At 8:30 AM, the place was pretty quiet. My wife had the iced matcha with soy milk. I had the iced matcha with almond milk. The taste was good. I wished the matcha was a bit stronger. My wife ordered the egg sandwich on brioche bun. She loved it. I ordered the prosciutto sandwich. It was solid. The blend of prosciutto, arugula and pesto sauce on a baguette was amazing. I've been into Project Bloom Coffee before, but came back in because another establishment is still in negotiations with their workers. I waited patiently as they open at 8 am on Saturdays and I didn't realize I strolled in at 7:55. I perused their plant selections and if I hadn't been going to an all day meeting, they probably would have been out of five of those plants along with the lavender latte and Spanish Latte I stopped in for. My lavender latte was smooth and not overly sweet. It was just right! It hit the spot without the jitters. My friend who enjoyed the Spanish latte said it was like a churro in a warm cup! Such a cute café in Melrose! The hojicha latte with the cream top was 1000/10, super creamy with these smooth, roasted, almost chocolaty notes that made it really comforting and easy to drink. Definitely a great option if you want something cozy and you can adjust sweetness. Also ordered the egg and bacon sandwich and loved it. The bread was fluffy, the sandwich came out warm, you can tell their sandwiches are made fresh and THE BACON WAS CRISPY The space itself is lovely with plenty of seating and lots of greenery and plants, which makes it feel calm and welcoming. They also host creative events, and the whole aesthetic fits the name so well. Cin and Lydia were super friendly and gave great recommendations. Cute little floral inspired cafe! I stopped by on an early morning to get some caffeine. The baristas were friendly and kind, which really matched the vibe of the whole place - blooms everywhere and a cute/peaceful atmosphere. I got to try Project Bloom Coffee's pop up at BlackMarket in Sawtelle, and I think it's a MATCHA made in heaven! Matcha has recently become such a trendy drink because of the Hailey Bieber/LA hype, and I'm lowkey tempted to gatekeep this spot since there's currently no long wait at this pop up location. They hand whisk their matcha fresh to order, and use actual ceremonial quality matcha powder from Japan, making for some of the BEST quality matcha drinks I've ever had. The baristas kindly gave us free matcha samples (without pushing us to buy anything), and we ended up buying the Bloom Matcha (which has a matcha cream top) and the Lavender Matcha Latte. This review is long overdue because Project Bloom has been one of my haunts for years. A coffee shop/flower shop hybrid, it's a beautiful spot to grab a bite, bevvies, and blooms. Whether you want a single rose or something more unique for a special occasion, you'll find it here. The decor is minimal and nature-inspired with live lush greens and soft woods. The baristas and owners are incredibly warm, friendly, and fast. I love their ice oat chai and their bloom matcha. The latter has a butterscotch cream top which is delicious. I go crazy for their egg sandwich and always gobble it up before I remember to snap a pic. The potato bread is soft, the eggs are plentiful and perfectly scrambled and the sauce is chef's kiss. In keeping with my mission to find small, indy coffee and pastry shops all over the southland, I stumbled on Project Bloom. What a delightful surprise. Mainly, coffee and flowers. Why not? Why doesn't every florist have a coffee bar and conversely, why doesn't every coffee spot fill the place with greenery and color as does PBC? PBC is clean, brightly lit, filled with atmosphere, soft colors and, well, blooms! The coffee is the main star but there are some pastries too. We had a Spanish Latte and a Lavender Latte. The latter was the best I have ever had, possibly due to the fact that they make their own lavender syrup. Smooth, flowery, delicate, elegant flavor paired with superb Arabica coffee served at the right Goldilocks temperature. Sonny and Cin welcomed us and made our order so fast that we were reluctant to leave and go back to the real world, LOL. They have been at this location for two+ years. I hope they will stay forever. If there is one caveat: the parking lot is small and fills up quickly but there are people coming and going. A little patience and you will get a spot -- it's worth it, trust me. read more

The match was super strong but also we ordered the wrong thing from the menu (not the one that was sampled). Our matcha milk was bland and has no sugar at all. The sugar is extra? What an adorable, delightful little oasis of joy and coffee! Project Bloom might be tiny location, but it's absolutely packed with personality, from the smiling baristas to the flowers and nicknacks surrounding the space. The food and drink reflects that unique personality. I got a lavender latte, created with a house-made lavender syrup, and it's one of the most unique coffee beverages I've ever tried. I blended a perfect sweetness and espresso with a light herbal flavor. Honestly, I'm already addicted and am sad that I don't live close enough to become a regular. For food I had the ham and cheese croissant. It was perfectly baked and glossy and flakey all over. But more importantly there was a surprise inside: grain mustard and pickles?? I imagine some people might not appreciate that, but my god standard ham and cheese croissants are going to pale compared to this going forward. I'm a seasoned veteran of Project Bloom. I've been coming here with my partner since they opened in 2023 and I'd call this place my second home. Everyone on the entire team is super friendly, personable, kind, patient, and just good people. They're not here to just make drinks, but connect with the community and be PART of the community. Parking is super convenient but can get busy (because their drinks are bomb!) but there's metered parking if you can't snag a free spot (I'll admit sometimes I just go in and out without paying the meter, and no ticket yet). They offer seasonal drinks that rotate, keeping the menu fresh and exciting. I'd recommend trying a favorite and something new! Don't be afraid to ask for a custom drink combining elements of another (raspberry cream top on a matcha latte was my everything). The baristas are constantly innovating new drink combinations and never miss. As if it can't get any better, their food.... the egg sandwich... to die for. Fluffy, Thick. Savory. All the amazing parts of a great breakfast sandwich. Their pastries are always fresh and yummy. Check out the little knick nacks while you wait for your drink, or grab a beautiful bouquet of flowers for yourself or special someone. Bloom is a place I can finally call "my cafe", and I can always rely on them to know my drink before I get through the door and greet me with a genuine smile. The second closest coffee shop to me. I am all for the thousands of independent coffee shops in LA. It's elusive why anyone would literally put Starbucks in their phone when there's such a selection here. And yes I have to try any specialty pastries available. The weekends here offer matcha donuts which I may have had once ever at MochiNut or something. They weren't cream filled though. Honestly I say just come for this alone. It is light and delightful, and why I eat salad for lunch. The cream melts in your mouth. Coffee and donut added up to about eleven bucks which is steep but you pay for a Melrose address so understandable. You could be spending your money on worse stuff. Very cute hidden gem. Dang, the sweet cream on certain coffee drinks here is laid on thiccccc!! It's amazing. Cream 'stache after every sip. Really glad I caught eye on the winter menu because I very much enjoyed the velvet mocha. The cream cheese top with the melted chocolate layer is sooooo delicious. Whole drink sounds decadent but surprisingly it's not overly sweet. Definitely one of my favorite creative coffee drinks that I've tried to date. I also tried the original bloom latte; bold butterscotch taste in the cream for sure. Not fully on board with the prosciutto sandwich though. Baguette is quite tough and prosciutto is a little crusty. Super friendly staff here. Mainly a grab-and-go spot (only a couple of small tables). This is my partner and I's favorite coffee spot! We love the bloom lattes, which are like cream topped lattes, my favorite is the lavender one with butterscotch cream top! They're not too sweet and they're all made from scratch right in front of you. The matcha and mocha bloom lattes are delicious as well. The little pastries are super tasty and fairly priced! The lemon bars are actually pretty filling for their size, and I love that they're not too sweet or sugary. They're just flavorful :) Everyone here is super nice and welcoming, the service has always been fantastic. If you're around the area I would suggest visiting this cafe! They have fantastic service and their drinks are always top notch and literally made with love. I usually get their matcha latte or their seasonal drinks if it catches my eyes. Btw their cream topper is always so AMAZING, could literally drink it everyday haha They even sell flowers/plants! It's pretty unique since you can't really find cafes that sells them and they are all so pretty. Plus this cafe has their own merch too.
