    Shaking beef
    Jeremy R.

Friendly service as experienced everywhere in Texas. Combo vermicelli bowl had plenty of juicy pork and crispy spring rolls but needed more sauce. Pho had generous amounts of meat but was a bit salty. Shaking beef was tender with tons of garlic. Vegetarian soup was the best thing we ordered with lots of tofu and veggies. Service was patchy with soups coming out 10 minutes after shaking beef and vermicelli.

A good place to pitstop. The pork vermicelli bowl was really good and the sauces were good too. I like that they give levels of spiciness- I got a 3 and boy it was pretty spicy, so definitely don't punch above your weight here. The spring rolls were lackluster, filled with mostly noodles. Otherwise everything was good. Service was friendly and pretty quick.

Ordered via yelp through door dash - super simple, easy and was ready within 20 minutes. I've also come here numerous times for lunch and it's a nice spot to grab something and know that you will be in and out as quickly as you want to make your visit. I tend to stick with what I know and love, chicken vermicelli just because it's so good. They don't skimp on the chicken (see photo) and it's charred perfectly and the flavor is delicious. Lots of veggies and noodles as well. The egg rolls and spring rolls are also a must for an appetizer as well. So glad Lab C is here in Bastrop!

We have eaten at Lab C several times. Each time the food has been excellent. The flavors are great. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The service is fast and reliable. We have had several different dishes. Most of them come with salad and the carrots are fantastic. They are marinated and very tasty. If you love Asian fusion this place is for you.

Hello, giving this rate because I ate at y'all's place yesterday and was left with a bad experience, I communicated to your workers that me and my sister didn't like two of the plates, we placed an order of wings, soup and some meat and noddles, the wings tasted straight like garlic and very bitter, when I told the waiter this she said that you guys are not a wings place, then makes no sense this is on the menu, my sister was expecting different type of noddles on her plate, I also ordered a drink with boba, I was expecting the black boba, and when I talked to the waiter about it she said that I asked for classic boba and I thought that's what classic boba not tapioca is, if we get technical the tapioca it's the root/plant used to make the flour for the boba and if you look up classic boba on google you get the black boba. I communicated my issue being very respectful, not screaming or anything of that kind, didn't make a scene and I requested to talk to the manager and the waiter informed us that he did not want to talk to us which I think was very unprofessional and disrespectful. I would like a refund for the food we did not eat, cause at other restaurants I have been offered a swap of the plate, when I did not like the food , cause we were not planning to eat the food, and not trying to take advantage of yall. In overall the atmosphere felt like they were ignoring us.

Great local spot that is worth the stop! Staff is very kind and attentive, they engage with their customers which I appreciate. The food is reasonably priced and tasty, all fresh ingredients.

Meat used was low quality and flavorless. And the Bahn mi was not on a French roll. Fried rice appeared purchased pre-made and warmed up.

This review I dug up is from a while ago, things may have changed…read more January 2020 was my first time at Loro in South Austin. My companion and I went at 5 PM on a Thursday. There is a parking lot that was pretty full but not completely. Once inside, we took seats at the back bar where a buddy suggested we sit for faster service. We had menus and water within minutes, and our bartender was attentive the whole time. We ordered a mix of dishes that had been recommended and a couple more: Oak grilled Snap peas, Coconut scented Rice, Chicken Karaage, Tomato and Cucumber salad, Smoked Prime Bavette Plate, Smoked Beef brisket plate, and Chocolate mousse. For drinks we got Thai Berry smash and Mandarin Margarita. Overall, there was good flavor in all the dishes, with well-paired flavor combos, which is the standard Hai Hospitality sets. However, some dishes didn't have as bold flavor as I was hoping. The Chicken karaage could have been bolder. Surprisingly, the Tomato and Cucumber salad had more flavor than expected. The Prime Bavette and Smoked Brisket were great, though a bit pricy. Both of the drinks were excellent, but only got one each as we're not big on spending on alcohol with dinner. Normally I'd go to this type of place with high-end satiation expectations, such as at Uchiko, where actually filling up would cost a lot so I don't fill up and plan to eat a couple hours later. However, we were both full after eating the above, and even had a piece of brisket and some rice to take home. For the quality, the value is there. The service was great, the bartender checked on us multiple times, and gave us updates on what dishes were left to come out once we were about two-thirds through our order. Each time a dish came we got a refresher on what it was from the server, which I like. The place was about 1/3 full at 5 PM and 2/3 full when we left at 5:45 PM, with the volume-level rising. The speed and quality of the meal taken together is excellent-- we were in and out quickly and enjoyed our fine dining. The restaurant was a bit dark; I could read the menu fine, but one older gentleman had to use his phone to see the menu text. At the end of the meal, a small gift card helped lower the price so it was under 100 out the door. We ended up being very happy with the food and experience-- it was great, but it wasn't amazing solely because a couple dishes needed their good flavor to be bolder. No single item wasn't good, and a couple were exceptional, so I'd easily recommend this restaurant and would like to go back.

For $150/head you get solid Chinese food, with nice presentation. To me, if I consider the $150 price point for the meal, paying simply for presentation is not enough, especially if you consider other restaurants competing at this price point in the Austin area. Very few of the dishes had any real flavor advancements/innovations past the original Chinese dish it was based on. For example, the salt and pepper lobster comes out in this fancy wide wooden dish, filled with dried peppers, and then is seated on a textured stone bowl with sliced lettuce under the lobster tail. All to get 2 bites of typical tasting lobster. Was the lobster good? yes, but the general feeling is pay more to get better presentation, and less food for the money, not a food taste upgrade. To be fair, that may be what the restaurant is targeting. To contextualize Ling's kitchen, I feel as if you would be able to get a larger version of most if not all dishes, with similar quality in Houston for $20. For $150 you would be able to feed an entire family with drinks and dessert normally so I do not feel as if the money is worth it. Not much innovation on the flavors for the palate, but the food had very cute visuals. Service was nice, and the Chef's energy was infectious.

When you arrive, you are gathered in a side room with the other guests and served prosecco or tea, and a tasty opening bite. Our hosts were Nick and Mateo, and they were solid throughout the meal. If you want any wine/sake, you get that selected at this time (bottles only). We chose a sauv blanc from Round Pond, a CA vineyard where we'd visited with family years ago. Many of the dishes are seafood so this was a nice pairing. Once the group has arrived, you're seated around a giant and well decorated table in the actual kitchen. It's a super cool vibe with nice music and intimate lighting. Each course is announced with a gong, and thoughtfully explained, including the connection to Chef Ling and how to best enjoy. I didn't come across anything I didn't love, but I'll highlight a few of my favorites. The fried taro with spicy crabmeat aioli ate like a delicious crab cake! The dry aged Peking duck was a stunner, coming in a smoke filled wooden box. One piece was meant to be eaten in fluffy bun, the other to be enjoyed more purely. There's also a smoked duck tongue which is tasty, just trust me! There's also filet mignon was rich and tender, laying in a delicious green sauce. Chef's kiss! Midway through the meal you are invited to introduce yourself briefly to the table. You also get to walk around enjoy some extra bites and visit with the chefs. It was a charming and diverse crowd. A real slice of Austin. See my pictures for a good sense of what you're in for. You will definitely not leave hungry or disappointed. Chef Ling is present and makes her way around the table during the meal. She is kind and humble, but clearly knows what she's doing!

I asked for a sample, and found out that it was decent, so I ordered a full glass. My partner, Stuart, loved the hot and sour soup. He said that it was better than Qi's hot and sour soup. He really enjoyed the sesame chicken with the broccoli being a little crispy. As for my beef kare-kare, it was a new experience for me. I've only had this dish with oxtail. It is served with a lovely side of bagaoon for a burst of flavor. The leche flan was too eggy for my friend, but a nice reminder of home for me. I love when halo-halo has bits of flan on it. Today, it did, so extra flan always makes my day. Altogether, the food, cleanliness and attentive service give this restaurant 5 stars!
