour. Quality goes down significantly at that point including inaccurate ingredients or totally wrong orders served, probably as full time staff head out for the evening. This assessment is based on several visits for me and my family, and feedback from friends and neighbors who also visit. Drinks are fine, and I mostly have their house margaritas which are often at a discounted price. Although outdoor seating is limited and it's in a walk-through area, if you time it right, you can sit outside and listen/watch the live music next door at Village Beverage most warm evenings. So, although overall hit or miss experiences and not a "top shelf" restaurant, I visit or order from here fairly regularly and will continue to do so until better options are available in Summerfield.

We were promptly greeted by a friendly server. To drink, I got a basic margarita on special. It came in a pint glass, so the serving was quite generous. Very happy with that! I opted for the vegetarian combo 1. The meal was fairly standard for a Mexican restaurant. I was surprised it didn't come with vegetarian refried beans or rice. The serving was a nice normal portion and I finished my meal without having leftovers. They were able to split our bill easily. Overall, I liked this place and would go again. An added perk is that they are in a plaza with lots of additional things to do.

After ordering, it took maybe 5 minutes to get our food which felt decent for the fresh food! There was a steady flow of to-go orders so it seems to be a popular spot. I ordered the Popper Topper Burger, although I do get the jalapeños on the side. I was expecting a little bit more to be honest. It was cheesy and delicious, but the patty itself was lacking any flavor. This was shocking because the menu described it to be "Cajun seasoned" but it felt very plain. The fries were my favorite part by far!!! Unlike other places, this had plenty of toppings. Normally, once you eat the top layer the underside is dry. Not here! I was covered in cheese sauce by the end of the meal. If you're in the mood for some really good fries, definitely check it out!

While the exterior is a far cry from the "vibrant patio" the restaurant description promises, the interior opens into a clean, bright space, which is more spacious than one might expect. On the front counter you will see an artistically designed menu board, depicting the many creative offerings available here. When I invited my coworkers to join me here for lunch, 2 immediately began ardently affirming my choice, regretful they could not join me but promising I would love it. In this moment, vague memories of them talking about this "really good burger place at the gas station" for months on end began to come back to me, as I realized they had been indirectly recommending it for a while. On the other hand, my 3rd coworker, who was in a separate room and had not heard their high praises, told me that it was "overrated" and "fine but not that special." Lol. Needless to say, I had absolutely no idea what to make of it all when I arrived. When I walked in, the woman behind the counter asked if I had ever been there, before patiently walking me through the various sections of the menu and helping me pick something out. I settled on the Popper Topper, which promised Cajun spices and fried jalapeño coins, among other various toppings. At its smallest size (big), it only cost $10.99. I also ordered bacon and cheddar fries. My initial impressions upon receiving my food (quite quickly, I might add) is that 1) the restaurant's name is perfect and 2) this is a very good quantity per dollar and an absolutely absurd calorie per dollar meal, especially in 2025. For right at $20, I got a huge burger and enough fries to satiate 2-3 people. I cannot fathom what the larger burger sizes look like, much less who could possibly be ordering them. The fries were everything I could have asked for -- crispy, salty, and with a very generous amount of both cheddar sauce and bacon (the perfect amount to have sauce on every bite but not be soggy). The burger was good, and definitely satisfied that primal craving for salt and fat that we all carry with us from hunter-gatherer days gone by. However, I wouldn't say it was particularly spicy, nor did its flavor deviate significantly from any generic burger I could order. Don't get me wrong, it was still delicious, but I was a little disappointed. I think that the fried jalapeño coins are breaded a little on the thicker side, which somewhat mutes the spice and slight acidity that they would otherwise add to this dish, to help cut through and brighten the other flavors. All in all, I had a great meal and would totally come back, but I don't think I've tried the "perfect" burger from here yet. Definitely going to recommend this to anyone in the area.

Our server was super fast & brought out some ice cream when we told her it was one of our birthdays. The inside is really spacious and modern. Unfortunately the food was what let me down which is the most important part. Full disclosure though - I'm not the biggest fan of Japanese bbq because Its very meat centered & I don't eat a lot of meat so I will say this review is just for the appetizers. The person I went with had the Japanese bbq and while it wasn't the best they've had, they did enjoy it. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of Japanese bbq, I really enjoy Asian food so I was excited to try other things on the menu. I ordered the pork gyoza and the cheese Rangoon. Pork gyoza is one of my favorite appetizers to get at Asian restaurants but these were just lacking flavor. They were really crispy but other than that, they were pretty bland. The cheese Rangoon was also really crispy which I love, but needed salt & other flavor. I was going to order the edamame too but after trying the other 2 appetizers, I wasn't feeling hopeful so I didn't. I would go back if someone wanted to but it's not a place I'd go out of my way to go to. They did have a pretty extensive menu so if I go back, I'll try a few other things.
