We hosted our engagement party at Labriola a few weeks ago. We had about 100 people and we were given nothing but wonderful feedback. It was on the outside promenade, in late October, and was absolutely perfect for what we wanted. When we walked in, we knew it was "The Place". I was worried that it would be too cold, with it originally being an outdoor area, but it was not. The walls and heaters put up, made the room warm and comfortable. The room was beautiful, with a fun and cool vibe. The food was amazing, the ambiance was perfect, and I can't say enough about the staff. We worked with Alexa to plan the whole party and she was beyond helpful - Everyone was! They even threw in a few little fun touches at the end. Reservation made for inside at 5:30 on a Saturday because they do not let you make reservations for patio. Fortunately was able to get a patio seat for 3. Got the deep dish with pepperoni and sausage. It was very good but not what I expected. It is focaccia style dough. Very airy and doughy. Not crispy at all. When I'm back in Chicago... D2 and I were staying downtown for a volleyball tournament and this came highly rated from a friend. It was a short walk from our hotel and so conveniently located if you're in the Magnificent Mile area. We were greeted and seated promptly. We shared the calamari fritti and it was delicious. She had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and she said it's the best she's ever eaten. I had the gnocchi a la bolognese and it was delicious. It was so much food that we had to bring our leftovers home with us. We even went back 2 nighs later, it was THAT yummy to us. Second time around we shared the steak and frittes and the margarita pizza. Again so yummy. It can get loud inside. Tables are close to each other. Went here on a Saturday night and the place was packed and very noisy. I don't know why people were literally screaming. We ordered salad and chicken alfredo pasta. Both were average. I didn't feel the authentic italian flavor with pasta. Overall very average food. Do NOT order this. -oyster bay sauv blanc - y i k e s... on top of this coming out halfway through our meal (we thought they had forgotten and were going to be ok w that), they brought this wine out WARM. At this point, we were like ok...we just want to leave -eight finger cavatelli - the pasta tasted like rubber and overall, this dish was less than average. I did like the sauce, though. Keep in mind they take about 20-30 minutes to get that out for you so order once you get there. The peas gnocchi was alright. I enjoyed the texture of the gnocci but I think the sauce was lacking flavour. It was a bit plain for us. Meanwhile, I had ordered their seafood linguini. It was absolutely delicious! Was seated very quickly and the hostess was very friendly and accommodating. I went with the margherita pizza, garlic knots and the pinky twist mocktail for my order. My server was extremely friendly and I love how I was told that the pizza would take around 25-30 minutes. The garlic nuts came out almost instantly, but they are absolutely delicious. They're not hard and they are sprinkled with Parmesan. And they're light and fluffy. My water is refilled often which shows that the workers care about their customers and are keeping an eye on tables. I finished all three garlic nuts, completely forgetting that I have a Margherita pizza to eat as well. The pizza arrived well done which I love. The crust is very thin has an amazing punch to it and it's also light along with the garlic knots, which allows me to eat more than expected. Got to three pieces of the pizza and was STUFFED! The pizza was great, and I love how it wasn't floppy and was pretty sturdy. Overall great experience and would highly recommend to anyone who's local or makes a visit to Chicago. The restaurant is located in Streeterville, known for good bars and restaurants, but more importantly, the location is within walking distance to everything. We ate in the private dining room where we made pizza, ordered pizza, and had a selection of amazing appetizers and desserts. I was absolutely blown away by the service, the quality, and most of all the taste of the food. Our server made some good suggestions on what to order and also gave us a heads up on the eta beforehand. Going against the norm, we ordered the thin crust pizzas here. rlly lovely experience at Labriola! although they're known for deep dish my friend and i were more in the mood for steak & pasta so we split the spaghetti and meatballs and the steak. the food was great but the service here is impeccable. we had 4 people at our reservation and 2 of them were an hour late, so it would have been perfectly reasonable for them to say they couldn't wait for them but they were so nice about it and didn't mind at all. while ordering one of my friends and i mentioned we were splitting 2 dishes and they brought out our meal already split for the 2 of us!! i've never rlly had service like that before and it was greatly appreciated!! the restaurant itself is HUGE so it's kind of a perfect stop if you're being touristy downtown & don't plan for a reservation because i doubt there's ever really a wait. read more

We had dinner here last night with friends who were in town from the West coast. We all loved our meal. Our friends wanted deep dish but they also have kids who really enjoy steak and salmon. So I found Labriola near their hotel since it had everything on their list, and wasn't too pricey. And plus plus that you can make a reservation. :) My friend has actually had Giordanos and said she likes the sauce to meat ratio of the deep dish here. So I'm happy she enjoyed it. I ordered the shrimp cacio pepe. It was delicious! And a big serving, I had some to take home! My husband ordered the steak frites and he really liked it. It was a fair size and under $40! I wish they had a kids menu. But I ordered my 3 year old the 10" pepperoni thin crust pizza and it was perfect for her. She had 2ish sliced and then my husband was able to have a slice or two and then we took the rest home. We were sat at a long high top table right by the door. (There was 8 of us in total) when making the reservation..I should have added that we'd have 4 kids with us so that they'd slate a normal table for us. I did see bigger tables in the back when we walked to the bathroom. But I guess it's not that big of a deal. I will for sure be back! It was very noisy and crowded inside, but we were seated quickly at our reservation at a high top table. The server was very knowledgeable and friendly and suggested ordering a deep dish pizza early as they can take 30 minutes to prepare. I tried the peach Bellini cocktail which was tasty, strong, and not too sweet. We had the zucchini frite starter which was large and delicious. Very light and crispy and not too greasy or oily. Highly addictive! We also had to try a deep dish pizza and went with the pepperoni. It actually arrived much faster than expected. However, our other entree (Richie's lemon chicken) took absolutely forever to the point we thought they forgot about it. The pizza was decadent. Tons of stringy cheese and fresh tomatoes. It seemed a little short on pepperoni, however, as there were many bites without pepperoni which seemed weird. It's definitely hearty and filling. The chicken entree was ok, but it was not anything too special. It actually lacked substantial lemon flavor and seemed more like just a sautéed chicken. We came in for happy hour and it was a great deal! They recently updated their happy hour menu and the menu does feature two slides and a lot of drink specials. The service was quick and our server was lovely. The place quickly fills up and has a cozy Italian restaurant vibe to it thanks to the dark word around. I personally went for the mulled wine since it was cold outside, but their choice of sparkling wine is a good option for happy hour. The other two members of my party got the white wine which they really liked. Food: - nothing mind blowing but it did fill our bellies up! - the slides were pretty standard and on a pretzel bun - the ricotta vodka pasta is delicious! Not the best the had but it did fulfill my pizza craving - I wouldn't go back for the Budino dessert. A very clean, roomy dining area with a bakery attached which was very popular. Staff was very attentive, professional and service was prompt, with exception for the pizzas which are understandably a wait (I believe our was 20 minutes and the place was almost empty when we were seated. ) We ordered the Danny special, 12", which it did not disappoint. The crust was light, flavorful and the sauce was perfect, (a bit sweet if you like that). There was richness on the meats and cheese. The pieces were cut in squares which made it easy to eat and not clumsy and awkward with larger pieces that are heavy and flop over onto your plate. The server said the chef recently changed the recipe and added chicken broth to make it more creamy. I knew better and should have immediately changed my order. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and were told that we could not be seated despite the abundance of empty tables, which is fine, I understand policies are policies. But the hostess was rude about it and made it seem like we committed a crime for showing up earlier than our reservation time. Anyway, once we were seated it took forever for someone to come take our order. We ordered 2 alcoholic beverages and our food. The food came out and was incorrect. When we told the waiter he became very defensive and said "well I told them what you told me". No apologies were made. The drinks came out way later after we asked what had happened to them and they were AWFUL. We ordered a guava drink that had absolutely nothing to do with guava and just tasted bitter. The manager came over and very kindly asked if he could replace our drinks. The second round of drinks was just as awful but we were too embarrassed and over it at this point to speak up again. We started off by having the most gorgeous bread- perfectly crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. For the main course, I ordered the Eight Finger Cavatelli. I have never had noodles like these before- they were all pretty oddly shaped and very thick. We came here the day before the marathon, what our waiter dubbed "the busiest day of the year." We enjoyed our experience here and our waiter Patrick was nice and efficient. We ordered the Tavern-style thin crust 12" Pepperoni Thin Crust, the Brussel sprouts, garlic knots, and limoncello. The pizza was delicious, and my partner was looking for tavern-style, since apparently that's also a type of pizza that Chicago is known for. The crust was flaky but not dry and there was plenty of cheese, though of course not as much as a deep dish pizza. The Brussel sprouts were also delicious and perfectly crunchy and had good flavors. My partner enjoyed the limoncello as well. The only weird thing was the garlic knots. Our waiter recommended the dish since this establishment started out as a bakery and specializes in bread. However, when we got them they had the consistency of a croissant - flaky and moist, but it's just not what we were expecting for garlic knots. And since there's a lot going on with the croissant texture, it made it more difficult to actually taste the garlic on them. They were good, just not what we expected. All and all, we had a good visit. However, they were pretty off with their time estimates through and through. They quoted us 35-40 minutes to get seated. But when we received our text message, it was less than 10 minutes. Then our waiter quoted 30-35 minutes to bake our thin crust pizza and 45 minutes to bake our pizza but we ended up getting our thin crust pizza in 10-15 minutes. Had late lunch at Labriola with my family of nine. Been there before food in general is very good, service is often very slow. They have very good pizza grandkids love it but you have to order very early takes much time to get to the table. The lunch for 9 appetizers very good and all came out together although one was missing. Dinners were all over the place time wise. Chicken Parm very good but mine came out 10 minutes after my son-n-law next to me. Pasta dishes were good but same all came out at different times and pizza for kids was the last thing to come out lucky they ate most of appetizers. Waiters tried but they're either not enough of them or they are just slow to support large tables although a table of 4 next to us complained about the same. Overall 3 stars all due to service and everyone eating at different times. Prices reasonable for Chicago. They also shorted us an appetizer and charged us for it.
