This was a very pleasant dining experience! We made RSVPs day-of, but this restaurant is big enough to be able to accommodate any additional walk-ins. The restaurant was beautiful and thoughtfully decorated, I especially loved the flowers lining up on the balcony! My group ordered: crispy calamari, honey citrus arugula salad, four cheese tortellini, 12in Danny's special thin crust pizzas, and 2 melon spritz. Everything tasted delicious, fresh, and balanced. We would definitely reorder the same dishes and would love to return another time to try others! Shout out to our server (Kyle) for being attentive, polite and giving us honest suggestions about portion sizes! We had just enough food to feel filled and satisfied.
This was not my first time at this restaurant and I've always been satisfied with the service and the food. This time, both service and food was off. I stood at the interior host desk for about 10 minutes, several people had walked past me with out stating the checkin desk is on the patio which no one there either. I was finally seated. Since I'm familiar with the menu, I decided to go for the Richies Lemon Chicken. The meal was delivered within appropriate time. The breading on the chicken was so soggy and it was falling off the chicken. Bryan, server, did check in with me couple of times. Overall, the food was okay. There's a patio with plenty of smaller tables available. The bar / interior bar area is very lively with the bar and various sizes of tables. I've never found it area to be load. I would go back to since I've always had a great experience.
Enjoyed a lovely dinner here with my daughter recently. The wait staff was excellent, as was the food. We shared the short rib ravioli and a pepperoni pizza. Both were delicious. The bread service was also good, and I loved the salty creamy butter. Vibe here is warm and friendly. I'd definitely visit again!
The wait wasn't bad at all. The hostesses and server were so hospitable, it's been a while since I had that. The ambiance was nice everyone seem to be enjoying themselves. The food was was really made to order. We ordered a salad which was enough for two people. We also ordered the Italian Beef Giardiniera pizza 10" pizza. Yes, it was thin crust and it was delicious. Dessert was my favorite, Tiramisu. It was huge! No pics of the pizza because we dove in so fast. Definitely a go to when I'm m in Chicago
When in Chicago, one must try pizza. We were in search of a deep dish pizza and this place was close to our hotel. .7 mile walk and we were there. We booked our dinner vis OpenTable and when we got there we were warmly greeted and seated. I didn't realize this place was big and crowded. Good thing for reservations!! We had a delicious Caesar salad and tried the deep dish pizza (pie). I asked the waitress about the size since I was going to get the larger but she suggested the smaller since it was filling. I barely finished two slices and had plenty to take home!! It was crowded and packed so the noise level was loud but we were able to hear each other and enjoyed our time there.
Although this spot is known for its deep dish, this may be some of the best pasta I've had in a while. We snagged a last minute Saturday reservation and were able to get a seat outside. If the weather allows, I would highly recommend this. It was quite pleasant, and inside seemed like a sports-bar vibe. I ordered the Heirloom Tomato Gnocchi, which includes Housemade Ricotta Gnocchi, Heirloom & Cherry Tomatoes, Stracciatella, and Basil. It arrived promptly in a charming blue and white bowl. The gnocchi was soft and flavorful, and the tomatoes were cooked to perfection. Oftentimes I find that cheese in pasta doesn't last more than a few bites, but the gooey stracciatella stayed delicious throughout the dish. The Pinot Grigio complemented it nicely, making it the perfect way to end a summer day.
Went for friend's bday dinner and overall had a pleasant dining experience. Our server was fantastic and very helpful all evening. Although we didn't try out the pizza, our pasta dishes were very flavorful. I would recommend the chicken parm and also an espresso martini (if that's your thing). We celebrate with comp sorbet for the bday which was very nice. Overall would recommend trying out for a classic Italian fare/vibes.
Stopped here on the way to Wisconsin for deep dish pizza and it was so delicious! We got the pepperoni deep dish pizza with onion and it couldn't have been more perfect. The sauce was so flavorful and delicious. Service was slightly slow and took about 15 mins for the sever to come to us for the first time but didn't effect our experience much. Our sever was very kind! I also got a margarita which you could tell was high quality and delicious. Be aware that it is more of an expensive restaurant. Would come back.
Had an unplanned lunch here on Sunday for Mother's Day. I had the spaghetti with chicken instead of beef. The sauce was to thick and tasted much like spaghetti-os out the can. The flame broil taste from the chicken was good and also the garlic bread. Service was not great. By the time my waitor checked back in, I was done eating and asking for a to go box. The atmosphere is good for a variety , date night, or lunch with friends. It seemed casual but a few people were dressed business casual. This place was nothing spectacular from the food to the service. Most likely, I wouldn't eat here again.
I visited here around 7:18pm on a Wednesday night with my 2 sons to get dinner. This was recommended by a staff member at my hotel for having good pizza. (Note: I am on a mission to find the "best" pizza in Chicago). The restaurant was busy on arrival but the aroma was very pleasing when I walked in. At the host stand, I was told it would be about a 10 minute wait. We only waited 5 minutes before being seated at a high top closer to the bar. A person came at 7:26pm to give us waters and the waiter came about a minute later. We ordered at 7:36pm. I ordered us a 12in pepperoni Chicago thin crust pizza and a 12in russo sausage pizza for the 3 of us to share. I wanted to try both the deep dish and the thin crust. I also got us garlic knots as an appetizer. For a beverage, I got the barrel aged manhattan. The waiter stated his name was Ozzie, after we ordered. My beverage came at 7:39pm and it was delicious. At 7:44pm, a staff member brought over fried mozzarella, which the waiter put in instead of garlic knots. Waiter came over to double check what I ordered and corrected the mistake. The garlic knots came 2 minutes later. The done of the 3 varies with one being cooked perfectly, one being in the middle, and one being a little over cooked. The one I had was delicious, especially paired with the sauce. The pizza came at 7:55pm and boy was it a lot of pizza! So much so, that we now have lunch for tomorrow, haha. The deep dish was definitely better than the deep dish pizza I had at another local place. I have mixed feelings about the thin crust. The pepperoni was crispy, which was great, and I liked the seasoning; i was not too found of the crust though. Overall, I'd say it was a positive experience. In the group behind us, there was a birthday and they gave them a dessert with a sparkler candle. It was nice!
I came here for Chicago Restaurant Week which was a walkable distance from The Bean. I chose this place mainly for the price point and the four course pre fixe menu. This was a perfect choice for 6 ppl! Place is casual, meant for relaxed dining that welcomes weary shoppers into its warm ambiance. I chose the following (I think these are half size portions and possibly the dessert being full size). Caesar Salad Rigatoni Alla Vodka - Perfect portion size and loved the vodka sauce. Pistachio Crusted Whitefish - Despite the unappealing plating, this dish was pretty good! Portion size was kinda small but since this was a four course menu, it's to be expected. Tiramisu - This was mainly Mascarpone mousse. I had barely any ladyfingers in my dessert. Service was pretty good. The waitress and staff checked on us quite often despite the restaurant being busy. Solid choice for the amount of menu items you get per person.
I've dine here multiple times throughout the years picking this spot in the summer because of the ideal location and outside seating options which is comfortable for people watching. Yesterday I finally wanted to try their "deep dish" which is $22 plain cheese but mostly chopped salty tomatoes, very little cheese, a caramelized outside crust that's burnt and crisp and a very soggy bottom layer that wasn't very tasty or remarkable. I will say my pyrenees absolutely relished the two slices I fed him and that's what matters most but if you're a picky eater like me who expects more taste and interesting spices this skinny version of deep dish may disappoint you. I am a native Chicagoan and I've sampled and enjoyed a wide variety of deep dish variations both within the city of Chicago and the neighborhood burbs surrounding the city. I found the chopped tomatoes to be way too salty and the crust at the end to be too burned to my liking. I found out after dining outside that there was a happy hour going on when I arrived but it's only available to customers who dine inside and choose the bar section with the high top tables making it impossible to order from that menu if you brought your dog with you to enjoy outside eating. Even though the pizza was a generous size it didn't have much creativity or taste just a load of salt. I thought the staff and service was excellent but overall the prices here don't match the quality of food you expect for the prices. Not my first pick for deep dish but a relaxing spot to enjoy outside dining. You can order a lunch deal by dining outside but none of the happy hour items.
Great service. The staff were friendly, waiter was attentive, and they have separate staff for taking plates and filling water which circulate the entire meal. The interior is very cozy with a good amount of seating. We were happy to have a reservation as it was busy. Food was good. I had an Aperol Nero to drink, and for dinner, Linguine Fra Diavolo. Overall good taste - calamari was impossible to chew through - likely overcooked in the red sauce. Thank you for an overall good experience!

We just stopped in for a quick drink so I'm just reviewing on the bar at happy hour. It was a Wed afternoon around 3, not busy. Easy to find seating at the bar. Right when happy hour started!! The spicy mango cocktail is the best!! Originally I tried the tart cherry cocktail, but wasn't impressed. Just felt like a typical vodka cocktail with a hint of fruit flavor, in this case cherry as opposed to cranberry or something. So I opted for the spicy mango next and ended up having a second one after that it was so good! Not spicy in an intense way just a tiny hint that entices you. Tried the crispy calamari, good but nothing crazy. Ordered a meatball slider and a chicken Parmesan slider. My favorite was the meatball slider and it's a GOOD size!! Enjoyed it so much and ate it so fast I forgot to snap a photo! And the happy hour prices are such a great deal this place is totally worth stopping in!!! Just make sure you get the spicy mango cocktail and meatball slider. You won't be disappointed. read more
Labriola is a great spot for quality deep dish! This is a great location downtown / a great spot to bring your visitors for good pizza that isn't way out of the way and has a nice restaurant feel. One thing that stands out to me is that they have a variety of menu items other than pizza or pasta, so an option for a group if there's one person that isn't a huge pizza fan. The basil and burrata deep dish was delicious! The two of us split the 12" and only made it through half (2 slices pp is plenty). I enjoyed the crispy crust which is much better than Lou malnatis in my opinion. Not my all time favorite ever but a good second, and I'd definitely recommend to others and come back again!! read more

This place is great! I really appreciated that you could find out they're open reservation times through the OpenTable app. Given that we didn't plan ahead of time. It was nice to see that they had reservations when we were looking for them and we didn't need to plan super far ahead of time. We went on a super busy Saturday night, and there were still a few tables available. I cannot believe how giant this restaurant is. It sees so many people. The food was really good. I had a hard time, deciding between all the different entrées in between pizzas or pasta. We opted for pasta and it was awesome. The Nocchi it's like soft little pillows. They're super fluffy and scrumptious. I wish I had room for the deep dish pizza, but the meals are big and you can only fit so much in. I would definitely go back. Service was really good too. Located just a block of the Magnificent Mile and framed by the "Ristorante" sign, Labriola is a large, old school styled Italian eatery serving up all the classics, including Chicago deep dish, along with a few new-age items. Additionally, their restaurant group also owns the neighboring Stan's Donuts, so if the tiramisu doesn't do it for you, you can cap off your meal with something sweet next door. The space is quintessential old-school Italian with an updated feel. There is a spacious interior with decorative tiles on the floor and ceiling, light tables, and red chairs that create that classic pizzeria vibe. While we enjoyed the vibe inside, we opted for the outdoor seating, and it did not disappoint. The layout makes it feel like one large, connected space, with the outdoor vibe blending seamlessly with the interior. Now, onto the food, which is the main reason we came...The recommendation we got was spot on. The Skinny Deep Dish is a fantastic middle ground between traditional deep dish and a thin crust, which they also offer. You still get all the cheesy, crispy goodness, but with just a bit less dough, which makes it perfect for enjoying without feeling overly stuffed before hitting the streets of Chicago for a stroll. While the Skinny Deep Dish was delightful, the true star of the meal was easily the Zucchini Fritti. Hands down, the best fried zucchini I've ever had. Thin slices of zucchini perfectly breaded, seasoned, and fried to crispy perfection and sided with hot marinara for dipping. Honestly, I'd come back just for the fritti. Our service was solid. Our server was friendly, helpful, and genuinely fun. Overall, Labriola Chicago was one of our favorite spots we hit while in the city. The location, the atmosphere, the food (did I mention the zucchini fritti?!), and the service made it a great spot. While there are many places like this in Chicago, we would recommend checking out Labriola at some point. read more
We had a reservation for a Saturday at 7:15 pm and were seated promptly though we came 15 mins early. I'd recommend making a reservation beforehand since there was constantly a line when we arrived and left. The 4 of us shared the tagliatelle bolognese, lemon chicken, and margherita pizza. Everything was delicious and good portions as we were all stuffed. The bolognese was tasty, creamy, flavorful and wasn't overwhelming. The lemon chicken was delicious, tender and juicy and the crispy potatoes were amazing! Inside was large with lots of tables but dimly lit. Service was good and constantly refilled our water cups! Made a reservation for Saturday 7:15PM and we were seated right away even though we arrived 15 mins early. We shared a Margherita pizza, Richie's lemon chicken, and Tagliatelle bolognese for 4 people and were all pretty stuffed. I enjoyed all the dishes but the lemon chicken was surprisingly my favorite; so flavorful and juicy, and the potatoes were amazing! We dined at Labriola before catching a movie and had a great experience. We were in and out in 90 minutes and didn't feel rushed at all! It was a busy night for a Thursday but the service was great! We started with the crispy calamari and the Brussels sprouts - an amazing pair of appetizers! The capers in the Brussels sprouts were a solid addition! We got the Danny's Special thin crust (their version of a Supreme) and it was pretty good - the tomato sauce was a little sweet but overall it was a good pizza! I will return so I can try their deep dish! read more
The service was decent. The food was good. The gnocchi were wonderfully little fluffy pillows. There was a bit of a wait but it was Saturday night, so that's what we expected. Dessert was good, too. It's very loud inside. This is not a spot for a quiet dinner. They charge a 3% service fee. I don't know if that's typical of Chicago, but it surprised me. In short, the deep dish was phenomenal and the pasta was okay. The pizza is worth the wait and the price. Yes it's acute little 12 inch but omg like 2 slices will have you full and you still are responsible for the entire pie. The dough holding the pizza together was well made, not dry or hard at all. The cheese right on top and the sauce after was all great. I will think about that pizza every now and then. It definitely stole the show. The pasta was average but still decent. Solid spot to try deep dish if you're visiting the city! As a New Yorker, I was pretty skeptical about deep dish, since most of the reviews I've heard from my friends have been pretty grim. However, I still wanted to try for myself. We came as a party of 2 around 3pm, during their weekday HH. We ordered their SKINNY Deep Dish, which essentially is less dough thickness, but the same taste -- highly recommend over the OG deep dish! Deep dish is basically a round Sicilian pie (thickness), that has a layer of fried cheese on the bottom, then dough, then the usual deep dish fixings - a layer of sauce + cheese. Our pie took ~35 min to come out. Deep dish tastes like JUST what you'd expect - a strong 7/10 for expected experience. People who aren't into Sicilian slices may find deep dish to be TOO thick, which is why I'd recommend their SKINNY version. We also got their Fritto Misto HH deal ($12), which was fine and nothing special. Great service and comfortable, spacious interior. Would recommend Labriola as a spot to try traditional CHI deep dish! read more

We were meeting friends from Europe who were staying at hotel right by this restaurant. We had never eaten there but your reviews looked good for Chicago style pizzas. It was easy to make reservation, reasonable parking right there ($18). Hostess and wait staff were friendly, helpful and perfectly attentive. There were 6 of us. We had fried ravioli, 2 different salads. Then we had one thin crust and one medium deep dish pizza meaning it was far less bready than normal deep dish. We shared all the above which was perfect, even had some leftovers. I can't rave enough over all of it and can't wait to go back. Our friends had eaten at Lou's and compared that this was so much better. read more

Disappointed that I read reviews that mentioned personal pie but when I got there and sat down I found out only 12" and up. This was my first Chicago deep dish even though I've been to the many times. So I was stuck ordering 12". It's kind of like the old style Pizza Hut with cheese and sauce flipped. The pie seemed hot at first but it was only the crust and the cheese was barely melted and didn't blend with the sauce at all. I got a plain with sausage and it was definitely missing something it was blah. I should've ordered it well done to get it cooked. The service was excellent. The hostess let me have a small booth even though busy. Restaurants need to understand middle age people with bad backs need to rest lol. I had more than half leftover and actually tasted slightly better leftover and cold but it was soggy. Im definitely critical because I'm New Yorker and I've had the best pizza nyc and Italy but this is really close to Pizza Hut. Cook your pizza more and serve it hot! read more

Excellent!! We had dinner at Labriola, and it was fantastic. After a very long day of sightseeing we found our way into this cozy and busy dining room. We were welcomed warmly and seated. Our server was so attentive and had our waters and menus on the table right away. I ordered the meatballs with polenta as my meal, and my husband had the chicken parm. Both were outstanding. We enjoyed the atmosphere while we ate - of happy folks chatting and enjoying their meals. Service was great and so was the food. read more

I do not live in Chicago, but I come here EVERY TIME that I'm in town. Kinda working my way through the menu. So far, none of the dishes have disappointed. The steak, pizza, and the chicken Parmesan have all been outstanding! Funny enough, I have had the same server every time I have been here. Ramon is a professional, with outstanding hospitality skills. He's known every answer about any dish I had questions about while I was trying to make up my mind as far as what should I order when I have a dilemma. The service and the food are the reason why I keep coming back - worth checking out! read more

I ordered eggplant Parmesan, my favorite dish for delivery. The spaghetti was dry without any sauce. The eggplant was so thick and tough that I could not cut it with my fork and it was burned in areas and too salty. The garlic bread was hard as a brick. Delivery was excellent. I am probably the LAST person to realize that this is the same company that owns Stan's Donuts! But they didn't have any on site, oddly! :) We tried their pizza at Pizza Fest a while ago, and it was great! We just never got around to going since so many pizza places are in our neighborhood. We had a coupon for a free appetizer per the Stan's Donut race, so we figured this would be a good reason as any to stop in. We sat inside so we can see tvs, though 1 of them was frozen. Our server was busy but friendly and efficient. I didn't know also they had their own lager, so I tried that (it was good) and we got crispy brussel sprouts and skinny pan pizza with burrata and basil. I never heard of skinny pan! I liked to 'split the difference' where I get pizza thicker than thin crust, but not as heavy as pan/stuffed. It was as good as I remembered from pizza fest. For me the SAUCE is the most important in pizza: you can have the best cheese and bread in the world, but nasty sauce is not worth it! It wasn't too salty or too bland. Too much basil though, I am not a fan of basil! It was busy but not hectic, I appreciated that. read more

We really just chanced upon this charming restaurant while out and it was a lovely experience. The restaurant is located near the canal. It has pretty outdoor seating. We got there early for lunch but it filled up fast as soon as we arrived. We ordered the minestrone soup whiich was excellent. The main reason was because the pasta in the soup was cooked al dente which made it slightly chewy. I loved tbis! Usually pasta in minestrone is always cooked through. Also got the waldorf salad which had loads of candied walnuts. We ordered Danny's Special deep dish pizza. It says it is award winning on the menu so we thought we'd give it a try. It was delicious! I particularly liked the burnt edges where the melted cheese and crust were crispy. The service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant is surprisingly spacious inside. Bathroom was large and clean. I would like to go back and try other menu items and have some more of their minestrone soup! Highly recommend! read more
The two stars are solely for the food (& my dish only). The eggplant parm was tasty, however my husbands salmon was just okay. They don't have a kids menu so we ordered half of the gnocchi which was extremely bland. -3 stars because we had terrible service. Our waiter took a very long time to even give us water. When he finally got there, asked if we had questions about the menu, and as soon as we asked, he quickly answered and then disappeared for at least 15 more minutes. This happened multiple times and he was often nowhere to be found or very difficult to track down. Would not go back because of this. read more

This is a really big restaurant with a nice atmosphere! The service was great loved our waiter but the food is eh compared to all the great Italian restaurants nearby. I got the Cacio e Pepe and it tasted like jar Alfredo. While not bad especially for the price point I wouldn't go here expecting great things. read more

Amazing deep dish Chicago pizza. The skinny deep dish option was very good without all the dough. The burrata & basil was delicious!! The pizzas can take 30 minutes to make but worth the wait. Service 9/10: - our reservation didn't register in the system but our hostess was still able to seat us quickly outside, she was very kind and we appreciated her thoughtfulness - considering it was 4th of July, we got our waters filled up consistently and our orders taken relatively quickly - staff was attentive, kind, and accommodating Ambiance 10/10: - located along Michigan Ave overlooking a scenic view of downtown Chicago, it was perfect to sit outside and enjoy the view - tables were spacious which I appreciated Food: Penne Alla Vodka 8/10 - $18 - perfectly al dente pasta - creamy vodka sauce, I wish it was a little more savory - topped lightly with Parmesan, I recommend adding crushed red pepper flakes - does not come with protein, which there was protein or a larger serving for the price (protein was an upgrade of $5-9 depending on what you wanted) Cupped Pepperoni Artisan Pizza 8.5/10 - $21 - the cupped pepperoni + hot honey was SO GOOD - they don't go light on the hot honey, absolutely covered and not drizzled so you get a prominent flavor throughout - the crust is on the thinner side but not thin crust if that makes sense, perfectly crispy (recommend dipping it in your leftover vodka sauce) - a little cheese heavy for my taste but just a personal preference Would love to come back and try some of their other offerings! Is this an ok place to take children for an early dinner on a weekday? I'm not worried about the food, I'm worried about the atmosphere. (They are really well-behaved kids)
