The hubby and I have been looking for quality and authentic Mexican food in Las Vegas. We have found amazingfood, great tacos, good burritos and decent upper level to high end places that are worth eating at. However, this find was the 1st place that combined real home made quality food, decor and service. La Vecindad is well known in the neighborhood and very popular with the Hispanic community, but has recently started to get some buzz in social media allowing more people to experience this amazing spot. The hubby ordered a bean, cheese & chorizo (Mexican sausage) burrito and I ordered a shrimp burrito since I didnt find lengua on the menu and i was not in the mood for cabeza(but def my next to try). This one was amazing. Shrimp in every bite. There was more shrimp than I knew what to do with, yet it didn't overwhelm the dish. The sauces, ingredients and everything combined is just incredible. I also ordered something that I have become obsessed with. Cafe de Olla. A Mexican coffee served in a small clay pot with pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread) and a stick of cinnamon. It is just a sweet treat that I am now experimenting with at home. This place gets a 5 star rating from both me and the hubby and we almost never agree. We have only ever agreed on one other Mexican restaurant. I can't recommend this place any more than I do. read more

Loved this cute place! My brother recommended it and glad I went because it did not disappoint. When you first walk in it's as if you are stepping into Mexico, so much color and loved the decorations. It was nostalgic seeing decorations from my favorite show that I watched as a kid " El Chavo del Ocho." I was excited to look at their menu and overwhelmed with choices. This place is too cute!! Everyone is in costume and there is a great atmosphere. Now, the area this restaurant is located is very sketchy. But when you step inside, it's a whole different place. Everyone was very attentive and everyone checked on the tables. There wasn't just one server assigned. The aguas were refreshing and the fajitas were delicious. The food was okay. To be fair we only ordered tacos , the tortilla is handmade and the meat was cold. The servers were friendly but they did not seem familiar with the electronic system they use to submit the orders to the kitchen. To those going expecting to see the staff in "costume" be aware that staff will be in regular uniform and I believe the "costume" is used on Sundays/weekends only -I'm sure the restaurant staff can clarify that. Overall , this place is overated and you are paying for a themed "experience". La Vecindad stood out at first glance. If you're familiar with 70's Mexican television sitcoms, you'll understand the nostalgic decor. Themed after a juggernaut of a show, El Chavo del Ocho. The restaurant resembles a cozy little neighborhood, filled with bright colors and show memorabilia. The lighting was a bit dim in the dining area, but if you've ever been to México it resembles eating late night on a local street filled with vendors. We were greeted and seated very promptly. After looking through all the dishes we ordered 2 appetizers and our food. We received our queso fundido which was lit tableside and also came along with a bit of an annoying siren, alerting everyone of what you just ordered. The queso was topped with chorizo and a jalapeño toreado (roasted jalapeño), accompanied with hand made fresh tortillas. This melted cheese was delicious and has a very huge portion for 2 people. Most restaurants that serve this dish use a low quality cheese and is drenched with fat when melted, not here. This is a must try. The fideo soup was definitely also 5 star. Perfectly balanced brought with al dente noodles. Just like mom used to make. The asada plate was delicious. Perfectly cooked, tender and juicy beef paired with refried beans and rice. The enchiladas were good, definitely a different flavor from what I'm used in Michoacán but still good nonetheless. There was an interesting little things we noticed as we were dining that really made it feel like home. The restaurant allows vendors to come in and sell items to you. We were offered several types of Keychains from one vendor and another that had artisinal made precious stone jewelry. This was my first time coming to eat here and I'm already planning what I'm going to eat on my next visit. Definite a place to come on a date or bring the family. My wife and I noticed people coming in straight from the airport, still towing their luggage. That should definitely tell you something about La Vecindad! read more

I saw a TikTok about this place so we decided to try it. It's pretty hidden, definitely not the best part of town but it's safe. The Chavo del Ocho theme itself is super cute! Cute photo opportunities if that's your thing. We came in on a Tuesday and it wasn't too busy. The staff was friendly, not very attentive though, and I feel that if I didn't know Spanish we would have had difficulties ordering. 2/3 kids got chicken taco plates. They both said the chicken was bland but the rice and beans were really good. Oldest had the carne asada and had no complaints. They all loved the aqua frescas. Husband had flautas w/no complaints, I had a chorizo torta which was also good. We had two bottled cokes. The price was pretty wild tho, not gonna lie haha. Wasn't expecting triple digits! We probably wouldn't go back since we live a lil far, but I feel everyone should go check out the theme and try it for themselves! read more

Portions are giant so get ready to share a plate. We shared a molcajete between 3 people and could've easily shared with 4. I had such high hopes for La Vecindad, especially because of it's strong 4.5 star rating on here. Complimentary chips and salsa were just ok. The chip quality wasn't very good, their consistency was off, some were burnt, some had an off taste. The salsa wasn't bad, but not good either, very one noted and too thin. We ordered the Kiko's plate and the taco plate. The Kiko's plate, is carne asada with shrimp in a spicy sauce with rice and beans. The asada quality was bad. A very cheap cut of meat, extremely tough. The shrimp, unfortunately, was no better. The sauce was basic. Not much thought was put into it. Like the salsa, it was one noted, nothing bad or good about it, just spicy. We liked the spice, but that was really all you got from it. Rice and beans were standard, nothing special. The taco plate comes with two tacos, but we added a third, so that we could try three different proteins. We went with asada, carnitas and pastor. I wish I could say the tacos were a hit. They were dry and flavorless, all three. I asked for salsa for the tacos, which I didn't get. So I asked another server, who gave me the option of three different salsas, to which I asked if I could get a small amount of all three, but I only received their green salsa. Wish I could tell you it was good. I don't mind giving corporate restaurants a low rating, but it hurts me to give a family owned business a low rating, but I just got home from this place and my wife and I can't stop talking about how mediocre it all was especially considering how high it was priced for such low quality cuts. If I came here, and it had a three star rating or the prices were lower, I might have a different outlook right now. $20 for a plate with three tacos ($14.99 for a two taco plate, plus an additional $4.75 for a singular carnitas taco), is a bit high to begin with, regardless of quality, but when you factor the price with the lack of quality, that's ultimately what makes you want to write a review. Outside of having to ask for salsa again and only getting the one kind, the service was attentive, though, we didn't have a dedicated server, so I wasn't sure if I could ask our food runner for things or if I had to ask someone else. We came for a coffee and Mexican bread and they didn't have any Mexican bread. This is in the middle of the day. We decided to order churros for dessert and a couple of orders of side bread with butter to have our coffee. There were 5 of us and for the bread, churros and coffee they charge us $60. They included a large party fee when we only had five people. They also charged a credit card fee. This place is overpriced and not worth it. read more

I forgot to take pictures but the menu is extensive and excellent! I never see Carne en su Jugo on the menu but they had it here so I know I had to try it and it was tasty and filling. Portions are not held back. My friend ordered tacos cabeza and carnitas and she said it was the best she ever had. They also hand make their tortillas. Salsas were tasty. Servers were all very attentive. They don't have a white wine (they only had white Zinfandel and Pinot noir). The location is in commercial center so not the best but it's worth the visit.
