I have been on a mission for the past year or so to try every indy coffee or pastry shop in LA County. So, when I spotted this one, tucked away in virtual obscurity in what I would say is Melrose Hill adjacent at Rosewood, I had to stop in. A really nice experience, all around. We were greeted in a very friendly way the minute we walked in. Yiun took our order promptly, which was caramel mocha coffees (hot) and cheddar chive scones. We also got two chocolate scones to take out. Next time we are going to try the scrumptious looking peanut butter cookies. Service was perfect and the order was filled so quickly, we barely were late for the next appointment. Parking is in the lot. See the pictures, they tell the rest of the story. (Not really sure I understand the name -- maybe someone else has figured it out.) Fun find!

About Cup of Excellence (Jun 2025)
    Luke L.

LaB Coffee & Roasters was opened in 2014 and has been run by Specialty Coffee Association certified baristas and roasters. It is also the only shop in Los Angeles to serve coffee that's won the Cup of Excellence (top 1% speciality coffee). LaB Coffee also operates LA Coffee College next door with The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Coffee Skills Program (CSP) & Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) diploma course available. [Parking]: The coffee shop is located in a small strip mall parking lot, but I was able to find a parking spot pretty easily on Saturday afternoon. [Amenities]: No public restroom, but the coffee shop got plenty of empty tables as the shop was not super crowded on Saturday afternoon. I actually think this is a solid spot to study or work for anyone who's looking for a more quiet environment. [Menu]: This is one of few speciality coffee shops in Koreatown that does NOT offer einspanner on the menu, so personally it is quite refreshing and the shop just goes back to the basic. The Yelp's top highlights include Vanilla Latte and Orange Bianco. *** Vanilla Latte (hot, $6.50): Vanilla syrup didn't completely overwhelmed coffee aftertaste and it was a great cup of latte. Matcha White Chocolate Scone ($4.95): Barista warmed it up and I was completely blown away by how good it was - not overly sweet with crunchy texture and I absolutely love it! *** I really like this coffee shop - return to roots and simplicity at its finest. Sometime a drink shouldn't be all about sweetened whipped cream and ceremonial matcha - at the end coffee should be all about high quality coffee beans and this shop has certainly accomplished it. S-tier latte and s-tier scone!

Welcome to LAB Coffee and Roasters.

LaB C & R is a local family-owned coffee bar in LA. They're located in a small plaza on Western Avenue. They have modest selection of coffee and tea drink on their menu. Moreover, they have some pastries albeit limited. Ambiance was relaxing with very spacious layout. I arrived early weekend morning to grab a Flat White. It was really good, a high quality coffee. Service was on point. Price was expensive for a small cup of coffee. Parking in the plaza is limited but plenty of street parking. Overall, I enjoyed my small coffee. I recommend this coffee bar.

    Orange Bianco

The orange bianco here is really good! Really happy to have a coffee shop near me that makes orange coffee well. The coffee is very rich in flavor and worth a slightly higher price since their beans are roasted in house. My drink had orange pieces in it which was very pleasant. There is space to study and get work done as well as outlets. I was able to snag a parking spot in the small lot in front for free but there's also metered street parking.

10 stars!!!!! I dunno what kind of coffee beans this place used to brew their coffee, but it was seriously fresh and amazing. My mom got a regular latte w/half & half and simple syrup. I took a sip, and I was hooked. The taste was perfect. No adjustment was needed. I wanted to take her latte lol I got the orange bianco. It was something new to me. I had coffee with fruits before but never with oranges?? I wasn't a fan of it because the latte definitely blew my mind. Hahha it was still good. I honestly didn't think it would be a good mix. Somehow, it worked. Fresh good coffee beans make a big difference in coffee. The scone was ok. It was a bit bitter for me. I want a latte now...from here : (

Cappuccino and Vegan Peanut Butter Cookie

Went for a post-Church coffee and came across LaB Coffee Roasters in K-town. The ambiance is very nice with some tables for a social time or doing work surrounded by many large bags of coffee beans. However, being that it is K-town, parking is TOUGH with a small lot. Service was good, as they greeted us warmly and were open to any available questions. This is a coffee roaster class as well as a coffee shop, and lets just say they got their cappuccino down to a science (hence, their namesake) and got a perfectly balanced capp! We also needed some food and got a vegan peanut butter cookie which was tasty, especially since it was vegan! If you are in the area, this is a nice shop to go to if you are willing to handle the parking situation!

I had an Americano here, I just wanted a straight drip to taste the beans. The coffee was good, I didn't think great, but the location was very coffee-oriented in vibe and decor, as they teach Barista classes here and seem very serious about coffee and coffee culture. I would try it again for sure and probably order a different drink. I guess the shop name LaB is because it looks a bit like a chemistry lab, which bodes well for coffee experimentation.

Go to different good flavor coffee cafe is one of my hubby. I did Google search then this place popped up. I ordered americano since it's late afternoon. I like order latte in afternoon but I wanted to taste coffee flavor. As soon as I tasted coffee I bought a bag for home. They roast coffee a few times a week. I love fresh coffee available cafe. If you are looking for fresh roasting you may want to try this one. They also have coffee class, that's looks interesting.

Super yums! Been here twice and got the Orange Bianco which seems to be their special drink. Not a huge orange fan so wasn't sure if I'd like it, but it's so delish. All of the flavors blend really well together, coffee is super smooth, and this drink is so addicting. Highly recommend :)

The baristas at Labcoffee are very knowledgeable about coffee. Every time I visit, they recommend the COE pour-over coffee of the day and provide great explanations about it. I love that the coffee is full of acidity, has a clean taste, and finishes smoothly without any lingering aftertaste. It's also wonderful that you can purchase delicious coffee beans from around the world, and the store itself is neat and well-maintained.

They lay down the ground rules when you walk in and let you know how the evening will go. The tea was 10/10 wow! I can't recall which one i kept coming back to but i had four cups. I love how informative they are of each tea blends and they really cater to everyone. Once you find a nice little cozy spot pray it's still available when you get up to go to the restroom or get more tea. You can't reserve an area the whole point is to meet others and socialize. There's fabric couches on the floor that are dingy and weird, people take up way more space than they should so you have to awkwardly wait for someone to get up and leave and take their spot. People are kissing and being super PDA even though you're one millimeter away from them. If an orgy started here I really would not be surprised. The tea is given to you in a teeny tiny cup, so you'll need to get up a lot to go get your refill and money's worth. Then you're worried some vulture will swoop in and take your spot. Looking around, I can see it's a very profitable place for them seeing as it's $50 a head for a pretty mid experience. This place is literally the definition of looks can be deceiving. It looks beautiful, spacious, and enticing on instagram but it's small and weird. If you're claustrophobic or easily grossed out, spare yourself. Oh, and if you have to go to the bathroom you'll have to go do that barefoot, too. It's also in a super sketch area so if you aren't lucky enough to get parking right out front then good luck. I want my $100 back. Do NOT recommend. Soo many better places in LA.

The smoked salmon sandwich was probably my favorite of the savory bites. The desserts were pretty, sweet, and fit the whimsical princess tea-room aesthetic well. Nothing was overly adventurous or fusion-y, but everything felt thoughtfully prepared for an elevated afternoon tea experience. The portions were surprisingly filling by the end too! Price: Rose & Blanc is one of the more approachable afternoon tea experiences in Los Angeles. Their standard tea service starts around $38 per person, while the more elaborate tea set runs about $50 per person and includes additional stuff. Given how expensive high tea can get around LA, the pricing feels fairly reasonable, especially for special occasions like birthdays, bridal showers, or catching up with friends. Ambiance: The ambiance is probably the biggest draw here. The entire space is decorated in soft baby pink with floral accents, chandeliers, vintage-inspired décor, and elegant table settings. It feels feminine, charming (not tacky at all!) and intentionally designed for celebrations, and of course Instagram photos. Despite being located upstairs in a bustling Koreatown plaza, once you're inside it feels surprisingly cozy and transported from the busy city outside. Service: Service was friendly and attentive throughout the tea service. Staff checked in regularly, explained the tea sets, and kept things moving at a comfortable pace without making us feel rushed. Since tea service is reservation-based and served during designated seating times, everything felt organized and structured. Most servers spoke both English and Korean yay Parking: Parking is easier than expected for ktown. There's a self-parking structure available in the building, though spaces can fill up quickly during popular tea times and special events. I'd still recommend arriving a little early to secure a spot.

Great teas and little finger sandwiches and pastries all at an affordable price of $30-50ish per person (vs. some other places which may go upwards of like $60-100 per person). The whole decor is cute with pink and white being the main motif of the tea room which is a stark difference from the plaza just outside. The dishware and tea sets are all so cute and the teas? Plenty of options. My wife and I tried out the pear and hibiscus teas respectively and they were just right: not too sweet. The sandwiches were great with slight asian influences to them. The pastries were my favorite though, nothing like a scone with butter and jam to go with your tea. Anyway, great teas, great food, great vibes, and great prices. What more do you need? A reservation? Yeah I suppose that helps too hah!

I arrived at Yi Fang (Los Angeles) on Sunday (around 12:48PM). Parking is very challenging. I'd parked at a nearby structure and walked over. Staff (receipt says Dinh) is very polite and hardworking. Dinh gave wonderful recommendations, and Dinh worked hard. My drink took one minute and 50 seconds. Fast! As mentioned, I enjoyed the Sugarcane Mountain Tea ($7.24 - 50% Sugar - Less Ice). It's refreshing, flavorful, and thirst-quenching. The ingredients are good quality, and I felt happy & satisfied as I sipped. On ambiance, Yi Fang (Los Angeles) is cozy, clean, and small. However, it shares a space with Matcha Ren, so the spot feels larger. On its own, there's one corner table, but I appreciated how the table had an electrical outlet adapter with extra plugs and usb ports.
